Refused to acknowledge my warranty

My mother purchased a custom made Hewlett - Packard computer and shipped it out to me. When she bought it they told her the warranty was good for one year and would cover any damage caused to the computer. I'm back now and I still have 2 months left on my warranty before it expires. I am constantly on my computer typing papers and using the internet. I dropped a mug on my computer breaking the hard drive. I called Hewlett Packard twice to get my warranty to cover my computer cost and to get it fixed. Both times, the agents I spoke to, told me I did not have a warranty on my computer though I had documentation stating I did. Since Hewlett Packard refused to honor the warranty I was forced to take my computer into Best Buy to get it fixed. I had no where else to turn and I need the computer for my job and school. My mom had also called and got a case worker assigned to figure this out. She denied our claim that HP compensate me for the work done on the computer because the computer got taken in to a third party for repairs, despite the fact that Hewlett Packard refused to acknowledge my warranty. A company like this can put you back is difficult to understand.
