Restaurant.com Gift cards and customer service

Can't pull up my gift cards that I have in my account, over $100 worth. Customer service lines always ring busy. Maybe they have so many complaints they just leave the phone off the hook, IDK. Big Rip Off! Web site is poor at best because if you click a link the page won't load. I contacted customer support once before and they replied days later and really did not answer my questions. Gift cards always leave a few dollars in you account and you can't use the change from a purchase, so its money you end up giving them. WE NEED A CLASS ACTION SUIT TO GET THIS COMPANY SHUT DOWN!

Restaurant.com Restaurants refusing to accept gift certificates

I went to starving artist cafe in easley sc today and spent 50.00, attempting to use a 25.00 GC. They refused to honor it. I'm pretty upset as the r3staurant wasn't great to begin with and then having to spend all my cash, not to mention the extreme embarrassment of being refused.
I don't understand why the cafe doesn't post that they don't accept the GC instead of springing it on you when it's too late. I owned several restaurants and gladly accepted the GPS. But nowadays there are so few restaurants and next to impossible to use. I also see loads of complaints online so it's probably not long before restaurant is out of business. I really feel like I should be reimbursed for the 25.00 I paid and you can gladly have the GC.

Restaurant.com Horizon ridge mini mart

I purchased the certificate Dec 10 and try to use it Dec 18. The owner told me the certificate is old and he will not accept. I got the only offer from restaurant.com for $10 to exchange with $20 use. He claimed he does not have this offer. He basically refused me to use the coupon.

I do not understand. I have been a customer with restaurant.com years and never have problem with the restaurant. He is rude and he makes me feel like I scam him? He told me my certificate is not valid? He said anything to discourage me to use the certificate. I feel like a fool!

I told him if not for the restaurant.com, I will never know there is a mini mart here. I am angry and I think he ruined the reputation. He should be out from restaurant.com.

Restaurant.com $25 certificate from united airlines mileage

Tonight (12/11/2016) I attempted to use the first of several of your certificates issued through my UA mileage account only to be rebuffed at the restaurant that refused to accept the "Does not expire, " $25 certificate.

Restaurant.com Impossible to contact yous

Please help? Ive tried the web page over 20 times and ive called a dozen times. And nothing! I have eight certificates that all are to permanently closed restaurants. Ive tried to "exchange" these through the web site but it never worked. I typed everything precisely as it should be and it tells me the code i typed for proof im not a robot is always incorrect. I have attach pics so you can clearly see that is wrong! I emailed and only received a generic "how to exchange" reply. It's not working! Therefore, generic responses do nothing. I tried to call and your customer service phone number is outside my calling area! Wtf is that?!?!? I just want a human to try and understand my frustration. Your app and web page blow! I need real help! From a human being! What an unbelievable hassle this is!

im listing all EIGHT of my gift certificates that are to places permanently closed and maybe, just MAYBE, a person will help...

Restaurant.com Seriously incompetent

They contacted me to redeem my gift certs and the site is broken. This ALWAYS HAPPENS. I e-mailed the help section four times and got back nothing but automated responses that were clearly generated to answer general questions about how to use the site. No human is ever available to actually answer anything.
The service is mediocre as the certificates have such $ minimums that I typically have to buy way too much to even use them and if you don't scour the fine print you will miss something important and the restaurant may deny you. Restaurants stop honoring the certs frequently and I get the distinct impression that they get screwed too.

Restaurant.com Gift cards & websites

I used Restaurant.com certificates for several years, until the participating restaurants started adding ridiculous requirements, like "Redeemed Mon-Thurs only, 4 diners and $100 minimum purchase" - for a $25 certificate that cost me $10. I ended up only getting 15% off, worse deal than a coupon.
A lot of restaurants started dropping out and going to Groupon. Every time they did, my certificates were converted to gift cards by the company. Finally I ended up with over $400 in cards and no where to use them.
Recently the site added a new tab to their menu, called "Specials by Restaurant.com" that offered products and event tickets.
When I tried by some tickets using a Restaurant.com gift card at the checkout, I was told my gift cards weren't any good there. "Specials by Restaurant.com, sitting under the Restaurant.com web site was a "sister site" and the products and tickets could only be purchased by credit card.

They continually ignored me when I asked why the check out included Gift Cards, especially when Specials didn't offer gift cards, though they claim it does.
Restaurant.com is a cheap shadow of Groupon and the many other deal sites.

Restaurant.com Gift Certificate

Restaurant.com sells various gift certificates to various restaurants so the buyer gets a discount or viewed in another way greater purchasing power.

Unfortunately there are many instances that the restaurant certificates advertised on their website either don't do business with Restaurant.com or no longer do business with the company.

This becomes an inconvenience for the buyer of the certificates when the arrive at the establishment because of the certificates they purchased and are told it is not valid.

Restaurant.com Theidealmeal.com - $100 gift card

I was given a GC for Restaurant.com but the instructions on the back tell me to log in to www.theidealmeal.com. When I try to do that, the website is not available. When I called the customer service number on the back of the card, I get a busy signal - then a definite hang up.

