Texas Tollways False charges

I received an invoice for toll-road charges that were not mine. I actually have not been in Texas for over 10 years. I am guessing that someone is perhaps driving a car I used to own and the charges they accrue are being billed to me.

I call to clear things up, and after waiting on hold for over an hour, someone did finally acknowledge that I was not responsible for paying the invoice. Now, one month later, I have received another invoice for new toll road charges. I have tried to call many, many times and the phone continually rings busy.

It is lucky for me that I know the person who lives in the house that I used to live in, otherwise I wouldn't even know I was being billed. And on top of that, I know these guys love to send past due invoices to creditors so, I would be screwed. However, that remains my biggest fear, I will continue to be billed for toll-road charges that are not mine and eventually I will be dealing with creditors and a credit rating that is being damaged.

Someone has got to do something about this completely incompetent gov. agency/business!

Texas Tollways Unauthorized billing

I recieved a bill for $51.95 because they claimed I hadn't paid a charge of $1.95 six months earlier. I found the copy of the check I had mailed in and a month later I got another bill. They claim the fifty dollars is a penalty for not paying. They seem to have several collection agencies and they make it confusing.

SEVERAL times they have pulled the same thing on me. A 10 dollar fee turns into a 50 dollar fee. They simply don't tell you about a charge so they can tack on late fees. Really shady and corrupt business practice. Tolls aren't worth it

Some of these tolls have been knowingly and intentionally scamming customers for years. How the scam works is based on plausible deniability. You receive a bill in the mail stating that you failed to pay the arbitrary amount, let's use a $2.00 for the sake of the argument. They then charge absurd "late fees" that are often 4-6 times higher than the price of the toll itself. How do they do it? They say that you were mailed an invoice and that you failed to pay it by the due date. You, being a person who always pays your bills on time, are left wondering, "Did I pay it? Did I forget? Did I accidentally throw the bill away tucked away in junk mail? Did USPS fail to deliver the item?" Truth: None of those are correct. The unscrupulous, privatized toll companies intentionally withheld sending you a bill at all. They wait 1 or 2 months from the period that you passed through a toll and are able to make any of the above excuses. There's no accountability. How can you prove it wasn't USPS's fault? How can you prove the toll company didn't mail it? That's the genius of the scam and they know it, which is why they have the balls to continue to do it. But mark my words, one day a large news conglomerate will begin documenting when their cars pass through the pay-by-mail toll and will be able to prove the scam. Until that time, just call them and they're usually willing to "generously waive the fees." Anyone who specifically complains, they usually relent. They just bank on the people who don't push the issue. Regardless, this is exactly why a government-regulated entity needs to be handling tolls, not a privately held and unethically run company.

All I did was co-sign a loan and my niece would not pay her charges because she was mad at me. She rang up about $75 in charges and after a year and the $25 per incident fee added the amount to be paid went to over $800. Finally got her to pay most of it but must of left a bit unpaid. I had no problem on my vehicle and paid on time, but the last bill the added collection charges on her car and I told them I released title years ago. To them I am still responsible because my niece never put the title in her name. Sorry, I can't make her change the title, and I won't be liable in the future for her not paying. I never drove the car and told them that and would like to pay my charges but they would have to remove hers from my bill. They were unwilling to do that and wanted to keep both vehicles combined in my name when she is on the original title too and the sole registered owner in Texas.

They also are sending bills on tolls for my father for charges in December of 2018 and he died in May of 2018. He too sold his vehicle a year earlier.

Just received $285 worth of toll bills from Tx. Worked there a couple of months and never went through a toll booth. Drove 29 miles to work 6 days a week and 29 miles back to my RV. 2.5 hours travel time every day. Just checked my route and Hwy 121 on my GPS is called Sam Rabon tollroad. I was on it approximately 5 miles each way daily. There was no signs or toll booths but it must have a camera somewhere along my 5 mile route. It's a shame we pay 35% of our checks in taxes then go to the store and pay 9-10% more of what we have left on purchases. Then the 30-40% extra for gas and 75-85% on highway diesel which is higher than gas but cost a small percentage of what it cost to produce gas. Since our tax money goes to lining politicians pockets and special interests, I guess we need to pay tolls for the highways that will beat you and your vehicle to death there in such bad shape. If not for the lottery funds, I can only assume we would be paying 90% of our salaries in taxes so we can get new laws that apply to everyone but the politicians. Guess who is exempt from the new laws created to make college students have to pay all of their student loans back? Politicians children. Who was exempt from Obamacare? politicians.

Who was responsible for the new bankruptcy laws that now mean even if you go bankrupt, you have to pay your credit card debts? Credit card companies who lined some pockets to get it passed. How many people went to jail for cooking the books at fannie mae and Freddie mac and causing the stock market crash? 0

We need to do something about this, if not for ourselves, for our children.

I KEEP GETTING NOTICE OF NON-PAYMENT ON THE SAME BILL I PAID LONG AGO. A $2.53 TOLL BILL HAS NOW COST ME $17.53 THEY CLAIM. I SUBMITTED ANOTHER PAYMENT JUST TO GET THEM OFF MY BACK. MY QUESTION IS...WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?

A friend from out of state borrowed my car and did not know about these crappy Austin tolls. This person turned the wrong way and then was trapped on a one way road and could not get off, so they had to get on and then get off as soon as possible. This person was on the toll for maybe 9 seconds and then got off. The bill was less than a dollar, the late fee made it 17 dollars because they mailed it to my office and I was out of state. If a private company charged that much of a late fee for ONE DAY OVER THEIR DEADLINE, THEY WOULD BE CHARGED WITH A FELONY FOR USURY FEES, BUT SINCE IT IS THE STATE THEY GET BY WITH THIS CRAP.

These toll people are a bunch of CHICKEN FUUKERS. EVERYONE HATES THEM.

I was furious literally with these two tollways. TxTag and MSB. At first I threw away the bill without opening it thinking it was a junk mail from MSB, the TxTag I was thinking it was a mistake because I did used any toll road. Then one day my son grabbed the envelope and telling me not to threw them away for it was a bill. I called and paid for it. I thought that was it. The CS lower down the bill. Back in March and April I have bill for two months, but I left and went outside the US. I took the bill with me hoping I can it from there. Internet connection was so poor the conversation was cut off and cant make the connection again. Came back very sick and end up forgetting all these. July 2nd week tried to call and pay, found out the amount was absurd. And was forwarded to collection agency. For the bill of less than $20 it add up to $93.28 after negotiation from $130. I was furious but paid it anyway, what choice do I have but to avoid ruining my credit. Somehow, my son find out also that I already sign up for a Tag and he cannot sign up under his name. I did not received the Tag. Then MSB charges me of $108 total again with discount for under $20 of charges. I was cussing, I cannot fathom the penalty of $15-$30. Why is it outrageous penalty. A penalty of $5 each transaction, I lost my mind over these and I literally cussed the management whoever came up with this idea. Why put the burden on poor widow woman like me. My son tried to pay but I have the bill with me. And then another $59 for another vehicle with less than $10 of charges. Whoever came up with these idea of penalty should be in prison. It should be illegal maybe not in this world, but hopefully in another world. Or they should be in 9th circle of Hell when they leave in this world.
