Sonic Drive-In - no tips and disgruntled customers

I have been a car hop since March. What customers do NOT realize is that the car hop is not always the one who takes your order nor is the one who ever cooks your food and is rarely the one who makes your drinks and icecream treats. We work for minimum wage and put up with sometimes intolerable behavior from customers and employees and bosses only to car...

Sonic Drive-In food/price

My name is denise and im complaining about my service at the Sonic Drive thru on Airline Hwy. I ordered my food and the service was horrible. First, the order taker gave us the wrong information and didnt know what she was doing. Secondly, we order a classic Angus Burger that was hard and a slushi. She gave us the slushi and on the price ticket is read $1.39 for the slushi. We decided that we wanted another slushi for later and ask for one with the price of $1.39. She gave us a slushi that was smaller than the one we got before! We ask them about the problem and they couldnt tell us anything. The lady went back and got a slushi the same size as the other one but this time charged us for a medium. Now, if the slushi was the same size, it should have been the same price! Please take this note into consideration. Thank you.

1.39 is the price of a small slush...they gave you the wrong sized cup and instead of throwing it away the gave you the extra for free...
shame on them for doing something nice.

Ordered 3 value meals, when order came out the drink carrier had a frozen coffee in it that was not ordered. I told the girl that I hadn't ordered it and she just replied for us to keep it. So my son and I decided to give it a try. As we took a couple of sips, one of the staff came running to the car and snatches it through the window and exclaims, "give me that you didn't pay for that!" my son was then saying he'd pay and gave him $4 for a $3 drink…and he kept it with no change and no receipt .… I guess he thought it was his tip for being rude and being made to feel that you just shoplifted. I won't ever go back to that Sonic again even if they pay me. Besides they are always getting orders wrong and take forever just to get a tea. 330 Emerald Forest, Covington, LA

I used the walk in at the local Sonic. I was not greeted when I walked in. An idle employee took one glance at me and walked away. When she returned I had to get her attention to place my order. She got my order, told me how much I owed, handed me my order, turned around and walked away without saying a word to me. I guess at Sonic employees are not trained to say Hi, Thank You or Good-bye.

Sonic Drive-In Safety

One of daughters works for Sonic in our town. I have heard her come home and talk about them stealing her tips, cheating her out of her wages, not letting her have breaks and over working her to the point of her feeling like she is going to pass out amongst other things they need to be reported to OSHA for. Anyway, I am trying to stay out of it for the most part and let her learn and grow but today she came home and told how she slid under a moving truck and hit her head on the concrete fortunately the lady driving the truck stopped before driving over top of her and got out to get her food which my daughter managed to not drop. Her head hurting she went inside to tell her manager and he told her to "suck it up". She continued to have a headache for a few hours but continued to work. I am furious! The carhops are made to skate and the surface is far from smooth in fact, there are large pot holes they often hit. Several of them have almost been hit by cars a few times already and the boss and owner have been informed but refuse to do anything to make the work conditions safer. It's Sonic's responsibility to make sure it's employee's have a safe environment to work in but most of them are young and don't know they have rights so Sonic takes advantage of them. Shame on Sonic! I am ready to call OSHA.

My two daughter works for sonic in rolesville nc. You are right when you say they don't care about anybody but making money. When they started working there they were made to skate and if they didn't skate then they would be fired! So of course they skated. Then when their first pay check came, they both bounced. I called the owner Mitch Neal and told him he had issued the two girls bad checks. It took him a week and a half to finally get the girls their money. I had our bank calling me everyday to find out what was going on because of course they wanted their money. Then the girls where scheduled to work like 4-8 well they would work about an hour or so and call me to go get them because they had too many people working. The nasty and dirty looking district manager finally fired one of my daughters(who is 15) because I was out of town unexpectingly and didn't get back in time to have her to work. When my daughter called to tell her she would be late she told my 15yr old to walk, well her exact words were well I suggest you get to walking honey. She wanted my 15yr old to walk 2 1/2 miles instead of letting her come in late. She also took my other daughters tips because her register was short 4.00. Instead of counting everyone's registers she just kept her tips but she had took 100.00 prior because they were so busy and she had too much money on her. The district manager told her there was nothing she could do about it and if it had of been more she would of been written up for it. Also one of them fell while on skates. She had a huge bruise and knot. It turned blue, purple and yellow. It has been there for 3 weeks and they never even documented that she fell.

