PulteGroup flooring upgrades

We purchased a Pulte home in August. We upgraded most of the flooring in the house to engineered hardwood costing over $20, 000 in a house costing over $500, 000. During our walk thru, we were give a bright orange handout indicating they were not responsible for damage such as scratches, dents, etc. We do have dogs so I expected some scratches but nothing like what we have. I contacted Pulte and also talked to the flooring contractor. Pulte said there was nothing they would do. Talking to the flooring contractor, I was told that Pulte specks out the flooring and that it was of such low quality that they do not sell to the public. I feel when spending this kind of money that the quality of the upgrades should be reflected. Other than this issue we are happy with our home but I continue to be anxious as to what quality issues will present themselves.

PulteGroup poor service & customer support

I was contacted on November-02-2015 by the Pulte Site Superintendent Potomac Green Del Webb Community in Ashburn VA. they would require entry into my Condo unit to retrofit the exterior condensate drain pipe with heat trace so that it does not freeze during the winter. As part of this, Pulte needs to enter my unit and remove portions of drywall (vertical wall and ceiling) to access the PVC pipe and install the heat trace and new electrical. Pulte will move and/or cover any furniture/accessories and hang plastic sheeting in the affected area during the process. Pulte will replace the drywall, paint the walls, and put all displaced items back so that you are left with a finished product after the repair. Pulte Site Superintendent told me the work would be completed in 4 days. The work was started on Tuesday November-10th with completion by Friday November 13th. To date the work has not been completed. I have requested an update from the Pulte Site Superintendent on the status of repairs with no response. Currently there are 4 large sections of drywall removed from my ceiling and walls in my bedroom, living room and hallway. With the open walls and ceiling we can't turn on our heat. We need a timely resolution to this situation.

PulteGroup home consruction no insulation!

Even though we paid for it, we have discovered that there is NO insulation in this Ft Myers FL Centex home. We couldn't figure out what made our electrical bill so high (over $200 per month) while neighbors had no such issues. when we had bathrooms, kitchen remodeled we discovered fact that no insulation existed. We also had work done in attic to secure dining room which was falling off house. Also Centex never finished our roof and we were told it was out of warranty, etc etc. Insulation alone will cost $2000-$3000 and we would like compensation.

PulteGroup wont fix stucco falling off. home under warranty

Home is under warranty. Stucco has been falling off for years. Pulte wont do anything. I put up information (freedom of speech) signs right next to their signs. Pulte took them and threw in dumpster. Not their land, not their property. Called police. Police gave signs back but would not press charges. The police (for which I pay taxes for) suggested they get a restraining order against me. Peaceful, lawful protest. Violation of my first amendment rights!

PulteGroup wrong size air conditioner

The motor and compressor went out on my A/C unit after only six years on 19 June 2015. So I called the repair guys (Cool Air Now) and they fixed it. Then on 27 June 2015, the A/C went out again and they couldn't fix it. Then the service manager came out on 28 June 2015 and told me that my a/c unit is too small for this house. The size of my home is 1780 square feet, and anything over 1600 square feet requires a 5 ton unit and Pulte installed a 3.5 ton unit in my home and that is why I have hot spots and it finally burned out my motor and compressor. The repair guy says that the coil needs to be replaced as well in the attic. I also am supposed to have two vents in the master bedroom because of the size of the room and I only have one.

The resolution I would like to have done, is for Pulte to replace my a/c unit and coil and all the duct work required along with the proper installation of another vent in the master bedroom. It is too hot in Las Vegas, Nevada and too expensive to keep repairing the problem. The current temperature right now is 114 degrees, this is unacceptable for these conditions. I would also like to be reimbursed for the cost of repairs and parts to the a/c unit during this time.

Our Pulte townhome in Central Florida was built in 2017, we purchased it in 2018. We have had off and on issues with our AC unit not cooling off the townhome in a timely manner and water leaking from the unit. Another homeowner on this street had to replace their AC unit last week because it froze up and water was everywhere. They were told the units are too small for the townhomes. We were just told today by an AC company that we had come out that our unit is too small for the square footage. Mind you, we've also had garage roof leaks. Pulte takes the cheap way out and cuts corners without thoughts of the ramifications to the homeowners.

PulteGroup home humidifier

So this was a bit shocking. We had an aprilaire humidifier as part of our original home construction (Unfortunately 19 years ago...). Last night I was looking at it because our humidity level in the house was really bad. After investigating, I discovered that first they had installed in backwards. The humidity was being inserted on the return (Before filters and gas furnace). Which is pretty much useless. But even worse, it wasn't even connected to power! I'm also concerned that the air pressure return was basically leaking hot air back into the system reducing the efficiency of our furnace for the last 19 years. So, if pulte installed one for you, check it!

