PulteGroup garage doors

We negotiated a contract for a new home under the assumption that all option upgrades were provided. During the pre drywall walk through we were told that the garage doors come standard with windows at the top. When garage doors were installed they did not include windows, when we enquired as to why, we were told this was an option upgrade and was previously standard, but now we would have to pay for it, a $1500 upgrade. We informed pulte that we were not told that this was an option at any point during contract negotiations and it was confirmed by the builder that the windows would be standard and had we known we would have included it as part of the deal. Pulte took a very long time to get back to us with information that there is nothing they could do. This is absolutely unethical and misleading and we are very upset about this, the website boasts committment to customer satisfaction and we absolutely not satified. We feel that Pulte should have accomodated this change given the circumstances with it ultimitely being Pulte's fault not ours.

PulteGroup neighborhood of crack houses

Pulte homes in the Fairhaven subdivision of the City of Schertz have problems, ranging from cracks in the walls to foundations that appear to be splitting horizontal. Today, the building industry is one of the most unregulated industries in the nation. Pulte builds lousy houses like ours because they can. Unless more people speak out publicly, this will continue. Please support "Fairness for Fairhaven" and others fighting for the right for new home buyers to expect and receive safe and sound, quality construction.
If you are a prospective home buyer, BEWARE! Pulte/Centex are not the only builders that build questionable housing.

Pulte Homes builds shoddy houses (http://peretired.blogspot.com/). The author is correct that "Unless more people speak out publicly, this will continue." The author is also correct in warning: "If you are a prospective home buyer, BEWARE! Pulte/Centex are not the only builders that build questionable housing." However, Pulte's houses aren't "questionable"; they're SHODDY.

PulteGroup community infrastructure

Pulte Homes are in the development business as well as just building homes. The Infrastructure of my town-home community; roads, water lines, sewer lines, storm drainage are sub-par. My community is 11 years old and we have had over 50 water breaks in owner's yards as well as in the street. In addition storm drains have clasped. Streets are in disrepair. The community is responsible for all of this and has caused our HOA dues to go up to pay for Pulte's sub par contractors and materials. They have not responded to our request for compensation for their incompetence. So, when looking into a Pulte community that the community is responsible for streets/water lines/sewer ask and verify a warranty for such systems, they probably don't have such.

PulteGroup water line breakage

our main water line is broken and are currently without running water, having trouble getting repairs... where is pulte cannot get in contact with.
main water line break. why is the water line, not in line with the meter.
water line makes 2, 90deg turns from the house, then a 45deg and approx 60' to the meter box across the property...opposite main shutoff.
standard design proceedure; from home to street in a direct line with no bends. (design 101)
water and gas lines should run in a straight direct line from street to home and should not break. unless, tampered with or a disaster.
(have the slightest idea to where the gasline runs.)
cannot get in contact with pulte...

>>>some of the past history with this pulte home, we are the original and current owners;
>pulte also did not connect the master bed tub and shower drains to the main...water ran thru the walls and floor causing mold.
>pulte allowed rebar to protrude thru the garage floor. nails embedded in concrete driveway
>pulte had also put broken tiles on roof and caulked them.
>pulte allowed poor shower construction.
> pulte allowed poor wood moulding and shelving construction.

PulteGroup plumbing

Our home was built in 2003 and have had next to no problems. Recently the sewage line backed up into the unfinished basement. $609.00 later the plumber finds that the basement roughin was not installed properly. The water flows away from the sewer line. This has existed from the time it was built and the concrete poured. Additionally the water flowed away from the sump pump. Pulte refusese to repair it stating the warranty has expired. It makes no difference it took nearly 8 years to find the problem because it took that long for the sewage to back up and plug the line. The estimated cost of repairs is $11, 000.00. I used to be a big Pulte fan but now I will tell everyone do not buy Pulte. They do not stand by their work.

PulteGroup hands down the worst drywall finish, door frame finish I have ever experienced in my life

Hands down the worst drywall finish, door frame finish I have ever experienced in my life. We were rushed through our closing and with a bit of slight of hand weren’t able to really take the time to fully examine all of the walls, doors, etc.

