We have been dealing with Aaron's for a while now. At first we thought they were very nice, and their prices very reasonable in comparison with other rent to own companies.

However, around August 1st I used a credit card to make a partial payment of $75 on my account for an item that is almost paid off. They took the payment, and then we noticed a transaction on our checking account for approximately $116. The company did not have permission to make this transaction (which was off a different card we had used previously for payments) and they are now saying since we were a little late on our payment that they had the right to make the transaction. Of course we know that legally they did not have the right, and have filed a dispute with our financial institution.

Now we have people from collections at Aaron's calling us every day, and sometimes more than once a day demanding payment. They have admitted they took the credit card payment of $75, and also the $116 when at first they denied taking the $116 or blamed another employee for doing so. If they took all this money we would be paid off and they shouldn't be collecting anything. We have sent copies of bank statements and filed e-mail complaints but it is like banging your head against the wall. Now we know why the good ones at the local stores do not stay very long; they go on to better places.

Our next step is to file complaints with the corporate office and the Better Business Bureau. At least with the BBB the complaint will be there for other potential consumers to see.

I have been a consumer with Aaron's for awhile now. I have one item almost paid off and got new items that I will be paying off 6 months before the year is up.
I have spent a week in the hospital for a stroke, and the doctor has put me on leave from work for 2 weeks. I return back to work in 2 days.
I told Aaron's manager about the situation. He seemed okay that I couldn't pay untill I got the money by borrowing or getting paid from work.
After talking to him I received phone calls for a week from 4 different people and I refused to talk to them because I had talked to the manager.
Well, I have 2 days before I return to work and I get a call from the manager telling me I need to make a payment now or they are sending someone to get the stuff because they have to close out thier books.
I told him no. When I get the money I will bring it in and pay the late fee. He threatened to come and get my stuff if I didn't hurry and come in and pay.
They say this thing that they would take the merchandise and hold it untill you pay and give it back. I told him well if that is the case then I will keep the merchandise and when I get the money I will come in and pay. I didn't understand the difference, Why would I give them merchandise to hold untill I pay when I could keep the merchandise and come in and pay the amount plus late fee. Does anyone seem confused?
Well, I have payed alot of my hard earned money in keeping this merchandise and I don't feel that I am going to give it up when I am paying it off.
My question is can anyone tell me how to get hold of the corporate off in Ohio so I can make a formal complaint?

I have my own personal peeve with the Aaron's store in Odessa, TX. We purchased a washing machine that was improperly installed on January 3, 2008. Result? Three rooms flooded and carpet damaged. We called the store immediately after the damage occurred, and was assured they'd take care of the damages. Well, it's almost 2 months and I'm still looking at bare wood floors and exposed tack strip. I am sending all documentation to our legal representative and have notified the store of my intentions. Their response? They have sent the documentation to the home office. Guess they figure I'll quietly go away. 'Fraid not! I fully intend to get all of my damages and replacement costs back, plus punitive damages.

I am in the process of starting a website and am trying to gather information from consumers such as yourself so that I can take the next step in legal action. Thank you
