The Container Store This is a really good store

This is a really good store. When I lived back in Washington and first went into this place, it was kinda overwelming. My apartment was a mess and they really have everything you need. It's sad when you grow up and you feel all excited buying containers. I'm getting too old.

The Container Store My house built of metro & intermetro!

I have a house of metro and interometro units carts and wardrobes. Fantastic customer service in the stores and equally online. My only complaint is shipping packing./packaging The items are often heavy and need more padded packaging on shelf corners (recyclable). My shelf carts are strong and have served me for years. My tv cart held my old big tube Tv 175lbs no issues, and now My new 50 inch flat (45lbs) is perfect on the cart and looks just as good.

The Container Store Impeccable customer service!

I have ordered a metal piece for a storage unit. It has arrived with very deep cracks and chips. I have owned several of exactly the same units for over 7 years, moved with them 3 times and they don't have a single scratch on them.
The problem is that when we received the item, we did not have time to set it up for over 2 months, neither did we check it (it's solid metal, what could be wrong with it?).
So, when I eventually discovered all the defects, I did not have much hope, but I contacted the container store customer service anyway.
I told them about the problem and they sent me a brand-new item.
I have received the replacement fairly soon and I am very satisfied with it.
It makes me want to shop at the container store more.

The Container Store Terrible management and awful packaging of glass containers for shipping

I placed an order mid February for anchor stacking glass storage canisters. It took some time to receive to separate shipments but when I finally relieved the first almost everything was shattered. There was no bubble wrap, shrink wrap, packing air bubbles, nothing. Just a piece of tissue paper wrapped around the canisters. I am not sure why any company would allow glass packaging to leave a facility this way. I brought the shipment into my home only to open and discover the shards of glass that filled my foyer. Awesome, I have a baby running around so I had to take time out my day to tackle that situation, which if you've cleaned glass you know is time consuming to say the least. Anyway, I emailed customer service and the woman told me let's wait on your second shipment then we'll figure out a solution. Okay? I have a pantry project but I figured whatever she's doing her best. So I waited, second shipment came boxed from anchor hocking so it was perfect. Anyway, I emailed her about the first and she sent out replacements. Guess how the replacements came? SHATTERED. Again, my foyer filled with glass and by this point I was still finding pieces of glass from the first shipment. At this point I am very upset, I gave container store the benefit of the doubt with packaging the first time but it only got worse. Not only are they increasing their carbon footprint with this nonsense they are wasting valuable time and product. Anyway I reach out to the woman I was emailing she tells me a supervisor will call, and they didn't. I emailed her three times before she finally responded again telling me maybe it was my fault I missed the call? Seriously? Let's play out that scenario of blaiming the customer. I didn't receive a missed, a voicemail, a callback or an email. Does this seem like a professional supervisor to you? So Im being insulted that I didn't get the call and continued to be mocked by no form of communication shown or left. I reached out again via phone and a representative told me a manager would call(after she also blamed me for not answering). That manager never did, no voicemail, missed call, email, NOTHING. I mean okay IF I did get a call one of two times wouldn't that leave a missed call notification? Anyway, fast forward to this morning I called again because you know with a baby running around, and other family situations I have so much time! This young lady told me a supervisor just went into a 2 hour meeting(convenient) and she'll be calling me after. I have no hope left. I have spent money and time and I am not receiving anything in return. Not a refund, a replacement, a courteous phone call. The department that packages needs to figure out a different solution this is such an convenient situation for the average person.

At the moment I will wait for a manger to "call me" so I can "miss it" because container store representatives think I am not capable of answering a phone. If this call is "missed" I will have no choice but to dispute the transaction with my bank and make this issue known to other average Americans so they don't make the same horrible choice I did. Such a shame we came here. You have lost a valuable lifelong client.

The Container Store In store service at container store in little rock by anne daniel

I usually don't have problem shopping here until today March 10, 2023 in morning. The cashier, Anne Daniel, was argumentative and combative and eventually I had to tell her she was pissing me off and so many words to go away. Please train your employees better. I have been a shopper here for couple years now. Even if I return another person's order and had their order sent to me in email, it shouldn't be a problem and is within a return policy. Her other coworker was a blessing and got items I wanted promptly. Thus, the given star rating instead of one. I typically don't give bad reviews but this should be addressed.

In the end, I've been shopper here

when accounts were still pop account and not insider program. For this unfortunate experience, I'll likely shop less in store and just get my items shipped to the house.

Most of the times if I do shop in store, the service was wonderful. You guys do great work in retail industry. I hope something gets addressed by this cashier.

My closet was made of elfa/rubber maid products. The materials they've used are ok quality some of them I do have to fix with a soft mallet since it got bent (shoe shelves) or exposed wiring in baskets. One or couple items I'll do an exchange if it isn't fixable or I got tired of fixing their products.