When you have your final walk through take at least half a day and examine all joints and door frames/trim. I’ve seen better dry walling done by weekenders with little or no experience.

Pulte will lie to you, will try to get you to settle for less than you deserve, and will stall, stall, stall in an attempt to run out your warranty. They do not build quality homes and their sales staff are little more than used cars sales people.

Stay away from Pulte Homes. We’ve fought them for two years and have gotten a number of things corrected, but the quality of materials used and fit and finish does not warrant what they charge for their townhomes.

I read recently where Centex merged with them; hopefully they’ll learn a thing or two because the quality is non-existent and they don’t care. Their response to most things, without saying it, is essentially “tough luck buddy, you were stupid enough to buy from us”.

Whatever you do, Don’t buy a Pulte home.

You were the buyer and the one signing all the paperwork. They very well can't close until you sign so you had the upperhand. It's up to the buyer to take the time to make sure all is in order and to your satisfaction before closing.

Sorry but I had the same experience and they threatened me $500 a day fine for every day I did not close. Horrible company to deal with as they use passive aggressive tactics to bully their clients. They promised they would finish everything after closing and they did do some things but most left undone. Oh it is a lot of fun having workers in your house sanding and painting while you are living there

PulteGroup - quality

We bought a new Pulte Home thirteen years ago and this house is falling down around us! We have a two story home and every floor upstairs is creaking when you walk on them. The staircase baseboard and moulding is pulling away from the walls, the banister is lose and leaning, the foundation of the kitchen floor cracked and ruined the twenty five hundred...

PulteGroup poorly built home

Brand new home, looks like a home from other builders at one-third the price, will sell and take the hit. This house, expensive, should be built to be proud of but I won't stay there or allow my family for safety reasons.in my opinion, this house was built to make the company money and couldn't care about the consumer or the quality of the product.

Over the weekend I will put a for sale sign up, will inform anyone interested in the house concerning my issues with the house, and offer them the home for$200, 000 which I paid #300, 000 in november of 2010.

We are buying a 300K Pulte right now and I'm trying to get out of the deal. The home was inspected two days ago and the list of items needing repair is too long to list here. The High points are these: The rafters in the roof are all way over 24" on center, the granite counter tops are two different colors, the weep holes in the brick are mortared shut and the rear patio door was installed backward! Note to mention holes, cracks and faulty installation of electrical outlets. I already want out before we have to close.

PulteGroup warranty issue/customer service

There was a leak from the ceiling of our guest room bath that looked like it was coming from the fire sprinkler system.they sent out someone to check it and created a hole in the dry wall ceiling.when they found that it was not from the sprinkler system, they left it open and states it's not covered by warranty. they should replace the hole they made and have us deal with what caused the leak.they didn't explain or made us agree to what they would do to troubleshoot the issue.very deceitful!

PulteGroup house

There have been various issues with my Pulte money-pit. When I first bought my house 5 years ago, during the walk through I had to fight for them to fix siding which was cracked and warped. As other people have stated, my windows have condensation buildup, especially in the bathroom. As others again, the whole house is drafty where we require blankets to just to sit around. Even with additional caulking and weatherstripping the heat just goes from my house. Then when the window breaks there is no one to fix the problem, no number to call, no one calls back from the construction number they provided. I have a bad garage door where water settles in my garage if it rains or I turn my sprinklers on, again they could not fix the garage door thought it was a problem I stated on the walk through. Last winter, I had SNOW in my attic. A section of outside wall had a huge hole and icing formed leaving water spots throughout my ceiling.
As stated by others, I will NEVER buy another Pulte home and will tell others NEVER to buy Pulte since the quality is not up to standard. If I knew about all of the problems Pulte had before I bought this house, I would have definitely ran away. This is a poor company no matter what anyone says, I am ashamed to live here and even more ashamed I have to raise a child in this house.

