saveup.com review: Fake promises 23

I've applied for a program at this website but their rules proved to be full of hidden charges and conditions. Once you are into this thing you realize that there is no way you can win anything and you will loose your money eventually. There even was $2 million jackpot won recently and they didn't announce any winners, looks like it is fraud.

I recently heard about this site from Money magazine. I signed up and most of my accounts were easily linked and there were no problems. Then they got some new account linking vendor. I have had nothing but problems re-linking accounts. I re-linked a few both got errors with most. Then I successfully re-linked most of the accounts, only to find that today, once again, several "Need attention". Attempts to re-link again were unsuccessful, and I know everything is right because I had the account open. If it isn't broken, don't break it. As with most other commenters here, I have "won" only credits and stamps, which have no substantive value.

I've been a member of Saveup for about two years. It is not a scam and the winners are not phony. Case in point, I won $50 on one of those pick three games with the playing cards about six months or so after I joined. They sent me a check which I cashed at Veridian. Not a scam. Frustratingly, I haven't won anything since then, but I don't really play that often anymore. It does help me keep track of finances, though.

I know that the company SaveUp.com was recently sold to Paul J. Burt and is running the business in Lake Forest, IL. Do your research and due diligence before you divulge ANY personal information, especially financial. Previous posts imply it's a scam. Research the previous owners in CA and the new owner in IL. Then decide if you want to play. It sounds like even if you win and try to contact the company for your winnings, you are simply ignored...check out LinkedIn.com to see a photo and bio of the new owner.

I signed up about 2 years ago and have lost interest in this site because after going on religiously everyday for months at a time I ad never won anything or gotten anything useful from this site. I like the idea but I feel it is poorly executed. I would like to see better use for stamps, more turnover in the prize offerings (its the same prizes that have been posted up there the whole time) and an account tracker that actually refreshes regularly. I find the information they have up for my accounts is always out of date and no matter how many times i hit the refresh button it never updates. And i would buy it that people were winning if after some time the prize would leave the page. I feel it would be better if say the 50k debt be gone prize didnt have the possibility to pay out little $10 prizes and instead was just a win all or lose situation until someone wins it and then it falls off the page. i feel that should apply to all their games. Put the smaller prize amounts on their own game and give some more plays to compensate. I mean by the time someone wins those 2013 cars they got on there they are gonna be antiques.

I have been playing a lot and only get free magazines which are not really good. I wish they would let us win at least a 5 dollar prize or something to keep you interested. I am losing interest because I have never won ever.

I actually had three things match, photos. It didn't lead to anything. When I wrote an email to the company about a week or so ago, no response. I wish I'd taken a picture of the three images...it was for a lesser cash prize, not a big one, but still. I'm leery they have my information, and the silly credits don't buy anything. Just points off from places at which I don't wish to shop or magazines that I have absolutely no interest in. It seems pretty pointless. I'm thinking of deleting my account.

Yeah, a scam. I have had multiple "10 credit" winnings as well as other credit "winnings" so often that I have had them 3 in a row. It runs smoothly. But when I get 2 "BIG WINNING" matches the 3rd ALWAYS hangs up and a mismatch shows. I am talking about the "pick 3" game by the way. Seems fishey as I seem tho be the luckiest guy on the planet for "10 credit" winnings as I get them over and over and over again but when I match 5K or any other big winning it hangs at 2 picks then the 3rd is ALWAYS a mismatch. I don't think this site is at all honest. Being an "online" game site it is far too easy to put "never allow a win" into the code. Not sure how this place makes money but I don't see this place as a trust worthy site.

I wish that saveup.com actually had true prizes for stamps, such as Amazon gift cards or real store e-gift cards that act as cash. I have so many stamps that are worthless. I think Saveup might now be a scam with higher odds than they list, or the prize money has been spent out by now, so they are now raking in the money on advertising instead of actually doing something to improve the prizes beyond the games. In all honesty, I have had better luck at winning money in Vegas than I have here, and I play far less there.

