Proactiv Keep trying to make me pay for returned shipment

I wish I had read the many complaints about how the Proactive Solutions program treats their customers and the deceptive practices of their program before I ordered a kit for my daughter through the internet. Its been a nightmare.

I do believe that the product works for some people but not all. It didn't work for my daughter so after a couple of shipments, I called and canceled the membership. The customer service rep informed me that there was another shipment on the way and that I could just send it back when I got it. It was a pain to get her to cancel the membership. She tried all kinds of tactics to persuade me to continue. It was annoying.

Weeks later when the last package arrived, I wrote 'return to sender' on it with a big black sharpie and took it to a local place that handles mail and shipments. (I have handled other unwanted shipments the same way without a problem.)

A month went by and then I started getting billing notices from Proactive Solutions saying that I owed for the shipment. I called customer service and explained the situation. He asked if I had proof that I mailed it back and I had to say no because I followed the instructions of the last rep I talked to and when you do 'return to sender' there is no documentation. After a lengthy debate, he said he would update my records and there should be no more bills. Well...he was a liar because another bill came a month later so I called customer service again. This time, the rep tried to claim that I sent it back too late so I still had to pay. Huh? I sent it back the day it arrived! I disputed that and went through the same discussion I had with the previous rep. This new rep made me the same promises that they fixed my account. I hoped this was the end of it.

But no...I next started getting bills from a collection agency as well as 2 and 3 phone calls a day. I answered the first call, explained the situation and the guy said he would update my file and I shouldn't hear from them again. Another liar. The bills from the collection agency and the phone calls from them have continued. It has been over a year now and they still are harassing me. I'm scared to look at my credit because I'm sure they have damaged it. I refuse to pay for something I sent back unopened.

I think part of the problem with this company is their strange shipping schedule. They send a bill weeks before the shipment arrives. By the time the package gets to you and you return it, it can be a month or more after the bill was sent.

For anyone reading this that wants to try the product, I would suggest you buy it from a kiosk at the mall. You will be sorry if you order it through the internet. There are also products that are just as good for less at your local retailers.

I'm having the SAME issue! I just spoke to some ### called Ryan. After insisting I talked to his supervisor, I was placed on hold for a rather lengthy time (I'm sure his hope that I would just give up and end the call), but when he returned I was assured that in 3-5 business days his supervisor (Marjorie S.) would make sure the refund owed me (now well over $50) will be returned to my account! This is the third time I've had to call and cancel this account. I'm normally I very mild manner person, but this was the final straw! What a scam! Do I think the product works-yes, I have success with it. Will I use the product again after this-no. I know I can purchase it in my local shopping mall, but I don't want any more of my money going to such an unethical company! Buyer beware!

Proactiv bad business practices

This company billed my credit card account twice in Feb, 3 times in March for one product shipment each month. I have numerous e-mails to customer service each with replies stating their policy for shipments. I have sent credit card statement showing amts taken out incorrectly. Now am receiving bill stating I owe more money when my acct ended March 25th. This company deducts from credit cards with no accounting. They do not take any complaints seriously nor do they try to fix any billing errors. In my opinion I would advise anyone intersted in this product to not buy any products from this company.

Proactiv scam will not refund money

This company will continue to charge your card after you cancel. They will not refund your money when you send back the product. The customer service is the rudest company I have ever dealt with. This was a very costly mistake. I have had to go through so much with my bank to get the debits from them to stop. Unless you have countless hours to spend dealing with this problem do not buy.

I could not agree with you more! I ordered my proactiv (from Guthy-Renker or whatever) in mid-june of this year, tried it out, it made my skin waaay worse, so I talked to a rep on the phone who told me to send it back. So I sent it back mid July (WELL under the 60 day money back guarantee), and was told not to contact them before about a month and a half as that is how long it would take for them to process the return. Well 2 months goes by, I email to find out where my refund is, and they claim they never received it at their warehouse, so it was "too late" for me to return my product (that I obviously didn't even have since I RETURNED it). So of course I am really ticked off that I wasted $10 shipping it back, and never got my money. Well just the other day I came across my receipt from sending it back. It even had the postal code of the place in Mississauga where returns are sent. So I tracked the package online and it turns out they DID receive the package on July 28. And a D. McLean even SIGNED for it! So they LIED about receiving the package, so I emailed them and attached the receipt and the delivery notice from canadapost.com, evidence that should definitely prove that I sent it back. And they STILL refuse to refund me! Bunch of friggin crooks is right!

