Sonic Drive-In unfair firing of employee

I just want to complain about the way that my 16 year old daughter was treated at Sonic today.
The manager was trying to make her clean the ceiling inside the building, and because her elbow hasbeen broken from a horse throwing her, and having to undergo surgery on her elbow, she is unable to reach high enough to clean the ceiling, and she is also terrified if heights.
(By the way she was a carhop.) This man fired her even though she told him why she could not perform this job.I think this is very unfair to her, and I think her job should be restored. She had worked there several months, and was doing a great job.

It doesn't matter what she works as, if you are told to do a job you do it. I can under stand that she has a bad elbow but she could have used her other arm. Also, is the feet of the ground. This is not a securely harassment charge and I'm sure the manager was confused that she could preform her duties as a car hop caring someone's up to ten pound trays but couldn't clean a ceiling. ..? Can she not clean her room or wash dishes and do other house hold duties as well? Im in fountain and find myself as car hop or drivein once in awhile in the kitchen. A good employee is a versitile employee! They hire you for the store not just one position.

Take these ### to court and teach them a lesson they won't forget. Sounds like a

sexual harassment case to me. LITIGATE ON THESE GROUNDS. Tell them she was doing her job and deservesw to be reinstated. Burns me up when young motivated people-good citizens- want to work for a living and instead get the good ole' heave ho for no valid reason.

Sonic Drive-In crooked, unprofessional company

Hellpp mee! Hello everyone! My name is ashli auguillard. I'm a junior in high school and just made 16 this summer, so I got a job at sonic drive-in in june. I've been workin great there! I get an averagr of 60 dollars in tips a day and have many regular customers who enjoy my service, but it seems that my positive attitude and innocense had been taken advantage of by the managers there. The store manager is the mother of 18 year old steven who's a manager, and he's datint misty, another manager there. Steven is very unprofessional. He poorly greets customers with his shirt at his knees. He and misty would constantly discuss their sexual affairs at work. I'm only sixteen but I know that they don't follow correct procedure. They always mess up my check and i'm left waiting till the next paycheck to get the previous paycheck. They constantly close the store from 5-30 minutes early. Lately i'd been coming up short with my money every day, so i'd have to give up my tips. Something's crooked about those people because i'm not the only one who's been having this problem. One employee even told me that I was blind if I couldn't tell what was going on. A couple of days ago steven threw cheese at me and I was fed up, so I cursed him out. He told this to his mother but hadn't mentioned him throwing cheese at me or calling me a "hoe." I was fired. Everyone at work was surprised and mad. I help everyone with everything and keep their spirits up. I'm an amazing carhop and have a 4.0 gpa at school. I just don't see why I was fired for cursing. They curse all the time with all employees. Plus, misty cursed everyone out then quit, and was given her job back by the store manager [mother-in-law] within a day. It's because she's the store manager's son's girlfriend. There are many worse problems that involve legal matters that go on with this place. I don't know what to do. It isn't right. What professional company do I complain to. Help!

Sonic Drive-In hours,an cololr discrimination

a new manager has just came into sonic as (general manager) jason blagman (white man) who has 3 years of manager training who ios being trined by thaduus toney(balck Macn) who has been there at pratt location for 12 years. The area manger(nancy grissom) is bearly there, Employees have had may comlaints about there hours an have been made plenty of promises nothing has been done about cut hours but they put an now hirirg sign outside the building and have hired at least 8 or 9 workers since. The worker being trained have more hours then people been the 2 to 3 years and they send us home early from work saying labor rates are to high but are still hiring.Everyone who is white has 20 + hours and anr ranking 40 hours a week as carhops. ### manages who are white are getting 50+ hours a week.Black carhops rank 20- hors a week, and black ### managers are ranking 40- hours a week something has to be done. No one is able to mantain a lifestyle with hours like that this week the gave 4 out of 5 balck employees 7 hours for the week. People with the mopst cut hours have childern and have bills and are unable to make end meet and with the ecomony the way it is there is no way for you to find work immeditley.

I do not agree with the presumed racism. I am a manager and have worked with Mr. Tony. He was receiving almost 50+ hours. Due to his health problems, he was reduced. Your hours are based off of many different factors: attitude, attendence, strengths, sales, service, respect, and effort. If you are not getting the hours you want, then change yourself; and don't throw the race card out there. My store is over 80% black, and they all receive 25-40+ hours.

Sonic Drive-In oragne cream slush - extra creamy

order a large orange cream slush - extra cream - extra thick - when brought out was not as I ordered - waitress was rude - said it was right, they did add extra cream - after all it is a slushie. The slushie was watery - there was no extra cream - i am tired of the seervice from this location - used to get a straw and spoon, because they used to be thick - a customer is entitled to receive what they asked for and paid for - this location has gone downhill - I called manager at the store and she could of cared less - did not even give her name - when I asked for manager - reply was this is she - never offered to correct next time we were in - guess one less customer does not matter to them - but word of mouth to others will mean more customers lost.

you idiot, Its a slushie, its SUPPOSED TO BE watery, AND ALSO, YOU CAN'T ADD EXTRA "CREAM" BE SPECIFIC! There's ICE-CREAM and then there's WHIP-CREAM. The slushie machine sometimes also malfunctions so the slushie can be either VERY thick, or VERY watery.

