possible discrimination based on name
Over a week ago, after my most recent visit to my local Sonic, I was informed to go online and sign up for their Cruisers Club. This way, I can receive bonuses, since I am a regular at Sonic.
I went through the sign-up process, step-by-step, and when I submitted my information, I was given an error. This error stated "You may not use explicit words." I was confused, and went through the page line by line. After closer inspection, the error was placed right above my last name. Yes, their "filter" system is telling me that MY last name is explicit, and therefore offensive. I am a person who hardly ever gets upset or offended, but after dealing with a lifetime of harassment and bullying because of my name, this hit a nerve.
Bear in mind, I have a VERY Polish name, and obviously am Polish. But it is not an uncommon name, as there are celebrities that share my last name, spelling and pronunciation.
I sent an email to Sonic over a week ago and have not heard a word back. It seems to me that they want to ignore this issue. I went back to the website to see if the error had been corrected, and it was not. Until there is some resolution, I am boycotting Sonic. This is a shame, because I love their food and the service is always great.

poor employee treatment
This location has gone downhill since the previous manger left. One example: the general manager has fired at least ten employees and tells them It's because of over staffing. Then he hires his in his family in the place of the people he has fired! His dad, sister, brother, brother in-law, and room mate. And to boot he demoted three of his assistant...

They gave us a completely different order then we asked for. Most of the items we missing one item (fries, add ons, appatizer, and even a whole burger). For a order that was almost 40 dollars we received only about 20 bucks worth of food... if that! I called to speak with the manager and got Michael this uneducated associate claiming to be him. I informed...

I went to Sonic on Monday, August 29, 2011 with my daughter after I picked her up from school. We were glad we could make it in time for "Happy Hour". Well our visit was far from happy. I parked in a stall close to the window and saw the girl taking my order getting very impatient with me after asking her if she could repeat my order back to me. All I got...

We went to Sonic on Midnight St. in CO. to get drinks. We ordered 2 Route 44 sweet teas and a DP no ice. On the way home I took a drink of my tea and it was soured! It was awful! So we turned around and went back, told the girl what was wrong and she said she would have that fixed for us. After sitting there for 25 MINUTES, I pushed the button again to ask how much longer it was going to be, and the guy acted like he had no clue what was going on. He said he would bring it right out. THE TEA HASN'T BEEN REMADE AND IT WAS THE SAME ONE!. I told the guy never mind i just wanted my money back and he had to go ASK "to see what they could do for me". Finally after waiting 30 minutes for a sweet tea, it was refunded. This is one of the many problems we have had there, but the worst one ever!
After 14 yrs. of being a Sonic customer we will never do business with you again. In the past two months I have dealt with items being short, messed up orders & questioned about both, RUDE management, and overcharged twice. instead of an apology and offered a refund, the mistakes were blamed on " the young help ". I was also told I should check my orders for errors including being overcharged.
Guess Sonic has enough customers they don't care about service so my family will go elsewhere.
We ordered two medium milkshakes, but were charged for two large milkshakes. The cashier refused to change the ticket, and so far, corporate has done nothing to fix the problem. We won't shop at Sonic again.
discontinued gravy
Why have you discontinued the gravy with the chicken basket? I do not wish to have dipping sauce instead of gravy. Who makes these decisions and why? Just my opinion, but I'm sure others feel the same way.

3rd degree burns while working at Sonic. I would have paid the $50.00 for the gloves so this wouldn't happen! GM of store didn't care about the burns. It was only when OSHA was called about the hazardous safety conditions did she break down and purchase the gloves. We can't let companies like this get away with this kind of thing. BOYCOTT SONIC!

