Thugs who are snatching our money and making profits...

In April I applied an internet connection to Tata Indicom Broadband. I paid for 6 month 128 kbps unlimited package. Since I am staying in a rented flat, at the time of taking the connection, I asked the company representative that if I need to change the flat, could the connection be transfered. He said it would be transfered wherever I go subject the company is serving in that new area.

Around 20 days later, I had to change my flat and for the convenience, I take a new flat in the same locality around 600 meters away from the older one. After shifting, I requested for connection shift to the company and many times talked to customer care, but nothing had happened. At last they are saying that the company is not providing connection in my society, so it cannot be transfered and according to No refund policy, company will not refund my money also. Here at the new location, I came to know that the company does provide internet services to the adjacent building.

I communicated this to company people that a cable can be drawn from that building to my building but they are making excuses.

Now I feel embarrassed and cheated. If this can happen in the city like Mumbai where all the corporates are located, I just can wonder that what would be going on with people in the other states of India.

Can somebody tell me where I can go and complain so that at least I can get my money back for the remaining period (not utilized because the internet connection which I took is active till October 2007).

I completely agree with you and the name "THUG" you have used to describe these buggers

I have recently got my Tata broadband shifted at my new house and had a very bad and annoying experience.

They were least bothered about my shifting request. It seems that they are only interested in new customers and don't even bother about there existing ones! It was me going to their office, calling them up and reminding them about my request. ( I would have loved to switched off this connection and took a new one if time permitted) Finally after long time they responded.

One more thing I noticed during shifting is - here is the ICC cable company which does cabling for tata indicom and they take 800Rs. just to put the cable plus tata takes 500 as shifting charges. This ICC cable company doesn’t give receipt (denies to give). That means its clear that its illegal practice which is in turn supported by tata. (as this was informed by tata also)
First thing is its illegal to take such money and second, if a big company like tata can not afford this cabling charges then why a consumer should!!!

Also Tata have ridiculous plans for each month and now on the top it they have a starting plan of 1000.

In all those who have not taken this connection should not even look at it.
There are many ISP's available and amongst them BSNL is the best.
