The company runs legitimate online contest for people who wants to win prizes, such as iPad, smart phones...etc by simply answering some quiz questions through sms. The questions are pretty simple, just some common sense and a little knowledge about things or events around your daily lives, or a simple search on Google can get you the answers right away. They are so simple even a kid of age around 12 to 14yo can breeze through without much help. The web page design is intended to get you focus on the quiz questions, big fonts and encouraging wording for every right answers sms-ed to lead you on to keep answering the questions. You gain points for every right answer, and to win the prize you have to accumulate the highest points (from what I understand from their customer service). The conditions are some very small print right below the quiz window, obviously that is intentional and can easily be missed even by adults. They charge SGD3 for every sms sent to answer a question. Even if you sent a wrong answer you will still be charged.

The quiz questions seemed endless. On a 5 minutes window, you can easily choke up to 30 to 50 sms sent...that's about SGD90 to SGD150. But there is a cap of SGD500 max. Which means the quiz session will end once you have choked up SGD500 total in sms sent. And since the quiz questions are so simple, the competition to get all the questions right is very high. Which means, there's no guarantee you will win the prize even if you score %100 on the quiz.

How much does a highest end iPad cost? With such contest, even if there are only 5 participants who are fully aware of the terms and conditions and max out at SGD500, the company will make enough money for 2 or 3 iPads at retail prices. I believe the website is accessed by hundreds, if not thousands daily. Just a fraction of the total daily visitors who would join the contest, be it completing all the quiz questions or not, the company will profit handsomely. So if you are so desperately wanting to own an iPad, it's much cheaper to just buy one. Even if you only send 1 sms, that's SGD3 down the drain for absolutely nothing.

I'm writing this not because I have participated in it, but some kids who used my computer did and cost me SGD51. Anyway, long story on how it happened. Had I not interrupted the going-ons, I'll be few hundred dollars poorer.

I will not post the URL here, because I do not want to send more traffic to their site. So beware of such online contest. I'd recommend that you ask your mobile service provider to block this company Tazoki Pte Ltd before you or your kids accidentally gets into it.

So are they scam? You decide.

Sad to hear that.

- First thing you need to do is get your mobile service provider to block the service from you. Just call them, they are able to do that.
- Asking your mobile service provider to waive or refund you the money is impossible. They won't do it, as they have absolutely no control over that company, and they are powerless to do any good for you.
- If you are from Singapore, you can go to CASE and file a report. They will then help to request your mobile service to waive off the charge and from ever appearing on your bill again. But there is a charge, call them to find out.
- Lastly, you can choose not to pay the charge at all and risk having your mobile contract terminated with penalty.

This company is 100% scam. It cost me $100 Australian before I realised what was happening. It should be shut down. Telcos should not be cooperating with the scammers. It should be easy for a telephone company to recognise what is going on and simply deny the scammers access to the telco customers.

It is not fair. I'm planning to complain about this case.
