Southwest Engines / SWEngines.com review: Unethical behavior 50

This review was chosen algorithmically as the most valued customer feedback.

I asked if they went under any other company names and they never responded only to find out that they are Engine and Transmission World trying to cover up their horrible name by creating a new name I thought it was strange that they claimed to have been in business for more than 30 years yet there was no reviews online at all or a BBB rating. BUYER BEWARE! Obviously cover their bad track record I thought 5 year / Unlimited warranty was to good to be true, Like they say if it's to good to be true than it most likely it is.

Hi Sue, Im suing usedremanns.com / Engine Shoppers LLC, I've put all the case evidence together to get them on fed and state "false and deceptive advertising" charges and other legal codes fed and CA state codes. The big thing I got on them is they had an ASE logo on the website. they removed it after I said I was going to sue them, But I got the screenshot of it before they removed it. What happened was they sent an engine to a lic auto shop for installation. It was supposed to be steam clean and compression tested. None of that was done and I've got the diagnostics report from the shop. The truck never left the shop with the bad engine. I've picked their warranty apart and am using it against them as well.

I've contacted an Atty to figure out how to present the evidence in the right order and am really interested in getting a class action going as well

I contacted an attorney in Chicago. He said it’s impossible to Sue because they go bankrupt and they open new company with new names. Well I guess that explains the 50 names they have gone by. He told me to tell everyone I. Social media to email them constantly using your name demanding you get paid. I’m bummed out!

I have joined your Facebook group and I too have been ripped off by this company and still fighting for a refund. Chase would not refund my money and I have exhausted all resources with this company. I have been given several different reasons and now they want me to spend more money having the engine removed and ship back to them to determine cause of failure. I refuse to spend any additional money. I will join any suit against SW Engines.

we have to go after the parent co. Engine Shopper LLC and its owners who are held responsible I cant sue them in ca small claims except under another designation which Im figuring out now. Im also filing an FTC complaint every week until they take notice. Your assisting in doing the same would help hopefully for them to take notice. I have them on misrepresentation using the ASE logo. ASE org says the never issued the logo.

This is in their warranty, On usedremanns.com warranty, the page says in part,

"ADMINISTRATOR’S RIGHTS TO TERMINATE BENEFITS":

"In the event of a claim, administrator reserves the right to terminate the benefits of this product warranty upon the discovery of fraud or misrepresentation of a material fact by the purchaser or the purchaser’s representative. Evidence of fraud or misrepresentation is forwarded to the proper state and federal authorities"

By that standard, shouldn't it also be the right of the wronged consumer to request the court terminate any warranty benefits to the seller of this product upon the discovery of fraud or misrepresentation of a material fact by the seller or the seller's representative?

Hi, my name is Randy and I'm looking for others to join in on a class action against the parent co. Engine Shopper LLC is the parent co.

of Remanns Engine and many other entities too long to list here. You don't have to do a thing but give a detailed report of what happened. Dates, order numbers, and amounts are critical. and if you know who you talked to would help but not necessary.

you can email me at randyahood@GM if you're in Calif is a plus.

I've got the case put together which I'll send you if your interested. Thanks, Randy H

Hello Randy,

My name is Peter Ferron and here is the story of my experience dealing with USED REMANNS.

On 07-April-2023, I purchased a used transmission from USED.REMANNS for my 2001 Acura CL Type S under invoice #: 415336. This transmission, which was supposed to be tested and certified serviceable, arrived at my ASE Certified repair facility - The Pit Shop (in Fairfield, CA) on 01-May-2023. The mechanics noticed immediately that the cooling reservoir filter, one of the dual solenoid assemblies and dipstick assembly were all badly damaged (I have photos) and Could NOT possibly be reused. I supplied a new filter and the mechanic installed it prior to installing the USED.REMANNS transmission. Seeing as the filter wasn't purchased by The Pit Shop it wasn't listed on the invoice.

