Thompson Cigar stale stogeys

If you want to buy direct out of the trashcan of a reseller, shop thompsons. Offering the finest "blends" now, but they don't tell you it's blended horse and cow dung. No satisfaction whatsoever as if totally surprised and amazed. With all these complaints, you'd think they might have heard it before.

Thompson Cigar deceptive sales tactics

Simply read the post dated March 20, 2007 from Mark Boyd and that is exactly my experience. Incredible that 2 years later they are still acting this way. I called back the next day to cancel the order and I told them I want to make sure I have no re-occuring charges on my credit card.

Well it was too late to cancel...hmmm...but I was told the club membership (which I did not want) was canceled and I could return the cigars once I receive them.

We shall see. My card has been charged and I am waiting for the order.

I wish I had read this site prior to ordering.

So Thompson Cigar; if you are reading this...you lost yet another customer for good.

Thompson Cigar avoid at all costs

First and foremost, I purchase just about everything via the internet these days. That being said, I can honestly say that my recent experience with Thompson Cigar is hands down the worst online retail purchase I have ever experienced. Their order processing is the slowest I have ever encountered. Their customer service is terrible, and their lack of motivation to go the extra mile for their customers is just plain sad. Do yourself a favor and avoid like the plaque!

I signed up for the thompson cigar but I cancelled my subscription on [protected] my dad can no longer smoke cigars and saving ace sent me a cancellation confirmation # [protected], but it was still on my charge, what do i do now

Thompson Cigar keeping charging my credit card!

I would NEVER order from this company again. I initally placed an order for my husband and yup, they talked me into joining their club. After they messed my order up and overcharged me, I decided to cancel the club membership immediately. Here is it, 2 months later and they charge me AGAIN for more cigars neither of us ordered AND they are taking their sweet time in refunding us back the money. Buyers beware!

Thompson Cigar phantom billing

While ordering from thompson cigar co the rep offered a service which sent cigars for me to sample then they would bill me later. I refused the offer. But I did not read every transaction on my credit card.

After giving thompson your credit card number>>>>

double check > little charge on your statement and call every vendor to confirm what the transaction was for.

For everyone else's sake I hope I'm wrong. but be carefull

Just a FYI i was on the phone for 15 min. yes 15 min. I know most people would have hung up. But i just wanted to see how long it would take for a oper. to take my call. When i finnaly tryed to place my order i could not understand him. IF my order does come. And if it is right, it will be a miracle.

Thanks for the Great Job in takeing my order.

Thompson Cigar customer service

After ordering a simple box of cigars I began receiving solicitous phone calls the very same night that I ordered.

The next day, I got 2 more phone calls from them.

The day after; three.

I called in, complained and had my number removed from their call list — did it help? No. Now I get at least one call everyday and most of the time they hang up as soon as I pick up (reading the notes on the account no doubt).

As far as product goes, I returned the box I ordered because it was 100% other than advertised. They said they would send out a replacement box to my liking, and then charged me for them unauthorized. So now, I have 2 charges on my card, no cigars and I have wasted 2 hours and 40 minutes calling into their global call center located in manila, philippines.

Every rep you speak to is a "senior representative" and none of them will escalate your case above themselves as they tell you "there is no one else to put you in touch with, sir. I am the senior representative." if you push hard enough, they will "see if someone is available" wherein you will be put on hold and promptly disconnected. I took this route 3 or 4 times yesterday while wearing out my cell battery with them.

It is almost impossible to communicate with the reps in their cs center. It's not that the english is bad, not at all — they speak very good english and have excellent comprehension, it's just that they are obtuse to anything and everything you say. "you have made an unauthorized charge to my credit card, refund my money now!" gets you "yes sir, I understand and will note your concern." over... And over... And over.

It is clear that this company does nothing to value its customers as their customer service and post sales support is about the worst on earth.

For the record, I am a customer service manager for the 4th largest software company on the planet — I know what I am talking about concerning the subject.

Thompson cigar will never see a cent of my business again. I will also tell everyone that will lend an ear to the horrors that lay before them should they decide to undertake a purchase from this travesty of a retailer.

Like I'm seeing in countless online complaints, they enrolled me in a program that I refused, then billed my credit card without permission. I will never use Thompson Cigar Company again. They also sold my email & personal info to every filthy spammer on the face of earth.

2 weeks ago I ordered some cigars from Thompson and they never arrived. I asked their customer service people for a UPS tracking number and could not get an answer. I emailed their cyber support, customer service team and never got an answer. I guess I have no choice but to call Mastercard and have them reverse the charge.

