I applied for a job on Snagajob.com..The position was Marketing Coordinator for Uno's Pizzeria. After asking a few times about getting newsletters and marketing emails from them, and then would I be interested in the University of Phoenix..it says that the application process has been 'deactivated'. Then I get a confirmation email saying I applied. Yeah right! Then I go to Uno's just to see if there is such a job as Marketing Coordinator. Nope! What a shameful thing to do given the state of our economy, to use people's desire for a job as a means to execute non so subtle marketing.

msindallas - I apologize. I did not intend to be condescending in tone. I am simply attempting to explain to you what happened.

I've been in your boat before. I have applied for many jobs that I knew I'd be great at. And for a great majority, I didn't even get a call back. It stinks.

So here's the deal with what happened to you. You applied for two jobs and faced screening question on both of them. For whatever reason, you didn't meet the requirements that the employer set forth. This could be because of any number of things. Perhaps they wanted a full-time person and you checked part-time (or vice-versa). Perhaps they wanted someone who could work overnights and you checked daytime hours. I honestly have no idea. One missed question get's you thrown out of the running.

The screening questions have nothing to do with your experience or degree. You didn't get thrown out of the running because of your experience. You got thrown out because of the employer's questions.

I just want you to know that everyone here wants you to get a job. Everyone. We know there are problems with our site. We know that ads can be annoying. And you know what? We are changing. But we are only human. And it takes time.

I do not appreciate the condescending tone. I have a bachelors degree and experience. I don't know why I wouldn't meet the qualifications of the jobs I was interested in. I also don't know why your process would take me all the way to the end (as if everything was fine) and then tell me I don't meet the qualfiications (after collecting all my data). I do know that since then, my spam folder has received a lot more junk. I don't know if it's related to snagajob.com though. Of course I know I need to apply for more than two jobs. I've applied for hundreds. I will continue to apply, but I will not "apply" through snagajob.com. I think my complaint is informative for other people. I don't think snagajob.com will change or admit any error on its part.

Louie - I'm sorry you ran into problems with our site. You shouldn't have seen a "deactivation" page, nor should there have been a job on our site that didn't exist. Feel free to call us at [protected] so we can see what happened with that application.

jconnor - We have an ATS system for hiring managers that should help you manage your SnagAJob.com applications better. Feel free to call us for details on how to screen your applicants.

msindallas - We are advocates for the hourly worker and would never lead people like you astray. It sounds like you had screening questions for both of the applications you submitted on our site. Unfortunately, it appears you didn't meet the qualifications that the hiring manager put forth and your application was not submitted. Those screening questions come from employers and are designed to help hiring managers narrow down only the best candidates.

Also, remember that in this job market you need to apply for more than two jobs. It takes most people up to six months of constant applying to find a job.

You can always contact us if you have questions.

The response by the "hiring manager" shows how incompetent and bogus snagajob is. That posting is full of punctuation, grammar and spelling errors, and run-on sentences. The problem is this--applicants like me are using a service which we believe has employment opportunities, but instead seems to be posing as such while they are instead promoting or selling various products and services.

As a hiring Manager that used Snagajob I can completely disagree the biggest issue right now is not snagajob, its the economy. Every time I post a simple job I get not hundreds but thousands of applicants I would have to hire a staff just to go thru them. The problem is more of the applicants. You guys apply for anything and everything your not at all courteous to the employers needs. Most of the time you don't even read the ads you just apply. Then I call to speak to these applicants and they ask what position is this for? How much am I going to get paid? Even though I stipulate it on the ad. Oh I am sorry thats to far for me. Can you pay me under the table I want to stay on my unemployment. Is there any way I can work from home for this position? What are the hours again? HR is the last part of the company hire and the first fired. Company do not have the time or money to deal with this new type of applicant. Before sites like snagajob people had to get up off there a$$ and go apply for a position now every lazy applicant out there is clogging up the tunnels for quality employees. If you are a quality employee you are aware of this and are working because you are not sitting at home all day applying to 100's of jobs daily on snagajob. Take this as a friend Tip the last15 employee I hired did not send me their resume they came in and handed it to me. Just because you are irritated at your current situations dont take it out on business it will only make it worse for you!

I've had similar problems. I "applied" for two positions. During the process, there are numerous ads. At the end of the process on both, I was told that I didn't meet the qualifications and that my info was not forwarded to the company. What a waste of time! I'm never using that website again. It is a joke. It seems really fishy.

I recieved a notification that an interview for a Macy's Retail Sales Associate was available upon scheduling. After arriving at the location and going to the Central Offices for my expected and scheduled interview, all was tainted by the notification that SnagaJob has been sending excess of applicants to the location without prior knowledge of the company. In the end, I had to apply again and now I'm in the process of waiting for another callback for an interview. What a waste of time!

Aaron brothers hired me through snag a job. I also watched my bosses use the service to find other hires. There are scams on the internet, but there'e also legit stuff. snag a job id no different.

I watched my bosses go online and actually search snag a job for prospective employees on a few occasions. (Aaron Brothers) In fact, that's how they found me. However I will say that it took a whole month, and it was the only snag a job responce I got after filling about 20 apps. I think the service is a mixed bag, some scams, some legit offers.

Snag a job is advertising current openings at a Kmart that has closed. This is why I think Snagajob is just making it up.