The Container Store Cashier experience

On Saturday, 06/04/22, at 14:01pm, I purchased four items totaling $103.38. After paying with my American Express card, the cashier was too busy speaking to a friend. He did not thank me for my purchase. As a customer, I believe it's polite to be thanked after buying a product or service. I've enjoyed your company over the years for the many products it provides.

The Container Store Credit card

I was approved for the container credit card and was told that it was 2 years interested free. I purchased what I needed and paid my card in time. When I noticed my balance was not going for. I saw there was over $800.00 on interest. I contacted the headquarters and revived a call back from manger Tarra who assured me that she contacted the Dade land store and all interest charges would be removed. I was to wait 2 billing cycles to see the credit reflected on my statements. I followed up and nut credits were applied in my statements. I contacted the customer service once again and was told that was not correct and there were not credit to be applied for interest. I was lied to twice and mislead to purchase the inventory. I will never purchase anything from this store I feel betrayed and lied to. I have never experienced something like this to be lied to and called a liar by a representative stating what I was saying was not the truth. How else would I know that the only one that can approve to interest credit would be the store I purchased the merchandise from. I was even told o was to that the store because they would become responsible for the interest charge on my credit card.

I am beyond disappointed and in disbelief that a store thing big with such a reputation would lie to get $800.00 in interest charge from their customer.

Desired outcome: I would like to receive my interest charge credited back to my credit card as I was promised

The Container Store Pikesville, MD Store

We visited the store on 2/4 at 7:00pm to see more custom closet options and gain more detailed information about the weight limits on the clothes bars, lighting options, etc. We looked for a salesperson for at least 15 minutes, and found no one. We finally found a salesman, Caucasian, thin brown hair, all black attire. He didn’t answer our questions about the weight limits of the closet bars, he RUDELY answered ‘you can’t just buy the bar by itself’.

Desired outcome: We left the store. We will not return, but will share this experience with everyone we know.

The Container Store Employee???

I visited your store at on June 12, 2020 wearing my facemask and gloves on. I really enjoyed shopping at your store. I got in line to pay behind two ladies already in line (which was the returns only line). This employee was apparently the manager because she yelled loudly at another employee to answer the pickup line that was ringing and rudely told me to wait on the other side of the check-out area as that was a returns only line. She kept telling me to stay back when I was at the register but then turned around and said okay now come forward now go back and gave me my merchandise in a bag and stepped way back like she was in fear of her life. I have to point out she wasn't wearing gloves like I was wearing. I feel she took it too far treating me like a leper and should not be working with the public in my opinion. I looked at my receipt for an employee name or number and couldn't find it. Needless to say I will never shop at that location and instead I will visit another store closer to my home.

The Container Store customer service - chat online

I contacted the customer service chat section early in the week about a issue I had with an incorrect item being sent. The agent was able to get the issue resolved and instructed me when I receive the correct item to contact them again and a UPS pickup would be issued for the incorrect item. I contacted the chat service again today and what should have been a 5 minute call to do a pickup was a 30 minute laborious process that even had a moment where the agent was willing to just get off the chat and not initiate the pickup. I have never found such a frustrating experience in a online chat forum for a company. This is complete opposite of the instore experience. Having made a couple of contacts with the chat feature in the past, Container Store really needs to work on some customer service alignment with this group.

The Container Store return of defective products

I have an Elfa door rack, a branded organizational system, owned by the Container Store. Three of the components, hanging bins, showed some rust so I returned them to the store. I expected that the store would stand behind their company-owned product and offer an exchange, refund or store credit. I spoke with three people -- a floor sales person, the floor sales manager and the cashier/clerk, seeking resolution. I've never had an issue with the many Elfa products I've purchased over the years at Container Store.

The Container Store Poor management

I had the most unpleasant shopping experience ever at the San Antonio Store today (12/11/2015). The aisles were cluttered with boxes and stockers to the point where customers could not access the aisles for shopping. Not just one or 2 aisles but the entire store was in disarray. I find this the most unprofessional way to run a business; if the store really want to stay in business. The shelves should be stocked when there are no customers present. I hope the company lost enough business today customers will never enter the store again. I also hope this was the CEO Tindell's decision or edict to do it this way so the owners can hold him personally responsible for the loss of business during this high volume shopping period. As for me I'm switching to Amazon for all my container needs. I don't think there is anything that could be done except firing the proper management employee that made the decision to stock shelves during business hours.

The Container Store Lousy service

Useless staff person gave me totally incorrect information, so I had to drive 30 miles each way to get the correct information, then after all that I got back home and the sales person had left part of my purchase out of the bag! I called and talked to the general manager Shari, she said she would send it. Almost a week gone by and NOTHING has arrived. Called container to make a complaint, but they " do things differently" God help us. Overall expensive, poor service, sales are a joke, definitely could find the products for a lot less and decent service. Big fancy store is a facade, truth is poor service and very expensive.