Proactiv premature agin/skin cancer

I would like to inform all Proactive Users that Proactive contains benzoyl peroxide, which creates free radicals, and therefore causes premature aging and skin cancer. By using daily benxoyl peroxide, I would say I have aged prematurely of 10 to 15 years. As a result, I need now to recourse to plastic surgery and I am not mentioning the emotional distress and the financial cost. Proactive is simply a scam. It does get rid of acne but at the price of our youth, beauty and health.

This company has debited my account twice for product I have never received after the first order I paid for initially and received. I paid extra for "rush shipping" that took a week. I asked to cancel membership, they did not. While they stopped sending product tjey sure are charging me for it! Bad business in my opinion!

This company does not care about any customer service, We called them 4 months ago and closed the account, closed the bank account due to moving out of the area, Proactive sent product that was refused and sent back, they somehow pulled the money out of the closed bank account. Do not do any business with this scammer business, they don't care about anything except the money.

This outfit charged me before when I did not order any of their product. I am 65 years old. I don't do beauty products. I contacted them and they said they would close the account. Well, I never had an account. They said they would not do this again. I filed fraud charges with my bank. The charges were removed. I considered th matter resolved.
Now, they have done it again. They have taken the last money from my account without authorization. I am filing charges with the roswell police department, the better business bureau abd the sun trust fraud department! This time i'm going to sue them!

I've only been using proactive for 4 days, just before I go to bed. I hate looking in the mirror now because I'm 22, and I have wrinkles around my eyes that literally appeared overnight! My eyes look like a 50 year old! I sure hope this goes away:( I can't believe that proactive has made it as far as it has... I would never recommend this product to anyone. Premature aging is truly devastating...

Proactiv Can't Get Off Mailing List!

Guthy-Renker continually gives me problems! One year ago, I ordered Proactiv Solution, I tried it and was allergic to the ingredients. I sent it back, got my refund, and I thought that was it. WRONG! I started to receive annoying phone calls, trying to get me to buy more. I also received pamphlets from Proactiv in the mail.

Getting off their mailing list is a torture! I called the Customer Service number SO many times, I can't count anymore. Each time, they said that I was off the list, and wouldn't receive any more mailings. WRONG AGAIN! It's been eight + months of calling their support number, and the Guthy-Renker Corporate Office number [protected]) trying to get off their stupid mailing list. Renee, an agent in the Corporate Office has been "helping" me in the last four months, and I'm still receiving pamphlets in the mail for the Proactiv! She said that the Guthy-Renker IT Department is looking into it and will take care of it once and for all. WRONG AGAIN, AGAIN! Although Renee has been kind and patient with me, MY PATIENCE with GR is about to the end. I HAD IT WITH THESE CROOKS!

So in conclusion, I would NOT recommend that ANYONE to order from Guthy-Renker. Their "Customer Service" is a complete joke and a lie, and the Corporate Office hasn't helped me much either. DO NOT ORDER FROM GUTHY-RENKER, or you'll be sorry! I wish I NEVER would have ordered Proactiv in the first place, I never really needed it anyway. So BEWARE of marketing tactics, once they get you in, it's hard to get out!

I honestly just had your exact scenario happen you mentioned above ! word for word! now they are asking me to fax proof it was sent after i sent them tracking number and I also show a D. McLean signed for it! I can't even believe it. If they refuse to give me my money back I will have no choice but take action further, contact the better business bureau etc. Seems this company is scamming customers out of their money.

Proactiv unsolicited shipment

For years now I had seen advertisements for Proactiv so I decided to try it. I went on line and ordered one month. There was a box I could check to use my debit card for subsequent shipments but I did not check the box because I only wanted try the product. I am currently unemployed and money is very much in short supply so imagine my distress when three weeks later I was charged $40.00 the beginning of 3 monthly charges for a 3 month supply. When I called the company they told me that I had agreed to receive this shipment and have it charged to my debit card. I of course told the woman I had not agreed to this. She told me to return the product when I received it and I would receive a credit. So now, I am unable to pay my electric bill because basically Proactiv has stolen $40 from me. I can only imagine how long it will take to get my credit from them based on all the other complaints I have seen on the internet. By the way, the product is bogus. I see no change in my skin so it is nothing less than a scam-do not buy from these people they are not honest and you will not only be very disappointed but will most likely be ripped off!

Complain T0 Proactive
More customers should put complain about their business in order to shut it down. They make seem that we are getting a deal to receive the product for $19.95 with 2 free gifts without shipping or handling. But they are size of trial package. They also will send you the full size of product and bill you without your permission after 30 days. If you complain to the customer service, they will tell you that you can cancell the future order and send the package back to them, but you will have to pay for the shipping and handling. Why can this type of company stay in business by ripping off the customers? Is it an American way to get rich?

