I used Intelluis to locate a friend in November of 2007. My March bank statement came and I noticed an odd charge for "AP924protectplus-V" on my account. I called the number listed on my statement: 1-800-211-9749. I was informed that when I did the search with Intelluis, there was a "$10 rebate option" which automatically enrolled me the 24protectplus program. I did not choose the rebate option and never agreed to enroll in this program. Looking back at my statements, I now realize that they have been charging my account $14.95 for at least 5 months. A very expensive reminder to be more vigilant on checking my monthly bank statements. This is a scam in my opinion and I will be more careful the next time I do any kind of transaction on the internet.

This happened to me as well, but luckily I caught it within a couple of days (the charge was posted to my account on 4/6). There has to be some sort of consumer protection law against websites that make you "opt out" of something, especially when the "opt out" feature is displayed after a purchase and is done so under the guise of a survey.
