Quicken Loans misleading and rude

My name is Eric Boyer and I would like to share my experiences with Quicken Loans. I applied for a VA refinance earlier this year. I had my current loan through Wells Fargo, but wanted to give Quicken a chance since they sent many correspondences in the mail. I would like to say, my refinance experience was anything but pleasant, terrible and costly. When I first started, they told me about the process and what could be expected, so I thought just a refinance, I’m not selling the property. How hard could that be? Boy was I wrong. It was a total nightmare. The documentation needed was unlike I’ve ever experienced and I’ve owned four homes, two of which were refinanced. I faxed so much paperwork it wasn’t funny. They kept calling asking for more and sometimes I had to resend the same documents. The terms of my loan was a 20 year fixed rate at 3.8% with and est. closing costs of $67.00 at first. That sounded good to me. Well, after my credit report was checked, supposedly my debit to income ratio was not good, so that changed everything. Also, my appraisal came back very low. I questioned the company that conducted this because I have checked other homes in my area and what they appraised for and mine was not even close. Two months later after numerous inspections, i.e. ac/heating, termite and fireplace, and more paperwork, my numbers changed. Now, I had to bring close to $4, 000.00 to closing and I could not roll over any costs associated into the loan. Add to that, I’m out $400.00 to Quicken for processing the loan and their costs out of pocket for the inspections. I dealt with Doug XXXXX and Melissa XXXXX who could take lessons on providing the best customer service for clients. I became so frustrated that I checked with my current lender to see if they could match or do better and they stepped up to the plate. They offered me a 20 year fixed rate at 3.50% and $500.00 due at closing that was rolled into the cost of the loan. They only required 5 documents, the customer service was excellent and they were quick and thorough, (closed in 30 days). A very pleasurable experience and I wish I had checked prior to going with Quicken. What confused me was my current lender used the same credit report, same income to debt ratio and other factors to give me the best deal possible. Also, my monthly payment is $50.00 less than what Quicken quoted. When I spoke to Doug to see if they could match Wells Fargo, they blew me off and didn’t even attempt to match or try to keep my business. I wish I would have done my homework before I dealt with Quicken, so please check before you give Quicken one cent. Shop around before you commit to any loan process. This was an expensive lesson but one well learned.

Janie,
I am in total agreement with your post. I don't know how they received that JD Powers rating of number 1? I hope sites like this will alert consumers about their business practices before they part with their money and time.

I agree with you, the process is outrageous, expensive a sham. I wish you the best and hope things work out for you.

I live in Oklahoma and Quicken Loans does truly amaze me, JD Powers #1, really? I refinanced my home a year ago and for their lower interest and a reduced payment. That was all a bunch of lies...payment even more. This bunch of "professionals" are liars and cheats they should be put out of business. Quicken loans just fleeces escrow money out of people. They DO NOT help anyone with any with anything. I am truly sorry I ever refinanced with this company and I thought Bank of America was bad...I now find out I should have stayed with them. I anyone out there really needs to refinance...DO Not use Quicken Loans...they are the most dis-honest mortgage company there is.

Fully agree with this frustration. In forty years, we have financed and refinanced numerous properties without this much red tape and patronizing behavior from a company. We've been jumping through hoops for almost one month and the end is not in sight. I cannot believe their latest email asked for our 2012 tax documents. One would think this would be required right out of the gate! The QL representative opened up with all sorts of wonderful compliments and promises. Beware. Once the "team" gets hold of your time, you will spend hours rifling through your files looking for documents that they vaguely name...not the legal terms which would help. Yesterday I drove 70 miles round trip to our county courthouse for a record. Come on Quicken Loans! Get your act and your team educated and do your reviews of our important documents in a logical sequence. If there's one more day of this !@#$ we will need to sell our precious investments to buy into a senior long term care community where my 100% disabled veteran husband needs help and I may end up in assisted living due simply to stress.

Quicken Loans stole $400.00 from me

quicken loans told me that they needed $400.00 for appraiseall fee.they never asked if i had any safety issues with my home.they did ask if i had peeling paint on my house, and other issues, but never asked if i had second story flat roof with a door leading to it.the door has dead bolt keyed inside and outside.which my insurance told me to do.well the appraiser told quicken loans i had patio without a handrail i told quicken loans that it's not a patio and told them its used only for fire escape in which i have ladder up there all the time.the cost for hand rail about $2, 000 and once you start disrupting and walking on a flat you pretty much have to replace the whole thing.cost $2, .000. $4, 000 total.for handrail and roof.iwas disqualfied and was ripped-off $400.