Sonic Drive-In awful customer service

I went to Sonic to get a milk shake. When I walked in an employee was standing with her back to the counter talking to another employee. Employee #1 glanced at me then walked away never acknowledging me. A short time later she returned, still not saying a word to me. When it became apparent that she was not walking up to the counter I just told her I wanted a milk shake. Up to now she still had not said a word to me. She went, made the shake and came back, rang up my order and said "$2.04". I gave her the money she handed me the shake and walked away. I said "thank you" and left. I think it is very poor customer service not saying Hi, Good-bye, Thank you, kiss my...

For me to complain about food service it has to be pretty bad. I took three of my kids to Sonic for supper because to had a busy day and did not feel like cooking. The first girl to take my order was apparently new because she turned my over to another. Four times I gave her my order and four times she called it back wrong. I was not speaking fast nor did I stutter. I wanted a cheese burger with bacon and cheese only fries and a coke, kids cheese burger with bacon, cheese, and mayo, tots, and a sprite, kids cheese burger with cheese, bacon, tomatoes, pickles, and mayo, fries, and a sprite. Why did I get 2 cheese burgers one with tomatoes and pickles and a root beer, a kids burger with mustard one sprite and two tots; and a snotty attitude from the one taking the order and the one who brought my food.

Sonic Drive-In damage to my blackberry

On 7/12/09 I vistited the drive thru at sonic.
I placed my order and then waiting to get to the window. When I pulled up, the lady at the window (Glenda) handed me my route 44 cherry dr. Pepper but the lid was just barely on! The drink went all over me, and every where else ~ all the way to the passanger side! My blackberry was charging in the back of the cup holder wich was now submerged in 2"of soda! Gledna ~ just shut the window! She did not even apologize once! She gave me napkins ~ only after I requested them.
I pulled around and went inside. I asked for a manager, and after waiting almost five minutes a lady named ely came out to see me. I explaind to her what happened and that my phone was no longer working and she just told me to hold on. She came back with a receipt with her manager's number on the back. Wasim [protected]. I asked her if I could use their phone to call him. After a few minutes she brought me a phone but the call would not go through. It sounded like it was off the hook somewhere in the resturant. So I asked if it was off the hook or something. A few minutes later ely came back out and gave me someone's cell phone. I tried and trid to get a hold of wasim, but I only got his voice mail. I could not leave him a message at the time to call me back, because my phone was not working. I asked ely if he had another number and she said,"no, he does not have a house phone. Only a cell phone."
Not once did I get any kind of apology! I went home and went to my neighbors house to use their phone and called wasim again and again. 5:20pm, 5:30pm, 5:40pm & 5:43pm. I left a message for him to call me back and left my friends phone number. Here it is the next day, and he still has not called me back. My blackberry, my memory card & my charger are all fried! I cannot believe the amount of unprofessionalism that I have had to deal with!

Sonic Drive-In under age employment

I have every reason to believe that a 13 year old is working for tips in uniform and all at the lexington, oklahoma location. I know that is illegal and thought that you should know and address it and take care of the situation. I believe that the 13 year old works nights with her mother. I do not know how they got it to where the 13 year old is working there but they do. It needs to stop, its not right! Please take care of this situation and thank you

Thanks,
T. M.

Better than this 13 year old being in a gang, playing video games, watching tv or being sexually molested in an after school program, YMCA or Church program. I'm sorry, I started working when I was 12 washing cars and I learned early the value of the dollar.

I hate how people think this kind of thing is horrible or something. . . this is the BEST thing that a 13 year could be doing. Take care of your own and stay out of everyone else's business.

1) Sonic would get in a hellstorm of legal trouble if they knowingly hired an underage employee.
2) In Oklahoma, you can generally start working around age 14-15 with a work permit.
3) Sometimes teenagers can look much younger than their actual age.

Get off it, the family is obviously struggling to make ends meets. Not everyone can afford a third diamond-encrusted crystal chandelier like you. Would you rather support them on Walfare?

Sonic Drive-In services @ the hasbrouck heights sonic on rt 17

I was mistreated at Sonic located in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ- I felt that the security guard singled me out b/c I was ASIAN!