The Container Store Price Match Policy

It is amazing to me this company is still in business. Consumers, on average, are paying 40-50% more for products at The Container Store that could be bought for less at Target, Wal-Mart, or even Lowe's or Home Depot. Having recently bought a new house close to the store in Fairview, TX, I'll admit I got caught up with the "coolness" of The Container Store. In fact, I bought nearly $400 worth of various knick-knacks for my new home. All the little things that would make my new house more organized. We also bought a CosCo step stool for $29.95. Later, I found the exact same thing ... EXACT ... at a nearby store for $18.97. No problem, I'll go back to The Container Store as I'm sure they will price match. WRONG! First of all, The Container Store does not have a price match policy posted anywhere. No signs in the store, not on the receipts. In fact, on multiple visits, I randomly asked different associates about their price match policy and I received responses ranging from "well, sometimes" to "we don't do it ... ever" because "not all items are the same in various retailers". Anyway, when I went back to the store to price match, I dealt with Charlie (female employee), who may be a fine individual personally but has no business dealing with the public. As I asked questions about the price match policy, under what circumstances do they match, don't match, etc. she stopped me mid-sentence and said "Sir, we DON'T price match. If you don't like that, you can return the item." While I appreciate a direct approach, is this really the type of person you want representing your store/company to all the soccer moms in the Allen/Fairview, TX area? As I walked away in disbelief, I grabbed my wife and we started heading towards the exit, I saw Charlie with another associate somewhat snickering. I walked up to them both and asked them if they were willing to lose my business for life over $11 ... guess what the answer was?

While I appreciate a company's policy that protects them and hopefully ensures their longevity, at the end of the day it is about how a customer feels and will they return to shop at your store and tell their friends and family to do the same. Specialty stores and boutiques are becoming part of the past, not the future, as larger retailers and internet channels continue to take market share away from this space.

You have forever lost my business (over $11, by the way), and I will encourage my friends, family, and those that I work with to NEVER shop your store again. Their wallet will go much further (and for the same exact product), at a Target, Wal-Mart, or other various retailers.

As of this writing, I have still not heard anything from The Container Store in terms of my feedback regarding their price match policy. Their silence is deafening and highly consistent with the attitudes I received at store level.

The Container Store Fraud

Container Store is selling products containing BPA (Bisphenyl A, a carcinogen), and using bait and switch practices to sell the inventory. They'll tell you the product doesn't have BPA, but when you contact the manufacturer of the product, the manufacturer will acknowledge that the plastic does contain it. This is FRAUD! And the Container Store should not do this. It's bait and switch, it's illegal, it's unethical, and it's criminal. They're selling BPA plastic products that can harm you. And yet, they're trying to hide that fact. Do not shop at The Container Store. Find a reputable distributor. Shop at Walmart or Target or any other place. But don't shop at The Container Store. I will never shop there again! We must put stores that engage in criminal behavior out of business as soon as possible."

The Container Store Culture shift

Firing employees for purchasing product for other "non" dependents.

Maybe they should have just STLOEN it!

This is a sad period.

An employee of 8 years was suspended pending termination because he bought merchandise and gave it to his uncle. Once owned, who cares?

Where's the malice? Where's the deception?

After you own Itunes for a year, do you re-read the user agreement? Oh wait, did you ever read it? Of course he didn't.

Joan Manson IS the issue. She is the VP of loss Prevention / Risk Control & whatever may indulge her ego.

Point being, rather than addressing real issues (You know, like the over flowing stockrooms, Lack of safety training certificates, etc.) she is concerned about employees who have made purchases not in line with the recent "updated" employee agreement.

Absolutely absurd, yet very sad.

I hope Kip can travel and get a "pulse" from the employees... The dust has not settled.

For those who can remember, Pacific Stereo, once the "leader" in electronic home supply, went through a similar internal virus. Unfortunately, they did not heed the warning signs.

History is a valuable reference.

The Container Store Poor Service

This morning I was at the 908 W. North Ave location. I witnessed a cashier humiliate a customer for returning a product while the cashier next to her laughed. The cashiers name is Tiffany if I recall correctly. The women told the cashier she needed a larger rack but couldn’t afford it wherefore she was bringing the smaller one back. The cashier got loud and rude stating they only take things back if they don’t work you, you can’t rent our products. The cashier was outraged because the woman was making a return. I frequent this location and have often seen black employees treat black customers disrespectfully, while being friendly towards other races. I have no idea why these black employees find pleasure in shaming their own race. This has to be stopped; a place of business shouldn’t be the platform for this kind of behavior.