PulteGroup incompetent company and loan consultant

I signed a contract with Pulte Mortgage in July 2014 and January 2015 I was told I did not qualify for a loan. All that time wasted and my life put on hold I could have purchase a home else where. I was told my income status changed which it did, but it took them six months to figure that out! So apparently Pule Mortgage did not know what they were doing. I submitted all paper work that was need at the very beginning of this process. Now I have no home and they are trying to give me a hard time for a refund fee, $400 for the appraisal for a home that will belong to someone else. What a nightmare this is the worst experience I have ever had in 58 yrs. of my life. I hope this bad experience will help someone else and pray no one will go through what I went through. If I could file a law suit against Pulte Mortgage along with others that have a horrible experience I would.

PulteGroup air conditioning line set

I purchased my condo in June of 2013. I started having issue with the heating and air conditioning during the winter months. I had three service companies come out and the last one found several leaks. We opened up the garage wall and found the copper tubing in the line set to have multiple leaks, there are also nails coming through the siding that never hit a stud. I contact Pulte and they stated the issue was not warranted and they could possibly assist if the line set was continuous (it was). They sent out a fourth service company who confirmed multiple leaks and a cost of 1333.00 to run a new line set outside my condo. Pulte claims this is not something they can assist with as their is "no smoking gun" that points specifically to a leak caused at construction. The fact that the leaks are inside the wall, no remodel has been done since the build of the condo, and that their are nails that didn't hit studs, it is obvious to the service companies that this most likely did occur during the construction phase.

Air-conditioner take about 1.5 hours for the air to cool off one degree. The customer service rep. at Piute says that is normal and a lot of people are calling in AZ about this. Piute says this is normal. Told to leave the air-conditioner at the desired temperature and to not used the programmable thermostat. that Piute installed and advertise on how to save energy. In the area around phoenix you need good air-conditioning. When Electricity goes off for any reason takes forever for house to cool down. My house is just under 2, 100.00 square ft. in area and it has only a 3 ton Air-conditioner with a small blower. I also own a older house built in 1976 similar area and the air-conditioner in it takes about 1 hour for 3 degrees to cool off big difference. Waddell, AZ Gerald Fitzgibbons

PulteGroup incorrect window installation

I purchased this Pulte house and about 1 month after the purchase, water ran into the living room from the windows. I had a Pulte warranty worker look at the issue and he said the windows were not installed properly. The header is getting water in it and now the siding has to be taken off, the windows re-taped and the inside of the houe has to be repaired. As you can see from the photo, the header is wet in between the 2 sets of windows.

PulteGroup poor service & public relations

We are near 70 years old and live in Oregon. On September 10th, my wife and I signed a contract to have a house built in Britton Falls, Indiana to be close to family. The house was to be started at the end of December. Included with the contract were 10 requests for what Pulte calls "Non Standard Options or NSO's", none were very complex and two of them were even suggested by our sales representative. It is Pulte's procedure for a customer to sign a contract and then get approvals and prices for these options. Even though this is not a good practice, we signed the contract. We were also "encouraged" to use Pulte mortgage to avoid huge penalties for not closing when Pulte demanded.

Almost three months after signing the contract and wondering if the "NSO's" would even be approved, we finally got 3 of the 10 requested prices, although one was not for what we had asked, bringing the actual number to two. During these three months of waiting, I became aware of some differences between sales documents. A difference in the number of windows shown on the sales floor plan and the elevations caused me to ask about the number of windows we were actually going to get. The question was ignored by our sales representative, Joanne Totten, and our construction manager, Adam Wright. I also discovered that there had been changes made that were not reflected in the models and other sales documents, nor were they disclosed to us in any way. When I asked about a specific architectural detail, Adam Wright's response was "We don't do it that way anymore". Most of these changes were small but I was beginning to see a trend.

We had lived in Sun City Hilton Head previously and had been aware of major discrepancies and lawsuits with Pulte in that community. Not getting approvals and prices for the "NSO's" in a timely manner, not getting questions answered and finding out that the houses were being "decontented" led to increasing frustration on my part. In addition, we had some issues with Pulte mortgage offering rates that we could easily find lower elsewhere.

On December 4th, I sent an email to Pulte saying that I was "unwilling to proceed". On December 5th, the sales manager for Britton Falls, Sean Clancy, called. His comment on the NSO's was that Pulte was not building a "custom home" but he could call in favors to get us prices. Even though the requests for changes were being allowed and encouraged, he made it sound as if he was doing us a big favor. His inability to see or admit that the Pulte process was not working well and that as a result, we were getting increasingly frustrated was enough to make us see that we did not want to continue with Pulte. Pulte sent us a letter indicating that we were in default instead of acknowledging their deficiencies and default on their part.