On June 28th, 2009, my husband and I decided to visit Sonic located in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ. We were so excited b/c we always wanted to try Sonic and get the service at the car spot. The wait to go into the Sonic parking took us about 50 minutes, there was a police officer there to assist with the traffic since it was off of one of the major Highway. As soon as we got into the line waiting for the parking spot, we were told by this big security guy named "Dave" that we had to use the drive thru. We explained to him calmly that we waited on the long line to experience the "sonic car spot" service. He tells us that he was told from the inside that people had to start using the drive thru, so we had to move to that line. He wouldn't give me a choice to wait on the line for the car spot, so we moved to the drive thru. The car right behind us got into the same argument but that guy to stay on the line! I got angry so I got out of my car and ask to speak to Manager to one of the girls that work there. As I waited for the manager to come out, I was literally shaking b/c of what had happen to me. I looked around, and there wasn't any Asian working there or even there for the service. The big security guard comes to me, all I said was I want to talk to you manager, and he had the nerve to get the police officer monitoring the traffic!

The office made us leave, so I yelled to the security guard "Dave" YOU ARE ONE RUDE PERSON! Then turned around. I saw that the manager was standing out side so when I started to go to him, the officer told me to leave again. The manager didn’t even ask me if anything was wrong but walk back inside. I didn’t even get to talk to the manager and when I got home to call the corporate office- all they did was take down the compliant and said someone will get back to me. It’s been three weeks already. I have not received any calls from either Sonic or the corporate office. I have been telling everyone I know not to visit any of the Sonic. I felt humiliated when they told me to leave. I felt that they were racist towards me because I was Asian and I was singled out to go through the drive thru without a choice to remain on the car spot line.
I would never ever go to Sonic- and I hope everyone in the world knows how rude and unprofessional they are.

I think u are blowing ur experience out of proportion! Race had absolutely nothing to do with it. U say it's because u are asian. Asian meaning indian or asian meaning oriental? The police officer that was run over at that Sonic was hit by an asian (oriental) guy because he wanted to force his way into Sonic but the cop wouldn't let him due to overcrowding. The "asian" got angry, hit the cop with his car, and took off. Come to think of it, maybe that "asian" was u, trying to get retribution for the wrong that was done to u in your sick, twisted mind!

Hold on there cowboy! cowgirl! or cowperson! I don't think the fact that you were asian had anything to do with it. I have gone into some very good chinese restaurants and have never seen any blacks or whites employed there. But I believe that's good because it adds to the charm and ethnicity. The real deal, you know? But I don't think race is the issue. "I was literally shaking b/c of what had happen to me". Are you kidding? I think sometimes in life you need to pick your battles and this wasn't one to be causing a ruckus over. The only humiliation in this situation is that of what you brought on to yourself. It will take some soul searching and a few glimpses into the mirror to figure that one out. The security guard was only telling you what the powers that be on the inside was telling him what to do. Getting out of your car presented a danger because if it was crowded as you say it was, you put yourself in danger of possible getting hit by a car or whatever. How is security going to know that you aren't some crazed lunatic (and they come in all shapes, sizes and colors)? After all, it was kind of crazy to wait 50 minutes for a Sonic car spot "experience"? I would like to assure you that you did not miss anything. Nope! The food was HORRIBLE when I went and not anything that I would wait for. It's not like in the good ole' days when you placed your order and they would bring a tray out to you with the grub on it and you could help yourself. The place doesn't even trust you with the trays. You place your order, they bring it out to you and hand the stuff to you. Kind of like if you ordered it through the drive through. The only difference is that you are parked in a parking slot and some employee walks your order out to you and not paper bags like a take out order. Trust me, you will be able to find a spot once the novelty wears off and it will. That's only if you want to go back. Really! How long would you have waited for a sonic experience?

You were not discriminated against because you are Asian - you were directed to do something within reason on someone else's property and you got angry. You want to blame anyone and everyone you can and the first thing you can think of is racism. 50 minutes for the "Sonic Experience?' I could care less what your nationality/race is - you strike me as a spoiled, inconsiderate person. The security guard is there for a reason - listen to him and follow the directions or leave. No one working there is Asian? So what? I've been to many Chinese Restaurants where the employees are ALL Asian and have had poor service - should I complain and say it's because I am of European descent? Dear Lord - it's a hamburger you ### - get over it!

Hello,

I felt compleded to write a response to this, I am not affliated with Sonic nor are any of my relatives, I understand and do sympathize with your problem. But the simple fact is Sonic on RT 17 has been a mad house since the day it opened. NO ONE Working there not even the cops that are directing traffic were prepaired fully for the madness that Sonic has created and the Sonic Craze over a fast food burger.. Btw I had Sonic twice and I would take a good McDonalds Big mac over a sonic burger any day of the week... Sonic does have some banging shakes though.. But back to my point, I work in the club business sometimes when we reach legal capacity we have to turn people away and make them wait in long lines.. it really does suck, pardon my french but what else can you do? If you dont want to wait try going there when they first open or earlier in the day. But as it stands right now that Sonic on 17 is total chaos and I heard today that a cop got hit by a car, now I dont know any of the details of the story.. But a cop allegedly was struck by a car on rt 17, I dont know if that person was trying to go to Sonic or if it was a direct result of Sonic, but one thing is for sure... If there wasnt this hoopla and craze over Sonic, this would have never happened...

Sonic Drive-In Found plastic on my sandwich !