Maybe it's just away to a access people's account numbers and information, has anyone thought about all of the scams we are involved in, but never really think about it as harmful well!it could be. I'm not doubting this company, I've personally never used it, but working in a financial industry makes me consider giving my information.
It only takes one time to steal ones information, so really think about where you share personal info.

I actually have won money with this program (I was pretty skeptic as to whether or not people actually won money until I got a $100 check in the mail). It was for a pair of new shoes the money for which I certainly used. This is a fun and thus far safe program to use.

I have won as well but only $10. Quite a bit of credits though. To all of the haters out there, it's quite simple, you don't like it, don't play it. Of course I haven't heard of anyone winning a car or the big payout money, it's free and fun to play.

Saveup offers a tool for people to keep track of spending and pay off debt. The games and prizes are a bonus. It shouldn't matter that the odds of winning are so slim because you will never pay money for anything on the site. It's a great deal! I would like it if there were better rewards for stamps, not just discounts or magazine subscriptions. Something like 100 stamps for $5 amazon gift card. I figure if I save up my credits and play the maximum (including buying plays) plays of lotto each day for a month that would be 240 lotto tickets. I'd bring the odds of winning $2 million to 1/709, 293 still not great odds for a lot of effort but who cares, it costs me nothing.

Although I do not agree with the severity of the complaint of the original poster (SaveUp has NEVER cost me any money) I do agree with some of the other posters that after almost two years of winning nothing but more credits, it has become very frustrating lending to the question, "How often do they really pay out these prizes?" As I said, I joined SaveUp almost two years ago when I first saw it advertised on my CU's website. I linked all of the accounts I have and over the course of those two years, only occasionally have I NOT played each day. Furthermore, there was a stretch of over six or seven months (after they allowed you to exchange 100 credits each for up to five additional plays a day) where not only did I play every single day but I was able to play at least 8 times each day. I have never won more than credits. It is quite discouraging to say the least. The disappointment and discouragement certainly doesn't cause me to sway from my spending and saving habits but it sure would be nice if I were actually rewarded like the program leads one to believe. I still have an account but don't play nearly as often as I used to. I suppose the site admins would say that's why I haven't won?

The complaint shows this person did not read and has probably never actually been to the site. I am among the few "real" people i guess because after being on SaveUp.com for only about a year I can say I did win $50 playing their games. It was only once and I have never managed to win anything other than credits after that but I did ACTUALLY WIN and they paid me via PayPal within 3-5 days. I understand the complaints and frustration... I'm there too but I did manage to win ONCE.

You know it would really help if the list of winners had dates and at least like the state/city they're in. Otherwise it might as well just be a static page since no one can tell when the last time was that ANYONE won anything. If it would show who won stuff if you look their account profile, it'd go a LONG way to proving the site was for real.

There are no hidden Fees on Saveup.com but the only prizes you will get are points that can only be used to buy more turns to play for more points. Also, the odds of winning anything aside from useless points are very bad when you look at the fine print even for relatively cheap prizes. Another problem is with the random stamp tokens which if you get 10 will grant you a coupon that you have to SPEND money in order to use otherwise you get an E trophy that does nothing.

I'd like it better if I could just save up points to buy a prize with them like soda companies do when you enter codes or get some sort of cash back. Even if the rate was $1 for even $100 saved or debt paid off it would still be something that would help us save money or reduce debt. The games themselves aren't very imaginative it's pretty much gloried lotto tickets they could at least put more effort into that.

