Publishers Clearing House / PCH.com multiple billing scams

I ordered a number of items from Publishers Clearing House and in the beginning the products shipped were the ones I ordered and paid for. Then I began receiving items I did not order and returned them immediately. I began to receive bills for the returned items and tried to reach PCH many times and returned their bills with letters. Finally, I paid the bill simply to avoid a problem with my credit as they threatened me with a collection agency. They cashed the check, but now they are billing me again for more money and will not inform me why only the threatening remarks.

Now, they are calling a phone number belonging to the people who live in another house on my street and leaving threatening messages for me. I don't know how they got that phone number since it is not even listed under my name. I don't even know them and they are being harassed by PCH and it is so embarrassing. This neighbor is threatening to file a complaint against me with our police department.

Someone needs to advocate for people like since there are thousands of us. If you look at this website you will see what I mean: http://www.consumeraffairs.com/misc/publishers_clearinghouse.html

Please help people like me who have no where else to turn.

Thank you.

PCH is absolutely the WORST company to deal with. All I did was order a Berber rug. I paid the first part of the three part payments with a money order, and paid the rest out online with a VISA. They sent SIX payments dues after the darn thing was PAID OUT! On top of which, I ordered a mailsorter for my husband's office, and it never came, and they never even checked on it, or gave us a reason why. Do they hire drug addicts or what? I don't know. WORST people I've ever dealt with, won't deal with them again.

Publishers Clearing House / PCH.com unsolicited call on cell phone

I received a phone call today on my cell from a man claiming to be calling from "Publisher's Clearing House"...a Mr. Allenson. The phone number was [protected]. I looked up the area code and it was listed as "Jamaica"...a split from another area code. He stated that I needed to call him back immediately. That a package from the clearing house was "on it's way!". I haven't filled anything out from them. I am guessing that this is another "scam" to have people call and then they are billed unreal $ amounts on their phones. BEWARE!

Publishers Clearing House / PCH.com milldewed goods

I ordered Potholders Value Pack. When received, the potholders are smelly, milldewed. After putting them through wash and dry cycles, the smell still remains. I have a bill for $21.95 for shoddy, smelly articles. I will probably have to pay for these unusuable items, but will not order anything from this company again.

I never have ordered the potholders, I can get things like that cheaper at the Family Dollar down the street - but I did order the Diabetic Socks (buy two pairs and get two pairs free) got them quick and they're in fine shape, feel great too! Ronald Hartwig

Publishers Clearing House / PCH.com terrible experience

Publishers Clearing House insists that I still owe them money for a dvd in spite of the fact that I have submitted hard-copy documentation that the alleged debt has already been paid in full. Their response indicated that my payment 'was applied to another order... .'

To date PCH has failed to produce a detailed statement indicating to me HOW and WHEN/WHERE my payment(s) have been APPLIED and to which purchase(s)! PCH has clearly demonstrated to me their indifference to fairly addressing customer concerns. Now, my alleged debt has been turned over to a collection agency.

I have filed a formal dispute with the collection agency in which I enclosed a copy of my supporting documentation indicating to them that their debt collection notice is invalid.

I have assembled and maintained, over time, an extensive file documenting every transaction with PCH in anticipation of possibly having to confront an issue such as this. I can assure you that there will be no future transactions with PCH!

The only way you will receive something is if your order it through the mail, phone, or internet. You just dont randomly receive an item. People are stupid. Folks that dont remember stuff needs to write crap down they order.

Publishers Clearing House / PCH.com Fraud and cheating

On Friday, February 27th 2009 I got a fraudulent check in the mail for $5, 935.00 from Canada. It said that I had won the 2nd Grand Prize in the Reader's Digest Drawing. The prize was supposedly 1 million dollars.

The check had the name Sharon Mills at [protected] on it. When i called her I was told that an IRS agent had my million. I was supposed to put the $5, 935 in my account and send back $3, 800. The $3, 800 was for fees to come deliver the 1 million.

It sounded immensely real to me and I was planning on going through with it until i read all of the complaints on this website. I've seen others with the same check, who thought they won the same prize, and the same fake information was given to them. It's a scam! I got scammed!

It's depressing, really, that they get people's hopes up and then try to scam you out of all the money you own!

Publishers Clearing House / PCH.com Not providing statistics

This website's (www.pch.com) contractor does not provide statistics
as to winners who win through snail mail campaign and those
winners who win from online submissions.

It is believed by many of my colleagues and friends that these statistics
are primary to validate the sweepstakes and gives the participants a
clear understanding of their chances.

The website appears to be an advertising SCAM, which translate into
that the online participant names ARE NOT submitted into the pool
of possible winners. Not providing statistics, which are unbiased and
clean only mitigates a fraud. I want an answer, if not, I will submit this
message to online blogs, consumer report agencies, etc.

I can verify that Publishers' Clearing House does indeed dole out prizes to winners two or three times a month - my company has videotaped their giveaways since the 1980s, the most recent being last week when a lady won $5000/week for life. We have a great relationship with this company, and can promise that the prizes are real and are often won by people who enter online!

As for the stats etc, that I can't verify or explain. But I do know that PCH is definitely on the up-and-up when it comes to giving away prizes.