I have had numerous problems with this sonic. A few months ago we went through the drive through and saw one of the workers working with food in the back, with a small baby on her hip. She was preparing food with a baby in her arms !
Today we went through there, and ordered 3 chicken strip sandwiches. I ate half of mine, and when a piece of chicken started to slide off the bun, I opened it to fix it back, and found 3 small pieces of hard black plastic on my sandwich ! One was the size of my pinky fingernail. God knows what I ate, as I had already eaten half the sandwich, and my children also ! how can a worker not see that they are putting harmful items on a sandwich, OR, was this done on purpose ?

I am an employee of a Sonic chain. I am in the supervisory field for the ArkLaMiss region.

The way we handle these types of complaints, for if you take it back, is like this:

1. You would be instructed to notify the supervisor or owner, NOT the GM, of this incident. If you notify the GM, he will try to skirt the issue.
2. You will need to have retained at least the sandwich with the contaminate and in its original condition if at all possible. The reason being is that if the issue goes to court, which it probably won't, then you'll need evidence or the judge will throw the case.
3. Do not let the issue go. Believe me, Sonic will hope that you forget about it!
4. Hire an attorney and sue. This is actually against health code so you do have a case. It's called foreign food contaminate which violates health code regulations in every state.
5. They will eventually settle out of court if you have hard evidence.

As far as the baby in the kitchen-

This is a violation of many state and federal laws and the management could be fired, at the least, for that type of infraction. Worst case scenario is a closure of the location. This is an issue to be taken up with your local labor office. You could also take the complaint to Sonic. However, they will handle it all internally and you'll never know if the problem has been corrected. I encourage you to report this if nothing else because this poses a serious health and safety risk to the child.

PS: All sonic workers are not paid $2.13. Only the carhops qualify for tip-credit and some sonic locations elect to pay more. For instance, the chain I am employed with pays $3.50.

That's awful what you got on your sandwich. I would definitely complain. That could really hurt someone. As far as the baby thing, that is unfortunate. I feel so sorry for the people that work at sonic. They get paid $2.15 an hour ( I know cause my room mate works there) +tips. On a busy day my room mate brings back a little more than $3 in tips. She would go work somewhere else but there isn't anywhere else that is hiring. I know cause I'm looking for a job too and I am having hardly any luck. That poor girl is working her ### off to feed her baby and doesn't have anyone to look after him/her and sure can't afford a babysitter. I think sonic has gone too far. They really don't care at all about their employees. How can anyone live off of that?

Sonic Drive-In - deceptive pricing

Sonic Not-so-Special 5 for $5.95 Funny thing how advertising works for this company. Most days I pass through Sonic (which avgs 3 times a week) they have signs posted on their marquee and around the drive-thru and the drive up window with their “5 for $5.95 Tuesday special”. Of course, today is Tuesday so I head over to get their advertised special...

Sonic Drive-In over charge

I went to Sonic in a hurry but since Sonic is usually very fast I figured 25 minutes to order and get to class would be fine. First it took 15 minutes just for a wrap and a drink cutting me down to almost no time at all to actually eat the thing. The credit card machine outside was not saying my total so when they came out they had to take my credit card inside. She gave me my receipts with my credit card and I left in a hurry. Later on that day I went to my online bank to check on some things and I realized that my charge for sonic was $12.95 instead of the $4.63 it was suppose to be for my meal. I checked the receipts the lady had given me and all she gave me was a grill receipt no credit card receipt. I called the store at that moment hoping they could just take the last 4 digits of my card and check their receipts so they could see the problem and fix it right then. Thats when the lady told me she couldn't do anything about it and I would have to call back a different day and try to get ahold of 1 of 2 other managers. The next day when I called I was told those 2 managers would not be in for a few days. So I explained to the manager on duty what had happened and she told me to bring up my bank statement and the receipts I have showing my total and they would give me a refund. Since I do visit Sonic almost on a daily basis I called the 800 number just to make sure it was the right store number and I wasn't confused on a previous visit else where. I gave them the store number and they told me the store which I was right about. They asked me multiple times to tell them what happened so I did but explained how they already told me I would receive my refund when I went up there. One of the 2 managers that was away even called me asking me some questions wanting to know who the carhop who took my receipt looked like and explained how to do what the other manager told me to do and I would receive my refund. When I went to the store the following day (as thats when I had time to do it) the manager who the day before told me to bring up only my bank statement and receipt than told me how I would need to have the bank statement that is sent in the mail before she could do anything. I told her how I only get online statements and this is what it is. She then told me how since it was most likely the banks fault and none of their own I would need to go to the bank and have them print out the same paper but the charge needed to be posted the day that I had visited the Sonic (which she already knew it would not be posted that day as how often are they really posted that day but it would say the date it was purchased) and how I would then need to go back up there only on the days and hours she was working. I then told her how both her and another manager told me this is all I needed and I didn't think it was right that I would have to find the time in my busy schedule to go to the bank when they are open and then go to her only when she is there and when they aren't busy and when she can get this all done. I was here now and it was their mistake and they needed to fix it. I even called them just a few hours after the incident happened so they could themselves find the mistake on the machine so they would know I was telling the truth but they had refused to even listen to me really that day. She then continued to say how it could by a slim chance be their mistake but it was most likely the banks fault or my own fault and how there was nothing she could do. They more than double charged me and than refused to give me a refund because supposedly they do not make any mistakes. They even sent me a card for a free sandwich saying that hopefully that would make up for the events that had happened but still are refusing to give me my refund. Before this event we visited Sonic almost daily (there was actually 3 visits to Sonic that day once from my husband, my visit for my lunch, and then before I found out about what happened a visit for drinks. Even a visit for a small snack the next day since I was in full faith they were going to fix their mistake). Since the refusal of my refund (slightly over a week ago) Sonic has only been visited once. It was at a different location for some drinks and that will be the last time we visit it (they had no ice and did not even tell us until they brought us our hot sweet tea what a waste of our money that time too). Sonic use to be our favorite place for everything and now its the one place we are avoiding now and plan to for the rest of our lives since they make absolutely no mistakes and their consumers are the ones who make all the mistakes!