I started working for sonic last summer. I immediatly found out we were only allowed one fifteen minute break if we worked over six hours. The skates were optional, but our boss encouraged us to try and skate even if we weren't very good at it. I nearly killed myself trying (because I knew I would get a raise if I carhopped on skates) even with the close calls he still encouraged us to keep skating. We all finally got smart and gave up on it. I finally quit today because after I decided to try for manager I found out I was pregnant. My boss made it pretty clear to me that he would expect me to do all the same things a nonpregnant manager to do (ie. heavy lifting, grill cleaning, long hours) which I pretended not to have any problem with. The last straw came today when he was having a new sink installed by his maintanence guy. It was fine until he pulled out the plumbers glue/ putty/ sealant or whatever it was and the whole store filled with fumes. I dealt with it for a little while and when it got really bad I asked my assistant manager what to do. She told me to talk to the boss, so I did. I simply asked him to look at the chemical container the maintanence man was using and see what it was and if there were any birth defect type warnings on it. He refused and said there was plenty of air circulation, I would be fine... I dealt with the fumes about another hour and decided to walk out on my break. I have filed a complaint with OSHA and I hope something is done about it. They don't care about the safety of anything but their profit margins... I can tell you that from seeing it first hand!

Sonic Drive-In frozen burger!

We ordered 2 Angus burgers at the Sonic Drive-in on Vance Jackson & Loop 410. We were shocked and disgusted to bite into partially frozen meat! Took burgers in and manager only offered to cook us new burgers (I tried to eat mine, but couldn't after the previous experience). Manager gave a lame excuse about why burgers were frozen. They were also out of the right buns for the burgers and after going into the restaurant, I will never give them a second chance due to the messy and dirty conditions.

Want an Angus burger? Bring your meat thermometer and check it first!

Sonic Drive-In bad food

The Sonic in Caruthersville, MO badly needs to change their grease. I keep going back because it's ok sometimes, but more times than not, the food tastes rancid because it's fried in old, disgusting grease. I guess they're either lazy or cheap. But, I'm never going back.

Two weeks ago we stopped at this Sonic for dinner. In the past we have always enjoyed eating at this particular Sonic. However, on this occasion my tator tots were old and cold. I called them and they replaced my tator tots with hot ones straight from the fryer. This past Thursday at approximately 4:30 P.M. my husband and I stopped at Sonic and placed our order. The person taking our order cut me off before I completed my order. I had to call them back to finish placing my order. It took 10 minutes before we received out order. When our order came, it was wrong--I had ordered a combo and was charged separately for each item instead of one combo price. We had no napkins, no salt, no pepper, and no peppermint. We had to call them out to bring these items. The hamburger buns were stone cold. My hamburger patty was also stone cold. I ended up throwing my hamburger in the garbage.

This use to be the best Sonic anywhere around but I won't be going back anytime soon. Thank you for letting me vent. However, it is very bad service and bad food that has prompted this correspondence.

Ordered 2 BLT toaster sandwiches at sonic on thru 07/17/08 in okc at 8:00 am and requested no tomatoes on one. Took them to my daughter at work to eat, the bread was mashed flat on both, extremely soggy on both, bacon was nasty flavored and no tomatoes on either one. these were the worst breakfast sandwiches. Sonic should be ashamed to sell food in this condition. will never order this again. Bought a diet vanilla coke also and no flavoring, just flat... management at this sonic store needs to be advised...

I ordered a toaster sandwich with sausage. A few hours later i woke up from my sleep feeling so sick. i was just waiting to throw up and eventually after 3 hours of feeling disgusting in my bed i did. The wasnt the end of it though. I threw up while walking in the front yard too and i felt nauseated the whole day. My whole digestive tract was messed up for about 3-4 days. And the last thing i ate before it all happened was that stupid sandwich. I think something wasnt cooked right.

Sonic Drive-In poor service nasty workers

We visited the local sonice tonite to order 3 simple things; a oreo blizzard, a banana split and a dish of vanilla icecream. There were 4 other cars there when we pulled in.
We waited for 20 min for the order.in the mean time one of the employers came in picking at his face and ear while he also had a rag dabbing blood from his hand! (We were told he was off the clock) so what gross! Then while we wait 4 or 5 other people were delivered their order, which was things that had to be cooked! We oedered ice cream, we called the cook and told them to cancel the order because we had been waiting so long, as soon as we did this, they came out with the order.
Needless to say after seeing the nasty employer picking his face and dabbing blood from himself we did not want the food! So be careful of sonic 1!

Blacklable:
Don't go to sonic if you are a vegitarian. I promise (and this is the case with all fast food restaurants) your food is coming in contact with meat. And maybe just try checking the burrito before the carhop leaves your car, just to make sure. Or if you do go back, show them the receipt. It should say some thing like "BEC BURR NO MEAT", and that means that there should be no meat on it, and they should fix it for free.