Proactiv Continual Hassle of Mailings

DO NOT do business with any of Guthy-Renker's products, you will either experience charges on your Credit Card that you did not authorize, will receive mailings a few times a month trying to get you to buy their products, or continually receive phone calls from their sales department.

I have had so much trouble with Proactiv Solution ($30s worth!) I ordered it and couldn't use it, allergic to an ingredient. So I sent it back, received my refund, but had a problem. I called SO many times to be removed from their mailing list...to not avail! It took about 10 months of calls to their "Customer Service, " of which each time the agents kindly said, "We're sorry for the inconveniences." Yeah right! All Guthy-Renker wants to do is SELL A LOT OF PRODUCTS! I spoke with over 20 people in that 10-month time, trying to stop the mailings and phone calls. Many of the agents were very RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL!

Finally, I called Guthy-Renker's Corporate Office at [protected] and spoke with a few people. The first two people did nothing about it, all they did was talk about what they "Could" do. It's been 2 months, and this deal of receiving mailings every month appears to have finally STOPPED! Each time I called the Proactiv Customer Service number [protected]) and asked for a supervisor or manager, I got the run-around and never spoke with one! These people known as "agents" don't seem to care at all for the customers!

Here are some tips:

1) If you need to speak with a manager or supervisor, don't even bother to ask, you won't get to speak with one. And if you do, they will probably be really rude! Save yourself the hassle, don't even ask! (Seriously!)

2) Call Guthy-Renker's Corporate Offices at [protected] or toll-free [protected] and dial 0 (zero.) I recommend that you call the toll-free number at [protected] and DIAL EXTENSION# 5517 for Renee Miller, a VERY helpful Representative that has really helped me with this inconvenient matter. Her office hours are 9-5 Monday through Friday Pacific Time. I hope this helps!

3) File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. This company deserves to hear your complaint through the BBB. Guthy-Renker is located in Palm Desert, California. You must call the LA BBB at [protected] or visit www.la.bbb.org. The address for Guthy-Renker is: Guthy-Renker, 41-550 Eclectic Street, Suite# 200 - Palm Desert, CA 92260. Phone [protected]. That is all the information you need, plus the product name.

4) Keep trying until your voice is heard and something is done about the problem, small or large!

Thanks everyone, I hope this information helps!

Proactive did not work for my daughter. She has sensitive skin and it made her face red and did not help with acne. She started using the Citrus Clear organic products about two months ago, and her skin has gradually improved month over month. My husband uses Citrus Clear as well for his adult acne, and they both rave about Citrus Clear. After trying so many other acne products unsuccessfully including Proactiv +, it was relief to find something that actually works.

I ordered Proactiv in March of 2012 after seeing their TV add. I repeatedly told the lady over the phone that I just want to try it for right now and if I like it I will become a repeating member. She continued to tell me she understands but that she prefers me to become a member to receive it every month because it will work better. I had to keep telling her, "No!" Two months later I receive a statement from my bank stating that I went negative in my account and was being charged for it. Come to find out Proactiv charged me twice and I have not received any product! So then I call to see what was going on and why I was continued to be charged and the next lady on the phone said I was a "valued member." So I cancelled. It is now August 2012 and they are still charging me for something I never wanted in the first place! DO NOT EVER BUY FROM THIS COMPANY! THEY WILL CONTINUE TO TAKE YOUR MONEY! EVEN AFTER YOU TELL THEM TO STOP!

ordered the proactiv product through phone. they kept on charging my credit card . I sent them back their product for 2 months they claimed that they didn't receive it. When they told me to fax the proof of shipment receipt to them, they gave me a number that doesn't work. When i called back to tell them, i gave them the tracking number and finally they told me the truth that they did receive it. they said they would give me back my money on my credit card, it has been another 2 months and i still haven't received my money. Order proactiv solution at your own risk, it ruins your skin, it sucks. Don't even try it because when it comes to refund, they will not be willing to return money! This has been dragging from june 2011 till now end of nov 2011 still nothing .

I was just at the castleton square mall, an the man at the kiosk was so rude, and very unprofessional. He almost knocked me down, while i was holding my 6 month old daughter. Not only that, he was not in dress code and was on his cell phone at work. He did not even look like he worked for Proactiv. I love there products but never will I buy any products from this location again.

WORST company ever. i am disgusted that ive spent 6 hours over the last 2 days for charges made to my account that i did not even know about, causing my account to be overdrawn and have overdraft fees. and they will only fix this via fax, not having a fax machine meant spending more time and money doing this at kinkos. they make me sick. i hate them and wish they would all go to jail for being horrible people.