Sonic Drive-In fast food service

When placing my order I specifically asked for one ranch dressing dipping sauce. I like this with my oinon rings in which I ordered. When I received my order it didn't have any ranch so I pressed the order button a second time to ask for it to be brought to me by one of the car hops. It was like 20minutes later when I started getting irratated. I started to ask one of the nearby car hops to please get me a ranch when she told me to press the button for it, I told her that I already had and then she said, " well then I guess it will come to you eventually." What else was I suppose to do? I had been sitting there for a while already and mow my oinon rings were cold. So I left. I know it sounds silly but it was very aggravating and to be completely honest it wasnt the first time.

Grilled cheese sandwich was soggy, greasy and Where's the cheese? Have had in other states and they have been GREAT! Suggestion: Add extra cheese so we can taste the cheese and clean grill more often.

We went to the Sonic drive in at Lytle Texas on our way to Laredo. We waited 20 minutes for a oreo blast, chocolate shake and a molten cake sundae. And there was no cake in my molten cake sundae! Worst service ever! In the future Dairy Queen will be our ice cream stop!

Sogginess could be from foil bag.
I work for Sonic and this is a regular complaint.
We have looked into it.
Cheese is a set amount per sandwich.
If you want extra cheese, the base Sonic price is 50cent/slice.

Sonic Drive-In food

I ordered two number one's today. One was with cheese, one no cheese. I was charged for the cheese, but I didn't get it on my order. Both orders were cold. I called to talk to the manager and a girl who answered the phone said that they were to busy for him to talk. I told her that I wanted to talk to him anyways, which I did. They have made mistakes on my orders before, and I just wanted them to be more careful on filing the orders.. Thank you. June 23rd. Mary bussey. [protected]

Sonic Drive-In ruined my car interior

I ordered a Rt 44 Sweet Tea from the local Sonic Drive-in at Superstition Springs in AZ. I'm extremely upset about this because I'm driving in a nice brand new 2009 Chevy Avalanche with a pristine, off the factory line interior that had not even one speck of dirt on it at this point. The person who handed me my cup had wrapped a napkin around it which made it hard for me to notice that it was leaking. There must have been a huge defect in the cup because when I took it out of the cup holder, that little napkin band-aid that the ignorant employee slapped on there gave way and the entire cup split in half, leaving my beautiful new truck interior covered in a syrupy brown mess. I was also soaked but I didn't care so much about that, I'm easily washable. My truck isn't so easy to clean all of the upholstery, floor boards and console. I have to spend all this money to get the interior cleaned and I am royally PO'd. I'm sure if their employee wouldn't have wrapped a napkin around the cup they obviously knew was leaking and defective, this wouldn't have happened. I didn't think much of it at the time since employees often wipe off the cups or hand them to you with napkins. On top of all this, I call the store this happened at and their manager was rude an unapologetic saying they are not responsible - and trying to call their 800 number to reach someone at corporate has been a nightmare as well. The phone rings once and goes fast-busy. I will continue calling and sending letters to corporate until I get someone to listen to me and my cleaning bill paid for my brand new truck. Otherwise I am going to post this story everywhere I can and at [redacted], so everyone knows their stance on this situation; if the employees give you a drink in a defective cup don't expect them to give a damn about what property they ruin. Anyone who gets a nice new car they worked so hard for should be able to relate to how upsetting this is. To have your spotless new car interior wrecked by a wage slaves carelessness, and adding insult to injury the manager doesn't give a damn and you can't seem to get a hold of corporate.

I don't give a damn what any of you say, I don't need to prove myself to any of you low-lives sitting around making rude comments about someone you don't even know. This site is a joke compared to others like it, its more of a kids trolling and chat forum based on this and several other complaints I read. I am sticking with real sites like [redacted] from now on, and would advise any potential new posters to this forum reading this to do the same. You guys can keep posting garbage amongst yourselves for whatever reason, because I come off like a ###, you're jealous that I'm successful, or maybe I have struck a nerve with a lot of you making the comment about wage slaves. It doesn't really matter to me. The bottom line is: I won, the customer was right (as always) so I'm done with it.