Since very little cost had been accumulated and the house had not been started, we fully expected to get our deposit back less a few dollars. Instead of doing the morally right thing, Pulte decided to take advantage of a couple of senior citizens and retain our $20, 000 deposit just to increase their bottom line. To keep this deposit in perspective;

• The $20, 000 deposit represents .00088% of Pulte's 2013 reported 3rd Qtr profits.
• This same $20, 000 represents 2% of our savings for a lifetime.

Recommendations:

• Do not buy a house from Pulte whether in a Pulte, Centex, Sun City or Del Webb community unless it is fully completed so that you can see the final finishes and know what really is included. Inspect a house in the same community that is at the insulation stage so that you fully understand what you are getting.
• If you do want to have Pulte build a house, do not trust the sales information to be accurate.
• Get all price, approvals and detailed specifications before signing a contract to build a house.
• Have your attorney review Pulte's contract - it is totally one sided and not changeable but you need to know the ramifications prior to signing.
• If you still want to continue, do not feel pressured to use Pulte mortgage.

I had to deal with Sean Clancy as well, I paid for one option and got something else instead. I was basically told that I got what I paid for...which I didn't get what I paid for. He basically told me to deal with it. Pulte in Indiana takes advantage of everyone. In my case I'm not an electrician and got screwed.

PulteGroup my home

I bought a Centex (Pulte) home approximately 3 years ago, brand new. Since then a wide variety of problems have occurred, Mostly small problems, some of which they have sent someone out to correct as I am still within the warranty period of my new home. Well the fence has been a problem since day one, and I have taken time out of my schedule to correct it as often as I could because Centex (Pulte) claims that they are not responsible for the very poor quality materials and workmanship that went into the fence. Well if finally blew over completely a few months ago, the structural members simply snapped off at the ground level. When I demanded that someone come out and look at it they sent their warranty manager for my area. He told my wife all kinds of stories that are unrealistic thinking that she would not know the difference between the truth and his non-sense. Since his site visit, he has only emailed me once to state that they are not going to correct the problem. I've sent him long detailed emails, and called and left multiple messages with no reply. They are simply washing their hands of this issue, even after I proved to him that the fence was not properly installed in the first place. Terrible customer service, terrible quality...I would never buy another home from either Pulte or Centex. BUYER BEWARE!

PulteGroup under mount sink failure

Our Pulte Homes under mount kitchen sink fell off, literally. The cause of the failure was two fold. 1) Defective Design - The Pulte under-mount sink was installed with adhesive only around the perimeter. Best practices dictate that mechanical fastening should also be used in addition to adhesive around the perimeter of the sink. 2) Defective workmanship - The failure initially occurred along the front edge of the sink. In this area the adhesive bead was very thin and nonexistent in spots.
I called Pulte to allow them the opportunity to 'make it right'. The Pulte representative stated that the home was 6 years old and 'out of warranty'. Pulte declined to fix the problem. The defects that lead to this failure clearly occurred during construction, but remain hidden long enough for Pulte to to use the expired warranty excuse to avoid the issue.
Buyer be ware!

We have lived here 5 years and house is falling apart. Windows have water pouring in down inside of glass. Told this was normal by last person. He said it was just normal. Well, floors soaked. Stucco falling off house. Normal. Garbage disposal had to be replacedl Microwave had to be replaced. Only could buy 1 GE that fit space. Refrig had to be replaced. Hollow tiles over floor, afraid someone will fall through. Grout terribly cracked. Was told all this not structurally related so nothing would be done. Well, I plan to sit in front of the sales office here at Shadow Hills with a sign that says' Pulte Home disintegrate after five years. Buy at your own risk.'

thanks for sharing. At Sun City Hilton Head, a 7, 000 home Pulte/Del Webb community where we bought, there are widespread problems with defective stucco, cracked floors, leaking roofs, roofs where nails were substituted for hurricane clips, etc. Like the little birdie says: "cheap, cheap!"

PulteGroup bad construction and service

I bought a Pulte home 5 months ago and found that dryer vent was plugged. The cover was not fully opened and plugged within 5 months. I submitted service ticket and nobody shows up. I had to pay a company to fit it. Then Pulte called back saying it is a maintenance issue and was not covered by warranty. It is clearly a construction issue because the cover can not be opened and they did not bother to send people to check for 10 days.