I ordered proactive and I wanated to return it, the mall kios I purchased it at told me he was not able to take returns, not sure why. He gave me a card for customer service and that I should speak with them. I did call them and I had no luck. When I purchased the product there was no problem with them taking the money, but now that I want my money back no one wants to be bothered. All I have to say is unbelievable. NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY FROM THIS RIDICULOUS COMPANY. They are all phony sales people who smile in your face and try to sell you overpriced skin care.

PROACTIV is a SCAM!.*** Proactive is a Scam *** they charge you $29.95 every month plus shipping of $10 plus tax of $10 and you only get one kit. On the third month other $50. plus $29.95 every month for the next two months for one kit you have to use for 3months. So you are paying a total of $109.85 for 3months supply than again other $109.85 for other 3months. DO NOT BUY once they have a hold of your credit card #, they will take out and not ask. I paid $220. for two kits. When I called to complain all he kept saying was, "Sorry" but we don't care. I will never use them again so PLEASE don't buy!

Proactiv Fraud

Proactiv Solution will make fraudulent withdrawals from your bank account whenever they feel like it. Yes, I know they say they send you a shipment every 3 months and you are required to pay, but Once you give them your card number you are subject to theft. doesn't matter if you pay your invoices they send you by check. They will say they never got it even while you hold the canceled check in your hand. The customer service department tells you one thing but then doesn't do it. They get away with stealing from consumers everyday. I was charged twice in 2 weeks (100.00) for shipments that were already paid for. Causing my bank account to be overdrawn then they tell me that after reviewing my complaint that they were not responsible for it. You took out 100.00 without me knowing therefore causing 2 checks to bounce, how can you say its not your fault?

Do not ever buy anything from Proactiv solution. They will then trace you and keep on charging you money from your credit card. Once you buy anything from their website, Even after you called them canceled. They still keep you personal information and still charge you money and keep on sending your their product. You can never get rid of them. I have tell my credit card company to stop it.
That is the worst experience ever, ever, ever

When I ordered my first shipment, I told the CSR that I did not want automatic delivery and did not want my debit card to be used without my okay. The CSR (and I know it's her job and what she is required to say) proceeded to make it almost impossible for me to make this choice. I finally relented against my better judgment but said I wanted the automatic shipment to be postponed for about 3 months. In the meantime, I did use the product and it did work. A few weeks passed and I made the decision to buy the 60 days worth of treatment. I phoned the company and placed the order, but a few hours later, decided I would cancel the order and purchase something else here at a local store. I was told and I quote, "We cannot cancel the order because it has not processed yet, therefore, I cannot see it in the system and It's impossible for me to cancel it".

I asked, "If I called back the next day, could I cancel?" She said yes. I called the next day and I was told, again I quote, "We are unable to cancel this order because it is in process." Okay, so I can't cancel because it hasn't processed, and now I can't cancel because it has processed? After wrangling with the CSR for a while, telling her I knew it wasn't her fault and that I knew she was required to say these things, but how do I cancel? She, Stepford wife like, kept repeating the same thing over and over. I then requested a supervisor and was told, "Oh, she will just tell you the same thing." I said, "Fine, I want to hear it again." This, after the original CSR told me that I could send the product back but would lose my shipping and handling of about six bucks.

I was connected to the supervisor who, in fact and indeed, told me the same thing, although I was able to get a verbal promise that notes were put in the system that my shipping & handling would be refunded once I sent the product back. I will be interested to see how long it takes them to refund my money and my shipping & handling. I'm hoping that I will not have to file a claim with my bank to pry the money out of the vise like grip of this greedy and deceitful corporation. I had heard bad things about these folks and choose not to believe it but I now know that all that has been said is sadly true.
I refused the shipment on 8/3 as advised by a supervisor at Proactiv. She told me it was best to just refuse the shipment, don't receive it and then ship back, but refuse it. Which I did. I just got off the phone from another CSR who asked me for a tracking number, which of course I did not have since I had refused the shipment. I was then told it would be 6 to 8 weeks before I could hope to see any refund from the company because I have no tracking number. Today is the 20th of Aug. I very calmly told her, I know it's not your fault, and I'm not angry at you but, I then explained the Kafkaesque working of their "order taking", asked who I should appeal to in the company to get my money back sooner and again, I'm not angry at you but I have to tell you I think Proactiv's policies are very close to fraud! She then told me that she would refund my money then and there and it would be about 5-6 working days before I received it. Oh, and she did refund my s/h only after I reminded her that the prior CSR had assured me that notes were put into the system. These people are not to be believed! Mostly they just want you to give up and go away, don't do it. Keep fighting.

