Made a payment of 111.00 for three magazines for my husband on 11/28/09. As of this moment we have received nothing. Have tried to make contact to no avail. Tried again this evening and the message was different from before and the mailbox was full at the number given. If possible would like to receive what was ordered or get our money back. A reply would be really nice too.

Colorado. There last name is Covey.

The three so called businesses they are running that I have identified so far are:

Encore Inc., Fit for Life, Triple Seven Inc.

They all use the same contact information:

P.O. Box 1058

Kittredge, CO 80457

Apparently, these businesses sale magazines. They recruit young people with the promise of college tuition or exotic vacations. However the magazines do not exist. The innocent people who purchase the subscriptions never receive them. The people who want to cancel within the three days allowed, never receive their refund. When the customer service line is call you get a recording with the option to leave a message. They do not return your call until you get aggressive and threatening. Then you spend days e-mailing back and forth with Marsha Covey until you realize she is just playing with you.

This family has stolen and is stealing a lot of money from a lot of innocent Americans. They need to be stopped. They have stolen $150.00 from me and I am determined to get it back. I have found many reviews and complaints online from people who have been scammed by this family. Theft is not only a crime, it is a personal violation of the victims.

Here is the information that I have gathered about the family:

Marsha Covey (customer service)

Joseph N Covey (owner)

Jess Covey (field manager)

Marsha and her husband Joseph live at:

2865 Kittredge Park Rd

Evergreen, CO 80439

Jess Covey lives at:

A woman claiming to be named Anna Lopez knocked on our door and when I opened it she barged right in. Walked in to our kitchen and asked us if she could have a beer. Really? She then proceded to show us the magazines that she was selling so that she could go on a trip to Europe. She never asked us if we wanted to buy them, just asked which one we wanted. She was very pushy and did not give us a chance to say no. She then proceeds to tell us that the subscription costs $57! That is more than shelve price for this magazine. The next day I sent in all the information to cancel the order. I still have not received my money back, or my magazine. I have called twice and both times the woman claimed to have never recieved my cancellation information.

This article was helpful to me. Nov of 2011 I was approached by a younger male claiming to be selling magazines for some school thing. I have sold magazines for my school programs for years when I was younger. Paid with a check and was kinda surprised that it was cashed within that same week. Got a hold of a woman at phone number at back of receipt and thought everything was good. Been 8 months now and nothing, no more answers. The part I found most helping is that the company I supposedly bought from is called "Back a Winner". and has the same exact address and phone number as the first one stated on here. Guess this is what I get for being a nice guy. lol. I'll take this as a $57 lesson learned.

Anyone saying the kids don't know it's a scam is full of it. ALL of the stories here match, with ALL of the salesmen telling the exact same things to make a sale. There is no way they don't know what they are doing.
I've had the same thing happen here in Kansas. A young man came to my door selling magazine subscriptions, saying it was for a contest to help kids learn to start their own businessess and they'd also win a trip to Europe. It sounded fishy to me, but he was nice enough so I decided to hear him out. I ended up buying 1 subscription for $60. Looking at my receipt after he left, I saw he'd spelt my address, name, and name of the magazine wrong. I drove around to try and find him, but he was long gone. I Googled the company, only to find this site. Needless to say, I feel like an idiot and should have gone with my gut instincts.

Wow same thing here. We were conned into getting Rolling Stone magazines with the idea that we were helping a kid who had a public speaking phobia. He asked to use our phone afterwards to call someone to pick him up & asked for some water. He then went to a neighbor's door. I kept asking him if it was a fraud, & he insisted I called the number on the receipt and then showed us the money that our neighbor's supposedly gave him for their subscriptions. It hasn't been 120 days (like the receipt says for delivery), but after reading these, I'll stop waiting! I like the person's suggestion on here to get police/BBB involved & raise awareness about sale permits & other laws. I think it's stupid, & I didn't know these scams still existed, or if they did, that @least Lawrence, Kansas wasn't a target! I didn't buy, but my boyfriend did, and I still feel wronged. Only reason I answered the door was b/c we were having a party and I thought he was somebody my boyfriend invited.
The guy was about 5'5, white, in early-mid 20s, wore a wife-beater top, had short light-coloured hair, and was thin. He talked fast & made weird jokes that he said weren't funny. Do not buy from him.

