I got home after a full day to find a message on my phone machine read by a solemn male voice about "your Unitrin specialty insurance policy. A review of our records indicates we have not received your payment. In order to keep your valuable insurance policy in place we must receive your payment by tomorrow. If you have already mailed your payment, we thank you."
He went on to say if I would like to pay now call 888 834 7730 to pay by phone or go to unitrininsurance.com.
At first I panicked, thinking I had missed my house or car insurance payment. Then I realized it was a deceitfully worded form of solicitation. Suppose my son or daughter had gotten the message instead of me and had panicked and called the number and payed the premium with a credit card. I want to know how to report this unethical scam and get it stopped.