I'm not sure if there's any way to remove a complaint from this website or if it stays up here like [redacted], if that is the case then I have to add the following:

I am retracting my complaint against Sonic Drive-In and this particular location. The DM I spoke with was very courteous and the situation was settled much to my approval. I apologize for the virulence in my original post directed toward Sonic employees, but not at the posters on this forum. I no longer have any resentment whatsoever toward Sonic/its employees/ etc after my concerns were addressed, and withdraw my comments about this store. I will not be updating this board again.

Update by narinaka420
Jun 19, 2009 3:21 pm EDT

I have to amend my complaint here. How ironic that I get someone higher up in their company to talk with me the same day I post this to the internet, after weeks of trying. I wanted to add that finally I got in touch with the DM and he was wonderful, he really sympathized with me and handled the situation in a way that satisfied me. This employee has been fired since the incident happened and I'm assuming for having numerous complaints about their ineptitude. I'm certain I can't take credit for that, even though it would make me even happier to know that this ### paid for my truck with their job (and good luck finding somewhere to work in this economy - HA!)
They offered me free drinks, and I really ought to go down there just to rub it in the idiot store manager's face that YES, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MY PROPERTY DAMAGE. However, I'm not going to patronize the place ever again, I'm not going to take the chances of having my drinks spit into. Having my cleaning bill paid for was more than enough. As far as the comments go - for one, I was never uncivil or disrespectful when dealing with the employees l in anyway even after they were rude - I'm not going to take that from anyone, and I'm just calling spade a spade so disgruntled wage slave sounds a perfect description to me.
My parents didn't pay for my truck or my cleaning bill - I bought my own truck and Sonic paid the cleaning bill so you can go f*ck yourselves both. My parents don't pay my way, I'm college educated and have a real career, I think I have earned the right to be pissed off when a lowly wage slave is rude to me and through THEIR carelessness ruins the interior of my beautiful truck that I busted my ### to earn.
I hope you get screwed over someday and someone tells you the same things you just said to me. Since I'm sure you're dregs of society, no manager would even take you seriously if this happened to you at a fast food place, you'd just look like another bum trying to cop a free meal. Think before you leave a stupid comment on someone's complaint. A word of advice if you don't want to look like a 13 year old boy fresh from the 4chan forums or a sick individual with a warped mind & sense of humor who thinks child abuse is funny, you should pick a different name than "ipunchbabies"

Sonic Drive-In people at drive up window

My husband and I used the drive through to order two drinks (1 large vanilla coke & 1 small slushy drink). We ordered and drove around; there was one car in front of us so we were sitting with a plain view through the glass door entrance/exit into the drive-up area of the building.

I watched as a lady inside put our two drinks down on the counter top then she set another large drink in front of our drinks. Well, the fellow that was manning the drive-up window was waiting for food to come up and he picked up both the large cups right as the lady came back and was holding them up as if asking who the drinks goes to.

Well, needless to say he had picked up our large drink and another large drink and now the cups/contents were mixed up so the lady took the lid off of one to smell it than handed it over to the fellow to take a swallow in order to figure out which was which.

Now, I'm no lip reader but it was very clear what their conversation was and what they did to figure out their mistake of mixing the cups/drinks up. I sat there and watched this take place, frozen in horror that they would actually do a taste test on a customers drink.

I got out of the car ( I am not afraid to speak my mind), opened that glass door and told them I saw what they did with the drink and that I didn't want it or the other one and I would be reporting them. The guy's mouth just hung and the woman was looking at me with a frown but they knew they were busted.

I will never eat at or be a patron of this restaurant again and this experience has made me think twice about eating out at all. Our 4 year old daughter would have been drinking out of that cup and we all know some of the diseases we can catch from others through saliva. This is truly frightening!

I work at that exact restaurant now and I can promise you that things like this aren't taken lightly. Thank you for reporting them.
I mostly work on the grill, and I can honestly say that I've NEVER messed with anyone's food, nor have I seen anyone mess with it since I've been there. It's always done, and I always melt the cheese before I pass the burger to the sandwich bagger.

And if I ever see anyone do a taste test on a drink I'll kick their ###. I might lose my job over it, but I'd rather lose my job than to have some idiot drink out of someone's cup.

Feel free to come back anytime, I don't wanna say my name on here, but I personally guarantee your order will be completed to perfection.

Sonic Drive-In lame commercial

We have been lambasted recently with commercials featuring two white "men" that are degrading to men in general and white men in particular. These "men" are assumed to be parked at a Sonic seemingly about to have an orgasm over whatever it is they just bought. Such behavior is demeaning.