This GC/certificate code is only good for theidealmeal.com - you can't redeem it on restaurant.com -- so, I guess it is absolutely worthless.

Why are these cards out there and why doesn't restaurant.com do something to let people know they can use the value on the restaurant.com website instead?

Restaurant.com They are listing restaurants offering discounts who actually haven't signed up to offer a discount

I am a restaurant owner in Rome, GA and a customer came into my restaurant today with a coupon from Restaurant.com that read $25 certificate with purchase of $50. We NEVER Signed up with this company or agreed to offer this type of promotion.

This is very bad for business when a customer thinks they have a coupon that we do not honor. They get upset with us and it's not our fault. Restaurant.com is using our restaurant information fraudulently.

Someone needs to contact this company that they cannot use our information or any other restaurant's information to offer discounts if the restaurant hasn't agreed to it.

I am a restaurant owner in Midlothian, a suburb of Richmond, VA. Today a family of four comes in and presents a coupon $25 off of a $50 Purchase. I was shocked because I never even signed up for such a deal nor knew a company names Restaurant.com. WHAT A SCAM!. I had to explain to the customers and offer some sort of discount since they had no idea either.

I plan on suing them. This is totally unacceptable. Please contact me if you have been in the same situation.

Restaurant.com They are selling fake gift cards!

Don't use this service, they are selling gift cards that are not working. I have purchased a $100 gift card and invited my girlfriend on a date. We arrived at the restaurant, ordered some food and enjoyed the evening. But when we finished our meal and I provided them my gift card they said that they don't accept gift cads! I told them that I have purchased it from www.restaurant.com and they said that they don't know anything about that. Truly a scam!

Restaurant.com Fake coupon!

I have purchased a coupon from www.restaurant.com and it seemed like a great deal, but it was too good to be true! So I invited my girlfriend to a restaurant and she was very excited about that. The restaurant I picked was extremely expensive but I had my coupon. So, we arrived, ordered some meals and drinks. That was a wonderful evening and we spent a great time together, until it was time to pay. Coupon did not work and restaurant stuff told they had no idea about any coupons. Then I asked for a manager, he was very polite and apologized. But unfortunately I had to pay the full price. Avoid this site at all costs, they are selling fake coupons!

Restaurant.com Shortchange on Gift Certificate Exchange

I had a $25 gift certificate that I needed to exchange because the restaurant was no longer a part of Restaurant.com. I exchanged for two [2] $10 certificates and should have had a remaining $5 to use for another "deal". I have emailed at least 7 times and while getting a response to each email, the issue has not been resolved. They tell me I have a $5 credit in "My Account" but I do not. The latest return email asked me to email "[protected]@restaurant.com" and let whomever know how the email respondent was doing. That did not work either; therefore, this complaint. It's not the amount I have been short changed on; it's the principle.

Restaurant.com Unauthorized sales of Don Carlos Mexican restaurants in Houston and Waco Texas

Customers came in with Restaurant.com's certificates in hand to redeem them for $10.00 and $15.00 face value off their bills. We have no idea where Restaurant.com is selling the certificates for our 4 Texas locations. When the owner called Restaurant.com. The said there is no written contract or agreement between Don Carlos and Restaurant.com. The agreement was done over the phone. When pressed again who was the contact person that sold the agreement to Don Carlos. Restaurant.com said they used an "Outside source" that brought in the agreement and they could not provide the name of the person or company that brought them Don Carlos. That sounded extremely fishy and did not pass the smell test. Asked them again if they used any inside personnel to verify the validity of the agreement that was brought in by "Outside source". They said they verified by phone, again no name of person on either end of the telephone conversation. Don Carlos has demanded Restaurant.com to cease selling the invalis certificates to the unsuspecting consumers for their own gain. Consumers need to be alerted of this unprofessional and unethical business to deceive consumer for their money and create animosity between the unsuspected business and consumers. Both the business and consumers are the victims of the unethical practice of Restaurant.com. Don Carlos Mexican Restaurants will bring this matter to Better Business Bureau's attention.

Restaurant.com scam cannot redeem purchased gift certificate

12/02/2015 I received a restaurant.com $50 gift certificate from a local store for making a purchase there. I registered myself on restaurant.com's web site including the code on the back of my gift certificate. I was able to view the participating restaurants on restaurant.com's site but when I went to redeem my card they said it did not exist. I contacted restaurant.com's customer via thru e-mail, which is the only way to contact them, and received a robo e-mail reply telling me how to properly redeem the gift certificate. After trying several more times and receiving the same e-mail back I threw the $50 dollar gift certificate away. It's just a scam.

Restaurant.com Sell invalid restaurant gift certificate

I purchased 3 local restaurant certificates, for "Sake house Japanese cuisine restaurant", from "Restaurant.com". Today i went there and tried to use it but rejected by the restaurant owner. Then I called the restaurant.com costumer service and talked to the supervisor Ms. Anna. She said she can't do nothing beside exchange this certificate to another. I am afraid to buy/exchange more this type "certificate" which only cheat you to have more expensive meals.