my name is matthew bailer and i have worked for triple seven inc /fit for life for three years until just recently because of a mistake I made I have trained more then 100 different guys and girls and have seen alot of them get fired down the road when they get used to the job and think that they can get away with lieing to the people that help us out and I can honestly say that you are being scamed by the kid at your door and can tell u that if they tell you that they sell magizines for anything other than a trip and 1, 000 dollars then you are being lied to. I went home last year december of 2009 and buried my son and let me just tell you that if it were not for that job and being able to go around meet different people i probibly would not be here today. that job taught me self confidience, respect and gave me hope for a better life i owe them my life and am always grateful for them being there for me when i had no one else to turn to so thank you jess and marsha

IN May of 2010 a couple of young adults came to my door selling magazine prescriptions. The issue was that by getting people to sign up for magazines they would get a trip to Europe if the sold a certain amount of magazines prescriptions. The amount of money they request for 2 years prescription was ridiculous high to me. I ordered Handy man and it was going to cost me 63 dollars for two years. I told them that I would not pay that much money for magazines. The young lady asked me how much i would be willing to pay because some people gave them cash donations and did not want the magazines but they only get points for magazine orders so they were going to add their cash to my donation to qualify me for the magazine. One request that they had of me was that I did not pay them by check because they got more point if it was cash and even more if it was an ATM transaction. This was a concern of mine but they told me they did not need any information from my withdrawal slip accept the amount I withdrew. I tore off everything but that from my receipt and gave it to her. I gave them 35.00 dollars. I was told I would receive my magazine in 6 to 8 weeks. Well 8 weeks went by and no magazines. I called the number on the receipt and the lady I spoke with, after giving her the receipt number, told me everything that was on my receipt. so I figured it must be legit if she was looking at my order. I told her that i never received my magazines and i was questioning if this was legit. She apologized and said that some how my order wasn't processed and that she was going to give me an extra year of magazines for my troubles but it would take another 6 to 8 weeks before i would receive my magazines. This time has long passed and I have yet to receive a magazine. I tried to call the number again but this time it took me to a voice mail box but it would not allow me to leave a message. I then did a search on the web on this company and found many people complaining of the same thing. What I think is going on is that this company is recruiting kids with the promise of trips, to sell magazine proscription. According to what i read on the web, these kids are also being scammed with promises and none of us get anything that was promised to us. I personally don't think that they are aware of the scam. This company is ripping people off with the idea that we are helping these young adults as well as getting magazines.

I just called the cops about the same thing in Ann arbor MI. Same story as you guys 2 kids in 20's selling mags for troops and for a fundraiser... I told the kids I had to go get money because all I had was card and they said ok they will be back in 20 mins. What I really did was call the cops and told them everything she said one will be there soon. Well I called the cops again! 20 mins later! when the kids were at my door for the second time! She said she was sorry but all the cops were busy but the call is still active. I told the kids my gf would be back with the money in a few mins. The cops came 20mins later and I was given a call by the dispatch. She told me the cop talked to them and he was downstairs and I could go down if I wanted to talk to them. Being a Iraq Vet at age 20 I knew that was the stupidest thing in the world. Those guys know where I live and I have 2 girls in my place I wouldn't want them to know it was me that called who knows what they would do to the girls now that they know where I lived and it was me who placed the call.

I told her to have the cop come to me. The cop came and didn't seem to really care at all and was annoyed. I asked the cop what he thought and he said he can't do anything because they were legit and he doesn't know if the company is or is not.

He said they were form Toledo, Ohio and he told them to go back. I was upset but I knew my place and didn't say anything. I said ok and he turned to leave and I stuck out my hand but... he just left lol!

5 min later...

They comeback to my door and ask if I still want to buy some! My gf is home and blows up... ... I asked them about their company I want to check online first and I told them the cops came by and told us to not buy from them WHICH IS A LIE!

He showed me the company address "Triple 7" and "Fit for life"

I google them and yep bad... that's how I found this. My Gf called the cops... told them again and they seemed pretty different this time. But after 10 they called back and asked if the guys were still at our door and they weren't. He told us to call them back if they do show up again... I guess 3rd times the charm!

Good luck folks!

They've come to Tennessee. I was sucked in with the plug that the magazines were going to wounded soldiers. The rest of the story was also similar to some in the above comments... contest for a trip to Italy, training young people in starting their own business, mag. subscriptions for wounded soldiers... etc. After being shocked at how much it was going to cost, I asked lots of questions and things weren't adding up but I felt I had committed already so I wrote a check. When I shut the door, I ran to the computer and this website was the first to appear, so I hopped in my car and found the kid one street down. I asked for my check back and he wouldn't give it to me without the receipts. I was afraid he was going to run so I walked with him all the way back to my house. Out of nowhere a suburban drove up and stopped in front of my house, filled with ladies, it seemed. He stood next to the vehicle and said he would wait for me. I told him to come with me because I figured he would just hop in and get away. He complied (neighbors were watching) and I gave him the receipts and he gave me my check back. Called the police later this evening as it seems evident from many of the comments on here that this is truly a widespread scam and the police should be aware that it is here.