The PCH game pages don't work properly and freeze up almost every time I play the scratch off games. It is very hard to get a hold of PCH their web search page also never takes you directly to what you are searching for. I hav e received numerous phone calls from magazine sales people and other scam types of businesses.
I have never heard of anyone actually winning. They said it would be announced on WRTV 6 news witch is a Indianapolis station. I never seen on there or heard about any winners except the videos they make them selves. I was told I won a 1, 000 Wal-Mart gift card yesterday and took an hour long survey on PCH trying to sell me magazines and insurance. I supposed to receive an email which I never received. I think they should be held responsible.

I truly believe what they say about pch its just a marketing scam to get people to pay for product in order to win prizes and sweepstakes. If you do not continue to buy they eliminate you from their mailing list. In 30 years I have been dealing with them I have not been notified personally by them except for a bill I owe them.

I have spent hundred's of dollars on items in hopes of winning the contest. I would say 90% of what I have purchased is junk. Example...squirrel repellent, mole scanners in ground, ice cream scoopers, dog net for car, kitchen utensils (whisk's) and the flowers. On the other hand 3 items were good...bed pillows, bowl set and the dog toys. Look at my record and see everything that purchased. Other than these 3 things all the rest were junk.

Publishers Clearing House / PCH.com Sent me a refurbashed computer that did not have what was promised in add.

Publisher Clearing House sent me checks stating that I won these checks to purchase certain Items. I chose the computer. Sent them a check for $350.00. The computer came in two different shipments. First the monitor then the drive, keyboard and mouse. The on/off button for the speakers was broke. Took the speakers apart and fix button. Cannot turn the monitor off using the button. If the on/off switch is used on monitor can't turn back on. Short in the button. Can only turn monitor off by turning the power off. Did not get Micorsoft word, Excell and other software. Picture showed software in CD's. No back up CD.

Talked to a local shop in town that sells refurbeshed computers. Could have purchased one for $250.00 with a flat screen and keyboard that does not lock up everytime you try to type anything.

I just got a call from Penn Credit trying to collect a $40 debt for unpaid magazine subscrition to Oprah Magazine. They claim I received the magazines from Publisher's Clearing House back in FEb 2009 at my previous house in Troy, MI which I sold in May 2005. They also called me under my previous name (since remarried for 5 yrs) and I am not sure how they got my new phone number.
I never ordered the magazines, and why would I have them delivered to my previous address anyways? How can I get them off my back? I am going to write them a letter to explain this, but what else can I do? Please help asap if you can.

I received a bill for magazines supposedly orderd and received at my address. I never ordered or received magazine from PCH or anyone else for that matter. I contact them using the 800# on the bill to let them know that I never order from PCH nor would I like to. They advised me that it was a website order from a 3rd party. I let them know that it was not me and have not received the magazines. 2 weeks later I start getting the magazines I told them I did not order and did not want. I call them again and let them know I do not want their magazines and that I already called to tell them the bill is not mine. The lady tells me that I can cancel at anytime just pay the bill and send back notification I want to cancel. I tell her again I am not paying the bill and to stop sending the magazines as they will not be paid for and I am not paying to ship them back. Needless to say I called 1 more time to no avail same pay the bill and cancel anytime for something I did not order. So I tossed the magazines. They were some dog magazine. I received a letter from a Penn Credit collections. I called them and let them know its a scam I will not be paying. They tell me that they will put it on my credit. I let them know that it was a web order from a 3rd party site that I did not place and good luck in trying to add it to my social since that would be missing information. Now I throw the collection letters away also. Avoid PCH at all costs and if someone orders it for you good luck.

Publishers Clearing House / PCH.com - pch claims that I placed order when submitting daily entry prizewinner confirmation

I logged onto the daily pch entry prizewinners competition. I confirmed my entry, as I have done many times. I then received a confirmation that I had placed an order with them for an electrical item. I wrote to pch and stated that I did not place an order with them. I was referred to this website by pch and have again e-mailed pch to reiterate the fact that I did not agree to place an order for any item.

Publishers Clearing House / PCH.com bad service

I have been dealing with pch for months now. I entered the contest online and sometimes ordered items. then, I started getting items that I hd not ordered, although I was billed for them. I e-mailed that I had not ordered these and if they would send me a pre postage label, they would be returned. I was told that it is not their practice to pay return postage. I had already been charged postage when it was mailed. I then received another unordered item-same thing all over again. me writting and them saying I ordered upon entering contest. I had ordered an item and paid for it upon ordering, using a credit card. after all this other happened, I got a bill for the item I had paid for! now, they tell me (three times) that they did not receive the money and would I please send them my credit card statement. I told them no way and to leave me alone. I had already asked to be removed from all their mailings 4 times. today, I got another one, asking for my credit card statement. I checked twice and my credit card was paid to them on 7/07/08.

This company is the pits to deal with. sstill not settled.

I get three different mailings for the same drawing ocurring on the same date. Should I fill one of the mailings for one entry or should I send all three mailings for three entries. I was wondering if I was wasting my time mailing all three for one entry.

This concerns order # [protected] 2 05468. This happened to me also. In June, I was told I ordered greeting cards WHICH I NEVER RECEIVED. When I made payment for jelly beans that I DID order, they applied part of the payment to payment of the cards. I called, and also sent a letter telling them that I never received the cards and that I wasn't going to pay for them. Lo and behold, today (Nov. 14th) I received a pkg of greeting cards in the mail. I DON'T WANT THEM, I REFUSE TO BE CHARGED FOR THEM AND I WANT INSTRUCTIONS ON THEIR RETURN AND CANCELLING THE CHARGE FROM MY ACCOUNT. i also want my name and account closed and removed from your mailing list.