The vehicle repair began the afternoon of 03-May-2023 and the installation of the USED.REMANNS transmission was completed the morning of 05-May-2023. The car immediately had problems going into any gear and after operating temperature was reached, would NOT apply power to the drive wheels. The owner of The Pit Shop notified me immediately and I verified the problem the afternoon of 05-May-2023. I have worked with The Pit Shop in the past and found them to be trustworthy, honest and reliable.

I notified the USED.REMANNS Warranty Department Monday morning, 08-May-2023 that the transmission is defective and I was filing a warranty claim for the advertised replacement transmission and compensation for the upcoming replacement labor fees.

Mary Watson of USED REMANNS Warranty Department told me my warranty was void because the mechanic didn't specifically list the required fluid cooling reservoir filter change. I sent them pictures of the damaged components and attempted to explain the old filter couldn't possibly be reused. I provided them with requested proof of purchase for the new filter. The owner of The Pit Shop did state on the invoice that all damaged components were removed and customer sensors and parts were swapped over. Additionally the cooling reservoir filter wouldn't cause the Immediate malfunction we experienced.

If there is anything I can do to help with your class action law suite, please let me know. These liars and cheats need to pay for their dishonesty and disreputable practices.

Sincerely,

Peter Ferron

They are many names like Remanns, , Qualified Used Transmission and many many more. They have over 521 complaints on Better Business Bureau and I don't understand why this is allowed. I am currently out 1395.00, no engine but I owe this.

Did you have their warranty filled out, they are claiming that's why I don't get a refund. But I have proof the engine was bad from their parts person.

I have the same experiences that most of these complaints have stated.. it was very easy to communicate with them when I was ordering my motor and and making arrangements to pay in full to REMANNS.. I RECEIVED THE MOTOR THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO PICK UP THE CORE.. apparently they didn't know how or where they shipped the location they had a ship the motor to.. threaten me to cancel my warranty which I paid an extra $500 for.. after a dozen phone calls I finally got them to acknowledge where they ship the motor the week before when I told them to come pick up the core... They finally came and got the core a month later.

It was installed by a licensed and legitimate mechanic shop.. and they still couldn't find the shop that was listed on the address that they shipped it to.

I've had nothing but trouble with the motor since it's been installed it is finally died

I cannot get one straight answer.. after numerous calls for the past 2 years in the engine is now dead.

I can't REMANNS.. to return a phone call.. AND WHEN I DO FINALLY GET A CONTACT WITH SOMEONE.. after numerous phone calls and emails for the past 2 years...

I can't get a straight answer on how to prove to them that the motor is dead.. one suggestion was tear the heads off of it and get a carpenter's framing square.. and lay it on the head and take a measurement to see if the head is warped!.. what nonsense! The heads would have to go to a machine shop!

I would be happy to join any class action suit against REMANNS.. AND TESTIFY IN COURT AGAINST THEM!.. HOPEFULLY CRIMINAL CHARGES ARE INVOLVED!

If there is anyone that is dealt with remance do they know a direct number that I can talk to the manager of the company the supervisor of the company the CEO of the company the president of the company..

Anyone but the mules that they have answering phones to ship out poorly remanufactured motors

The first one was rusted all over. In and out.

LOOKING FOR PEOPLE TO JOIN ME IN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST REMANNS AND SW ENGINES!
REMANNS and SW ENGINES ripped me off. I bought an engine and warranty for the engine. It to a long time
for them to provide the engine, much longer than they represented. It took several calls and emails before
they provided the engine . Then the engine they provided was no good. I had paid over $6000 dollars for
the engine and warranty then paid 1800 dollars to have the engine installed. When the engine was installed
and started the shop called and said the engine was a no good engine. It took 6 months of phone calls and
emails to get them to send a replacement engine. I took the truck back to a mechanic the dodge dealer
in our town and they uninstalled the bad engine and installed the 2nd replacement. The Dodge dealer ship
said the second engine was a no good engine. REMANNS, SW ENGINES, and the warranty department no
longer takes my calls nor do they answer my emails. I am looking for people who have had same or similar
experiences with these companies to join me in a class action lawsuit.