DHB:
There is a "no meat" button on the switch board. So if you put BEC BURR then hit no meat, you are, by all means. aloud to make it.

and finally to the person who made the complain, Gin:
yes, 20 minuets is a long time. But Blasts (not blizzards...) can take a long time to make and if the cup breaks (which happens alot) the person making it has to start all over and that takes forever. Bannana splits take a long time too. This is still and unacceptable time, but in the future don't expect your order to be out in 2 or 3 minuets if you get a lot of ice cream, seeing how that takes longer to make then it does to cook a burger.
The employee does sound nasty and discusting. But you never know, maybe it was his first week and he got fired the week after (this happens alot).

Why would you go to eat at Sonic being a vegetarian? All of our food items are meat or could have come in contact with meat. The egg in the burrito is meat? Were you trying to substitute tater tots for the "beef carcass"? That is quite uncommon, in fact we don't even possess a recipe for it.

That being said, we are technically not allowed to serve it because policy dictates that any item which does not have a recipe on file is not to be made in the store.

The End... Go to a vegetarian restaurant if you want meat-free food.

What is it about TN Sonic employees that guarantees their idiocy? This never happened when I lived in TX!

I come to Sonic late at night expecting comfort food, which should be fairly easy as a vegetarian. I'll order a breakfast burrito with tater-tots instead of meat. Every g*ddamn time, the people at the window say this is no problem. But when I get home, I realize there's a burrito with nothing but cheese and beef carcass. So I drive back and demand the burrito I ordered/was guaranteed. And, every time, I have to pay for a second g*ddamn burrito, even though I had to throw away the first one I ordered because it was filled with flesh I couldn't eat it, and I had to drive all the way back.

What is wrong with these employees? Do they hate the world, or are they incapable of understanding/meeting simple expectations? Do they not care about consumer ethics?

Either way...this is the fourth night where I've paid for two burritos -- one of which I have serious ethical objections to -- and I won't be back. Sonic could've kept me as a forever-customer, but their general disrespect/interest in money above-all has killed any loyalty I might've otherwise held.

Thanks for the disrespect, Sonic. You may fry your fries in veg. oil, but your employees don't care/understand what that means. Sausage and tater tots aren't equal, and you can *u(k yourselves if you think I should just eat whatever you hand me out the window. I matter just as much as the meat-eaters who pay you, you know.

If you have an issue, speak with the management or Sonic Corporate.
The thing is though, all Sonic's have in a place a handwashing policy which is strictly followed. They are to be washed when switching between stations, when clocking in, when returning from breaks, etc.
Seriously, relax.

I went to the sonic in blytheville arkansas. I was waited on by a girl named Penny. Well, thats what her name tag said. Do they hire anyone no matter what their appearance..I mean their upkeep. This woman looked as though she had not bathed in days. Her hair was greasy and clothes very dirty. I get upset when I see people handling my food when they are not very clean in appearance. She brought our order to the car and I gave her the exact change. She then proceeded to tell me that I still owed her money. I looked at the ticket and I recounted the money. I DID give her the exact amount. She kept starring at me like I was crazy. I think that the owner of this sonic needs to be more careful of who he hires.

Sonic Drive-In chicken strip order

At approximately 7 p.m. on Sept. 12, 2008, we stopped at the Sonic Drive-In drive through in Berryville, AR. We ordered 6 chicken strips and a small order of fries. She asked us if we wanted the chicken strip meal. And I said "no, I just want the 6 chicken strips and the small order of fries". And she told us that our order would cost a total of $4.73. So we pulled up to the drive through window, we gave her a $5.00 bill, and she gave us .27 cents back. And when I looked in the bag, I only had 3 chicken strips and the small order of fries. So we told the lady that we had ordered 6 chicken strips; and she had even said the order back to us when we ordered it. We asked her where our other 3 chicken strips were because she had only gave us 3 chicken strips. She told us that we could not order just 6 chicken strips, we had to order the meal to get the 6 chicken strips. So we told her that we didn't want the 3 chicken strips for the amount of almost $5.00. We told her that we could buy a whole chicken for THAT amount. And we gave the chicken strips and the fries back to her and told her we wanted our money back. She was going to charge us ANOTHER $4.00 for another 3 chicken strips. We told her no and that we wanted our money back. She gave us our money and we left. We will no longer go back to another Sonic. This is the 3rd time they have done this to us. They OVERCHARGE us for our order and then DO NOT give us the complete order.

