I was told by my lawyer to hire this "Forensic" CPA to go through my personal and professional financial records to prepare for a divorce case. Nearly six months later and MANY thousands of dollars of invoicing, and barely ever hearing from the guy or his office, I had someone check into the invoices; and they were charging for work that I was doing gathering and uploading files to their system at a paralegal rate, and they were charging for Todd's time in meetings that Todd never had. I confronted him and proved the errors. Next he then alleged to my divorce attorney that I hadn't paid him, despite my bookkeeper showing her reports we'd paid every invoice. I fired him and my divorce attorney, hired new, and when my new attorney spoke with him, he had nothing to show for the work, not an up-to-date financial affadavit despite charging me for reviewing new records, no business valuation, nothing. He kept the "evergreen" retainer of what he "thought" he was owed. This is a horrible unethical situation and their invoicing practices are atrocious, and they charge for work they do not perform. My new attorney is advising me to sue them. Caveat Emptor. This guy is in cahoots with Catherine W. Real, and look her up, she's got a horrible reputation for this kind of scam too.

If you want to follow up on this guy Todd Burg, write a complaint letter to the certifying body he is a member of. Write to the AICPA (American Institute of CPA's) and the Florida DBPR (Department of Business and Professional Regulation) and tell your story. This guy is a crook and needs to be run out of this profession!

I really don't know where to begin. I have been with Todd since Sept 2014 and my case has gone no where. Him and Peter Meros are crooks. All they care about is billing and stealing money from their clients. They are a very unethical team. They will make you believe they are working with you and then when it is time for a hearing leave you if your bill isn't paid in full. The hours and time on the bill are all fraud. I am about 100, 000 in the hole and nothing to show for it. My divorce case will be going on 2 years in sept. and had to find another attorney and accountant and start all over. I wish I knew when I hired them what I know now. I found out so many others in St. Pete have filed malpractice suits and have gotten out of paying their bills. For all of you who plan to hire a divorce team ( accountant and attorney) do your self a favor and DO NOT use Todd Burg or Peter Meros! you WILL be sorry!

Todd Burg is a crook! He sat in my Attorney's Office and told me he would do my case for $2500. Then, a few months later, he called me and told me he needed more money. He said $200 will do it, and you'll be good all the way though court day and him testifying. He stopped me 10 feet from the courtroom door on court day and handed me an invoice for $7600! I asked him if he would allow me to take it home and review it... he said NO! I said why, he said because we were getting ready to go into the courtroom. So I asked him if he was telling me that he wouldn't go into the courtroom and testify unless I signed the note of the $7600... and he said that's right!
He has up-charged me, lied to me, we lost the case because he couldn't prove anything, he wouldn't accept a letter from me proving my ex's income, he said we did'nt need it. My Attorney told me Todd would make or break my case, they were right! I lost because of Mr. Burg. If you hire this guy, be prepared to get the shaft!

This frankly surprises me as I have always known Todd to be a fair, ethical and extremely hardworking guy who genuinely cares about his clients. With all due respect, I have trouble believing Todd would engage in such behavior. Unfortunately, he has chosen to partner with Jeff McClanathan, an arrogant, judgmental person who seems to think he's God's gift to the planet. In reality Jeff is a disgrace to the profession who loves to badmouth everyone he comes in contact with. He has nothing but negative criticism for anything anyone does unless he can somehow take credit for their success. It's no wonder they have such high staff turnover. The really sad part about this is Jeff and Todd both work with some very competent attorneys. When alleged incidents like this surface, it not only reflects poorly on MBA, CPAs, but it calls into question the integrity of the law firms who retain them. I just hope anyone thinking about retaining this firm or permitting their attorneys to do so reads this first.