I purchased a used 4.3l chevy 6 cyl that was delivered to a lic repair shopp who installed the engine which had a serious miss upon start up. they checked to make sure everything was right then pulled the spark plugs and found the #1 plug was wet with coolant. The vehicle never left the shop and now they re playing the delay game not answering phone calls or questions. demanding photos of heat tabs that requires pulling the engine to access the tabs.

I bought what was supposed to be a1998 jeep 5.9 with 88,000 miles and it was worse than the one in the vehicle that has 250,000 on. The one from SW Engines had a bad head gasket or a cracked head, I removed the sparkplugs and all you could smell was strong bitter sweet smell from burnt, evaporated antifreeze. I filled out the warranty for a refund but I am not going to hold my breath

I ordered an engine from these idiots last Friday, and on Monday I discovered a lot of bad things about this company online so decided to rebuild my existing motor instead. I went to cancel the order by calling their 844 number. First off, the lady who answered the phone had the personality of a useless gnat, and transferred me to someone named "John" to cancel my order. All I got was voicemail, twice. I left two messages, and never did receive a call back, so I decided to send an email stating my desire to cancel the order. I ended up sending 4 emails by the time it was said and done, and never got a reply. By the end of the day Tuesday I did receive an email, but it was an order confirmation email! I also want to note that each email I received came from totally different email domains. They use the following emails: shipping@autopartsemail.biz, parts@autopartsemail.biz, parts@used.remanns.com, and also no-reply-order-status@swengines.com. So the fact remains that this is a front for an already crappy company, as the first person that started this posting stated. So above and beyond the fact they don't return their emails and or calls in a timely fashion, even when you cancel the order before any order confirmations or shipping confirmations are sent, they still insist on scamming you for a 25% cancelation fee. THESE IDIOTS ARE A CON! STAY AS FAR AWAY AS YOU CAN! What this stupid, worthless company doesn't realize is they messed with someone that has unlimited funding to make sure they go down fast. I have attorneys already working on it.

I looked at a few different company's websites, among them, "powertrain products inc., gearhead engines, and lastly, remanns engines. Based on their ad, I decided to call remanns, and was told, the price, was the best price I could get, and when I asked them if they belonged to the BBB, the guy wanted to get rid of me fast, no explanation offered to defend the company's decision to not belong to the BBB, no offer to answer any other questions, I may have, no testimonial of the quality of their products, the integrity of the company, the excellence of their customer service. He just said.."If you think you want to order, call us back, I have eight other callers waiting..goodbye" I waited a few seconds to see if he would actually hang up on me, I didn't hear anything that sounded like a hang-up, so I said "goodbye".. got no response, and then hung up myself. So not sure if he hung up on me or not, but when he didn't respond, to my goodbye, I assumed he had. After that experience, I started to do more internet research, which brought me to this website. Internet dealings are scary, and I sure wish I could buy a remanufactured engine on Amazon, they have always stood behind everything I bought on their site, the way they're growing, maybe people will be able to buy a complete engine someday soon. not sure what to do now, dealing with a company that you can't walk in the front door of, and deal with face to face, is starting to feel like less of an option.

I put in my information for a reman engine and called 3 days later to order engine and gave them my quote # and the person who answered didn't seem to know anything. He then tells me the engine was another 600 than the quote THEY sent me. I was told to call back and ask for Joel, which I did, and I got the run around and the guy was just plain rude. Without actually using these words, he told me to take a hike. Reading all of the other problems, I'm glad I didn't buy anything.

I read the reviews and thought this would be a good company to deal with. But they sent the wrong parts for my engine and now the garage has ordered parts from someone else. I tried calling to speak with someone, they keep directing my calls to the warranty department. No one answers the calls, nor do they return my call. This place isn't helpful

I recently purchased a Remanns engine. Although their website says they have a 5 year warranty, this is a bait and switch - the invoice they send out is for only 3 years. Also, I purchased the add-on package, and they shipped timing solenoids - one was defective. Although they sent the equipment, they would not stand behind their warranty, because they said 'we should not have sent those'. FYI, they actually don't do the repair, they are only a marketing company. LQK does the mechanics.