When I was at sonic the other day, I ordered a chey limeade and a large popcorn chicken. In the process, I am watching the inside and I see one of the managers take my drink and spit in it, not only did they spit in it, but thetook itout to me laughing and coughly, not at all being serious. I then told him I saw what he did and he told me to go to hell very rudely and walked away. I asked to see a manager, he comes out an hour later and tells me there is nothing he can do and that he is sorry. I asked him for the sonic coporate number and he told me 1-800spankme, which ended up being a very dirty 1-800 number. I hope that I never encounter such a horrible person again.

They did handle this situation very poorly, however I think I must press that you can't go to Sonic and just order six chicken strips, they don't sell them individually priced. She probably rang you up for 3 chicken strips snacks or something, which have about 2 strips a piece. Either that or she rang you up for two kids chicken strip meals. Anyway, Sonic has portioned out servings that they sell. It would be like going to Sonic and ordering 7 mozz sticks, you'd probably get rung up for 2 orders of mozz sticks since each order is 5 sticks. They should have talked to you more about the order and helped you get rung up for a reasonable amount, however, at the same time, if you ever choose to go to a Sonic again, I would stick to the portions shown on the menu and not just ordering any number of what you want.

okay, just so you know. i do work at sonic & i understand that your upset. first off, our strips are about $1.00 a piece. & fries are about $1.19 (reg. size), it's really rare that people want just strips and fries. maybe that was the first time that had done that. anyhow, a chicken strip dinner comes with (4 strips, fries, 1 toast, 1 onion ring & gravy) it's about $5.00. if you really think about it, the way you were ordering, 6 strips & fries, it would of been $7.19 plus tax. & if you would of gotten a chicken strip dinner, with two extra strips, it still would of been $7.00 plus tax, and you would of gotten more than what you came for, for the same price. i'm just letting you know. anyway, the carhop had no right to charge you twice. even if they were being rude, they didn't have any right. i would like you to continue going to Sonic, EVERY restaurant isn't perfect. you just have to learn how to order the correct way. if they didn't apologize for what they did, i apologize. this is just a tip so you know how to order correctly, if you want to the next time you visit.

thanks for reading, timothy.

Sonic Drive-In beware

I ordered 3 hot dogs at Sonic Dirve-In, the cook in the back was a black man and I watched him lick his fingers before putting my hot dogs on the buns and placing them in a bag.

I called back in & cancelled my order and told the man that answered why the order was to be cancelled. I watched for a couple minutes and NOTHING was ever said to the cook about licking his fingers then handling food. Poor Training by Management

This is disgusting and should have never happened.

This was on Broadway Street in Knoxville, TN

I use to enjoy going to Sonic Burgers where good hot dogs where good last night I went to get a burger rings and a Connie dog with onion rings what did I get a number 1 with cheese that had been setting around until it shrank to less then 1/8 of and inch hard as a rock, the dog wasn’t much better. I should have known something was wrong when my food got to me in record time. The only thing worth eating was the rings. This is twice now one more bad experience and Sonic is a done deal for me and further more I will tell all my friends and family to boycott Sonic burger from this point on.

How is it relevant that the cook was black?

I agree that it was rather disgusting for him to be licking his fingers while preparing your food and I would've fired him. However, I don't tolerate people referring to my employees as being "that black man".

Sonic Drive-In bad service

This is at least the seventh time that I have gotten a hamburger from a Sonic where the bleeping staff interpret no mayo, no mustard as giving me just a bleeping slab of meat and the roll - no lettuce, no onion, no tomato, nothing but the frigin meat and bread. I am never going to order at Sonic again because the service is awful.

Today I went to sonic and got a cheese coney cheddar please (footlong) and a regular fry with cheddar.I was asked at the speaker if I wanted a regular or and footlong - I said it again "footlong" to make a long story short.

I pulled up, (Rickee - the bell hop comes out and started to hand me my food and says chili cheese I said no ma'am it was just cheese, so she just walks off, she comes back and has a regular cheese dog, I said ma'am it was a coney foot long, she then rolls her eyes and walks off again a minute or so later she comes out with my foot which is now correct finally just have freezing cold fries and hardly no cheese on the footlong and to top it off no receipt either. I go to this sonic on 6th ave in Decatur al at least 3 times a week and for the past 2 months service has gotten horrible and extremely slow, I'm lucky if my order is ever correct. Today I have had enough, can something please be done?

I'm not a fan of cold fries (but who is?) today I have no choice to eat them, bc I don't have a long lunch to be able to take them back. And with the service I was provided I would be scared of what I got back!