Restaurant.com unauthorized issuance of gift certificate

restaurant.com issued gift certificates without my knowledge. I called them and they said they would take care of it. They did not. People come in and use there certificates to get free food. I try not to turn these people away as that is bad business. Restaurant.com is a morally bankrupt business. The only people benefitting are the people who take the money. I am sure when people are told that we do not take the coupons they feel bad. Either way people feeling bad is a no win for everyone. Restaurant.com's business model does not work.

I bought a "certificate" from restaurant.com for Eclipse Spanish Tapas Restaurant in Evansville, IN. When I went to pay the bill, the waitress said they do not accept the "certificate." So, I bought a "certificate" that I can't even use. I wish I knew how to get my money back! What a SCAM! Restaurant.com and Eclipse Spanish Tapas Restaurant are both to blame...

Restaurant.com sells "gift certificates" (actually money-off coupons) for restaurants that do not honor them, because (they say) they did not sign up for the offer. My only alternative is to take the loss or trade the coupons for another equally worthless one.

Once the certificate producers have your restaurant signed up they will not let you out of the contract. 'Regulars' use them regularly and there is no benefit to the restaurant. They change the terms at will so customers do not have any limit to the way they use them. Don't get involved!

This company falsely represents themselves. They invite you to sign your restaurant up for their promotion and then they tell you you can cancel at any time. This is completely false. They will not cancel without a waiting period. Buyer beware. This company will be out of business soon.

Beware of items you might be buying that offer a discount card from restaurant.com. They are a big SCAM..coupons offered for you favorite restaurant on there site...that says...more coupons coming on the 1st. of the month is an outright lie! The coupons will never be offered...so your gift card you received is just about worthless unless you use it for some off the wall place that you don't want to use it for. Again..Buyer Beware..SCAM..SCAM...SCAM...SCAM!

Restaurant.com thieves

This all started on Oct 1st 2014 when I moved to a new home 80 miles away from my old stomping grounds. At this point in time I logged into my restaurant.com account and attempted to exchange the certificates for restaurants in my old neighborhood with ones in the new area I am living in. After several failed attempts to exchange certificates following the procedures outlined on restuarant.com's help section I chalked it up to the website having a glitch. A week later I came back to try again, still no luck, two weeks later, three weeks later still no luck. So November rolls around I try a couple more times off and on and still nothing. So I utilize the help contact on the restaurant.com website, explain my situation in detail on 11.24.2014, highlighting the fact that I had followed the instructions on how to exchange a certificate multiple times and that it was not working. Shortly after I sent the help request I was sent a reply by somebody named Ashley Lanham, the reply was nothing but a carbon copy of the instructions posted on the website on how to exchange certificates. The very same instructions I had followed and had informed the company that I had followed them in an attempt to exchange. I responded to Ashley Lanham on 11.24.2014 explaining all this again and never received anything further. On 11.25.2014 I sent another email to restaurant.com stating everything that had already happened and that the exchange function was not working, I took the time to highlight the fact that I had already tried this multiple times and that it still was not working and even attached the previous emails. They responded on 11.25.2014 with nothing other than the instructions posted on their site for exchanging certificates. So I logged onto the BBB and found their phone number and contacted them by phone on 11.25.2014 and spoke to a person who called himself Raul. I explained to Raul that I wanted a refund and I was tired of the games his company was playing, I informed him that I needed to speak to a supervisor. Raul told me that his supervisor was not in and that they had a no refund policy, but I should feel free to utilize the website to exchange the certificates. I then told Raul that I did not believe that a business would be in operation with no supervisor, and that I wanted to speak to a supervisor, the boss or the owner of the company as I was certain that he was not the end all be all of company decisions. I was placed on hold. Raul came back on and stated his boss was in a meeting, I then asked Raul why he had told me that there was no supervisor there and then immediately changed it to my boss is in a meeting. He responded with " you never asked for a supervisor, you just told me you wanted to talk to my boss or the owner." Good job Raul, you fail at customer service by the way. Raul also refused to provide me with a direct link to a supervisor, said he did not have a phone number, and there was no way for me to speak with them. Raul would also not provide a name of a supervisor. Put on hold again. Raul then informed me that he had talked to his boss and they were waiting to hear from me. I then asked him to transfer me, he said no and that I should email them at [protected]@resaurant.com. He said again they were waiting for me to contact them, I said ok transfer me then to their phone. At this point in time Raul was kind enough to transfer me to an extension with a pre recorded message stating that restaurant.com was closed and to call back during normal business hours. Strange since I called them during there normal business hours.

Your Desired Resolution:
In my eyes there is nothing this company can do to make this right other that refund me 100%. I have no desire to deal with this company any more as they possess absolutely no customer service skills at all. They blindly relpy to help emails obviously not reading anything their customers are writing. Their customer support phone line operators, in my first hand experience are nothing more than liars and game players. To me this business is now nothing more than a way to scam people out of their hard earned money. Right now my opinion is that they are thieves, and they have stolen from me as they took money for a service they are now not willing to honor.