bad management bad everything - coming from an employee that worked there
As a 16 year old girl I was excited to get my very first job even at a fast food restaurant like sonic. Unfortunately I did not know I would have such a bad experience. I only worked there for 2 months and got terrible hours, and no one took in consideration for the days I asked off even if I put my requests in advance. But it gets worse. Since I was a new employee and all I needed to be trained so I could understand how to do my job. I was their for 2 months and was never fully trained. I never even carhopped I only did drive thru and even then I didn't know how to do most of the stuff there. On my first day I was never introduced to the crew that worked there or where things were in the restaurant. The working conditions were not very good at sonic either. The air conditioner had been broke there for as long as I was working there. And no one bothered to fix it or even address the problem. It is still probably not fixed to this day. The manager was very un professional along with some of the other employees at the work, vulgar language was used so much by everyone in the restaurant even at employees. I was cussed at once for not doing my job right and was even called stupid. If all this wasn't bad enough I didn't know when I would get off work because my manager would not tell me. I was never given a break when I worked for 5 hours. I'm still amazed to this day about how badly I was treated when I worked there. They didn't treat customers good either. Many health code violations were not taken in consideration by the employees there either. Everyone knows cherry limeades come with a tasty lime and cherry but people do not know that after making the drink the employees put in a cherry and a lime with their nicotine stained fingers in your drink. Mmmmm tasty think about that next time you go to sonic. Or I know how a lot of people love those good sonic burgers or " gourmet" hotdogs. Those hotdogs and burgers and other foods are made with bare hands and no gloves. If you call gourmet being unclean and unsanitary then sure sonics food is gourmet. I not only got a very little paycheck because of my hours but I had to ask for my paycheck because I was never given it on friday when everyone else was. So take my advice DONT GO TO SONIC and DEFINITELY DO NOT WORK THERE. Unless of course you like getting paid little money have terrible management and get cussed at. Or eating tasty health code violation food

I work at sonic of Lexington South Carolina ( and actually I used to live in lee's summit) but it seriously is the worst job I can think of. Don't eat or work at sonic it's awful

sexual harrassment
I worked at Sonic for over a year and I ignored everything that was going on. I never commented about fifteen year olds closing the store at night by themselves. I never said anything about the managers eating food all the time without marking the product for the truck orders. I never said anything about the unprofessional conversations that the managers would have about each other or other managers from other stores. I never even commented on the constant sexual harrassment I received from my store manager where he would tell me to go into the storage room with him and give him oral sex and strip teases. He would have me bend over and clean drains so he could see my underwear. He would constantly pinch the girls and make crude comments saying things like 'girl, if you don't stop, I'ma grab them titties!' Being a minor myself, I was constantly feeling violated verbally and I was too afraid to lose my job to say anything. It would become something of a game amongst the managers where, when closing the store (as I liked to have a list of things I needed to do before I could leave) a manager would write the GM's name under my to do list, saying I had to 'do him' before I went home. I expressed my discomfort many times and nothing was ever done about it. I just recently got fired after being falsely accused of STEALING from the store. I was working drive thru and went to recall a ticket meaning to change no tomatoes to no lettuce or something really simple like that. I told the cooks the change to ensure that it would be fixed and scanned for it, clocked off the order, and handed the food out of the window. Apparently, as I went to press the clear condiments button, I accidentally pressed the clear item button. I was none the wiser until four hours later when my managers pulled me outside and told me about it. I apologized and told them I would gladly fix the mistake and that it wouldn't happen again. They asked how I would be so sure. I told them I would be more careful and that if I needed to recall a ticket, I would happily have one of them come over to ensure the mistake wouldn't become reoccurring. They said they needed more precaution and fired me on the spot, taking my tips for the entire night. I've been completely lenient with everything that has gone on in this store. I haven't said a thing about anything that has gone on to make me feel uncomfortable and disgusted. But this has been the final straw. I'm not keeping my mouth shut anymore. I'm not only writing this to you here, I am also taking this to the labor board and to anyone else who will listen.