I went to Sonic the Northcross location like I have been for the past five years to beta route 44 ice before our Christmas party at work. I ate the majority of it and drank the water that melted. I ate my lunch and then proceeded to open the cup and finish my ice. I noticed something dark under the ice, there was a ball of different Colors of hair mixed with something green, some meat and all other kinds of gross stuff. I was throwing up for over three hours and still after two weeks can not pass by a Sonic without gaggin and feeling sick. I took it back after work and they were shocked and apoligized and told me I would get a call from the GM so I gave them all my info. As of today I have not heard a word from anyone. The worst part of this situation was being embarrassed and humiliated in front of all my co workers. embarrasse d and humiliated. I

I ate at Sonic often as a kid. I stopped a few years ago after my 3-year old was served an ocean water slushie filled with bleach in Quitman, TX. When I took it to the manager to report the machine had been improperly cleaned, I was told, "We don't clean our machines." Recently I decided because one Sonic is lousy, it doesn't mean they all are and I tried them again. This time I was at Independence Avenue in Kansas City, MO. My order was all wrong, (how do you mess up a burger ordered with ketchup and pickles ONLY?) the employees were rude and physically dirty, the drive-in itself was trashed and I watched someone pee behind the sonic sign while we waited for our food. I called the manager from the parking lot and he laughed and said, "What am I supposed to do about it?" My response was, "Nothing. McDonalds will do it for you." Wake up, Sonic. You can't replace quality with commercials and expect to stay afloat. Personally, I'd rather risk the "vanilla freezing mix", no matter how twisted, because I know the souvenir wont be hepatitis. "We're just too stupid to work here..." is not an effective defense, but it does seem to be true.

Sonic has a corporate complaint line. It is [protected]. Please be sure to call this number if you want your voice to be heard. If they hear from all of us, they may change their policies.

JUST SO YOU KNOW, WHEN YOU ORDER A BURGER AT SONIC. ALWAYS, START OFF BY SAYING I WANT A... CHOSE ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING: "MAYO, MUST OR KETCHUP"...NEXT SAY "WITH CHEESE" OR "WITHOUT CHEESE" ...AFTER THAT SAY " WITH/WITHOUT ONIONS, LETTUCE, PICKLES OR TOMATOES"... WE AREN'T LIKE ANY OTHER RESTAURANT THAT AUTOMATICALLY PUT MAYO & MUSTARD. WE WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE HELL YOU WANT IN IT. WE'RE NOT PSYCHIC. SO DON'T START ORDERING BY SAYING... " I WANT A HAMBURGER WITH NO ONIONS NO BLAH BLAH BLAH..." BECAUSE WE HAVE TO MEMORIZE ALL THAT YOU HAVE SAID AFTER "HAMBURGER" THEN INTERRUPT YOU BY SAYING " MAYO, MUST, OR KET?"... SOUND FAMILIAR? & TO BE HONEST, SOME OF US WORKING THERE AREN'T SMART ENOUGH TO MEMORIZE. THIS IS JUST A "LET YOU KNOW" AND I'M DAMN SURE 95% OF THE TIME, YOUR BURGER WILL BE MADE CORRECTLY. 5% IS BECAUSE WE HAVE SOME COOKS THAT ARE JUST PLAIN DUMB TO MAKE A BURGER. (LOL, SOMETIMES ONLY)

Sonic Drive-In charge different price then advertised

Sonic advertises a price for its shakes and blasts all varietys and flavors and then when you order and get your bill they have charged you 25 cents extra for say the chocolate flavor in the chocolate shake. What is a blast without the stuff in it? just whipped ice crem. I feel like this is false pricing which is against the law.

I've been employed by Sonic for 3 years as an assistant manager. The way our system processes an order is it takes a base item and you add things on, customizing. So when you got your blast, say an Oreo blast as an example, the menu price may be 2.49 for a regular size. At my store we may charge 2.29 for the blast which is basically the ice cream, the cup, the lid, the spoon, napkins, etc. Then below that it will say Oreo which has a .20cent charge which totals up to 2.49. Double check to make sure that isn't the case for you.

This is a new store and has been open about 4 months. I have been it the store about 6 time. Four of those times they got my order wrong an forgot what I ordered. If this is the type of service that this store is going to give, then close the store or get a new manager who cares about their customers.

Other Sonic's in Wichita Falls, Texas give good service.