Commercials are generally effective if they make people want the product and or want to be like the people in the commercial. Needless to say, I do not want to be like them.I am to the point I immediately mute the tv each and every time I see the commercial begin. I am near to the point of boycotting Sonic until such commercials are pulled. I realize such a large corporation will not miss my little bit of business but I protest on behalf of all the white me who are not gay and feel all white men are belittled every time this comes on the air.

To have only two white men is also politically incorrect. Where are all the Latinos and black folks represented. Was someone afraid to have them represented in such a poor design of a commercial?

Get this crap off the air!

I've bout reached the end of sanity and patience with those gosh awful commercials... They have NEVER, not once, enticed me to the place, in fact I have been boycotting them since fall 2011 simply over that crap...I myself have never found one ounce of funny or entertaining bout them, but I shockingly acknowledge some have at points in their life when apparently they lost their minds. Either way it's been over TEN YEARS with that campaign...DO SOMETHiNG NEW already, jeez!...

Ordered foot long coney with everything. The hot dog had no jalepenos as picture on the tv ad and the hot dog itself was so salty as to be unhealthy. When we ordered it with everything, we assumed that's what we would get. We will never go to Sonic again.

I can't get an order correct ever due to multiple employees constantly high on the job. This place should be raided by the cops and all employees tested for drugs. Caila Brown is not the only one either, she's just stupid enough to tell customers and post it on her Facebook. Very sad!

Sonic Drive-In employees

The sonic here in Center, T has signs up everywhere advertising that they are open 'till midnight. I've been to sonic around 10 pm several times in the last 4 weeks at about 10 pm and I'm told every time that they are closed. There is always kids playing out in the parking lot and never anyone inside. There was one incident it took 10 minutes for anyone to take my order due to them playing around in the parking lot. I have brought this to the store managers attention and obviously nothing has been done about it because it continues. Please can something be done about this? Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Winter Ogeda

Wow. I'm sorry about that. At my sonic lets just say they are way more strict... Would have a heart attack if they heard that someone had that experience at our store. Maybe try calling in and talking to the general manager about it or even ask for the district managers number and get those people fired. Sonic obliviously doesn't need them. I'm sorry you had that experience.

Sonic Drive-In bad food, bad service

Where do I begin? Many times my family has gone to eat at Sonic, and many times we have been disappointed. I have worked fast food, I know at times it can get hectic and very busy. Only at this Sonic that is not the case. I don't know when people stopped taking pride in their work, but at Stroud Sonic, taking pride and working to satisfy the customer have gone by the wayside. It is sad and frustrating to me that the money that I work for and decide to spend at this eatery is going to pay for crappy meals and bad attitudes.
Our orders are incorrectly prepared at least 50% of the time. We have waited in drive thru for 15-20 minutes at times, waiting on drink orders. The pace inside is glacial to say at best. There is no hurried pace to expedite the orders. The appearance and quality of the food is also something that is to be desired. I'm tired of being taken advantage of by companies that are charging a less than fair price for food that is less than acceptable to most pallets. I hope that these complaints are taken seriously and that measures are taken to salvage the integrity of a business that I have always enjoyed going to since I was a young child. I remember the little plastic animals that used to be placed on the rims of all the beverages. So, please take this seriously, because I want my kid's children to enjoy what I did when I was young. Thank You!

If the food is bad, why on earth do you keep going back?

The definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing over and over yet expect a different outcome.

I have been a Long Long time customer at sonic's over the years, going back to 1975 in Austin Tx when they use to put plastic Animals on the large drinks. I have saved the .Monkeys, Mouse, Elephant’s, Giraffes, donkey, and sail fish from a special promotion...But now with
this last visit AND THE issue that came up, I have decided to end my long time association with sonic...my ticket # 105 store in Henderson NV on lake mead date: 9/13/13 time11:53am...can't make out the # on receipt...Anyway I called in an order for cheese burger with lettuce, tomato, mayo and light onion, and a small fry with extra catsup...when I pu the order, after paying I asked if they put extra catsup in, the girl said "no we only put 2 packets for small fry " I said you can't give more than 2 packets of catsup...she said no and walked back inside...So I went next door to arbys and got 4 packets of catsup..got home and of course my cheese burger didn't have tomato on it, they can’t even get a simple order correct...How frigging Bad and Cheap has this company gotten...So today.I made the decision to give
up on sonic since this is not the first time over the last several years I have had issues
with this company..this is the kind of trend that kills companies today ...so while I don't like McDonalds, I will seek out another fast food burger place...there are so many others in the area, In and Out, 5Guys, wendys, including that the special one I really like and that is Fuddruckers...their hamburgers are the greatest, but alias they just aren't in this area...but no more Sonic...you lost a Long time customer...good job at driving me away.

