Scam and cheating!
Complaint Rating:
Company information: Star Vacations Club Arizona United States
We were also scammed by this "company". I say that word loosely. We DID however manage to get our money back, but I will say it wasn't easy. We went to the presentation in Nov. of 2007 in Gilbert, AZ at the location off of Guadalupe Rd. The next day, I had a sick feeling in my stomach and started looking online to see what I could find about the company and then I came across this website and I knew we made a HORRIBLE mistake. That was a Sunday. I knew we had 3 calendar days - per their contract - to cancel. So, that day we wrote a very formal letter to the company requesting our $ back. We had the letter notarized and mailed in Mon. morning certified, overnight, and with return receipt - It cost almost $20. to mail, but it was worth it. We called 2 days later to verify they received it and they did. The lady told us it could take up to 30 days to receive the refund. In the meantime we contacted our CC company and disputed the charge. Well, 30 days passed and no refund. We called three different times and got the run around (supposedly the person in charge of refunds was on vacation, stepped out, at lunch, etc...) So, finally we called with a lawyer (friend) on the line as well and demanded to be placed on hold until we spoke wit someone. The lawyer did the talking at this point, but finally the person said that our card would be credited that day, and it was. Long story short - be persistent. Our lawyer friend told us that companies like this depend on you just giving up because they make it so difficult. If you keep record that you followed the laws (3 day rule) you'll have evidence if you ever have to take them to court. As far as that stupid bag they gave us, we sent it back after we received our refund. They said they would charge us $250 if we didn't. We sent it with return receipt though.