I suggest you look elsewhere. We have had 10 serious problems with our home. We feel they were mainly do to poor workmanship and getting these things fixed either in warranty or out has been a headache. The club house is way too small to hold an event for the families here now. Constant problem with one of the gates not working. HOA meetings are controlled by the President who is a lawyer for Pulte and works as well for the Management Company. The one positive thing are the people living here are truly friendly.

PulteGroup pulte horrible builders stafford lakes

Well where do I start? We purchased a home at the stafford lakes location in fredericksburg, va. While we were getting ready to close they were as nice can be and blow hot smoke up your butt about there warranty on there homes. Well don't believe the hype with there bull as we have had about 5 or 6 major issues in our home in less then 3 months.in less then a week of moving in we had the first mishap when our finished basement was flooded due to there backyard contractors forgetting to put clamps on the hoses. Then the air con unit went down when it was about 102 degrees outside was told we will fix it next week well I can attest that it took almost 2 weeks. We have had problems with leaking sealing, wet basement and all they can tell is that they are working on it. Well that is a bunch of garbage, you call the there service line and they tell you they are working on it and forget it when there redneck superintendents on the filed have to come over. They give you all kinds of attitude for something they should have gotten done the first time and that you should be grateful to be blessed with there presence.
All I can say please be aware of what your in for if you purchase a home from pulte builders. So if I were considering buying a pulte home I would not even think of it as they are horrible all around from building, workmanship, and last but not least there horrible customer service.

Jeff 813, you are absolutely right, we have had everything in the book go wrong with a home Pulte/Del Webb built for us in Sun City. They are single handedly ruining the name of Del Webb all over the US as they use the Del Webb name in conjunction with their building developments. They have such a horrible reputation that they now use Del Webb instead of their own name. That says it all! Del Webb has been dead for at least two decades, but Pulte evidentally bought the rights to use their name, poor Del Webb is probably "rolling in his grave."

If he only knew what his kid's allowed Pulte to do to their Dad's reputation. What a rip off Pulte using Del Webb's name, they are nothing like Del Webb was in terms of being a reputable builder. Del Webb has been dead since 1974. But, watch out, because Pulte still uses his name because they have such a horrendous reputation everywhere they build using their Pulte name.

DO NOT BE FOOLED - PULTE BUILDERS ARE THE BIGGEST RIP OFF ARTISTS OF THE CENTURY IN TERMS OF BUILDERS.!
Shortly after you move into their homes, the problems begin, and five years later you realize that the house "really" has fallen apart. We have replaced everything in it, work on water softner, water heater, dishwasher replaced, garbage disposal replaced, fans replaced (wobbles), all trim needed painting and wooden trims around garage door has dry rot and was replaced and repainted.

We repainted every bit of wood trim front and back. Coating on garage apron is flaking off, brick work is coming off, repairs all over the house necessary, windows leaked and fogged up and had to be totally replaced, both sliding glass door windows had problems, smoke alarms goes off at will and we had to replace them, electrical in laundry room was all backward, we had to fix at out own expense. Beam broke in attic, and actually feel down 6 months after moving in. Stove is cheap and cannot be cleaned well and we are immaculate house keepers? Weird stove! Kitchen sink fixtures leaked at faucet and needed to be replaced. Floor tiles cracked in ten tiles or more, due to being hollow enough underneath (because floors were not floated with any material to make it level) before they placed the tiles down. We now have at least 12 or 14 tiles that have cracked due to unlevel floors. Carpet had seam for over four years that would not go away, it showed the entire time and never settled out. We finally replaced the floors, Wood work around columns was horrible and cracks constantly even after being fixed. Light fixture in front of home still spins it had such a bad installation job done on it. We can't get it to stay in place, so it spins in windy weather. Shingles needed to be nailed down they were flying off the roof when we moved in. Coil on AC turned out to be faulty, and they had to replace it within two years. Garage door openers had constant problems with the beams not being able to shut the garage door. Pulte used one of the cheapest garage doors available and if you complain about anything they say you are paying for the "LIfe Style" in a retirement community, and not quality things in a home. It is a joke all over Sun City retirement Communities and everyone laughs about it. In other words Pulte has a right to "rip you off" because you are living the "LIfe of Riley" in one of their retirement homes? Pulte Builders is a joke, do not waste your time and your money. If you move into a Pulte Home just recognize that you will thoroughly enjoy fixing everything that they ever placed in your home, and it will take about five or six years to go through every single thing that goes wrong. You will be living in a deluxe home that is an endless "money pit"! Good luck! And none of this is exaggerated at all! What a life!