Sonic Drive-In service

Not sure who this complaint is going to. I want to send it to a Sonic Manager. This new sonic drive in on Dowlen in Beaumont Tx. needs help. There service is horrible. They will never answer after you push the button, so you move your car and go to another stall, the same thing happens. I keep pressing the button over and over, no one answers! Finally I see a carhop and ask them if it is working, but today I got a manager. He told me there was 4 people working and they just couldnt anwer all the calls. HELLO! all you have to do is tell us you will be right with us instead of ignoring us. If this was the first time, but this happens all the time.
I know this is the second new manager I have talked to since this place has open. The employees need to be trained better. If this complaint doesnt go to home office, I will look into this futher. Like I said this does not happen at other sonics.
Signed tired of waiting 20 min. for someone to answer!

Oh, and if the button is programmed correctly, then while you are waiting it is either supposed to light up or flash until the station has been answered or deactivated. I would take you issue to corporate by calling 1-800-OK-SONIC and explaining the situation. The customer service reps are typically very helpful.

The way it works, Dan, is like this:

You drive up and press the button that says "Press To Order". Pressing it multiple times before anyone answers your call doesn't do anything. Do not let anyone tell you it does, because it doesn't.

After you press the button, your order is placed in line to be taken. If there is no line, of course you should be answered promptly. You are perfectly within your right to become irritated if they don't answer within about 15 seconds. Sonic has set the ideal reply time (the time it takes for someone to answer you) to 8 seconds with over 30 seconds being ridiculously slow. Each location has, on average, three speakers with which to answer calls.

However, if you do move to another stall after waiting for a few seconds or minutes, it will increase the amount of wait time you must experience because the system is not able to choose which orders it answers. It always just takes the next in line according to how long that particular stall has been waiting. When you moved, you were placed at the end of the line again.

However, I still say that you have a right to be irritated because the service at this location seems to be terribly slow.

Never said I kept pushing that damn button. I may have pushed it a second time because at the restaurant I visited, there aren't even directions, just a little button staring at you. The whole process is apparently poorly thought out. Sonic mgt or corporate needs to address this. My complaint was never directed at anyone in particular, including the local store workers. Only that something is wrong and needs fixed. And how in the hell is a customer supposed to know if his red button is working or broken if there is no way of letting him know he is in some sort of cue. When you make a phone call to a company and get put on hold, this is why you hear music---to let you know you are in a cue and connected. I can't blame a worker who is forced to work with a flawed system. Assuming what you say is true about not being able to answer and say they'll be right with you, then there is the problem. They need to be able to do this. If you can't understand my point then we'll let it be at that.

[Let me explain something to you...When 5 people push that little red button the headset inside beeps and the orders just stack up. They can't just answer and say they'll be right with you. It doesn't work like that. They probably need more help, but it is not possible to answer it until all of the people that pushed the button before you have placed their order...]

Yeah, if you keep pushing that damn button, it stacks up, and they're gonna have to turn off the machine, then turn it back on. And GOING TO ANOTHER STATION DOESN'T HELP! It just repeats the cycle all over again.

Let me explain something to you, it doesn't matter why you can't acknowledge customers. It just matters that they aren't acknowledged, they can't tell if the store is closed or closing and if someone doesn't fix the situation, people will leave. Look at all the complaints about Sonic posted on complaintsboard.com. Seems like a lot of unsatisfied customers. Be glad people take the time to complain. It might give management or corporate a chance to fix a big problem.

I've never been to Texas but I had a similar experience today in Uniontown, PA. I realize the town just had an Independence Day celebration at the nearby mall and the Uniontown Sonic was busy. But I don't see any reason to ever sit at one of the stalls for 25 minutes and not have someone at least acknowledge your presence and give you an estimated wait time. I pushed the button several times, tried another stall etc. To make things worse, nowhere could I find any indication of the restaurants hours. There were a few carhops moving about some of the cars. None ever came over to tell us anything. Were some of the stalls broken? Should have a sign or something posted so you don't waste your time. Was the store closed? All the lights were still on at all the stalls, the drive-thru, inside and at the outdoor tables. And again, no store hours anywhere to be seen. As a last resort, I tried the drive thru and waited behind several cars, all of which waited their turn, waited for someone to answer, then drove away out of the drive thru lane. Why all the lights still on? Why not put out some cones to let people know it's closed? I can't appreciate a place that doesn't respect my time or my business.

Sonic Drive-In real fruit slush

Today during the Drive Inn Happy hour I ordered a Real Fruit Strawberry Slush. Normally when I purchase one of these it is very thick and so full of slushy Ice that it is hard for the liquid to come through the straw. Today was a different matter, there was very little ice in it, and the contents was very weak and had very little fruit, what a disappointment. Maybe I need to seek another business for my evening treat.
I have always tried to shop in my home town, but with this kind of service/product I can understand why people shop outside of their town

Sounds like they should make a better slushy machine then.

The slushie machine does that, when ALOT of people order slushies during happy hour. Plus its hard for the machine to maintain the slush, when it has to freeze some slush and defreeze some slush. Sometimes there's no watery slush, makes it thick, sometimes there's too much, makes it watery.

UGH the same thing happened at my Sonic today. No fruit, no juice, no anything, just ice with a squirt of red.
