On Friday August 1, 2008 I went to the website http://1-hour-cash-advances.com and completed an application. I thought I would be obtaining a payroll advance directly through this site. Unbeknownst to me, this site actually shares my information with their affiliates [one of which being The Loan Shop], who then began bombarding me with payday loan offers via email and phone. I never received a payday loan from the Loan Shop; however my account was debited today [Aug. 15th 2008] for $260.00. I checked my 30-day online banking statement and do not see any payday loan deposits, so I would like to know why the Loan Shop felt they were authorized to enter my account and debit $260.00 that they did not earn. I have contacted the toll-free number next to the debit appearing on my bank statement [(888) 265-5074], and unfortunately they are closed during the weekends. I plan to call first thing Monday.
Also, based upon what I have read from the internet, I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau as well as my state's Attorney General's office. In addition, I will be notifying my financial institution first thing tomorrow that this debit was not authorized. I hope to be able to report some sort of resolution to this issue.
