Doesn't deliver the service

We wanted to change to a "green" host but guess what? DON'T do THIS with THinkhost!!! Better to stick with the ones who have a good support center and services and then just buy trees to offset. We have paid a 2 year contract with Thinkhost and when we wanted to transfer from our old hosting company we encountered the following:

1. We changed dns but we weren't able to see the website; they didn't create the marinedream account in the hosting panel only after 3 support tickets they figured out that that was the problem. But still my question how to use ftp from a program instead of a panel after 8 support tickets I still haven't heard the answer.

2. I couldn't get in the secured hosting panel for emails; they keep telling me they can get in - but hey that doesn't help me; I lost 3 days email because I kept waiting for them to solve the issue. Today I just had to go back to my old hosting company and guess what within an hour i can receive emails again.

3. When you sign up they don't tell you that you cannot upload cgi files chmod 777; tjee and i just had application that needs 777;

4. I prepaid because they said 120 days money back guarantee -> FORGET that you will get a refund! After 3 days of hassle and complaints and giving them 3 days to help to get the service in order they refused to give it BACK! They want to steal from foundations like we are in stead of just giving the money back!!!

So my point: Do not use THINKHOST and just buy trees to offset your CO2; Do not make the mistake we did to trust them and that they will refund the money if you can't use the service.

We've had a chillingly similar experience with Thinkhost, and thus far they've refused to refund our payment, despite providing lame excuses for their complete and utter failure to provide contracted services.

Do NOT sign up with this group; they don't give a #%# about their customers nor do they deliver on services.

1. Don't fall for Thinkhost's empty "120 day guarantee". You waive all quality of service which gives you nothing. It's only there to draw you in.

2. Ignore the generous bandwidth and storage, and cheap monthly rate: not cheap when it's two years up front, it's non-refundable, and you can't use it.

3. Don't waste your time or get frustrated fighting with them for a refund, it's not happening. This is a well-oiled machine, and they have all the answers just waiting to hear from you so they can tell you no.

We were consistently unable to connect to their servers, unable to upload via FTP without repeated timeouts and server disconnects. Worst of all, their "open source" control panel is bad-beyond-belief. If you've ever used cPanel or H-Sphere, you will think it is a practical joke.

Their advertising is full of untruths:
"Top of their class technologically"
"100% in terms of service uptime"
"We stand behind our advertising"
"excellent standard of hosting"
"Honesty, Integrity and Trust"

They say they guarantee their advertising to be true, but specifically *exclude* all "quality of service issues (ie uptime/stability/availability)" as reasons for a refund. What is that circular non-sense? Besides the "Green" pitch, probably also a crock, the level of service is the only salient feature of their advertising, so by excluding it they guarantee nothing.

You're only recourse is to chargeback, but it will fall under "quality of service issue" which you specifically agreed to waive, so then you have to convince the credit card company this is illegitimate. We've just started the process and it's a hassle. Learn from our mistakes. Don't enrich these guys.

I wish I knew how utterly awful their service was before hand. After a week days I was unable to receive email and my website was down more than it was up. A waste.