And that's not all. They sell your information (cell phone, name, address, cc info, cc security code) to PROTBERRYHEALTH which in turn will "order" their trial product for $0.99 after which they continue to charge you whenever they feel like it. See a connection between those idiots and Proactiv Solution's way of handling your order? Well I'm sure that these two scammers are connected and share customer information. I have since closed my CC account and got refunded for those charges by my bank.

Be wise and use a unique CC number that your bank can issue for you so you can order Proactiv. If you really must order that product, be safe doing it. It almost sounds like "use a condom" speech given to a teenager, but this is no joke. They stole my info. You could be next.

Proactiv unable to return

I cancelled my account, but continued to receive products. Upon receiving I would refuse and return to sender. The last shipment that have, but since it was not returned within what they claim was 60 days than I still have the balance to pay. So I have to pay and than they will submit my product back to me, "to sell or give as a gift" per customer service.

Proactiv Internet Glitch about product

I recently ordered the 5 piece proactive kit of the 4 FL OZ face solutions and when i placed the order online it stated that it was only $29.90 plus tax with free shipping for the 4 FL OZ bottle. so i placed the order and they took out the appropriate fee's. The next month (October 2009), they took out an additional $29.90 out of my bank account and stated that when i signed up, i ordered a 2 month supply (which apparently was the 4 FL OZ bottle) and their website stated it was $29.90 per month (which it didnt at the time). So i called and spoke to a rep @ proactive who states that i am correct and their website didnt mention this at the time and they have gotten many complaints about this, and have even been threaten with law suites from angry customers. They didnt offer to give me my money back, and basically told me to join the law suite that would be coming. The moral of the story... i heard it from the reps mouth @ proactive himself, to Never order their product online as there are always glitches and it automatically enrolls you in their club so they can get more $$

Proactiv fraudulent credit card charge

I was charged twice for the same shipment. They claimed that since I cancelled the autoship (which they asured me I could do after the first order), the original shipment was supposed to have cost twice of the advertised charge. This was never at any time disclosed to me when I made my order. How can a company claim for more than the advertised cost? In other words, they defrauded me.

Proactiv rip off

I purchased a trial size proactive kit for my Son in December of 2008 Well, they never told me that they would charge my debit card $50.00 every month after that. I canceled in January 2009 and told them I didn't want the product anymore, It took six weeks to get a credit to my account. Well, six months later I get another package from proactive, this time I get overdrawn on my account $30.00 plus the $50.00 for the product. Apparently instead of canceling my account they put it on hold for six months then started re-sending their product. I came unglued. When I called again they said they would credit my account in another six weeks but they wouldn't do anything about the overdraft fee.

They never tell you about the nice monthly fee or that when you cancel they may decide to put you on hold and start sending again whenever they choose. This is not only deceptive but downright Illegal in my opinion. People need to know that if they order something from proactive they are signing up for a monthly RIP-OFF!

I as well as many others was misled into purchasing this product on-line thinking I was purchaasing a one time trial package. Then I began having money deducted on a monthly basis from my paypal account. I called and complained and recieved nothing but poor customer service. I feel that I was misled and then basically told to deal with it. The hoops and circles I would have to go through to get refunded was ridiculous and not worth my time. A more satisfying approach I feel is to spread the word to other consumers on how bad there service is.

Folks, under threat of legal action pursuant to the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act, it is amazing what can be done. All of a sudden those who stated that they couldn't refund anything without the product being sent back, 60-day refund policy, etc., was BS. They IMMEDIATELY refunded the money to my credit card AND repaid the shipping expense. It should not have to come to threatening legal action, but if you know what you are doing, you can stop companies like this in their tracks. They are large corporations who would have to spend $300 an hour for an attorney to defend a small claims court filing of $100 - $200. Educate yourself about the law and your legal rights...it goes a long ways towards ending these deceoptive practices.

I am having the exact same experience. I specifically purchased a trial pack with no obligation to continue. Now another $30.00 debit just came out of my account, and when I called to cancel, they told me that I still owe $67.00. These people are no better than a junkie who would snatch an old lady's purse. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BANKING OR CREDIT CARD INFO!

ha they did the same thing to me! 3 kits which I sent all 3 of them back. They sent me to collections on them too. They gave me credit for one so they get 2 free kits and im out almost $200.00. How is that fair? Also I bought Procraptive from a keeoks thing in the mall. The girl charged me twice. They wouldnt refund that either. Funny thing I called the next day and told them. They said "no sorry we cant give you the money". What the heck would I need 2 starter kits for purchased with in 30 sec of each other? And the girl didnt give me my reciept either!
So PROCRAPTIVE is a rip off no matter where you buy it!