Quicken also asked me for $400 for Good Faith depositl then they denied my loan but they gave me back $299.14. Here is an email replied by Steve Rerouk:
Tom,

The Good Faith deposit is returned minus the cost of the credit report and any appraisal fees.

An amount of $299.14 was refunded on 3/14/16.

They charged me for credit report and appraisal fees which they never appraisail on the house before they denied my loan. They check my credit report before they pre-approve my loan. I should never ever go back to Quicken Loan again. You never knew what they're up to.

That is a very specific and unusual addition to your home. $400 is the charge for the appraisal. From the sounds of it, you actually had an appraisal done. You cannot expect the appraiser to work for free - that money was given to them for their services. It would be the same as paying $200 for an inspection. If the inspection came back bad and you decided not to purchase the home, would you expect the inspector to have worked for free? No. It is the same concept.

Quicken Loans I know it is a scam

Quicken Loans Refinancing qualified me for a loan and had me pay a $400 appraisal. Everything was good with equity and credit amounts. They turned down my loan because they didn't think I lived at the house, and I do. I am a real estate agent and have seen the scams like that…

Quicken Loans rude

Extremely rude.

I was working on a refi w/ a local broker, and decided to contact Quicken Loans to compare. I filled out the online form. Within 12 hours they called me 4 times and sent several emails. When I called them back and explained I'm close to doing a deal w/ a broker and want to see what they can offer, the representative said "I don't want to waste my time or your time." (yes, his time was first) He asked for all the details on the deal I had on the table. It told him I would give him the loan amount and the term, but he would have to give me a rate and approximate closing costs. He refused, saying it was a waste. I asked him why was it a waste of his time. He then just hung up. I called him back, he picked up and immediately hung up again.

I'm sure they will call back and I will ask to be removed from their call list.

Sorry left an unfinished sentence: that I have worked at my job for 9 years doesn't carry any weight? No response to that.

We have been working with Quicken Loans trying to do a home refi. for nearly 3 months, a very slow process, constantly having to resubmit information, like work history, current employment, banking information, pay stubs, W-2's, every document having to be submitted 2 or 3 times. I paid $400.00 to get this started, paid for the appraisal $150.00, paid for pest inspection $80.00, paid for water inspection. During this 3 months it has been repeated to them that my husband is an OTR truck driver (they have copies of his pay stubs & his length of employment. So just when you think they can't ask for more infomation and everything seems to be in order, I get a phone call telling me that because my husband hasn't been at his current job for 2 years and because they consider his pay as being commission they won't be able to approve the loan. I then ask why they didn't tell me this from the start, I'm told that they were under the impression he was paid hourly, I said that was a pretty feeble excuse & there are thousands of truck drivers on the road are you trying to say that none of them have tried to finance a home loan with Quicken? I asked why after all the papers had been sent/faxed to them numerous times it takes 3 months to come to the conclusion they can't approve a loan. I did ask him if the fact that we've lived in this house for over 10 years have always made the payments (they have a letter from the bank proving that), that I have worked at my job for 9 years He told me I should try another loan company they might have different policies. So now I'm out the $400.00 +$250.00 for all the inspections, not to mention the frustration. I feel like they are all friendly and positive when you start the process, then you get a long drawn out run around only to be turned down. Very disappointed won't recommend them to anyone.

Quicken Loans red tape

Advertised as a "quick and simple" process, my loan with Quicken has been long, confusing, frustrating, and so far unsuccessful. Every time I supply requested information, they want more documentation---much of which is difficult or impossible to obtain. Your "loan counselor" cannot make any commonsense decisions, and you are constantly at the mercy of nameless underwriters or "policy". When you do manage to supply the information, it is never enough. I originated the loan with Quicken, but the original loan was much less of a problem. I run a business with fifty employees, and if I ran it the way Quicken does, I would be bankrupt.