Then, two location was leaking during the rain. I called ER in the weekend, was told that someone will contact me Monday. I called service and was told again service manager will contact me for sure. Nobody has contact me yet.

Bad quality, bad service, non professional. DO NOT EVER BUY PULTE HOME!

PulteGroup home settlement

June 2012 I put $10.000 as a deposit on a carriage home with the expetation that it would probably be ready in jan. 2013. My contract states the first quarter of 2013 which I figure would be april 2013. I can deal with that but as of now the fourth unit has not been sold and they do not have a sample to prospective buyers to view. I am very concerned that I can't get a date since I am renting and have to move out in de and I have rented a place to live in new jersey for the winter. I have a husband with alzheimers and I can not move hime again after april. I was not given the option to put in a contract with a contingency so I sold my home which was a del webb pulte home for about 25, 000 less plus the extras I put into it. I really need to have a date to move in and hope you will take into consideration my circumstances and start building the bldg 21 before you get the 4 unit sold. St this point I need to know if I should look elsewhere for a home I thank you for you time.

PulteGroup poor counter top installation and faulty foyer window

Our granite counter top is literally becoming detached from the base. This is a HUGE safety issue, and clearly is caused by poor installation. Pulte refuses to fix this issue, and directed us to a billable vendor. I have never experienced such poor workmanship within a home. I would never recommend this company. We are also experiencing issues with our foyer window. It is full of moisture. I believe this again is due to poor installation and/or poor quality of the product. Our house was one of the last homes to be completed, and it is my belief this was a "rush" job. Now my husband and I are left to foot the bill because of the in-competencies of Pulte. Their warranty department is worthless!

PulteGroup roofing issues

We moved into our Pulte Home just 7 years ago. The home was previously owned for a year. For the last few years we have had multiple issues with roofing shingles flying off whenever a storm comes through. At $250 or so a pop to repair, this is becoming a sinkhole of debt. We were told the shingles were probably installed in the winter and therefore the adhesive did not set right. What a ripoff. I should not need to drop thousands into an 8 year old roof!

PulteGroup cracked garage floor

My Pulte Townhome is still under warranty for structural defects. There appear to be two such issues:
(1) The house has apparently settled and the garage concrete floor is cracked. I would like Pulte warranty inspector to inspect it and take action. My cell phone number is [protected]. (best number to reach me); and my home number is [protected]. Address: 47688 Sandbank Square, Sterling VA 20165
(2) There also appears to be a major electrical fault on the second level of the 3 level townhome.
Overall, I have been a very satisfied owner.
Regards, Judith A. Fincher

PulteGroup brand new leaking home!!! horrible customer service!!!

My name is Clay Jeppsen, my wife and I moved into our brand new Pulte home in Mesa AZ April 27th 2012. The first 2 months we lived there we had our house torn apart like a construction zone because of 4 different plumbing leaks that damaged multiple rooms, ceilings, carpet, walls and cabinetry. The 1st leak we thought was an oversight, the 2nd leak may have been a coincidence. Then when the 3rd leak happened we thought "ridiculous". Then when the 4th leak happened we thought it must have been a joke. Maybe some restoration company sabotaged the job so they could have future work. Pulte took 2 months to get the work done on the 4 leaks. When the 4th leak was brought to there attention, they tried to make it look like it was our fault because they were ashamed.

Note: we finally got to a point in our lives where we wanted to reward ourselves with a newer, nicer home to raise our family in. We have grown out of our old one. But our old home of 10 years never had this many problems. We spent twice as much money on this home and now we don't think it was worth it. We are 2.5 months in and we are completely disheartened with our new home. That's a stinky feeling when we hoped to stay here for 15 years. During the first 2 months living here we couldn't even use our new kitchen, my wife couldn't bring friends or family over to show them her new home, all conversations with them was about how we've had problem after problem and how embarrassing it is that we bought a lemon. That stinks too.

What bothered me the most as husband and protector, was that I had to be at work while my house was filled with servicemen and my wife was home alone. I tried to come home sometimes but I couldn't be there everyday. That left a sick feeling in my stomach daily. I had no idea who these guys were or what their background was. I was a cop for 10 years so you can imagine how that made me feel. Bad things happen everyday in the walls of your own home. My point...Pulte never even recognized these pains, never sent my wife flowers or a gift card to say sorry. Horrible customer service in my eyes. We couldn't live in our home the first two months. Our safety was jeopardized in more than one way. I am asking them for the equivalent of 3 months mortgage back in cash. But they won't respond to even address my complaint. So I have turned to social media and blogs to see if I can get a response this way. Social media and brand managers seem to care a little more than frontline customer service. Pulte Homes is awful.