I recently started a application through snagajob for Kmart, when it went through several pages and supposedly went to Kmart website, the URL did not match with Kmart, and the page supposedly from Kmart asked for your SS number leary of giving this even though it was hidden when you type it in I passed and went back several pages and it said that I allready applied to this position wich I did not, another one was with MurphysUSA and it asked for your SS number and it was not hidden once you started typing it in, for now on I am either going to apply directly at employers website or in person, I am not going to take the chance for Idenity theft, the rule is never give your SS number onl;ine even if the website looks legitimate, to much scams out there.

i can see where people feel like this is a scam but im not convinced.i have applied to many jobs on here and may not of gotten any callbacks, but i have never goten an response to my app saying im not good enough for consideration every job ap i have doen has been accepted. i havent goten an increase in telemarketing calls or spam email either. if anything i say that snag a job.com if anything is good to reference to how the job searching is guna go a far as to the flow of hiring and job openings. i prefer it over my local paper who seems to post the same jobs in the paper and online when the people arent hiring.

We want every user of SnagAJob.com to have a positive experience. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

The job market is tough right now. We hear from quite a few job seekers who are frustrated because they have great qualifications and still haven't found a job. Make sure your profile is as complete as possible and highlights all your skills. Cast a wide net and keep applying.

When you're applying to jobs on SnagAJob.com, read the job descriptions carefully. If the employer says they require 2 years of retail experience, or that employees must be at least 21, your application will not be considered if you don't meet those requirements.

You can always log on and change your email preferences. If you don't like receiving email Job Alerts or other emails, all you have to do is unsubscribe.

We partner with several other sites who direct traffic to SnagAJob.com, but these sites and partners should always represent our jobs accurately! If you come across a strange link to SnagAJob.com on craigslist or anywhere else, please let us know about it. And for any other questions, always feel free to contact us:
http://www.snagajob.com/about-us/contact.aspx

Our Seeker Support Team will do their best to help.

I got to snagajob thru Atlanta Journal Constitution / Ads by Yahoo. After several fradulant/scam "offers" there were NO jobs that were included in the original search which the site claimed to be over 1, 000 in my area. Using the internet to defraud should come under wire fraud. I wish someone had the time to use Title 18, United States Code, Section 1343 to close them down along with those who enable them (AJC / Yahoo)

Every time I apply for a job through SnagAJob.com, I seem to get a sudden increase in telemarketing phone calls. It is probably likely that they sell are personal information.

I have been using the snag a job website for about six months now and have had nothing but more spam. I have heard nothing from any employers through this website and I am disgusted by what I am reading here. I think this website is a ripoff. Another one to watch out for is careersearch. com. I have a bad felling about them too.

Thanks for wasting my time.

I have applied to maybe 50 jobs on snagajob . . .and have heard NOTHING back from the employers.. All I get is that same email...

"...
However, the employer is looking for candidates that are a better match. Your application has not been sent to the employer for consideration at this time.

Don't be discouraged! Continue to search SnagAJob.com's more than 100, 000 active job postings to find the job that's right for you."

I applied for one of their listed jobs just a couple days ago and have already been contacted by the employer by phone for an interview! I have been looking for work for almost a year have tried career network and monster job.com with absolutely no luck! so for now I give snagajob two thumps up.

As someone from the inside who is sick of their "we're the greatest place to work" chirade, I want to let the general public know that most of the jobs posted are not hiring. We tell business owners, national, major and franchise to post for all positions even if they aren't actively hiring because we want them to find the "next best candidate" or the superstar. You will apply for a lot of jobs and will not hear back from them...it is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Oh, and don't buy the CEO's book. If he can't hire and retain his employees how is he going to tell you to do so?

I can understand the points you who are agreeing with the complaint make, however, I for one cannot say that this is a scam. Seven of my friends, and several for their friends, as well as I myself, have all applied for jobs on snagajob.com and all of us have been employed.

I also have to agree with the complaints. I have clicked to apply for many jobs. Each time Ive completed an application I get to a page that says
"We appreciate your interest in XXX Sales Associate (Commissioned) position.

However, the employer is looking for candidates that are a better match. Your application has not been sent to the employer for consideration at this time.

Don't be discouraged! Continue to search SnagAJob.com's more than 100, 000 active job postings to find the job that's right for you."

Everything is filled out, my education, jobs, etc, and I get this message everywhere I click apply to. I will no longer attempt to use their site and will apply directly at the job openings workplace or website

I too have applied for a job with Snagajob after responding to an ad on Craiglist. I'm not sure if it was a spammer or not, but I was hired (and I'm still working there now). I for one can say that I am pleased with their service.

I have to agree with the complainant. Snagajob or some of its affiliates seem to be using some underhanded or less than ethical methods to get people to sign up on their site. I responded to a post on craigslist for a specific freelance writer's job. What I got in reply was a form email that I needed to go sign up at the site to apply for a job, with no mention of the job I had already applied for. It's just an attempt to get people to sign up thinking there's a job once they do. There was no real job being offered. This is a common scam often used by affiliate members of many sites to gain credit. Currently these same ads for this company are all over craigslist.
It might not have been so bad but I have tired to use their contact form a number of time to complain only to get a "technical error" message along with "Since you're here why not try searching for some great jobs in your area?" Just seems like they'll use any opportunity to take advantage of people. I finally decided to do a search to find out what others were saying and there are a lot of complaints out there right along with this one. If you're a legitimate business, then clean up your act!

We're sorry you had trouble with our application process. We investigated the issue and found an outdated link on our side. We have verified the information with Uno Chicago Grill and the application process is now fixed.
Please try again (for the job you're referring to, the application process must be completed in person). If you have any difficulties, just call our job seeker support staff at [protected].

Best of luck with your job search!