I so agree
I have perfect credit and after two months of draggin things out, the rates have gone up so using another company is mute. Also, they keep have one more thing, one more thing for me to do.
Also please note they will use NOT local anything so the fees you are paying are not to people near you or people who you can contact.
Terrible experience, makes your blood pressure rise. Wish JD POWERS woudl contact me when they hand their awards out

Quicken Loans lapse of time, credit inquiries

I called Quicken in October. I was told that this was one of the easiest loan applications that he had done. I am refinancing and have used Quicken in the past. Well, things went downhill from here.
First it took them a month to realize that I needed an appraisal. I scheduled and he could not come out until the middle of December. Cool...done.
Nope! I had to cancel a few credit cards. Some I don't even have anymore. It is hard to cancel something you don't have the information for.
So, here I am, cancelled credit cards...no loan. Yesterday I called another company. I gave him some information. He did a credit check...Quicken has run a credit check 18 times since October! 18 TIMES!

If anyone knows how to stop this madness, please let me know! I am so tired of all the B.S.
I ran my lemonade stand better than this when I was 8, Come on man!

Quicken Loans misleading

I strongly feel mislead by Quicken Loans regarding the refinance of my home using a VA program. I am a Disabled Veteran and was online checking mortgage rates after several reports of "record low rates" by the media. While on the QL site a Mortgage Consultant offered an online chat to discuss. I explained I was checking to see what the rates were for that day. The Mortgage Consultant stated that he needed some personal info to see which programs I was eligible for. I was reluctant but provided the requested info. I explained I was interested in using the VA refi program. The QL Mortgage Consultant provided rate and term options as well as promised I would have no out of pocket or rolled in costs except the VA funding fee...I explained I was a Disabled Veteran and was told the VA would waive the funding fee. I again asked if there were ANY costs or fees because I am on disability with little instant cash available and again was told by the Quicken Loan Mortgage Consultant there were none including the fine print. He then proceeded to tell me there is actually one fee of a $400 deposit which would be refunded at closing. I questioned again about any other costs or fees and was told that was it and it covered the appraisal. Fast forward to a couple days after the appraisal when I was contacted by a Quicken Loans Loan Processor who explained that before moving forward I needed to hire a professional for a pest inspection and another for a well test. I asked if they had someone and was told I needed to source one on my own and pay for it which would be at my cost and not reimbursed. I explained I was told the $400 was the only out of pocket expense as explained by the QL consultant. The processor told me that was incorrect and they could not move forward until this is done. This sounds like an additional cost to me...
The processor said she would have the originating Mortgage Consultant contact me which he did. When I reminded him of my repeated questions regarding ANY additional costs or fees he told me that that was a true statement however this was a VA requirement not a Quicken Loan requirement. I explained that I trusted his statement of no additional or hidden fees/costs since he is the professional and would expect this would have been disclosed even if this is a VA requirement Quicken Loans is promoting and processing VA loans. I pointed out that he did in fact mention the VA funding fee (which is n/a) and was told there must have been some miscommunication. I explained how reluctant I was to pay the $400 deposit and had I known I would be required to cover additional costs I would never have moved forward to begin with. I said I was disappointed and would like to stop the process as well as requested my $400 deposit back since the process stopped well short of closing even though I had the appraisal. I argued that I was mislead after being repeatedly told there were no hidden/additional costs or fees. At that point I was told the process would be stopped however I forfeited my deposit. He offered to send a copy of my appraisal and the current balance of $6 which I declined as I felt it was insulting as well as this is not an acceptable resolution.
I then went to another company to refinance and received better rates and truly no additional/hidden fees or costs. I experienced a much more knowledgeable and streamlined process.
I would encourage everyone to be a good consumer, shop around, compare apples to apples be skeptical if you are moving forward with Quicken Loans. I would not recommend them to my friends...

What company did you end up going with? We too were trying to do a refi on our home going VA. We've also lost the $400.00 + the appraisal fee, pest inspection fee and water/well test fee, then to be told after 3 months that we wouldn't be approved because my husband is an OTR driver and his wages are considered commission and he hasn't been at with his employer for 2 years. I will tell everyone I know Don't use to use Quicken.