I love cigars and have no problems with Cigars International, Cigars.com or JR's Cigars, all of whom deliver their product within days.

To my fellow cigar hounds, do yourselves a favor... avoid Thompson like the plague.

This post closely describes my experiences.
-My biggest beef with Thompson is that no one in the Call Center seems to know anything about cigars. I explained the taste profile I was looking for and no one I spoke understood. They all kept recommending cigars I probably will never want to smoke.
-My second problem with these guys is the 'hard sell' they use when you call. My dad used to buy from these folks and he liked them. I'm not sure what's changed, but, they should change it back!
-Lastly, the calls! I don't know how these folks think pressuring people who typically smoke cigars for relaxation want to be pressured into buying!?!

I have been buying from this company for several years. Everytime I had a problem with an order, which was quite frequently, customer service seemed very inexperienced. Once I even canceled my club membership because I was so frustrated with customer service. Customer service then called me and begged me to come back and promised me they would personally fix all problems. I just recently made an order and received it. Of course, as usual, the order was incorrect, even though on the top of the bill it says "NO SUBSTITUTION FOR THIS CUSTOMER". The only reason why I still buy, is because they are less expensive. I guess you sacrifice service for price.

Thompson Cigar deseptive web site

deceptive web site would not allow canceling anything. no e-mail conformation of order shipment . one week from submitting order still waiting for any shipping info. a call to customer service . they gave me an invalid tracking # I will never order from them again. I buy from cigars international from now on. Never have a problem with them.

Thompson Cigar good customer service

I had a small problem before I reached customer service. I had placed an order to go to two students that had departed to Iraq. The package was lost and never delivered. With the assistance of a supervisor who went "over and beyond" to make sure that the package was delivered to one my students father to have the cigars forwarded to them. The supervisor was very professional and very courteous! Since then I am very happy to say that I have continued to do business with Thompson's and I know that my students communicate with this supervisor to continue ordering cigars from Thompson's.

Thompson Cigar pleasant experience

I just want to say that the experience that I had with Thompsons has been a pleasant one. I have ordered for my husband and never had any problems. I like what they are doing for the servicemen sending them cigars. The supervisor that I spoke to recently was very professionals and have treated me like family. We wanted to order some cigars for the troops and we connected to a Edward Noriega who was very pleasant and explained how the troops would receive the cigars. How wonderful that a company takes interest in our servicemen. Please continue the good work.

Thompson cigars gave out my charge card information to Passport to Fun Plus and Passport 2 Fun Plus. I got charge $14.95 on two different charge cards, two months in a row, if I didn’t call the bank to put a stop
on my charge card I would be still paying that charge today.
I call Passport to Fun Plus and was told that Thompson cigar sign me up for the service. you may want to check your account.

I'm glad you had a good experience. Ironically, though the company does run promotions whereby cigars are sent overseas to servicemen, they have been in the process over the past few years of sending customer service and sales jobs overseas as well. Managers, such as the outstanding individual you spoke with; are regularly sent to the Phillipines to develop that call center at the expense of American workers in Tampa. This reliance upon foreign customer service workers saves the company plenty in wages and benefits, but also customers, as you'll notice reading other comments on this blog. Thompson Cigar tries to project the image of patriotism, but actually engages in rather unpatriotic outsourcing. Thanks.

Thompson Cigar terrible customer service

Actually, this is a response to the complaints. My problem started with what appeared to be an incompetent staff. I was at my wit's end, I asked for a manager, and got someone who didn't understand what the problem was either. The problem was simple, and I couldn't understand her inability or grasp, while insisting upon my joining the "club". It was clear that these were people with little to no grasp of english intricacies. I tried one last time to reach an AMERICA based manager. I spoke with Hoc Mai, and have been extremely satisfied ever since. He went out of his way to keep me as a customer. It's worth giving them a shot again, insisting upon American people in cust. service.

I ordered a humidor which, due to a complex series of delivery problems never got delivered and I opted to have it shipped back to the company and request a refund.

The problem with this was that in order to actually speak to a customer service representative at Thompson cigars, it took many phone calls at various numbers... I still don't know which is the correct number to call for an honest to goodness customer service rep that knows anything!
The first phone call put me in touch with someone in an entirely different country who barely spoke english and had no concept of the problem I was trying to discuss.That should have been my first indication as to what I was up against. During the series of attempted calls to speak to someone in customer service, I spent an irritatingly long time on hold EVERY single time I called. After waiting on hold then finally getting to speak to someone, I was either told to call a different number, hold to be transferred and then disconnected, or given inaccurate or condescending information about what to do. I was never given any useful help.