Sonic Drive-In Did not give us our order

Me and my finance and our roommate decided to eat at Sonic's on the fourth of July, little did we know that this would be a huge mistake. After waiting at my car for 40 minutes and not receiving our order, we pressed the red button and asked about our order and they said it was on its way. After another 15 minutes we went up to the door and our waitress said that the order had been canceled because we weren't at our car, however we had been waiting by the car for the whole time! So then they said we would have to replace the order, which we did and waited another 15 minutes and my roommate then went to talk to them and they said the food was on its way. 5 minutes later and another women came out to our car and said the waitress was looking for our car to deliver the food. Finally the waitress arrives with our food and I ask her to talk to the manager and tell her that I really don't think I should have to pay for this food again, she tells me that it was discussed with their manager and that because we were supposedly not at our car a half and hour ago it is not their fault. I tell her that I will not be coming back to sonic and that I will be filing a complaint. After I leave the drive-in and arrive at my apartment we find that our order was in fact wrong. I did not receive a refund either after I drove back to sonic to get the right burger. As I was waiting for my replacement burger, I see the waitress we had just had say "Get that woman out of her!" . This is by far the worst service I have ever received anywhere. Do not go to the Sonic Drive-In in Radford Virginia!

Through my researching the customer complaints list just got way too long and
The business just lost track. After time had past a group of individuals
Has not only hurt the restaurant, its hurt the hardest entire working
Wait staff in the world! A carhops job is by far the hardest
Restaurant work in its field that is why its turn over rate gets killed.
It makes it harder for the management to hire and can hurt fellow
Employee's also, so when this happens our work schedules are figured on a
Daily. By daily I mean the workers carhops/cooks call the store
Everyday or the night before to see if they are working. The
Restaurant does try I mean come on half prices during certain happy
Hour's even the shakes are half off after 8 at night until close! Honestly
Sonic shouldn't have taken away its old ways customers buzzing through
The drive through and not even waiting for the order to be re-red and getting to the window without a receipt. I even tell the best
Car-hop that not even she's a robot, we have lost a lot of our streak but
The truth will only hurt us both. Service people and the people. I
Was forced to quit by my management and boss with in my 3 month return
To working with sonic drive-in never had such a problem before ever in
My work history with thefranchise although this store#3477 has had a
Huge turn-over rate since I have been employed there. I am not taking
Back the written attack on us complaint but am saying or just wanting
To say wow! Wrong store to defend, I was however in there defense and
As far as losing not only me but many other good hearted employees its
Absurd.in my recollection I recall, 13 employees that have fired left
Or quit.
I did however have hope for my sonic while I was employed there, it was a
Wreck, after the audit, the store being closed for cleaning and bug
Bombing, in regards to it being closed down.
I needed my job is what I am trying to say and it was known, cant understand why I was pushed so hard? Verbally and was told my replacement was already hired, I had done
Nothing except my job and the day I quit was a sad one.

I have been working for sonic for around a year an a half and I can honestly say that the job is absoloutely horrible in pay as well as the things that you hve to put with. My issue is that the management team is alwys horrible. My manager that I hvean issue with name is sean and his father 'mickie' is the store general manager and he makes $10.00 an hour which is normal and I get paid $7.25 an hour which is ridicoulous because I have been working for sonic for so long but that is not my complaint. He is scheduled next week four hours overtime while I have 31 hours for the week and im the beat night cook that they have as of now and lets keep in mind his father makes the schedule. He from what I am undertanding has around 15 hours overtime from this past week on top of his usual 44 hours every week and has well over $1, 125 on his paycheck for the two weeks while no other manager does. The other managers are making around $600.00-$800.00 evey two weeks. I make around $550.00 every two weeks and that has only been recently due to a co-worker quiting. I am absoloutely sure that mickie is messing around with the pay time. I think that lance or another head person in the sonic business should look into it because not only is sonic running up its labor all the time but this issue is making it nearly impossible for any other worker to make any decent paycheck. I may only be 17 years of age but I have rent, bills, and things to pay for like every one elas that needs a job. All I request is that someone please come check the clock in times, the schedule and take a look at the cameras to just make this job bareble for me and the rest of this sonic crew. Sincerely a sonic cook that cometely hates his job.

I went to sonic one Tuesday evening a few weeks ago and my burgers were cold. I told the CarHop and she took the burgers back in to have them corrected. Upon receiving them again, they were cold once more. This time I asked to speak to the manager. When he came out I could smell whiskey on him. He was slurring his words and not making sense. I eventually got my burgers for free but was appalled at the service. The general manager should be fired.

Why can't they get the order right?

Last night at our local Sonic Drive-in in Nevada, MO, and my family decided to try their Angus Burgers.

We placed the order and in a reasonable length of time they brought us our food. Not only was the meat cool and under cooked, but they hadn't filled the order correctly. We called to complain, they sent out a new sack of more of the wrong stuff, still cold.

The third time we ordered our food, the assistant night manager refunded our money and basically asked us to leave. He was rude, even though we explained that we had never gotten what we had ordered.

His only comment was that he had prepared the food himself. I am so very happy for him, it still wasn't correct.

I personally know the owner so I know nothing will ever get done about it. He could care less about his customers.