Quicken Loans is no longer owned by Quicken software. They use boiler room tactics, hard sell and push hard for the 500 dollar Good faith down payment. they front load loans with extreme closing cost, which are rolled into the total financed, also they average 2 or 3 home inspections and normally devalue the home greatly. This allows PMI insurance to be required, of course they either own the insurance company, or receive a kickback. My advice stay far from them as They are gutter rats. As soon as you pay them the good faith 500 dollars expect problems and delays and increased costs. If turned down few people promised their initial deposit will ever se it again. Not sure why they are not under investigation.

Quicken Loans employee mistreatment

Anyone who is thinking about working for Quicken loans, think again. They hire hundreds of people and then let that many go. They work you 80 and 90 hours a week for a small scale wage. If you don't come in on the weekends or work the long hours, you are threatened to be fired. Company management is a joke. Managers yell, scream and cuss at you. If you miss calling someone back within 24 hours, you get fired. Anyone who says this is the company to work for has not talked to the employees who are fired in droves. Perhaps before someone says this is a top company to work for should look at the numbers of hires and fires and go out and talk to the people who are let go. Most people are treated like indentured servants and this company is ripe for a class action suit by all former employees.

Quicken Loans loan

We contacted Quicken Loans to get a lower mortgage rate with VA. They called us 3-5 times a day for 2 months. Wanting this info, that info. In the meantime, we were driving back and forth to another state taking care of my mom who was in a nursing home recovering from a broken back. They promised us a check that would cover our debts and make some changes in our home to get my mom moved in with us and in the meantime, we moved her to a nursing home closer to us. We have been stressed to the hilt with family issues and trying to do everything Quicken Loans wanted. Not to mention all the other things we have had to deal with emotionally with family. Our only sign of peace was getting this loan. Our closing date was next week and they came up with another thing we had to do, a termite check, which we had to take out a loan to pay for and be able to stay afloat till the signing and Quicken Loans still assured us our check would be there. While this was being done, one of our dogs bit the terminix man and I had to go 25 miles to get his shot record and I just finally collapsed from stress. I have been on stroke watch for 2 months and my husband has been so stressed from the hardships we have been under. Yesterday we get a phone call that the appraiser appraised our home 35, 000.00 LESS than what it was appraised for last year and it was the VA's fault. So we called the VA who told us they never received anything regarding a loan and we called the appraiser(who loved our home by the way) and he told us he DID NOT compare our home to others in our area and rated our home based on a one bdrm cabin that sold for 50, 000.00.Well if a one bedrm cabin was worth 50, 000.00 our home was certaintly worth more since it is on the lake! We had it up for a quick sale 2 years ago and listed it nearly 40, 000 less than it's value so we could move but took it off the market last year when my mom got bad. The appraiser took our listing price and deducted 5, 000 from that! Appraising our home 45, 000 LESS than it was appraised for last year! The home next door to us was built in 1972, same as ours, by the same man and is appraised for 120, 000 as is and has never been renovated..Our home is 1500 sq ft, made of native stone, repainted, hidden by trees, has a fenced in lot 153 sq ft, we have a gazebo, a garage, 2 car carport, storage building and the entire house has been renovated with american oak, we have a deck and a storm shelter. The lake is 100 yards through the woods from our backyard. There are 7 homes on our road and every one of them are valued over 100, 000 and down the road is a 1970 mobile home that sold for 90, 000.00. That man appraised our home for 85, 000 which was a total insult and the homes he submitted "comparison" to, were homes not even in our area! Yes, we called him and he stammered and stuttered and when we told him VA never heard of him, he quickly had to hang up. I then looked up on the internet at all the complaints made on Quicken Loans and when they called back, my stress went over the top and I yelled at him and told him about the scams I read. I told him his appraiser was a liar who just gets paid by Quicken Loans and I told him that the appraisal was a lie and Quicken Loans lied to us for 2 months saying our home was appraised for 98, 000.00 and when the signing was approaching, they decided to lower the price by 13, 000.00 so that on paper it would look like 98 and someone was gonna pocket 13, 000.00! I was furious and was screaming at him about what they have done to us emotionally and financially and we were now in more debt than before because of all the stuff we had to do to get approved. After that, he calls back and says our loan was denied because our home was not appraised for enough to get a loan. This was AFTER 2 months of telling us the house was appraised for 98, 000.00. So here we are; my husband who is a disabled Viet Nam vet, me with bad health, us going back and forth to care for my mom who thinks she is going to get to move in with us after we did more renovations with the money we were promised; put in even more debt and having all our hopes of getting bills paid off and being able to relax for once, All our hopes of being able to breathe and pay off some bills and having a lower mortgage have been pulled out from under us and we are completely in a daze and somewhat of shock, hurt, and anger, not to mention, we haven't told my mom yet that she can't move in with us after she has had hopes of it for 2 months. As your commercial says: "THANK YOU QUICKEN LOANS"...

