Reliance gobbled up my deposit
Complaint Rating: 0 % with 0 votes
Reliance telecom is a cheat, a thief.

When I took a new postpaid connection (no : 9342411737) the Reliance charged about Rs 1500 more than the actual bill of the calls that had made. When I contacted the customer service, they said that the extra amount is charged as a advance deposite. It will be refunded when I terminate the connection.

My mobile went out of order and I stopped using that mobile. So I gave a request to terminate the connection on 14 Jul 07.I cleared all my dues. When I asked the reliance outlet about the advance deposit, they said that there is no advance deposit. They don't collect the advance deposit for the mobile, they collect the advance deposit only for the landline. I asked him to check the database about the amount i had paid on my first bill. He said they dont have that information. That guy asked me bring the first bill (Which i paid about 18 months back, I dont have that) . He asked me to contact the customer service (*333) . They may be able to help. The customer service says that the outlet will help you and they cant do anything and the outlet says that the customer service will help you and they cant do anything. It a nice ping pong game they they are playing since three months and they haven't terminated the connection. Every month they are charging 400 Rs and asking me to pay this new amount.

They dont want to refund my advance deposit on the other hand they weant me to pay the Rs 850 for the connection which they should have terminated.

Thiefs, cheat... Their company will go down the drains.

I totally Agrree with you. Vustomer care in general, for any company, is bad.

But for reliance, it is teh worst. I don't know what is their criteria of getting these cheats into their CHEAT company - I guess they go to some jail/ chor bazaar to select candidates for customer care.

Well, this was all because i also have a lot of anger for Reliance.

Did you talk to some senior officers? than just customer care people, and web world people from where you bought the mobile?

Why don't you go to the RIM Head office in your city?

Ask them they MUST be having the data in their dataabase...

I completely agree, I have the same problem!

I had a landline on which I wanted STD & ISD connection for which I paid the necessary deposit (was Rs.3000 then). The ISD was never started - the reason given was that we were not creditworthy! Nobody carried out any inspection to arrive at this conclusion - this, despite our having submitted all documents, including financial ones that proves our capability to pay phone bills, for crying out loud!

Since Reliance webworld personnel were extremely rude / uncooperative and otherwise indifferent to our requests, we decided to surrender the connection. Subsequently, Reliance sent us a bill for a period beyond termination of the connection and which they could not sufficiently explain. We were prepared to bear this as well, in our interest to disengage with them and end this sordid experience. We requested them to adjust this bill of approx Rs.1200 against our deposit amount of Rs.3000 lying with them. Their HO in Mumbai (Lower Parel) agreed to do this & send us the balance amount within 45 days. This was 3 yrs back, we have not heard from them again - except a few calls 6 months later to point out that we had not settled the last month's bill and that the deposit will not be released unless we paid up!

This was definitely adding insult to injury! I have not experienced another organization so callous about customer care. I have worked on 3 continents in multi-cultural & multi-national environments in very different industries, where the only common denominator was customer care. As such I cannot understand an organization like Reliance, whose only purpose of existence seems to be to cheat customers and corrupt the entire system / industry / country.

Wish I had the time to get after them! I think such companies thrive on the reality that people do not have time to go after a few thousand rupees. Since their customer base is very large, they can repeatedly cheat existing customers, newer 'bakras' will keep popping in to their webworld not knowing that their business policy is based on deceit - after all, that is how this organization came up.

I thought the next best thing is to spread the message so that people are careful when dealing with them. Even if 10 people read this & become wiser, I will consider my time spent in composing this well spent.

Beware of Reliance!