Proactiv Proactiv charge TAX on S/H

Proactiv Solution charged SALES TAX on Shipping & Handling! Other companies apply sales tax on products only. I didn't pay attention to their Invoice till I was being laid off in Feb this year and I've been paying their bills for at least 2 years!
Their club price is lower than you buy from booths, so you usually will buy from them via shipments.
$39.95 (3-piece kit) + $5.95 (shipping & handling) + $4.48 (CA sales tax 9.75%) = $50.38 (total charged to my credit card)
I talked to their customer service rep. and she also felt it's odd to apply sales tax on Shipping & Handling. Then I wrote to Proactiv to spot this out and on May 19, 2009 they replied as below:
"we encourage feedback from our customers as it helps us improve the quality of products and services we deliver. I will forward your suggestion on to the appropriate corporate department."
BUT 4 months later, no change!
I'm here to request someone to push them NOT TO apply sales tax on Shipping & Handling. They should refund all those unreasonable charges to all their customers!

NoMore Wells Fargo,
I looked into this issue for you and it turns out we are required by some states (like California) to charge sales tax on shipping and handling. If you're concerned about the products you've received or aren't 100% happy with the results you've gotten using Proactiv, remember there's always the 60-day money back guarantee.
Hope this helps clear things up for you.
Thanks,
Kathryn (Proactiv USA)

Proactiv scam

Beware of using the vitaclear through Proactive acne solutions. They offer you free 30 day trial with the option to cancel at any time. When I canceled through Proactiv it did not cancel the vitamins because they are a "seperate" business. I had to call a seperate number to cancel after receiving another 2 months worth that I didn't want. In order to return the product for a refund I had to deduct the cost they paid to ship it to me plus the cost for me to ship it back to them. I figured it wasn't worth it so I kept them making them aware I would never use their company or recommedn them to anyone again. Their business practices are sneaky in my opinion. A month later they debited my account again for another $34.30! I called to inquire why and they said they shipment I had recieved (that I didn't even want) was actually $68.60 and so they split the payments over a 2 month time frame. NO one told me that either when I had called originally. Asked for a supervisor but one was not available. This company is a scam!

Proactive is a real scam. I just had an experience just like the previous person. Don't ever give them your credit card number as they will keep charging it without sending you anything. Once I discovered that they were charging me, I called them up to find out what the problem was. I spoke to a nasty woman who goes by the name Savanna. She told me that my account was closed in February 2009, seven months ago but I owe them 45 dollars. I told them that I do not owe anything but I'm ready to pay what ever I they think I owe. She then said, ok if you make the payment we will send you a package and all that you need to do is to send it back. I said I don't need their package. On a second though, I told them, send it to me and I will through it away. I'm waiting to see that package. They are a scam! Don't buy their products . . . they don't even work so no need to even do the trial offer!

GRC*PROACTIV SOLUTION, [protected], US, USD - 74.95 2, 489.59 which charged from my credit card $74.95.
I have never order anything from that company and I don't know why this company charge me.

I am a retired nurse and I am ashamed to have the two doctors who started this company in the same medical field as me. I had to cancel my credit card. but before the change went trough I was charged for a kit I sent back plus 13.00. two bad the people that have been traumatized by this company don't get together and sue them. pam

Proactiv worst customer service

Proactiv has the absolute customer service I have ever dealt with. I used Proavtiv a few years back and it worked and was a quality product. So recently I decided to try it again. I think in order to cut costs they not only made the bottles they come in complete crap (the little plastic connecter on the top breaks on every single bottle and then the top doesn't shut and the product dries out), but I think they cut corners on the formula as well. I might as well have been washing my face with bar soap for all the good it was doing. So after a couple of months I gave up and started using something else (cheaper and sold in a store, not like this shady daytime tv infomercial crap) and it actually worked. I was busy with work and wasn't exactly sure when my membership was up, so when I saw the charge on my card one morning I immediately called to cancel. The girl on the phone told me that they wouldn't give me a refund until I received the product and sent it back. Now, I am positive that it hasn't gone out yet. No company anywhere sends a product out while the charge is still pending on your credit card. That's why they always charge you a couple of days before, right? Besides the fact that it takes the product 3 weeks after they charge me to get to me. There is no way that it takes that long. It's that they don't send it out right away. Anyway, I asked to talk to her manager and she was like "I can get you an account supervisor" which doesn't sound like a manager to me and when I asked if it was the equivalent all she would say is "that's her title". So I imagine now I am being transferred to the girl who sits next to her who has no more authority than she does. And I could tell as soon as this woman got on the phone-her name was Karen-that she was told beforehand not to give me anything. Sticking together against the rude customer and all of that. So she immediately tells me the same thing-that I have to wait to return the product to get my money back. So basically I have to wait over a month before they will refund me. To top it all off, she was rude, condescending, unprofessional, patronizing, defensive, inarticulate, and threatened to hang up on me. Even if this weren't $45 dish soap I wouldn’t buy their product just so as not to have to deal with the high school drop outs that this company hires for "customer service".