PulteGroup warranty maintenance

The warranty Department is a joke. They are rude and depending on who you talk to have no idea what constitutes and emergency and what does not! This morning I called them to have our A/C in repaired because it is not working -- we have only been in our home since Jan/Feb 2010.
On another note, the HOA fees that we pay ($249) are worthless. We have dead grass, gates that are constantly open or broke, a gym that is not conducive to people who work late hours (the place closes at 9 p.m.), I could go on.

So many of our neighbors would sell immediately if they could including us. Don't move/buy in a Pulte community! They are terrible.

PulteGroup the worst plumbing

If we had the opportunity to buy another Pulte home, we would pass. Our house is only 12 years old and we saw that some ceilings had been redone obviously to fix water leaks. We made the mistaken assumption that the leaks were all fixed by the previous owner. After living here only three years, we've had open three walls and ceilings to fix leaking plumbing. That does not count the leaky house-bibs we had to replace outside.

The worst part is the noise the water makes. The study on the main floor is located directly below the master bath. When anyone runs water or flushes the toilet upstairs, we can't hold a normal conversation on the phone because the water noise in the pipses is so loud.

We purchased our home in 2007. Today our kitchen sink started to pull away from our grnite top. I called in a plumber who informed me that there was no braces holding up the sink other then the grout which is now gone. There should have been braces supporting the sink installed. I'm at a loss as who to contact regarding this. The plumbing company informs me that the counter top people should have secured the sink. Does that make any sence? In the meantime I am paying a plumber for a problem I should not have to deal with.

PulteGroup doesn't honor contract, changes terms, steal's earnest deposits

Do not buy from pulte they will change your contract terms and steal your deposit. Apparently the economy has finally caught up with this company. I notice that the volume of complaints has escalated dramatically in late 2009 and early 2010. I am currently a pulte home owner. I bought my present home in late 2006 after it was built for me by pulte. I paid somewhere around $320, 000 for this home which is in the chicago area. Due the current real estate market pulte has dropped prices to almost $200, 000 for the exact same house because they have chosen to stop developing my community. This will cost me way more than just $100, 000 when you factor in the interest on my current mortgage based on my purchase price of $320, 000. This could very easily happen to you. Fortunately I was able to sustain this loss and I actually made the decision to buy a 2nd home in florida in late 2009. I found a community in south florida and pulte happened to be one of the builders. I looked at their homes and was quite pleased. I decided to purchase 2 of these homes for just over $200, 000 each. Over the next 6 months I had problem after problem with the pulte group. First they did not honor the terms that were agreed upon, in writing, within the contract. They promised a gated community but failed to disclose that the gates are kept wide open for the majority of the day every day eliminating the entire purpose of living in a gated community. Secondly they misplaced the foundation of my home by over 8 feet. When I brought this to their attention they acted as if it happens every day to them! I work in real estate and construction so I suppose this should have been a big red flag but I was so busy with my own work I still continued with these purchases. They relocated my foundation but did so in such a quick time period that they failed to allow for proper settling, my own construction experts have confirmed that the land would need substantial time to re-settle after being disturbed in this manner. I inspected the property mid-way through construction and noticed cracking all over the concrete exterior walls of the homes and other signs of poor workmanship. I asked the sales manager about this and he never responded. Within another few days the pulte group had applied the stucco so you could no longer see the cracks instead of actually fixing the cracks and other areas of shoddy workmanship. On top of all of this they agreed to provide a mortgage for one of the homes under certain terms with a written approval more than 60 days before the scheduled closing. Then just 8 days before the closing they contacted me and completely changed the terms giving me no option but to accept their terms or lose my deposits of over $40, 000. When I expressed that this might be a problem with less than 8 days before the closing they sent me a letter telling me I was in default and they would be taking my entire deposits if I did not close on their originally scheduled closing dates.

