I had my deck treated by Sealmaxx of Colorado about 5 yrs. ago. The 1st year I called and complained that it looked terrible. I was told it needed to be washed off and that they would come out and do it for me. They did and it looked a little better. Every year since it's been going down hill. I wash it off yearly but it's not starting to splinter and crack. This year I had to give in and have someone come out and sand/stain and seal. My grandkids could not even go out there without getting splinters. This treatment cost me alot of money and I was told it would last for 25 years. All my friends would come over and say that I needed to seal my deck and I would tell them, "OH no it's OK, it's going to last for 25 years" - not so. I had to finely wise up and give in to spending more money on it.

What I meant to say is it is NOW splintering and cracking...

How interesting that I found this site today March 19, 2020. Have been trying to contact SealMaxx of KC only to learn they are no longer in business. AND I think I know why! In 2012, they sealed both our wooden deck and concrete driveway but today in 2020 when I need to talk to them about their 25 year guarantee, no one is there for me to consult. Our deck was new when it was treated in 2012, and only a few days ago, we discovered some major damage--as in rotting-- to several deck boards. Needless to say, I am UNHAPPY and after having talked to two other SealMaxx dealers in O'Fallon, MO, and in Rochester, MN who said they had nothing to offer since they had not done the work originally and no advice about who we could contact, we have concluded that we have been screwed. Thanks much, Mr. Toby Tobin!

We moved in to our new house in 2006. I spent over $2000 to have both our deck and driveway protected with SealMaxx. As far as I can tell, this was worthless. The deck now has some wood rot. The concrete treatment was to protect against spalling. The driveway looks bad with a lot of spalling. The only reason I bought this product was because a local radio host in Kansas City really advertised SealMaxx and really talked them up.

Thanks for all the remarks. I did sign a contract but would not give them any down payment in advance. THANK GOODNESS! (Payment in full was to be given upon completion) I am a retired elderly gal and cannot afford to get taken. Hopefully I will not be held responsible for the contract. Should I call them and cancel or should I wait and see if they contact me?

I'm desperately trying to see if there is some lawsuit against this company. We too had it applied and our deck is in terrible shape now. I've had estimates to replace the flooring and railings on our deck and it will cost us $10, 000 - $11, 000. I think SealMaxx should be responsible. Their 25 year warranty is false and I really feel like we were taken for a lot of money. I filed a complaint with our State's Attorney but of course they can not locate the company. Makes me sick to think of all of the people they have scammed. I trusted the company because of hearing it being advertised everyday on a local radio station.

To update seal max, they never called back or did anything to fix the damage they did to my deck. As far as their 25 year warranty goes it's not worth the paper it's written on. Don't waste your time or money on this defective product.

We had the same problem after seal max did our deck, I think what they did destroyed our deck. We complained to everyone I could but action was ever taken. You ar wasting your money and destroying your deck if you use seal max to protect it.

We had Seal Maxx of SW Florida seal the pavers in our lanai. When they were done there was some white gritty material stuck along the bottom of the metal framing in places. We were told it would "wear off" ... well it hasn't and it's been 4 months. Now that the rainy season is over here we called Seal Maxx to come out and give us a solution to remove whatever it is that is stuck along the bottom of the metal frame. We've been calling them for a week now and they won't return our phone call. Very very poor customer service and no solution to resolve problems when they complete a job. BUYER BEWARE WHEN USING SEAL MAXX OF SW FLORIDA!

We had our deck done by Seal Maxx with the same result, our deck was brand new and in 5 years it is rotting away. You cant walk on the deck without shoes on or you will get splinters. They said it restores wood to its original and natural color, not true. This was very expensive and we did it so as not to have to do it every year, boy were we wrong. Please don't waste your money on failed product. It takes over a week of me calling them to even get a response, which is of no use anyway.

Agreed exactly with "fishin fool" above. RUINED! So much for the "Certificate" of 25 year warranty we have. If anything, the sealant sped the decaying process up and now it is to be tore down due to being brittle and splintering and just decaying away.

We too had our $15, 000 deck coated by Sealmaxx and the deck is pretty much trash. It's brittle, breaking off on the railing and splintering. It has ruined our deck. I too would like to take part in a lawsuit if there is one.

We had our 2 year old deck done by Sealmaxx in 2006. We are experiencing the same problems as many of you. When we called to complain none of the numbers were in service. Now looking back at our receipts, there are different addresses and phone numbers on all of them. I wish we would have paid a little more attention back in 2006. As they say hindsight is 20/20.
If there is a lawsuit we would like to be a part of it.

We too had our new $10K deck done by Sealmaxx, to preserve our investment and save us time in sealing every year. Mine isn't even 5 years old! The wood looks horrible, dry, splintering and cracking. I'd like to be part of a class action if there is one.

Debbie,

Thanks for the info. Looks like there are a lot of complaints about this company on the web. In addition, I understand they've gone out of business too! Good luck

www.sealmaxx.com now goes to some video website in Iowa.