Very, very shady company--should have realized this before ordering. Their website is deliberately circular and confusing to navigate. There is no way to terminate accounts online or even instructions as to how to go about doing so. They "cancelled" my account, but actually didn't, then continued to send out unwanted shipments charged at a higher, non-member price--which means that they received the cancellation! They are very unethical. I haven't experienced this kind of deceit since the notorious Columbia House CD club. Please avoid this company. Toxic ingredients aside, their customer service is terrible.

I had tried proactiv as I had a flare up of acne for a few months, needless to sya it did not work.. So i never bothered to reorder.. to my surprise i got charge with a second order, no notification and am now expected to pay shipping and handling for both ways if i was to return the product! I have sent numerous emails complaining and stating what I was, and one would think that $15 would not be a big thing to resolve but its been hell! I get the same script, irrelevant to my email as a reply. I have recently emailed head office about their customer service, so i will see what comes out of it.

I wanted 2 order ProActiv, but googled "ProActiv Complaints" 1st & saw all these negative reviews, but I decided to go on the website & see 4 sure if ProActiv really tells u about shipping u more products & to my surprise it did! So, I thought 'I can place this order, cuz it's telling me plain as day...whatever' Right before I submitted my order there's a paragraph saying something like you'll get shipp. every 90 days a 3 month supply for the MONTHLY price of 19.95 (shipp.$8)So I would assume thats EVERY month that I would be billed, but shipped every 3 months. So, I decided to call the website # online & claify this before placing my order & the women answered my question right away & said "yes, u r billed 3 monthy payments, basically so your not paying $60 at once- unless u want to of course. But this starts out as payments" So she was asking me my info. & I was letting her take a little bit of my order, while I asked questions (cuz I luv to ask questions) & she explained the whole "replenishment program" throughly telling me 'Ance is not curable & will come back if u stop using the product so thats why they continue to ship (which is something I never knew, I thought it was curable; silly me)& I'm an honest person; so I told her about going online & reading ppl being charged w/o knowing it...then she said b/c I gave her my email, I would get a e-mail confirmation telling me the order being shipped @ about the "replenishment" & my invoice when I get this in the mail, would actually say the exact dates of the next shipp. so I would know a month ahead of time when I'd be billed & she said I could CANCEL at any time even BEFORE the next shippment so I did NOT have to get the 90-day supply if I didn't want 2 & they have a 60-day $ back gaurentee (sp?) which I spent lots of $ buying over-the-counter products which I CANNOT return! bla, bla..so I let her take my order & I think the most annoying thing was, even though she explained the "replenishment"; recieving future shipp.in the beginning of the call...she told me again after she took my card # & Again at the end of the call, so I'm thinking, "if I already know about it lady, u don't need to tell me 3x's." which I said nicely (cuz I'm not going to be mean about it, u know, just make a joke)..so she tells me that she HAD to tell me twice! She said "legally" they HAVE to tell u before & after taking your card! Or they cant process your order & they'd have to cancel & she gave me the cust. service # at the end of the call. I wrote it down to have on hand..& guess what?...I got that email confirm. 2 days later & w/in a week, I got my Proactiv w/ an invoice telling me the exact dates of my next shipp.! so I called cust. service & had them put my next shipp. on hold untill I'm ready to call back to order more (2 see how well this works). Which the women in cust. service was nice w/ me & said she understood & put it on hold & reminded me about the 24/7 skin care advisors, if I have any questions about the products.(Which I would never have that option w/ any store brand products)So, I'm thinking are these ppl 'online' NOT reading the whole website (& maybe only reading what they want to read, aka, 'selective reading and hearing') or maybe your just talking to reps. from other countries who dont know how to speak english well, & u cant understand them so u say "ok" to everything...I'm confused...I only know 3 other ppl that use proactiv & upon questioning...they had nuttin bad to say cuz they read everything, understood what they were being told, paid attention...bla, bla. So I'll see how well this works for my face. I just dont like ppl talking trash when this info. was in my face & was told over & over about future shipp. and had it all laid out! I just set up my acct. online and reviewed everything on the website.

