The case of Esmin Green, who died on the floor in New York City’s mental health hospital emergency unit while staff and other patients watched, doing nothing, is the same mentality as Marcus Eaton, a psychologist of Waycross, Georgia. He farms himself out to the Georgia labor department to interview people who have severe Social Security cases. However, rather than interview these subjects in privacy, he uses borrowed offices in which sound carries clearly to the ear of all other visitors and staff workers.

He is abusive, cutting off anything the person says whom he is interviewing that may be helpful to their case. Instead he takes what that person states and rather than writing it verbatim, remarks "So you are saying..." and inserts his own statement. He is not interested in hearing the facts of the case, but instead of insuring that the person has no case, even those who have years of well documented medical history.

In addition, he refuses to allow the person being interviewed to obtain a copy of the interview, even though the papers that you have to sign state clearly that you are supposed to be allowed to obtain a copy. He denies it. Finally, he is not interested in anything other than ensuring that the person who has applied get nothing into the case but what he wants there. It is clearly a case of the government and Marcus Eaton working to ensure that those who have the most extreme, well documented cases, are denied the ability to get the help they need.

It is a shame that the poor and most disabled are subjected to this kind of sham. Those who are mentally disabled and most likely to end up homeless or worse, are subjected this person when they need a true, and independent decision.

The U.S. Department of Justice said that a "lack of generally accepted standards" contributed to patient deaths at the state psychiatric hospital in Atlanta. Maybe they should also look at how the labor department and Marcus Eaton are treating people as well.