These people are not professional and they apparently have significantly reduced their construction standards. I am not sure if they are just scamming people for the deposits so they can re-sell the property for a better profit or not but I can say with certainty that they are completely unprofessional and no one should do business with these people. These were my 2nd and 3rd pulte homes so I was previously satisfied with this company. Something has seriously changed and I would be very wary of doing any purchases with this company. Don't risk your hard earned money. Avoid the pulte group at all cost.

PulteGroup bad service

After agreeing to purchase a Pulte home in Anthem at Merrill Ranch in Florence, AZ the nightmare with Pulte Mortgage started. We started the application process on-line on January 14th and finally received a 'no' to our loan on April 21st! In the interim, Pulte Mortgage had locked our rate and scheduled the closing for April 26th. They made requests for more information periodically, which was always supplied within 24 hours. The service could best be describe as the kind you would expect at the Post Office or the Department of Motor Vehicles.

We never had the opportunity to speak to ANY decision maker during the process, although requests were made on numerous occasions. If you purchase a Pulte home, take the 1% credit they offer for closing costs and go get a mortgage elsewhere! The credit they offer for going through Pulte Mortgage is definitely not a bargain. All in all, the experience was a nightmare.

PulteGroup bodily harm

Pulte still hasn't paid for deliberate birth injury to my baby born premature in hotel during my evacuation time from my moldy house. Here in Las Vegas they get away with highly negligent ways to build houses. Here in Las Vegas Pulte Homess builds houses you cannot sell nor live in. How can you bring children, especially premature babies into house that has green toxic mold throughout? Childlike supervisors and sloppy contractors are Pulte's norm.

PulteGroup house is falling apart

Do not buy a Pulte Home!
My new wife and I bought a new Pulte home before it was completely built in December of 2008. They did not build the house right. I don't know much about building homes that is why I paid hard earned money to purchase this house and now we have the following problems: The attached the truss to the frame of the building which caused plenty of problems. As the truss lifted and moved (as it should) it brought the rest of the house up and down which lifted the sheet rock walls off the ground and cause "nail pops" which is when the nails poke through your sheet rock ceiling. Also, as the truss lifted the columns in our kitchen broke free from the ceiling leaving gaps between the tops of the columns and the sheet rock ceiling. So the house is pretty much coming apart at the seams.

Here is the kicker. There are about a dozen homes on my block that I know of that have the exact same problems and worse. We would like to put a class action suit on them or take them to court individually. These are all things you do not want to think about or deal with when you pay a huge down payment on a house like this and have a mortgage to work for and pay for each month. Not to mention if the house is going to fall on top of us as we sleep.

Yes, Pulte came in and "fixed" the issues, but two months later the same problems are occurring. Not to mention, none of their contractors speak English and I am afraid to ask for their green cards. Now I get referred to the Pulte website to request service issues, don’t speak to a person and I can't get my representative to call me back.

Long story short: Do not buy a Pulte home. They will suck you in with financing and smiles on the upfront. But on the back side of the experience, no smiles, no phone calls and a home that is shaky at best - Brand New!

Class action lawsuits go a long way! Our Pulte townhome was built in Central Florida in 2017. We took occupancy in 2018. We have had problems ever since. Rain has leaked in our garage a few times. This last time was in November 2020 and it seems they finally fixed it correctly, however they have not been back out to repair the ceiling in the garage. Now we have AC problems. Another neighbor just purchased a new AC unit last week and was told by 3 other companies the AC units in these townhomes are too small. We had an AC company out today and were also told they had too small units installed. Of course, Pulte denies this saying "it passed city/county inspection". Our HOA is in current litigation against Pulte. We have found that Pulte likes to cut corners and take the cheap way out without caring about the ramifications to the homeowners.