I believe every word she says. I know what it's like to be stalked at work, too.
Document everything you can.Get witnesses. Find a good lawyer if you can.File a lawsuit.Even if you don't win, you can make them squirm. I hate how young workers are abused. I used to catch alot of harassment when I was younger. And I'm a man.
changed menu
Changed menu, increased prices. Got rid of popcorn chicken, cheddar bites, corn dogs, reduced happy hour times, and are rude. I order UN sweetened tea, and even when they ask, I get it half the time still sweet and have to ask them to come back and fix it. When you can go to McDonalds and get a large drink anytime for $1, that is where I will be from now on. Atleast they aren't rude, and McDonalds is smart enough to keep their prices reasonable in a rough economy.
HELLO! You are on here too. You must work there. Otherwise you would not waste your time defending the fast food industry.
You don't know me from Adam, and I exercise and eat healthy and what I get is UN-sweetened tea, and treat myself to other items sometimes, so you can back off.
Defending the fast food industry? Yes, that is why I told you to go cook yourself dinner. It’s a new marketing campaign don’t eat fast food, cook food for yourself, it’s expected to triple revenue. I am here to call a spade a spade or in your case a [censored] a [censored]. Your Big Mac and gurney is ready. I bet you’re so damn lazy you sit in a drive thru behind 10 cars, when there is nobody in line inside. The 50 foot walk must be rough.
Just remember you are the [censored] complaining about a fast food joint. Pathetic
Well, have fun waddling your way over to McDonald’s, or you could try going home a cooking for yourself, you might live longer.
lost/stolen atm
on July 17th i went through the drive thru of Sonic. I ordered my food and paid with my ATM. Unfortunately, i was not paying attention and was given my food and not my ATM or receipt. It wasnt until the next day I realized and then called to see if my ATM was there. I spoke to the store manager who verified my order and name. He instructed me to come with ID so they could release it to me. When I arrived, the acting manager at this shift did not how to open the safe so I was not able to get my card. I followed up with a call early the next morning, (mind you, it is now 2 days later) I spoke to a gal who was very helpful. She checked both safes and could not find my card. She called her store manager and still no response. I then called in the afternoon asking for his contact info. I called and left a vociemail message and still no return call. This leads me to believe that someone has stolen my card from the safe or it was misplaced. I am in the process of filing a police report to report this incidence. So please...dont let them give you your food before giving back your ATM !

nasty, cold, and rude employees
I ordered food yesterday. I got 2 combo footlong chili dogs, 2 chicago dogs, a plain hamburer, and an order of chili fries. I never got the 2 footlongs with my meal. The girl at the drive thru actually accused me of being a liar. I paid almost $20. for cold food and under cooked hamburger. This is very unprofessional. If this keeps up Sonic in NMB will not stay open. The one doing the order acted like she had just smoked pot. She was as high as a kite. This makes me sick. I am letting alot of people know that this place is horrible and the service sucks. I want a refund back on my food it was not worth $20 dollars. And what gets me is that the dang night manager wanted me to pay another $6.58 for 2 more hotdogs. Good luck but your buisness will go under. I will make sure that alot of people dont go.

changing menu
Sonic has changed they're whole menu and taken almost everytime with chicken off. The only thing I eat from sonic is Chicken club toaster, popcorn chicken or the chicken wrap because I'm not a fan of fast food burgers. The fact that they would take all the chicken off the menu is rediculous and apauling. They've lost my business.

I totally agree! That and no salads anymore, and what was really stupid is that they wait until the hot summertime to remove those choices. I love their drinks, but if it wasn't for those I would never go there now.
unsanitary behavior by a manager
The manger had shoulder length hair with no hat on his head. He scratched his head, flipped his hair and ate the tater tot as he but them in the sack. We were at this store on 6/15/2011, 9:46p.m. store ID# [protected]

I had gone to Sonic on 5/29/2011 and they left out my condiments, so I swung around and went back. Got the condiments, got home, and then realized they had given me the wrong drink. So, I called and got the manager who said, "Do you have your receipt?" I said, "Yes." So she said I could come back next time I was out that way. On 5/30, I went back. I was told, "You'll have to come back when Amanda is here." I said, "No, she said to come at anytime, and I've made a special trip..." At this point, I was RUDELY interrupted by the girl on the intercom who said, "No, You WILL have to come back." I said, "Let me speak to the manager." The manager was not any better, but did agree to give me my drink, all the while acting as if she was doing me a favor. This is the same store who has OVERCHARGED me twice on a drink (finally I called them on it the second time and they fixed it.) Not only was this rude, it was just bad customer service. I got lectured by them when they are the ones who messed up. I tried to call the 1800OKSONIC, but it's not working and their website is also down. How convenient.
Its 1-866-ok-sonic
I don't understand that if they have over-charged you twice why you wouldn't double check your order before you leave.
management
a 19 year old little girl has made manager and she is very very rude to staff. she has no people skills what so ever. there have been several customers leave because of her attitude.one custermer even come in the store and complained to her because she was rude to her causeshe changed her or for her 4 year old son. she is constantly making smart ### remarks behind peoples backs and when confronted about it she will lie and even swear on the life of her daughter that she said or did it and everyone knows shes lieing. her name is treceena noe. the only reason she was made manager was due to theexcessive ### kissing she done to the general manager francie hernandez. while francie hernandez is there she follows her around like a lost puppy. the general manager francie hernandez is also very rude, everyone there is new and she expects everyone to know everything and we are trying very very hard. we wer also short 2 days on our check. francie hernandez said that the 2 days was put on the last pay check. ### were not stupid. that money has went in someones pocket and i think it might be hers.

