Toyota - misrepresented vehicle.

I bought a used vehicle from Sherwood Park Toyota that turned out to be something completely different from what the sales representative said. The biggest surprise was the transmission. They told me it was a 6 speed (this model came standard with a 6 speed), but upon driving it home it was a 5 speed! Their "inspection" even missed a burnt out headlight! Besides the misrepresentations, their service was terrible. When they say they will return your call, it might be in 4 hours, the next day, or not at all. Also be sure to watch the fine print when buying used from them.‎

I purchased a 2013 Rav 4 from this dealership, I shopped around and found the vehicle I liked at this dealership.
Came to an agreement on price and gave a deposit of 1000 dollars to hold it.
I was paying cash and when I came to pick up the vehicle there were added charges as follows:
398 admin fee
298 anti theft
298 road Hazzard

These were not disclosed or explained or agreed fby me.
Robbery!
These charges were added without my knowledge and finance manager Leanne was completely rude! The worst purchase experience I have ever had since I bought my first car in 1982, these people are rude and it is clearly a scam coming from the top, they told me that it is the way it is take it or leave it,

And if I did not want to proceed they would keep my deposit.

Do not buy from this dealership!

Beware !

Toyota - sales tactics and bad service

On Sunday, July 17, 2009 I signed an Offer to Purchase a 2009 Rav4 at this dealership. They did not have one in stock nor did I order one. The agreement was based on the price offered and accepted. There is no VIN number, color, etc. on the offer as no vehicle was available nor did I order one. I was told that 40 were on order and one that I liked would be available shortly. The person in the finance department asked for a credit card and put through a transaction for $5000. When I objected he assured me that when we agreed on a vehicle the deposit would be refunded in its entirety. The deal from Toyota was and still is 0 down, 0% for 36 months. The same person called back on Thursday to say that he had a VIN number for me though I had no knowledge of even what color it was nor had I seen the vehicle. He then proceeded to ask what protection package I had decided on. I declined the protection package at which time I was told that they had lowered the price because it was the end of the month and I really needed to get the vehicle protected. Rather than argue with this person I became quiet. He hung up the phone when I did not want to argue with him.

I called back to the dealership approximately 1/2 hour later to speak with the General Manager, Art, since I felt that the conversation with the finance department was inappropriate and rude. I left a message on his voice mail and requested that he return my call. He did not return my call that day. The following day at noon I once again called the dealership to speak with the General Manager. This time he was in a meeting and I got his voice mail. With no response from the above named company's leadership, I asked that the deposit be refunded and we go our separate ways. I did receive a phone call from the dealership on Saturday from someone that said Art had asked that he call. He had no information as to the messages that were left with Art and I said that I would speak with Art when he called the following week. Art finally did call me mid-morning on Monday, July 27th. He refused to refund the deposit insisting that he had a signed bill of sale. I said that this was impossible since I had not signed one nor was there a VIN number or vehicle available when I was in the dealership. Art said that he would be contacting his "legal department".

Toyota Canada was brought in and they were unable to do anything as this is a franchise. They did however say that they called to speak to Art and mediate a resolution however he was not responsive. Toyota Canada apologized for this dealership and hoped that I would still purchase their product in spite of this dealership.

This was also turned over to the Better Business Bureau which requested a response from this company. They have not to date received any reply and have no served them with a certified letter requesting a reply.

It's now September 10.

Went in on Saturday to have my truck looked at in their service department for warranty work at 2:30 pm on my nab system. Was told they were to busy to look at it because they were cleaning up because they closed at 4:00pm but, told to come back next saturday and they might have time to look at it. What kind of service do they do there. Very disappointed in there service or lack of..have no interest in going back for serve or anything else nor will recommend these guys to anyone I know. Piss poor service bottom line. I guess you have to go through head office to get anything down.

I purchased a 2013 scion frs a couple months ago from this dealership and have nothing but problems with them. They kept promising me dates to get me my car then call me the day of and say its not ready. They even rear ended my first car that showed up to dealer and said it would be a month before another would show up. My car now has 5000 km on it and there is a squeak in the engine compartment and EVERY piece of my five axis body kit is now coming loose and clear coat peeling. I took it in yesterday to get it all fixed. They called me again about 6 hours later saying " your vehicle is ready to be picked up and ready to go" when I picked it up after hours, all the body kit was still coming loose, clear coat still peeling and still had the squeak. I missed work for them to fix and they didnt even touch it. NOT ONE THING HAS CHANGED. im done with this dealership and never going back and recommend EVERYONE DONT BUY AT SHERWOOD PARK TOYOTA. they are a bunch of inconsiderate idiots who should be ashamed to call themselves a dealership. Thats ends my rant, good day.

Art is not from Canada the manager is from Poland and is an expert at screwing people. Toyota Canada should be active in sorting out this dealership in Sherwood park. Toyotas are a good ride, but the cons on extras and the lies on verbal price compared to the paper price is designed to rob your wallet. They sold packages to my wife that they did not perform. They threatened to sabatoge her vehicle when she returned a new Camry for dangerous problems they even told a eight month pregnant lady they would take the weights off her tires unless she leaves. Had I been in country I would have called the RCMP and cleaned arts clock. This is Canada not Poland. . I recommend you avoid this dealership at all costs.

I've had similar problems with Sherwood Park Toyota. They sold me a Jeep advertised with a 6 speed (as they came standard with in 06) but driving it home it was a 5 speed! Their "inspection" didn't even find the burnt out bulb. The wait times for these guys to get back to you are terrible. I got conflicting stories from all levels. When I finally got a returned call hours later I had already left on an hours drive to check it out. He asked if I could come tomorrow because it was currently receiving the inspection I requested. When I said I was already on my way and would look at it on the hoist, he said "Oh, it should be done when you get here". When I got there, a different sales rep told me they were just driving it in for the inspection!

I had asked for some more pictures for it before I left. He sales rep agreed. I called him a few days later asking, and he said "uuuuuuu, oh my camera broke, you'll just have to come see it". haha. Ya right. No one in that entire building has a spare camera or even a camera phone? My option of them is far less than honest.

They have all sorts of fine print to watch out for. Even though they have a big sign up saying "Certified Pre-owned", they will try and slip in an "As IS" clause.

I think your idea of contacting Toyota Canada is a good idea.

Sherwood Park Toyota is a disgrace to the car industry...

I bought a 2006 dodge Ram in Jan 2009 and the crap they put me through...

-The damage on the truck was not fixed as agreed. Had to take it back to them and leave it for a few days.

-Got the truck back and the bumper and mirror were not in the same shape as I dropped it off (damaged) They still have not fixed it to date.

-Truck was never cleaned and had to remind them of the free tank of gas.

-sold me an extended warranty and would not refund it as they did not know the truck already had a gold 100, 000km that was transferable which I found out on my own.

-There is more, but it just makes my blood boil

I agree with you as well that the finance people at Sherwood Park Toyota are rude and are no better than the common criminal ...and i quote..Were here to make money so too bad about your warranty refund.

All and all the customer service really, really sucks...

The BBB can do nothing for you. But if they say they have a signed bill of sale and you say you didnt sign anything, then ask to see this document.