We are experiecing similar problems in Ashburn Virginia in a 55 and over Del Webb community. The problems all seem to go back to the roof trusses. The models are all experiencing the same signature cracks. Only here we have over 75 homes right now with similar issues, ranging from bad to worse. Our home has been fixed 5 times since we purchased it in late 2007, but the cracks keep on re-appearing. This will be the 6th time they will be fixing our home. Now Pulte has sent a letter out to us and to many of the other homeowners saying that they will do this fix in 6 months ( a year after they fixed it last) in June 2011. They further state that this will be the final fix. We honestly feel that this is only a bandaid fix and this problem will not ever go away unless they fix it right. We have contacted out congressman, sentators and local county officials but so far nothing has been done. We are also trying to contact news media to get this publicized more but fear that Pulte is buying everybody off. Class action law suit sounds like the path we might be taking, but wouldn't it be nice if we could organize all over the country? Understand it is happening in many of the Pulte homes all over the U.S.

PulteGroup no house as promised and paid

My family: mom, dad, two sisters and baby brother had to move from Pulte Homes house, because of construction defects. Our family also lost an opportunity to sell the house with any profits when everyone else was selling . Selling a moldy house would have been illegal and impossible. How is it possible that Pulte Homes did not get us a decent house they were paid for? Why is Pulte Homes so expensive when kids supervise its construction? Why was my premature baby brother born in stinky Las Vegas hotel room with skull asymmetry? We asked for compensation, all we got from Pulte Homes was lies, lies, lies.

PULTE HOMES... CAVEAT EMPTOR!

CAVEAT EMPTOR!

We purchased a Pulte built house in 2006. It has been absolutely the worst experience as a home owner. Pulte used "non-english speaking" labor (I can"t even think of calling them "Craftsmen") to build the house, and the construction quality of everything from flooring to roofing is abysmal at best. I complained several times to Pulte, but they always took a "band aid" approach to repairs. Now the home is out of warranty, and they no longer respond to complaints. Never again will we buy a Pulte built house, and we have certainly caused several of our friends and colleagues to choose another builder and avoid buying a Pulte house.

I'll bet dollars to donuts you have fiber glass insulation. Get a lawyer who specializes in these type of law suits.
If fiber glass is involved you may have recourse against the builder, insulation contractor, architect and building commissioner in your area for using, specifying or allowing a product that is known for a wide variety of health issues.

PulteGroup doesn't honor contract

We entered into a contract with Centex Homes in October, Pulte Homes purchased Centex homes. We were told They would not start our home unless we removed the contingency to sell our home even though we had a ratified contract saying they would start our home and we would have until 60 days prior to closing to remove the contingency. They recognize the fact that we have the contract and say if we choose to pursue them legally they will take 2 years to build our home. Which is a little "fail safe" for them in their contracts. In the end, they said we could release them from the contract and they would give us our full deposit back... But they were definitely not going to start our house. We had a closing date of April 22, 2010 to move into our dream house. Now we are stuck searching for a place to live...

PulteGroup contamination

I wanted to warn potential buyers of Pulte Homes at Riverpoint in Manchester, New Jersey. Do not buy these homes! They are surrounded by sites with contaminated soil, for instance- Lakehurst Naval base is a SUPERFUND SITE! Right across the street. Once the word gets out, the property value will drop. The site is also surrounded by industry such as Reade Manufacturing, this company works with Magnesium and had several explosions, one killed a worker. I will post more info as I come across it but start telling everyone you know about this site...IT SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN ALLOWED!

A gigantic builder like Pulte/Dell Webb/ Centrex will certainly have incidents of poor construction etc...
They sub-contract ! Not all subs are equal ! That said, however, any pattern of bad behavior should be of concern. Inet searches can be helpful but may be misleading too. Legal research may be better because legal papers must contain some facts. Do your "due diligence" before you act, "buyer beware"!

I moved to River Pointe in August '08 and knew in advance of the Lakehurst and Reade problems--and that they'd been grandfathered against noise and other problems. Fortunately, our contruction has been satisfactory (unlike neighbors whose ceiling caved because of rainwater coming through the roof soffits). Generally, though, Pulte has been unwilling to examine any complaints, remediate or discuss any problems. Put it down to poor earnings, I guess.