The "FTC ACT" Federal law says an add must be truthful. They sent me a quote for a complete engine ~58K miles and sent an abysmal pile of junk with no doubt likely over 160, 000 miles... I paid $2400.00 for basically a core. I cant believe the pile of junk they shipped me under the pretense of 58 thousand mile engine claiming they ship "premium used engines", disgraceful. Use your legal resources... BBB, Federal Trade Commission, FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center. They know how to abuse the system. Thankfully I paid with a credit card and payment was stopped. The engine core they sent me...Nothing But Nothing reflects an engine with 58K miles, they need to come get their junk engine off my property.

This complaints are true and valid from personal experience. I bought one of there remanufacture do long block engine, had it installed by a Hyundai mainline engine mechanic. This engine barely make it out for a short test drive by the mechanic before the oil pressure light came on, quickly returned to the shop and the engine was making noise. I believe Remanns is only an Internet business who peddles engines from ATK and their parent company is LKQ. THe cost to install this bad engine was 17 hrs for a total do $1, 700.00 and they will only reimburse at half that amount ($50/hr). And now with a 2nd engine to be installed it will be another $1, 700.00, that's a total $2, 550. So much for there reliable world class product! And here the big part, their customer service department hangs up on you or transfers you befor you can explain anything to them, plus their website for support tickets or warrantee claims DOES NOT WORK!
If you've bought from they and not had problems - good for you, but if you have problem you will be absolutely frustrated to the very end due to lact of Customer Service, Professionalism, and a website that only works to take your order and money. If you've read negative reviews about Remanns.com, ATK and LKQ you'll see it here again BUYER BEWARE.

338 Complaints on the BBB as of 3-6-17 I think their in a butler building at a junk yard and using false internet advertising to create a store front . They also have a professional looking facebook page. I bought an engine advertised with ~58K approximately 58 thousand miles complete and received an abysmal core that had not a part one that reflected an engine with 58 thousand miles. What they sent me hadn't seen 58K for at least a 100, 000 miles. The sensors were missing or damaged, both valve covers were broken, the driver side timing chain has a half inch of lash. Under the "FTC ACT" Federal law says the ad must be truthful. These people are con artists and know how to abuse the system. For my purchase my card company stopped payment. I'll also file a complaint with the FBI internet crime complaint center and the Federal Trade Commission. They show locations in Tulsa Ok. Souix Falls S.D. and ship out of SW engines 2100A E College Ave Cudahy WI 53100 Personally...I think their crooks. True... did me the same way on the phone. Crooks !

how is this for supporting data. I called and ordered a 350 for my 85 c10 Chevy truck. I put incorrect vin . they called me for correction, and informed me my truck had a305. The engine in the truck now is a 350, so i told the not to ship the 305. They did anyway. I called 5 times only to be sent to voicemail. Finally lkq, who accually shipped the engine, straightened out the issue and has shipped me a 350. I wonder what problems await when I return the core. Note: same engine from lkq $120.00 cheaper.

A review like this is useless without supporting data. I could not find a correlation between Remanns and Engine and Transmission world on the internet. Their websites, warranty information, and telephone numbers are completely different. Also, there are more than two Engine and Transmission World businesses.
One shouldn't take this complaint at face value anymore than one should take the company's advertisement. If this complaint is valid, then it should contain supporting data so that other customers can make an informed decision.

Sold me an engine under the pretense of ~58K and basically sent a core for $2400.00 I'm 60 years old, I've hands on mechanical experience for the last 45 years along with a well above average mechanical aptitude. I've never seen anything like they just shipped me. Purely Unbelievable ! "FTC ACT" Federal Law Says the ad must be truthful.