I don't agree with the complaint by Dennis; however, I signed up for Saveup.com a few months ago, and I'm getting frustrated because I NEVER WIN anything. I log on daily, and play for prizes, but still nothing. I'm struggling to see how anyone can possibly win anything from this site, and I believe that the posted "winners" are phony. The odds of winning anything are slim to none. Check their policy on the odds of winning. I've given up trying to win the $2 million jackpot (because its pointless, virtually impossible, and I would HATE to pay the taxes associated with a $2 million cash payout), and have played for smaller prizes (like gift cards and smaller cash payoffs) because the odds are winning are more favorable. However, I can't even win a measly $5. Instead all I "win" are their stupid credits. I don't even understand the purpose of these credits. I can't convert them into anything substantial, like a cash payout, debt payoff...so why offer them? Plus, you have to spend credits to get credits. Playing a game cost 10 credits each. Majority of the time, you can only win 2 or 5 credits, so you're constantly losing credits. This is a big scam! Plus, the games they offer are stupid. You can play "3 of a kind", pick 3 mystery suitcases, or throw balls to hit 3 targets. Lame! Why not offer more games, instead of these childish games, and something at an adult level? That employee Jean Park had mentioned that Saveup.com wants to add "a bit of fun and excitement" while playing. Well Jean, why are your games so dull and boring? How about making various games that require skill, complexity, are stimulating and at an adult level, instead of the baby drivel you are forcing on us? Recently, I've noticed that many of my retirement and savings accounts cannot be accessed from Saveup.com. These are accounts that I make monthly contributions to, which would earn many credits and make up my credit deficit when I play their stupid games. Now all of a sudden, Saveup.com cannot access or see the deposits I'm making, and I'm not being credited for my good saving habits and behavior. Saveup.com customer service/technical help has been no help whatsoever, as they say "their engineers are working on it." It has been almost a month, and they can't troubleshoot this issue. Really? How difficult can it be? I find this very convenient for Saveup.com, and this is another way they avoid rewarding people for their good efforts. So far, Saveup.com is nothing but empty promises. It's like receiving a lump of coal on Christmas. I'll probably withdraw my account, because of their empty promises and lies. I also recommend to anyone reading this to consider before signing up with Saveup.com. I think its cruel that they say they will reward people with prizes, yet you play their dumb games, and nothing will come of it. They just want you to log on daily, and play their silly games, like drones. The more people Saveup.com gets signing up for their "service", and generating traffic to their site; the richer Saveup.com becomes...not the person struggling in this economy to pay off their debt, working 2 or 3 jobs to make end meet, foreclosing on their home, etc. If you want to be rewarded for good saving habits or paying off debt, you won't find it at Saveup.com!

There are no charges, hidden or otherwise. There are rules, but not hidden conditions, as they're all published on the website. You can't lose money playing because it doesn't cost anything to play. This is a company trying to reward people for making good financial decisions (contributing to savings and paying down debt) and for learning about basic personal finance. This complaint is baseless.

Hi Dennis,

My name is Jean Park and I work at SaveUp. I'm sorry that you haven't had the best experience at SaveUp. SaveUp is 100% free to use with no hidden fees. We will never charge you money to earn credits or play for prizes. You never lose money by playing SaveUp. We actually hope that you improve your financial well-being by using SaveUp. You earn virtual credits every time you save money in your own bank account or make a payment on your own loan or credit card. You redeem the credits to play for the prizes. The odds are long to win the big prizes but we hope that we are creating a little bit of fun and excitement to an action that most people think is somewhat boring or overwhelming. People win prizes every day, but for their privacy, we do not publish their full names, photos or the amount they've won without their permission. We publish the rules and odds to win in the description section of each prize. You can also find the odds on our rules section (www.saveup.com/rules). We have a $2 million jackpot drawing every month. There was no grand prize winner (nobody matched 6 out of 6 numbers) for our May Super Jackpot drawing. We did, however, have several people match 4 out of 6 numbers and win money. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know at support@saveup.com. SaveUp is 100% free and you will never have to pay money to play for the $2, 000, 000 jackpot or any other prizes on our site.

Thanks for playing SaveUp.

Best,
Jean Park (support@saveup.com)