I personally will never return to this drive-in and I may never stop at any other Sonics for that matter either.

I went to this Sonic because its practically across the street from where I live and have done so for years, I had 2 coupons one for the Wacky Pack $1.99 and the other Brown Bag Specical $6.99. They refused the $6.99 coupon I got home my husband called and spoke to the manager who told him we are a franchise store and we do not have to honor anything. Well needless to say coupon or not part of her paycheck just drove off!

Sonic drive in located on 29th and shields Oklahoma city, Oklahoma did not answer the drive thru and when we pulled up to the window was ignored although a girl with headphones on was at the counter and looked out of the drive-thru window at us and turned around and kept talking to another employee. We waited and she turned again to look at us and kept talking. We waited alitlle longer and left. It was the worst service I have ever seen and have never been treated that poorly at any drive-thru restaurant ever.

My girlfriend and I have gone to the sonic on staples just past saratoga blvd. in Corpus Christi, Texas and we have never received our order correctly. We look on the receipt and they never follow our order but the receipt is correct. We used to enjoy going to sonic but because of this sonic we will never go to another sonic EVER! We finally got so tired of going back because of our order not being right we have decided to drive further to Whataburger because they never mess up our order.

Sonic Drive-In short change

This place as well as the Sonic in Peoria continually short change you. Today I was short changed a dollar. Other times it's change under a dollar. If you hand them a $5 for example and the bill is $4.28 they will say they have to get change and don't come back or they hope you say don't worry about it.

This is a common problem amongst most Sonics. They hire these kids and tell them to expect a lot of tips and if the hire help doesn't get the tips they want they help themselves. If this happens again I will stop going there all together.

If a carhop tries this again on you, just point out the changer that is on their hip, attatched to their belt. It holds, I think, $15 in change so the carhop can always give back the exact amount due. The only time I ever need to go inside to get change is if someone gives me a $100 or a $50. Call the manager about it. And get the carhops name as well.

I also am a carhop in Ca. At my store we have to use our own change in our changer. Sometimes I run out so I have to go exchange ones for coins in the store. Customers may not understand that but I do always come back with their exact change.

I am too a carhop a Sonic Drive-In Austin, Tx. I know what you mean. This is the new scam that the carhops have come up with. They don't realize it's the same as stealing. I have a changer on at all times. If I owe you three pennies you're getting your three pennies. A lot of these girls and guys don't use changers. That's how they get you. I don't blame if you don't go back.

I am a carhop at sonic and while I would never short change anyone, except for on accident, if someone does, all you have to do is push the button again and tell the carhop to bring your change. Also, most carhops will always have enough coin change to give you. So, if you see that they have their changer on and they say they have to get coin change, they are lying to you.

Sonic Drive-In gift card

I have tried to talk to representatives regarding removing the gift cards registered under my name but to no avail. Today, June 15th, one of the reps told me very sharply to call customer service. When he was told customer service is open M-F, he told me to call on one of those days. He was the same representative who talked to me last week.

Someone had reloaded one of the cards w/o permission, and two representatives whose attitudes were wonderful took care of the problem promptly and sent me a new card by UPS.

I want the cards removed from the Sonic card site, but no one doesn't know how to remove them.

Sonic Drive-In poor service

My husband and i drove thru Sonic last month. He ordered a cheeseburger combo and enjoyed it, i ordered a chicken wrap with bacon and cheese. They did not put the bacon and cheese on however, which i found out when i got home. Although it was disappointing we decided to give it another try. Today i went through the drive thru again and ordered my husband the same cheeseburger combo with tots and for me the chicken sandwich (with bacon, cheese, tomato, lettuce) combo with fries. When i was given my order i checked the bag because the last experience i had and there were 2 orders of tots, so i gave it back and said i had ordered one fry. The guy fixed it (with no apology by the way) and handed it back. I almost checked the rest, but there were cars lining up behind me so i left. Well, when i arrived to have lunch with my husband we discovered a chicken sandwich with nothing on it and another (grilled) chicken sandwich with lettuce. This was absolutely NOT what i ordered. The only thing they got right were the drinks. I was sooo pissed. The other thing is they didn't even give me a real receipt with what i ordered on it. And by the way, i had already corrected the girl at the beginning when i first placed the order, looked at the screen to make sure what i said was what she put in the computer (which it was).

DO NOT GO TO SONIC IN ROSEVILLE, CA! The people they have working there are absolute idiots.