I have the same situation. Quicken Loans ripoff $500 on my credit card. Every thing was communicated on the phone and Internet. They said I qualified and approved for refinance. I sent them my income tax return, work income statement, and all my bank financial information. My credit score are excellent, and my current mortgage payment had never been late. My home equity over 40% of the loan. They finally denied my loan and refuse to refund my money. I was very piss off. I want to file a law suit and going to report to police.

Quicken Loans Refi mortage

Three yrs ago refi with Quicken, decided to refs again to lower rate with short term.
I was only shopping for rates and closing fees when I called Quiicken.
The aggressive behavior of the first sales person turned me off and I decided that
I would call again at a later time for a more professional individual. When I call back I did get a fairly professanl gentleman but learned fast that he was overly agressive.
All I asked of him is to provide with the best product they had to offer. With that
I decided that I would continue to search for another lender. I went to my local bank and spoke face to face with the lender whom by the way is our current mortgage holder.
I allowed him to run my credit report to my Shock and Anger it showed that quicken took it upon themselves to run my credit report not just once but 6x. The lender said that if I didn't have such Excellent credit that could of hurt my qualification for a refi. The next day I Qucken loans and spoke to a "Customer care representative", This guy was as arrogant and ignorant as to my objection to them running a report Without my written consent. He claimed that " I spoke on the phone with the loan officer long enough which led them to believe that I wanted to run a report" What a outright LIE!
If I allowed it why wild I be calling back upset! The manage r said that he was not removing the inquires from my report. I am now filing with the Better Busniness Bureau and will proceed to prosecute under the RESPA laws and 'Fair Credit Reporting Act' which are there to protect consumers from such awful loan companies like Quicken Loans. They should be out out of business.

Quicken Loans customer service doubletalk

Caveat emptor

I refinanced my mortgage with Quicken less than a year ago (Summer 2012) and I’ve had some questions about what I was told then compared to what I’m being told now. In addition I’m getting contradictory information from them – from one day to the next.

I started with my originating loan officer and named names in terms of what I had been told and by whom. It quickly got bumped to Client Relations. My questions and situation were too complex for the first person I spoke to so they politely bumped it to a Senior Client Relations person by the name of Stacy McGrath. She told me the loan was so old (six months) that Quicken couldn’t research the issue. And then proceeded to talk to me like I was a young child, a small animal, or an idiot. She was a script reading semi-borderline antisocial personality who wouldn’t engage me on any of the issues. Stacy McGrath did more harm than good.

I went ballistic and was bumped to the “Executive Office” and assigned to a guy by the name of Jeff Szerdi. He was towed the company line – and between him and another Mortgage Banker who got caught in the middle of this - I’ve been given unsettling and bare faced contradictory information ( in writing).

I pointed this out to Jeff Szerdi, asked some pointed questions and asked to be put in touch with a manager or a director. (I think I pissed him off when I told him I wanted to speak to an adult.) I got an email back from the guy apologizing for “confusing and frustrating” me but telling me he wouldn’t escalate this. He’s refusing.

He told me that I had already reached the “Executive Office” – that he had clearly explained Quickens position and my options – and that was pretty much the end of it.
I don’t think so. I’m going to contact the California Board of Corporations (The regulator in my state) and the Michigan Attorney General’s office.

