Beware of this Scam, you can kiss your money goodby. This is run by a person who calls themself Susie Stein who will answer
to this phone no, say whatever is necessary to solicit your $85, then after payment, will send you a statement informing you that
your subscription is non-refundable. This is the only time you will hear from her. When all attempts to contact her for referrals have
have been impossible, I wrote her a letter requesting my money back, and also stated I would be posting my experience with her
"service" on [redacted], Consumer Complaints, Scam Alert, and FBI e-scams & warnings, she still refused to respond. She
claims to have been "doing this" since 1977, yet there is no history of this company on the net when I tried to verify anything she
claimed. Is it possible that someone can get away with this for so long right under everyone's eyes? I urge anyone who has dealt with Susie Stein to post their experience either positive or negative. After much digging, the only comments I've been able
to find all echo exactly what has been stated by myself and the others on this and other complaint forums. Please take the time
to post your comments, as it seems this is the most effective way to inform the public of these predators who go about stealing
money with impunity.

Well it looks like my letter to Suzy Stein got some results. Her website is now inactive and the phone number has been changed.
Guess things were getting a little too hot in the kitchen. Think she will probably let things cool off and then emerge from another
hole. Will be keeping an eye out for Stein and her next scam. Thanks for your support.

Yes, you're correct, Roommatefinders.net is up and running again. As mentioned, last week when I tried the .net website (not the .com) it was disabled. Just tried the advertised phone no. @ [protected] today and it was now up again also, and after a month of unanswered phone calls, she must have cleaned out her mailbox, and now allows callers to leave a message which I did, requesting her to contact me. Last week it gave a different phone no. with no identification. Looks like she is soliciting business again. I think it would be great if you did stop by and give her our regards. It would be most interesting to find out if the address listed on her website
is her bedroom, or maybe just a front to receive mail and look legitimate. Let us know what you find out, should be fun!

Thank you Scammed Again and Lancera for posting your experiences here, and think it's important to keep her scam exposed to the unsuspecting public. She must be cut from the same cloth as Bernie Made-off, and has learned how to abuse a system which is based on trust and honesty. I do make calls to her on a regular basis, and have determined that she must have balls of brass to continue with this, deception and must think she's immune to anyone or agency. I have informed her that I have posted comments here and with the FBI's ic3.gov/complaints (e scams and internet crime) and of course there has been no response from Suzy. The FBI sent a response to my complaint stating that they would forward my info to appropriate authorities in her area, but not to expect any further communication from them (probably overwhelmed by all the crime out there and would guess this is small potatos to them) and as Scammed Again related, the BBB has no teeth either and exists only to promote itself. The only effective recourse appears to be posting alerts on the better known websites, and I strongly urge that anyone who seriously wants to expose her to also make comments on /link removed and ic3.gov/complaint.com (FBI). I am also thinking that the IRS may also be interested in what she has " been doing since 1977" If anyone has more ideas or websites, please share them with us. If enough people make some noise, someone may listen!

In reply to the above comment, I agreed and paid my $85 with a Visa Debit Card. BIG MISTAKE! After a couple of weeks with
no responses etc. from Suzy Stein, I contacted Visa and disputed the charge, and had to fill out a bunch of paperwork. They
then put a temporary refund on my account, and contacted Stein, who would not respond or reply. At that point Visa basically
washed their hands of the matter, and re-debited my account. I then filed complaints with the FBI fraud scam website as mentioned
above who responded that they would contact "appropriate authorities and agencies" but would not contact me regarding their
efforts. I assume this is small potatoes to them, and not important enough to investigate. I am a busy person and have not had the time to persue this, but will be doing so again soon. I will be contacting the Fort Lauderdale DA but will expect to be told that this contract was created in Florida, and I'm in California so nothing will result from it. If anyone from Florida has been burned by Stein, I think it may be worth contacting the Ft. Lauderdale DA. The BBB is not capable of doing anything also. Am thinking the IRS may be interested, and will have to go much effort to file a complaint. If anyone has any other suggestions, please speak up! It's unbelievable and unaccectable, that Stein can continue to operate this scam so openly with no immunity, and will continue to do this until someone beats her at her own game. Can't believe Stein has invited me to friend her on Linkedin ! which will make her look legitmate and
not allow me to make any comments. If anyone feels as strongly about this as I do, please post your comments. I will be doing this as a matter or principle, and have no faith in our "Legal System" but will consider this a challange, and hopefull get some satisfaction if we can stop her.

This is very interesting because I actually used this service twice in the past and found a roommate each time. But it was long time ago the first one was 1995, and the second one was 2009. Yeah, Susie or Susan was one of the employees at the time. I guess the things went down and she took advantage of their experiences. I'm glad that I checked these reviews as I was going to use the service again. Hitomi

I fell for the same scam...Innocently looking for a service to help me find a roommate in the California area (very expensive to live alone here). My story is a ditto of everything written above. She took my $85.00 and no further contact with her via email or phone calls. Nobody is home. I immediately reported it to my bank who reports it to the dispute/fraud department and they will reimburse me and send the watch dogs after her. The woman has no soul and is corrupt. There will be a payback day for her evil acts..