Sonic Drive-In scam

It appears that the Sonic at Muleshoe, Texas has stopped putting lemons in their Route 44-sized Lemonberry Slashes during Happy Hour (2-4 pm). The last two slashes I have gotten at the Muleshoe Sonic during Happy Hour have had no lemons at all. On the other hand, whenever I've paid the full price this summer outside of Happy Hour, the restaurant has never failed to add the lemons. Typically a Route 44 Lemonberry Slash has contained a whole lemon in slices. Is this a cost-cutting move or simply an employee's mistake in the preparation of the drinks?

Do you eat the lemons or something? You know they don't actually flavor your drink, right? Clear lemon syrup is what gives it the sour lemon flavor, not the actual lemons. If it's not sour, they didn't put the syrup in it either.

i use to work at that sonic drive-in, in muleshoe. i highly doubt that they didnt put lemons, they may have put them at the bottom. but "happy hour" has nothing to do with taking out the fruits or anything out of your drink. your drink should have the same quality is it does out of happy hour. anyway, next time you have a problem about how they make your drink, be sure to inform the "in charge" person, or your carhop. :)

I ordered a cherry COKE slushie tonight. I get a cherry slushie. I tell the drive thru lady that I ordered a cherry coke slushie...she responded...I put some coke in it...you cannot see it. I drank more...and looked at the receipt...which said cherry slushie. I told her again, I do not believe there is any cherry in it. She grabbed the drink and said, "how the hell would you know?" I asked to speak to a manager and was told there was not one there, but another girl came to the window. She then asked for more money because a cherry coke slushie would be more and admited that there was no coke in the slushie. Apparently I offended the first lady for asking to her to add coke? I know this isn't as bad as the other stories...but since I always have bad service at Sonic I thought I would report this incident. And alas, this is my last cherry coke slushie.

I sat with my child and my two nieces for over 20 minutes before re-calling and asking for a time estimate, and they told me THEY COULDN"T give me an estimate and they were short handed. I figured busy Saturday night a teenager called in, so I waited . What could I really do I had already paid by debit, and figured maybe 5 more minutes. After 50 MINUTES, I re-called and asked again for a time estimate, cause we have been waiting so long, and other customer (who had arrived and ordered after me) had gotten FOOD orders not drink orders. They told me again no estimate on time. I demanded for either my food or a refund on my order. I really wanted the refund but the kids were ready to eat, and were getting unbearable. We were NOT told sorry this time, only that they were behind and would have it right out, with a matter of fact tone. At an hour and 10 minutes I got tired of waited and called the Sonic Hotline, and had time to have a 15 minute conversation with a rep. who was kind but not real helpful, I was told they would look into it, and would call the manager, and at 1 hour 30 minutes I called again on the terminal the someperson said and I quote " I can't take your order, our system is down and we are closing early, good bye" . A minute or two after that a I get COLD FOOD and half my drinks. I told the carhop, I've waited an hour and a half I demend Hot Food. She took back the food and a car pulled up 5 spaces down and got they're order taken after they said they were closing. within 8 minutes of telling the carhop I wanted hot food she returned without my drinks, I waited another 5 minutes for my drinks. So, I lesson for all don't go to the Beebe, Arkansas Sonic and if you do, don't pay before your order unless you are willing to wait forever or lose you money!

Sonic Drive-In waters

I went to Sonic and ordered 4 small waters and a route 44 cup of ice. I know the ice I have to pay for, but since when do I have to pay for tap water? I have no air conditioning in my car and my 3 kids were with me and dying of heat. All we wanted was some water to drink. They charged me $2.53 for those 4 SMALL waters and route 44 cup of ice. I told they carhop you can't charge for water, and he said things have changed and they charge for it now. I called the store and complained and they said there is no law in Arizona saying they can't charge for water. I told him that was ridiculous and they have never charged me before for waters, and he said if you order food, they don't charge for a small, but if you don't order anything, they charge you.

Kudos, Kimo. Also, it's not "tap water" as in it does not come out of a kitchen sink. It comes out of the quicksilver tower, along with the juices and some other flavors. So what if a ton of kids came up to the patio and ordered 20 small waters? They shouldn't be charged? Or they should, but not you? Sorry, but you don't deserve special treatment.

I have been in the food industry for 25 years - and I support Sonic. So why did you go to Sonic and not a conveinance store - because you know you have to pay there? Do you realize that the cup cost money, the city charges Sonic for the water, that Sonic has to pay rent on that building-where you free water flows to. They have to pay the server to bring the water to your car, they have to pay insurance in case someone slips or falls or something else, they have to pay for the electrcity you used to talk through the ordering system, and for the lights. And they have to pay for the sanitation of the trash you place in their bins (assuming you didn't throw on the ground) lets not forget the taxes they pay as well. So to assume you deserve something for free because you always got it for free, maybe you shouldgo back to Sonic and pay them for all the times you got something for "free"...
