I signed up for a once a month shipment for coffee and within 3 weeks, I'd been sent 6 bags of coffee -after- the original 2 and billed on my credit card 4 times!
These people should be shut down! When you call to complain, they act like you're caller number 10000000 and not important... A very bland "Just return to sender and when we get it we will refund your money." I'm not that stupid, however and intend to press charges against them for theft.

if you want to get a refund from these thieves, here's some good info:

their corporate telephone number is: 847-424-0954

their warehouse number is: 847-647-7293

the customer service manager's name is Rebecca.

the vice president's name is Eric.


what may be the most helpful info of all:

they get their posters from Pyramid America (http://www.pyramidamerica.com/)

and they get their coffee from European Roasterie (http://76.164.129.95/ProductCart/pc/home.asp)


if you make a complaint to their suppliers then perhaps that will get some real results.

I to have been scamed by these crooks! I thought great! Coffee to try for $5! What a crock! $159.85 later in charges on my account and been told they would reverse the charges and stop taking money from my account, they took it again yesterday! I am now going to the bank to press fraud charges along with reporting them to the Attourny General and BBB. I am just sick over this and can't believe I have been swindled like everyone else. Then on top of it not that I'll get anywhere, I can't get a hold of anyone until 10AM. I even am loosing my work wages on this whole thing because I now have to go down to the bank to take care of this crap.

Total SCAM!!! it's funny how similar all of these complaint are. I ordered, and was billed 3 times in 3 days and sent 3 shipments within 3 days. I called and they said "well you didn't check how frequently you wanted coffee" First of all I did and it showed so on the receipt, which by the way I had to request they send to me. I also asked for tracking numbers which they never sent me. So back to the "how frequently you want shipments" box. Even if I hadn't checked it does anyone think a reasonable shipment schedule is two pounds of coffee every other day???
Called, the guy immediately said "okay just return and we'll refund" clearly it's a rehearsed reaction didn't ask for explanation or try to keep me or explain just "okay, thanks." Thanks because in the meantime they're holding my money in their accounts for up to 90 days as they have a 60 refund window.
I called back again after the first refund was issued but the other two were not. Total run around, finally spoke to a manager and she too was evasive and just stuck to the script of "oh it's our policy for 60 days" so I'm like you're basically stealing money from my account for 90 days while you collect interest on it, it takes 2 seconds to pull it from my credit card but 60 days to refund it?? She says well we only get our mail from the warehouse every TWO WEEKS?!?! In 2009 they get their mail every two weeks? Yeah right. It's all just a SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS SERVICE.

I don't even drink coffee!!! I ordered some mugs for gifts, and i guess in the fine print I agreed to become a member and within 15 DAYS!!! THEY HAD SHIPPED ME 4 SHIPPMENTS 39 BUCKS EACH. I should have caught it sooner. The fact that they don't offer refunds only in store credit shows they know exactly what they are doing.

YUP!!! It's all very true!!! They billed me for 3 additional shipments in less than 10 days!! As above, I do not even drink coffee and it was a gift for my son. When I called I was told that they only give store credit - who wants credit with a crook??? So I informed them that if I did not get a refund I would A) call my credit card company B) call the Better Business Bureau and C) call the local TV consumer group until I received my cash refund. I asked if store credit was her final answer or was I to start my calls. She basically said "Go for it". I then called my credit card company and disputed the charges. The very nice woman I spoke to said she was just shaking her head at all that coffee and what was I going to do with it all? Told her I had enough to open a Coffee Shop - LOL. Then I called the Better Business Bureau and found out there was over 924 complaints against this company in the past 36 months and was instructed on how to file one on-line. Within 24 hours of writing my complaint I was contacted by the BBB and told that Seattle Direct had agreed to refund my money since I was an unhappy customer. I am now waiting to make sure the charges are indeed off my card before I mail back these multiple bags of coffee. I will NEVER sign up for another trial offer again...except with Gevalia Coffee which always did exactly as they promised. Good luck to the rest of you and I would suggest the BBB for the fastest results.

As soon as I noticed the first $38.95 fee, I contacted them at 1-888-217-CAFE. The representative stated that another $38.95 was also charged onto my account and explained that I subscribed to their company. Then she asked why I am cancelling my subscription, from which I answered that I never intended to subscribe and only wanted to trial the $5 promotion for my wife (who is a coffee lover).