Wow, I cannot believe she is still allowed to do business! Any one of your stories could be mine. She charged me $100 on my debit card last June for which I have no recourse. I have tried to call dozens of times and sent many emails with no reply. On the one very rare occasion that she actually answered the phone, she interrupted me and placed me on a permanent hold then hung up. Has anyone here actually recouped their money? I wonder if there is anything we can do as a group to get our money back?

Beware- Total rip off. Susan is a Pro ! Was looking for a roommate for my NYC apt. was hesitant is paying an advance fee but she was so convincing after contacting her a few times and when she told me she had 4 perfect matches and even described them in detail I agreed to sign up . Wanted to do it at their so called NY office (which does not exist) but she convinced me to do it over the phone and would send me the contract and receipt after.. After paying I asked her for the 4 leads, then the stall begin for the 3 day right of cancellation period, said she needed to check my reference first. OK 4 days later after I confirmed she contacted my references I asked her again for the 4 perfect leads, Hello they no longer existed! but to call in every week., 6 weeks later and realizing I was coned and not buying her excuse's she stopped answering my calls. I filed a complaint with my CC company, the Florida BBB & Attorney Generals office only to find out their contract (which they do not show on their web site and mail to you a week after you pay is air tight. "They" can cancel the service at their discretion any time and keep the fee but you can't..

More details is - I signed up 3 months ago and she has not done anything to help me. I am very well informed with other websites that are much cheaper and this person has not even contacted the 3 people I gave her for background checks. She is not doing anything accept collecting your money and hiding. Don't donate to her service, you won't have any help for the money, guaranteed.

I just fell prey to this scam and have been calling her a lot. She claims that she will get back to me. She has this harsh tone now, very different then the nice informed tone I had when I signed up. I plan to post my experience all over the place. ROOMMATEFINDERS.NET IS A COMPLETE SCAM! Don't give her a dime!

I just loOKed at your list minutes before I was just about to pay the $85. What made me uneasy is that only one person's voice is on their outgoing message (Susie Stein), and she never picks up the phone and only Susie Stein returns your calls. I noticed that her email did not mention any real information, her interview was very sloppy if she was going to match someone and she wants to only interview you on the phone and supposedly call your references when you give HER their phone number.
THANK YOU ALL FOR POSTING HERE! You saved me from yet another scam.

Have any of you since found a good site for finding roommates? I live in California and I am looking for an older, female roommate to live in my home. Large room is furnished and pets are OK. email is dcicconi@ca.rr.com.

I can believe this, I did not see this coming and now look at all this emails this makes me upset. It not fair that someone is stealing from out pockets, I gave her $85 to look for a roommate match and she not return my call and just not answering the emails. I got a receipt that say non refundable. this hurts because now she got my information and continue to scam. I did it with my visa debit card too.I and I wonder if it too late to disputed my charges. She still getting away with it this happen since oct 25, 2012

Suzie strikes again...lol..funny, but NOT funny. Same exact story as everyone else. I did think it was a bit strange that little Suzie seemed to run this whole roommate empire by herself. She mailed me the letter with receipt which seemed a little hokey but I did what she said and called back the "Reference Department" to make sure my references were checked, mean while none my references said that anyone from roommatefinders had called. Bingo! first red flag. So when I did reach her she totally blew me off and said she'd call back with referrals later. I'm like, huh...and then I kinda went off on her. I called me credit card and had the 85.00 taken off. TIP...you can call credit card when something doesnt seem right and in most cases they will take it off.

We could always make lots of calls every day and leave short messages, she won't listen more than 2 seconds to each one, but lets be a nuisance to her and make her wish she never met us! Let's unite and make her life MISERABLE!

HI
My brother got scammed too 2 weeks ago, she won't return any call or email after payment made. Problem is he paid with an intl. card not a US one so that money is gone. In ref. to the address, in the BBB review (BTW is F) . Address 1: 5353 N. Federal Hwy., Ste. 212 Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308 and address 2 is: 1128 Royal Palm Beach Blvd. Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411 Address one is an office building (but who knows if there is an actual business; i suppose she has this as a side scam or something and may work in the building but for another company!) Address 2 is the UPS Store. They rent her the PO Box in there. So, the best luck will be to find her at address 1...
Now the phone on the site (scroll all the way down) is [protected]. An address in NY?!
There is no company in Florida registered with that name nor does any Suzie Stein appears as an officer of any other company. I wish he had checked all this before loosing that money.

I would bet anything that she won't return your call. She doesn't have to, and she doesn't have a moral bone in her body.

Well, Joseph, I think you made the same mistake as me, by typing in roommate finders.com... Our good friend Suzie is still at roommate finders.net... I'm so looking forward to visiting her neck of the woods in Florida soon and cause some mischief in her life!

Yes, I've posted a similar complaint. I wish you and I would have known to check here and similar places first before getting involved with Suzie's scam, roommatefinders.net. The BBB is no help at all, they said they send a request for information to her, they said she didn't respond, so they had to close the case. What ###! Anyway, the more we put out the word, we may have a possibility of making enough of a dent in her business, although I'm sure she's making wonderful money from many people's $85.
