Interest scam
Complaint Rating: 100 % with 1 votes
We bought a Select Comfort bed with a 6 month deferred interest offer. If you pay on or before the 6 month period, then there's no interest. The creditor for Select Comfort is GE Money Bank. We sent them payment in full two weeks before the due date (the due date was 4/13/7 and we sent it on 4/1/7) - also, the mailing address was in the same state! Shouldn't be a problem - right? Well, GE said they received payment on 4/19/07. A GE representative told me "there's nothing we can do". The interest rate is nearly 25%. What a SCAM... just say "we didn't receive payment on time" and you're good to make 25%.

If you ever "sign up" for this type of deal, protect your self. Pay a month before the due date or send the check certified mail.

I bought a Select Comfort bed as well. The sales approach is very deceptive. In my case the store manager told me I was approved for "their financing" even though I was fresh out of bankruptcy. Since I never though I would be accepted I never saw the form after the manger took it and had no idea what was on it. She also informed me that there was no interest for 90 days. The regular interest rate was 24.15%, which also I was never told even though the financing company claims I should have gotten a copy of that with my receipt. The thing that was never told was that if not paid in those 90 days all the back interest for those 90 days would then be tacked onto my balance. In my case the financing company was HC Processing. They sit on the payment until you are past due causing me to become delinquent and then they jump my finance rate to nearly 30%. In contacting both the finance company and selct comfort neither one is at all helpful in resolving the problems. They both tell you there is nothing they can do. In my opinion a very dishonest company. I like the product but the financing rate makes it like a rent-to-own ripoff. My advice is don't use their financing it sucks.