But I still want to talk to an adult at Quicken. If anyone knows who the head of Client Relations is- or who is in charge of the “Executive Office” - or where I can find an employee phone directory (or org chart) – please email me a dklimt (at) yahoo.com

Quicken Loans fraud / poor customer service

On my first conversation with Quicken Loans I initially told them "no" to the refinance when I was given the figues of what it would cost becaue I had just refinanced a year prior and did not wish to spend that much money. They came down in my estimate and I agreed to proceed with refinance. I was told my credit card would NOT be charged unless I backed out of the loan. I found out later my card was charged immediately. While I worked with them I would receive many phone calls by numerous people asking for more information, often information they had already received. During one phone call from Quicken I was told charges would be $1400. above their original estimate. I said that was not ok. Next day I was called and told they would pay half of the $1400. All pricing went up. Charges were well above what I had said I was willing to pay in first phone consultation. No one would answer questions, but rather tell me someone else was handling that and that person would have to contact me. Quicken Loans agents would not answer most of my emails. My home appraisal seemed suspiciously low. Example of 'odd' appraisal was listing "microwave" on appraisal as a feature I have. My microwave is sitting on the counter, it is not connected to my home. I sent a certified letter stating I was not going to proceed with the loan. After that I kept receiving numerous phone calls saying they needed me to contact them to finish refinance quickly. I emailed the certified letter. I reported Quicken to BBB and the Attorney General. Quicken then sent me a message that they were dropping me, that I did not qualify. Quicken had lowered their estimate until I agreed to refinance. Then they charged my card when they said they would not.

Quicken Loans support of rush limbaugh

I understand that Quicken Loans has refused to withdraw its advertising from Rush Limbaugh after his despicable and hateful attack on Susan Flack, the woman who was denied a hearing before a congressional committee, to express he views on women's reproductive health. I just read that Quicken feels Limbaugh has a right to call this woman a "slut" and a "prostitute" on the air, and to tell her that she must make a sex video for his viewing pleasure. If Quicken Loans supports this type of vile, obscene discourse on the airwaves, it's definitely not the kind of company I want to deal with. I didn't know how else to express my opinion about this, so I'm submitting this complaint.

AS A WOMAN... the outcry of Mr Limbaugh makes me 'roll my eyes!' Where was the outcry on Mr. Bill Maher for calling a mother, grandmother and government official, Gov Sarah Palin, a ###? Where was the outcry for calling Laura Ingraham a SLUT? How selective is your outrage! Was it wrong... YES. At least Mr. Limbaugh had the decency to give Ms Fluke a sincere apology. Something Sarah Palin has yet to get from Mr. Maher's dispicable language. Mr. Limbaugh at least acknowledges he used WRONG WORDS to describe the 'absurdity' of what Ms Fluke's expects from a Jesuit college. She could have went to school somewhere else, if she couldn't afford her own 'birth control.' Once again, if you're going to 'appear' so outraged and out of sorts, at least be consistent. Otherwise, it only shows people like myself your very apparent hypocrisy. As far as advertising on his show, RUSH has very loyal listeners. WE see this for the political move that it is. While it is a shame that a handful of companies have decided to only do business w/ HALF of the country...it is their bottom line and their choice. I and many like me, will no longer do business with any companies that drop advertising on his program. We also, can make a statement.

As a real estate investor, I have often considered using Quicken Loans as a "go to" company for my financing needs. As a professional Hispanic woman, I was shocked to discover that they had regularly advertised on the Ruch Limbaugh show. Not only did they implicitly endorse his hate speech by sponsoring his "show" through advertising, but they even defended their role after Limbaugh's latest vulgar diatribe against a female law student. Perhaps they feel that women and minorities are not their "market" and thus they have something to gain by supporting bigots and fools. I will never use their service again. It is shameful that in 2012 in America I would feel compelled to write this note.

Quicken Loans not refund my money for loan not approved

I was told never charge any fee if I did not approve or denied the loan. That was a liar. I paid up front $500 from my credit card to open the loan application. Every thing was communicated on the phone and Internet. They said I qualified and approved for refinance. I sent them my income tax return, work income statement, and all my bank financial information. My credit score are excellent, and my current mortgage payment had never been late. My home equity over 40% of the loan. They finally denied my loan and ripoff $500 on my credit card. I was very piss off. I want to file a law suit and going to report to police.

