We chose to come to Hong Kong to celebrate my wife's 50th Birthday, and we are writing to tell you howDISGUSTED we were to find out that we were "RIPPED OFF" and taken advanatage as a tourist and visitor of your country by one of your shops in Hong Kong.

We bought a pair of Bushnell Binoculars from SUNSHINE CITY -Shop 2A Ground Floor, CHUNG KING MANSION 36-44 NATHAN ROAD T.S.T KOWLOON H.K. for cash AU $240. But to our horror and disgust once we got back in Australia we found the price to be ONLY AU$ 60.

We want to protest in the strongest possible terms and want a refund on our money for being so over RIPPED OFF by your sales people.

I have attached all of the necessary documentation for you to confirm the genuine nature of our complaint.

I look forward to your response and a speedy refund of our money.

You wont like my response, but here goes. How can you possibly think you making a poor deal warrants getting your money back? And to make it worse you blame the entire city? Of course tourist stops are going to sell overpriced, and some times low quality fares. They do it to make money!

Had you brought your own binoculars you wouldnt be in this position. You could have even bought them at the local shops instead of waiting to buy in a tourist area.

Did you use the binoculars while there? And now you want your money back because you decided to buy them?

No thanks.

Also, it is NOT a wise choice to post a picture of someones passport on the internet. Not wise at all.

Hi Joe,

I just had the same experience - I bought a camera yesterday (unfortunately, I'm back now to my home country). I bought Nikon Coolpix L100 at 3, 500 HK $. Actually, I was aiming to buy Canon G11 (@ 2650 HK $ only) or Canon SX20 IS (@ 2150 HK $ only)but the sales guy suggested that I take Nikon as performance-wise was better - which I personally checked out and indeed it was better in terms of resolution, etc.
Based on the 2 Canon units, theor prices were much cheaper than on internet. And I assumed that the price he was giving me for Nikon was at a dicsount (almost at par with Canon).

I just checked the retail price of Nikon Coolpix L100 and it only costs at 1800 HK $ - more than half!!!

Were you able to contact them again? I'm planning to as they were also pleasant when making deals with us yesterday - no trace of evil on their faces. I mean, I was seeing that they had no intention of fooling us.

Hi Lis,
I am sorry that you have been anthervictim ofthese "scumbags".
I wrote in Hong Kong to the following people and got a somewhat result. I never got any money refunded, but they tried to "Shut" me up with an MP$ player probably worth $ HK50. As they were never going to reinburse any difference in mony, I took the "bribe", but told them and the Consumer Council that when I go back there, I will front them up face to face and let them know undert no uncertain terms what I think of the stinky practises!!

those people in sunshine city along nathan rd are cheaters.Visitors should be careful in going to that place..i wonder why the hongkong government are allowing them to operate
with these kind of people..victimizing tourist.

do not go to sunshine city.ground floor chungking mansion.they will give you defective
unit once you agreed to buy or after your credit card had been swiped.