As it turns out, I had to finally contact my credit card company to stop payment, due to a lack of any progress in receiving a refund from the company.

I will never do business with Thompson cigars again. Their customer service has to be one of the worst in the industry.

What you dont understand is these Reps are being forced to provide this type of C S. Thompson is losing money and has resorted to Outsourcing in Manila..where you cant even understand them.They are constantly monitored and harassed.. Ask the BBC about them.. The Better Business Bureau could give you more info. Thompson has hired high school students to sell cigars..underage and promoting tobacco?

Thompson Cigar satisfy

Very satisfied with Thompson Cigars and Hoc Mai-Customer Svc Supv.

5/8/08 I ordered cigars and a humidor, both items arrived within 5-7 days as promised. The cigars were good, the humidor was damaged. I called Customer Svc and after being on the phone for forty minutes received a 30% discount. Not satisfied with the humidor and discount, called back and asked for the supervisor. I was connected to Hoc Mai who immediately instructed me to return the humidor and select a new humidor. Today I have the new humidor and all was resolved in a friendly and business like manner.

I am a one and one time only customer of Thompson Cigar. I waited on hold for approximately 30 minutes to have my call answered by a person with a minimal command of the English language and a very short temper. I asked to order a sampler and was told that I had to order an upgraded version to get the cigars pictured for certain. I took my chances with the advertised special. I called Friday and was told my order would ship Monday. I called Monday and was told it shipped. According to the UPS tracking number it did not begin shipping until Wednesday. When I called to ask about this I was given a run-around with an explanation blaming UPS for not coming to the Warehouse often enough to pick up. Each and every time I called, even when it was to complain, I was pressured to buy more things including expensive humidors, accessories and club membership. This was by far the most annoying part. I went so far as to say "I just want to order this one product and get off the phone, is that okay?" And was told that if I just listened there would be better things to buy.

That's it for me. Hopefully my first order will show up, and I will be done with this company.

Thompson Cigar cigars

I said yes to a free sampler to which the phone solicitor told me he would add some free Padrons. When the package arrived I owed $121.00 and was a member of thier cigar club. I was never asked to join. I returned all the cigars for a refund the same day after talking to a Thompson supervisor. They then billed me nearly $18.00 for shipping & handling even though I never agreed to join the club in the first place. BEWARE they have a habit of dropping your call when they find out you want to return the product. I was dropped 3 times before I got a supervisor. They are crooked

I was a customer of Thompson Cigar for quite some time and was also a member of their phony cigar club that promotes discounts and offers gifts and free cigars after so many points have been earned, but the reality is the cigar club is a scam. They overcharge for their products and in the end you are paying for any freebies that they give you period. I found the same cigars at JR Cigar for quite less and they have been great company to buy from. In my frustration I even wrote the owner of Thompson with my experience and of course I was never contacted. The company and the way they promote their products is nothing less than a big scam designed to rip you off. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THOMPSON CIGAR!

Thompson Cigar con job

I too fell victim to their Cigar of the Month Club baloney. I have been a Thompson Cigar customer for years. That's now history (try Cigars International). I've only recently had "Customer Service" problems with them. While concluding my last telephone order I was scurried off to a slick tongue that foisting the Cigar of the Month Club on me. After several "no thanks" from me, he said that he noticed my favorite cigar and was going to send me a complementary box. Well gents, the box came all right - with a $62 invoice. Guess I don't know what "complementary" means. I sent the box back unopened with the invoice and a demit from their Cigar of the Month Club. This month I received another invoice for $12 - with no mention what the invoice is about. They got one of my famous "barn burning" letters in return. For any amount of money, I'll take them to the depths of hell before they see a dime from me.

Thompson Cigars boasts a 92 year history of business from Tampa. I think it's about time for them to call it "quits" and get out of the cigar and scam businesses.

Thompson Cigar keeps sending me almost daily e-mails promoting their tobacco products despite the fact that I've repeatedly filled out an online form asking them to stop. I don't even smoke cigars. Thompson Cigar spams.