Laramie, WY: Scammer "Scott Kellogg" was peddling magazines door to door, stating the magazines would go to troops overseas. After giving him a check, we found this website and immediately canceled the check, for a $3o fee. Worried about account fraud, we sought this boy out and found him with a neighbor and requested our check back. He gave the check back in exchange for our copies of the receipts. Still nervous about him having our information, he tore off the portion with the signature and address. Still unsure, we contacted local law enforcement, who we observed make contact with the kid. Unsure as to the result right now, but have a strong suspicion this is the same scam. Same contact information as previous bloggers & the number is disconnected when we call. We checked the Better Business Bureau website and saw only a few complaints, all of which were somehow resolved. They are not required to be accredited with the BBB. People need to continue making complaints and let it be known so other unsuspected folks, wanting to do something good, don't become victims of this scam!

The same thing happened to me yesterday. A school kid knocked on my door and told me that they were raising money for the neighborhood. I agreed to buy two magazines and cost me almost $100. The boy even told me I can get the tax refund by the government. I'm so regret to pay him cash since I realize it may be a fraud.

Same situation as everyone else. I had a fast talking saleman approach me at my apartment, actually around the same time as Mrs. Callahan, I live in Albuqerque NM. He said he was selling magazine subscriptions to raise money for the troops, so I agreed to buy something. He offered me a 3 year subscription to Guns and Ammo magazine for $63. I agreed to do so. He was very insistent that I pay with cash, but I didn't have enough on hand so I wrote a check. The guy told me that I would be contacted prior to having my account charged, but a few weeks later I was charged, and had not been contacted by phone or otherwise. Since was unaware they were going to charge me, I did not make a deposit to cover the expense. The check bounced and I was hit with an NSF fee. A few days, several fraudulent transactions appeared on my account such as a couple paypal payments to web cam shows performed by strippers. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau describing this issue and a few weeks later I got a response from this business that they had mailed my magazine, although I have never received it, and that I was hurting their business by writing fraudelent checks. I don't think they realize how much they hurt me by stealing my identity and drowning me in overdraft fees for transactions I didn't even make. My bank account was closed and my credit destroyed because of these ### and everyone on this board or who reads this needs to file a police report and contact the Better Business Bureau. My complaint number is [protected]. It is being handled by the Boulder CO department of BBB, and their office number is [protected]. Marsha Covey is the manager who replied to BBB about my complaint. The phone number for triple seven is [protected], although no one ever answers or has returned my messages to date. This is a nation wide fraud ring masquqerading as a legitimate corporation, and needs to be stopped. One last thing I checked subscription prices for Guns and Ammo magazine, and they charge $12.97 monthly. A three month subscription would be $38.91, not $63. Thanks for reading and if your a victim of these con artists please take action and notify the Better Business Bureau.

I just called my bank to stop payment after readying this from you guys. I was about to mail everything that says to cancel orders send copy if check and send in receipt. I felt something didn't seem right with that so I just called my bank and told them stop payment. Next time I just won't open the door. Since the kid told me they are doing this for two weeks in San Mateo CA.

The exact same thing just haqppened here in Chowchilla, Ca., I was at my grandmothers house when two young (fast talking) "kids" came up to the door and were selling magazine subscriptions. They said they were trying to earn points for a trip somewhere. I waited around to hear who she needed to make the check payyable to and they said triple 7 inc., so I went to the computer and looked it up! And low and behold all I saw was FRAUD, SCAM, etc. I grabbed the check from her and told the young men that I looked it up and that they would not be getting any money from her! They were a little aggravated that I thought it was a scam but they moved on quickly! Beware everyone they are still out there!

I had the same thing happen to me in California. The girl was so nice too.
I have bought like this before and gotten the magazines so this seemed ok. The only clue I got was when she asked for cash instead of a check. I didn't pay with cash but I still feel ripped off.

Yesterday I was at my grandparents house and the same thing there was a knock at the door by this kid who said he was selling these magazine subscriptions to win a trip for troubled kids. However he told us that the subscription was donated to either the troops or Children's hospital we had the choice of where we wanted the magazine's donated to. I let him use my phone when he was done and I have the number he called for his so called leader to pick him up. I feel like letting our news station know to let others in our area be aware of this scandal. He did also mention that they we hitting up 16 different states. We live in California.