Not all states require breaks. Look into your states labor laws. As far as hours missing, you need to contact your franchise's HR department. If your at a loss, contact [protected] and ask for franchisee HR dept. She will be able to point you in the right direction.
my sister is have the same problems here in San Antonio texas. she has great attendance is always early but never gets a break the put her on car hop and both times somehow managed to be short and in return the manger took all her tips and more. so if you know what to do please say so cause i really think its unfair for a 16 year old to not get breaks and have her tips taken away when we know for sure she wasn't short.
beware of working here!
Beware of working here... I transferred from another location and have never been treated with such disrespect by a general manager. She frequently flew off the handle, berating employees in front of customers... The first and last time I was the subject of her rage/bad day, I quit the next day. Customers pulled up in the drive-through saw/heard everything and had a look of pure disgust on their faces... Not to mention the constant sexual harassment by cooks, with no action taken by the employer. I would never imagine an employer treating their employees the way she did! Or saying the things she said! All because she was stressed out... Uh... Two words: bad management. To say the least!
I will never be a patron of this sonic! And it's the only one around! Keep in mind I worked at a few different locations about an hour away and have absolutely no problem patronizing those locations... The difference? The managers didn't treat their employees like dogs! (Actually... I treat my dog better than she treated me. Lol.) also, fellow employees would goof on/be on their cellphones constantly without reprimand... Because they were related to her or the woman directly under her.

Your commercials on the radio and TV are so stupid that it lowers the restaurantd standers ... Come up with something people would actually think was funny instead of making them want to change channels or turn the volume down all the way I dont even eat therr anymore cause im scared the stupidness of the commercials will rub off on to me

Read full review of Sonic Drive-In and 4 commentsunfair treatment/firing of employee
I had been working for Sonic during my high school career, so when I took a year off after school, I naturally applied there. I had only been accustomed to working carhop duties, but they put me on fountain right off the bat, saying that being a carhop was "earned, " like it was being a manager, or something. I struggled to keep up, considering they sort of made me do almost everything and hardly anyone helped me with making drinks, ice cream treats, etc. Also, whenever I asked a question about how I was supposed to do something, I got snarky remarks from the lower management. At one point, a girl working as an assistant manager told me to go home because I was annoying her with my questions. I only asked them because I wanted to do THE BEST I could at my job. The rest of the carhops and fountains were totally rude to me, talked amongst themselves, and texted a lot while on duty. Coming from working full-time and at professional establishments, this was TOTALLY unprofessional. I got fired because I, and I quote, "was impossible to work with and acted unprofessional." Not once had the management disciplined me for any purpose, or for that matter even spoke to me in regards to any issues they might have with my work ethic. I visited the establishment recently, and the same people were working there. I am now a manager for a retail store and going to college while all if not most of the employees that work there still will still be working there for the next 10 years.
I know for a fact that it wasn't me. If you actually knew me or would ask any of my friends, I am a very friendly and outgoing person. These people, for some odd reason, had something against me. I am also a very professional employee. I work two jobs, both of which I have recieved employee of the Month numerous times. So, how can that be me?

Sorry, something screwy must be going on with my computer. Everytime I use a comma it put some ' in place of the comma. No clue how to fix it. Will have to wait for my computer savvy husband to get home.
My husband was recently let go from Sonic and he went through much the same thing. It seems like sometimes, if the manager doesn't like you, it doesn't matter how hard you work, you will never gain that person's approval. That isn't right, it isn't fair, and someone who can't put their personal feelings aside for an employee should not be in a management position. Be grateful that you are no longer working in such a crappy place and know that you are a better person. Now you know how it feels to be treated unfairly in the workplace, you will know not to make the same mistakes. The person/people that treated you poorly are most likely in a position that they will be stuck in for the rest of their lives because they don't know how to act professionaly.
Well I do agree with one part: Carhopping should be earned =/ The one i worked at we had to do everything BUT we helped each other though so they fail in that. The reason they make you do the other things first because if they get busy they dont want your ### just standing by the scanner instead of helping out.
But from everything else you said they should have talked to you first if they had a problem with you and should have helped instead of getting all pissed off because you was asking questions.