The representative was actually pretty nice and helped me cancel my subscription and immediately submitted a request to refund the additional $38.95. Unfortunately, on the first order; I will have to send back the shipment and pay for the fees to do so. As soon as they receive the returned shipment, she promised I would receive my refund.

I will let you know what comes out of this and know to look at the fine print going forward.

I agree...it is such a scam. The offer mentioned that it was only $5 but i did not realize it was $5 per item. I get the 1st order then two days later another order is on it's way. My first order was $40. i cant believe this place is still in business.

Such a scam..I call customer service and they tell me that I signed up for once a week shipments! I did no such thing. There wasn't even that option on the site that I filled out, I went over it with a fine toothed comb with my husband at the time. What's with the 'we may send you orders more or less frequently'? A business shouldn't be ran that way at all. It says at the bottom in fine print that you get bi-weekly shipments but they may send them more often and you'll get to pay for every single shipment even if it is every week instead of every other. Half the time, it was not even the right coffee! They tell me to send it back, but they won't send me a confirmation email saying they have received it and that my refund is being sent. Sounds fishy to me..

oh yes we were scamed by these idiots. my boyfriend bought the coffee promo he got points on mafia wars for facebook it was like 6 bucks... or was it?????????? the next day 38.95 and 2 days later 38.95 i about shit my pants. there better be gold in this coffee. omg. so i retured the coffe. (put return to sender on the box or envolope they send it in.) anyways they told me 60 days to retun my money even though they already had thier coffee... so i talked to a manager and got them to get it down to return it in 10-14 buisness days first she tried for 24 buisness days but i aruged that. so tomorrow is the 14 business day and we'll see if my money is back in my account!!! if not bbb here i come

I just got off the phone with them and I am another one of the scam victims. I ordered their coffee and then I cancelled my order, 3 months later I see a charge on my account. I was like what the heck??? Their answer was that they never received my cancellation adn who did I talk to? Who did I talk to? Like I am going to remember a name from 3 months ago. I said it was a guy, as if I wrote it down. Anyway, I reported them to the BBB. The government needs to investigate this company and their business practices, this is illegal!!! What are we supposed to do, stop shopping online? By the way, a little fyi, this company is owned by a parent company, PEEL, INC. And they have many companies, D+ on the BBB scale.

I had the same experience like all of you just that it has been 6 months and i have not received my refund back from these fools. I have been calling the every other week. i do not not know what else to do. They keep telling me that it will post with in 3-5 days. uuuuummm its been 6 months now. last week they gave me the transaction #s for the credits. i am wondering whos they were since i have not seen anything post to my account.

Hi,
I was scammed too by these people. I was charged once for the 5 for $25 then again 1 week later for $39. After that I canceled my account got a confirmation number and 2 months later charged again for 2 months worth of coffee at $79. I called them and they told me all I have to do it send back the product to get a refund (by the way it takes 3 weeks for me to get my stuff from them)but that doesn't help my overdraft charge to my bank account. The lady I spoke with said they have no information on my account cancellation and will still be charged every 2 weeks like normal. I canceled again that day and still have not received my confirmation number in an email like they said they were going to do. She wouldn't let me even talk to the supervisor because he was at lunch for the 3 hours that I kept calling back. I have been calling yet again for 2 hours today and can't get a hold of anyone.

I also was scammed by these people. #7 coffee in 10 days and a lot of money taken from my account. I had to cancel my debit card to prevent further charges. What is wrong with these people? ASnyone have an e-mail address for these idiots?

Has anyone been able to reverse the charges.

We orderd the coffee on 2/26/09 and received the original 38.95 charge on 3/1/09.
On March 23rd we canceled the order and got a confirmation number.
NINE months later we received 2 12 oz. bags of coffee and were charged nearly $160 - two charges of 79.99 on 11/2/09 and again on 11/12/09. We called AGAIN and received ANOTHER confirmation number and still have not had the charges refunded. Any suggestions?

This is theft beyond fraud.

True, true, I also did the "one time" $5.00 deal for Mafia Wars. Thought the mugs would make a nice gift. Then the shipments and charges started piling up. Called, asked to cancel and how to redund. Was told to return coffee and it would be 30 days, well its been alomost 50 days now. Just got off the phone, the rep said, "We have no record of the coffee being returned." Get a tracking #, they will ask for it. Now I am being told it may be another "2 billing cycles" before I see a return. I am contacting my card, and reporting these as fraud!!!