Quicken Loans predatory lending

Like all of the other unfortunate people on this site, I too was taken advantage of by Quicken Loans. My story is a little different however. My appraisal came back with more than enough value for my loan. Part of the appraisal was to get one of my outbuildings treated for termites ($700.00). Before spending that additional money I verified with the Quicken Loan Specialist both by phone and in writing that everything was good with my loan and I was assured it was. I had the treatment done, and get this, the very next day I was told my loan was denied because the Quicken Underwriter did not agree with the Appraisers assessment of my home. The Appraiser by the way was not one I picked. Quicken worked with the VA and the VA assigned the appraiser; and they tend to be a lot stricter than most. So in the end, Quicken admitted I was misled however refused to refund any part of what I spent (Earnest Deposit or Treatment totaling over $1, 100.00). I went to another local lender and got my loan with no problems. If you are fortunate enough to be reading this message before you work with Quicken. Don’t just walk, run the other direction of Quicken Loans.

Refinanced with Quicken Loans in 2007. They split my loan into two and charged over ten percent interest on the second loan. This loan was sold to Citi Mortgage and I have been paying 10.37% percent interst for the last six years!

Quicken Loans refinancing mortgage

after reading the complaints about wells fargo and quickenloans I guess i'll just stick with wells fargo. I have been paying my mortgage with them for 3 years ona 15yr fixed. Quicken loans needs to rename themselves SlowPoke loans. Its been 3 months now. and a few days before the scheduled closing they tell me they need my wife to sign a document. The problem is, my wife is in Portugal awaiting US approval to immigrate. Problem 2 is I bought the house as a "single man." I was not married 3 years ago. The house is my "separate property." The situation is one i described to QuickenLoans during my first conversation with them 3 months ago. Apparently they were not listening. Now they insist that my wife sign some paper and it must be notarized at the US Embassy in Lisbon. It is my "separate property and if they read the law on the internet it should be clear. but its not. They have had 3 months to tell me this, but wait until a week before the closing. If I had known last week before I booked a flight to Porto I could have booked a flight to Lisbon. This process has caused me to deal with 3 different people at Quicken Loans. All 3 appear to be clueless idiots especially the very rude woman I had to deal with. I think its about time to say Fuggedaboutit. 3.25 % sounds better than the 5.95% I pay but I am planning on paying the house off in 7 years anyway and the mortgage interest is what keeps me filing an itemized tax return. It seems the "mortgage re-finance" industry is a big scam.

Just an FYI for those of who in AZ who feel they were misled by false advertising and/or the high-pressure sales tactics to collect the $500 upfront fee, and other misrepresentations. Make sure you report your incident to the following authorities:

Quicken Loans strong-arm tactics and false advertising

I nearly became a victim of this company, and thought I'd share my experience with others. I recently became interested in refinancing my home mortgage. It's a relatively low amount (less than $50, 000), and after hearing an ad for their no-cost, streamline loan, I called to inquire as to the details. The loan officer was extremely pushy and refused to give me the specifics unless I provided all my personal info. After doing this, he still wasn't specific enough and insisted on getting my credit card # so he could charge me $500 for an appraisal. I'm an experienced home buyer and have also refinanced several times in the past. Needless to say, red flags went off immediately, so I pressed him to put the details in writing. He hedged on doing this, but kept calling me back anyway. When he finally did decide to put it in writing, he only called it "tentative" and did not give me the requested breakdown of closing costs. He knew I was no longer interested, but kept calling me back repeatedly. I never responded to these follow-up calls, but that didn't stop them from pursuing my business.

Some time passed, and then I got a call from a different loan officer stating that new terms were available as there had been a change in the market. When I inquired as to what that change might be, a new person put me through the same drill as the first one, demanding this time $400 down, and even implied that I must have some sort of financial problem not to want to do this. I told him I don't go around giving my hard-earned money to everyone who asks for it. He was extremely arrogant and condescending, not to mention rude. To make a long story short, there were no changes in the market to report to me. They only wanted to badger me further.

My thought was this company must be in real dire straits to push a customer on such a small loan. Bear in mind, they're located in Scottsdale, and one would think they have bigger fish to fry with all those multi-million dollar properties up there. They even tried to convince me that taking $500 up front is procedural with ALL mortgage lenders, which I happen to know for a fact is not the case at all.

Although they offer you a low interest rate, beware of the jacked-up costs and required down payment. Also, don't believe in Better Business Bureau ratings, they're totally worthless!