I have been a Thompson cigar customer for years, and I am now compelled to opine on a very disturbing phone call I just recieved from Thompsons. I recently ordered approximately 150 cigars to completely fill my humidore to the brim, within the past month.On Monday Nov. 21 2011, a sales rep. called to ask if I recieved the last of my order.I answered that I did, and then I was asked if I wanted to join their cigar club which I answered, no.The caller then told me that the club would be good for a person like me, and again I told him, no.this person then asked, why not, and I had to explain to him that I just ordered enough cigars to fill a 200 cigar humidor and I would not be ordering any more for quite some time.seeming annoyed with my answer, (HE SHOULD BE ANNOYED ?)He asked me if I have ever tried Alec Bradley cigars, and that they are having a great sale on these cigars, and I should get in on the savings. once again I explained to him about the overflowing humidor on my table. Well you get the picture. Never has Thompson cigar called me in the past to hawk cigars, let alone their cigar club. it`s bad enough I have to put up with that rubbish whenever I place an order, now I get phone calls, trying to ram cigars and clubs down my throat ? There are plenty of cigar stores in my area and I plan on visiting them on a more frequent basis. Nice work Thompson cigar, you have just lost yet another customer. HASTA LA VISTA BABY! I too deal with Thompson, as I live in the same town, personally I have never had any negative experiences with this company, they've always been very helpful, I think where the problem lies is the fact that Thompson farms out part of their customer service to the Pillipeans(sp?), this is where words like inept, and rude come into play because that location is horrible, the staff there can hardly understand english, let alone speak it, and in the world of customer service, communication is the most important element, but they dropped the ball hiring nuckleheads like that, they're not only foreign with very little english speaking skills, but they are also extremely rude, I mean the audacity! Yea I was put on this "club" when I clearly asked NOT to be put on any club, it's nearing criminal in how they operate "over there", I don't understand, I've always had good experiences from the American side of this business, why would they have to turn off their customers by exposing them to this Asian nightmare?

Thompson Cigar refund/billing

I was put into a cigar "club" that automatically deducted from my checking acct an automatic order that I did not want or order.When I returned the shipment and cancelled my "club" membership I was transfered to a very difficult to understand, far eastern accented, woman who was reading from a script trying to win me back.After several frustrated attempts to speak with a supervisor, I was told I would have to pay for the return shipment and It would take 3-5 days to credit my acct.It's been 7 days now and several threatening phone calls have accomplished nothing.I am very angry that this was not handled professionally. Bottom line, I will tell every man I know NEVER order from thompson cigar.

I caneled my shipment on 4-3-08 but yet you sent me more Cigars I do not want any more
plus who ever deliverd them put them in a bag because the box was smashed I was shocked
to see your product all the years I was getting your cigars I never had a box so damaged like
this one plus I hope you will credt my credt card because agin Idid not this shipment

Thompson Cigar terrible humidor

Thompson Cigar are construction their humidor out of compressed partical board and lining the board with paper thin cedar veener that is being glued on.

This is boarding along fraud, the website and catalong states "thick cedar".

Thompson Cigar unsolicited phone calls!

I occasionally order cigars from this company, and have routinely NOT checked the box to receive email promotions. Recently I have gotten a phone call, which started as a "routine customer survey", and immediately became a sales attempt for membership in a Cigar Club, with regular shipments. I immediately told the woman I was not interested, at which time she really stepped up the sales pitch, and said "give it a shot, I'm sure you'll be...", I finally had to hang up, after once again telling her I was not interested.

Unfortunately I will no longer be a customer.

i reciently order cigars by mail. two to three weeks i have not received the order. a check was included for the cigars. i talked to a lady today who is to provide a substitute cigar as she said the ones is ordered were out of stock. it would have been nice to know this several weeks ago. this lady wanted me to join the club. after some discussion she finally understood that i was not interested. later the sale day i received a call from another lady who insisted i join the club. i have in the past and will keep ordering cigars when i want them. if i keep getting the push to join the cigar club i will switch to another source to buy cigars. the type of advertising that these people use is almost a insult.

I had the same experience with the unsolicited phone call. I hung up also and then thought - damn- I didnt tell the salesman to remove me from the list so I called back and asked to be removed. Out of anger I also demanded that the catalogs be stopped. I just did not want anything to do with a company that would call me without permission.
What I could not beleive was that the customer service contact could not remove me from the call list unless I gave her my phone number! I refused, reminding her that all of that information was in my customer file and she could get off her behind and find it.
I ended up talking to her manager who told me the same ### and bull story~ apparantly the right hand has no idea what the left is doing- perhaps because it is too deep into out pockets to check?
I have to say that Thompson sells a good product. Too bad they are ruining long standing relationships with there mercenary attitude toward customer privacy.
No doubt some hot shot new marketing guru geve them the benifit of his wisdom! HA!
Too bad he cost them a lot more then what they paid him for the advice!