I believe Proactiv chose not to process my return until I called them to follow up. I'm guessing that's illegal. I contacted Proactiv for a return, and sent my product back on 8/25/10. When I contacted them 11/6/10 because I still hadn't received a refund, they said they had no record of receiving the product. When I gave them the tracking number, they looked it up, and agreed they had, indeed received the product, and then processed my refund. I honestly believe they knew they had received my product return, and were hoping I would either forget about the refund or not have a tracking number to prove it had been received. These people are seriously, seriously shady. And they were rude, to boot!

LONG story short, they NEVER mentioned that there would be an automatic delivery w/ automatic debit set up after the trial version. They continued to ship product out and BILL ME after I "cancelled." When I called, they said that my debit card was removed from the system but my account was never closed. I was told to keep the last box or to "do whatever I wanted with it." After hearing that, I put it aside and assumed (after talking to about 10 different reps) all was taken care of. Boy, was I wrong. I started getting bills saying I had late payments and such. I called again and they said that since it had been past 60 days, I had to pay for the box I didn't even want. Even after I explained that not *one* of their employees mentioned the 60 day time limit, they still told me there was nothing they can do. I have sent them payments of $10 increments only to find out they "haven't received" any of them. I have been on hold for over 30 mins after finding out my outstanding balance is about to be turned in to collections! I hope this company falls to pieces and I will do whatever I can to discourage people from using their ### product! P.S. "doctors, " you aren't supposed to exfoliate every f*cking day!

Bought 19.95 special and did not notice automaic renewal - ok. After speaking with representative they said $33.38 charge and then it ended. I cancelled my account. Then they charged another $40 to my account saying it was actually $73.

They absolutely and blatantly lie!

I was a ProActiv club member, but I would find success in the product, but I would need to stop using it after a few months, then restart. I was shipped a product that I didn't need, so I called to cancel my membership and ship the product back. However, I still received bills. I called and spoke to someone in customer service. She gave me conflicting dates on when calls were made versus when product was returned. The way she explained it to me, as long as I CALLED within 60 days to cancel, I was fine. Based on her dates, I did exactly that but they will not take a $57.94 charge off of the account. I was only told that I needed to ship the product back by writing RETURN TO SENDER on the box. NEVER was I given a due date. The CS rep even told me it would take "several" weeks for the product to arrive at the warehouse. I have family who were thinking of trying this product, but I have already given them another product to try, and told them that ProActiv has HORRIBLE customer service, and it is not worth buying ANYTHING from them. Some family members are canceling their memberships because they see the problems I have gone through. The worse part is that I cancelled my membership before when my face reached it's best level, so I was going to eventually need ProActiv again. Now, I will use ANYTHING before I spend my money with them EVER AGAIN.

I thought I was doing something nice for my daughter in law and now these rip off artists will not refund my money for a package she never received. They cant give you a tracking number because "There is not a tracking number available for our shipments since they are shipped in bulk. If you requested rush shipping the shipping time is 5-7 business days from the time it leaves our warehouse." WOW that is not what their website says
Their customer service is some of the worst I have EVER encountered

Proactiv attempt to return unopened product

The "guaranteed refund" is a farce.

I purchased the product from a kiosk at Lakeforest Mall in Gaithersburg, Md. When I looked the box, it turned out that the product has benzoyl peroxide, which I cannot use. I called Proactiv for a refund. They said I had to call the kiosk owner. I had to go back to the mall to get the phone number off the kiosk. The kiosk owner said they would not give a refund because it was over 60 days, even though the product was unopened. I also called Proactiv, who also refused to give a refund.

This is a long problem with https://www.proactiv.com. I ordered $99 purchase gift for a friend and then https://www.proactiv.com continued to charge me for another 3-month supply order three months after my first order using my account with them on my Master card. I talk to my credit card to get my money back, but I could never get anything back. Now https://www.proactiv.com sent me to a collection center to collect $99. Hope that all people out there read this and stop buying their stupid product as a gift.

We have had trouble with the way your company handles the financial aspects of payments. We pay and yet get at least 2 late notices. I can prove when my bank checks are delivered, and NO other people I pay online have such a problem, so that leads me to gather that it must be on your end. For example my bank says payment was received on Sept 28...yet you did not process it until Oct 29..? why the month long drag in time, while we are getting late notice after late notice.
2) My wife just spoke with a guy named Charlie. He sold her 4 4oz bottles of cleanser which was 51.80...now shipping was 7. 79.
She had a code from an email139638 which will give 20$ off of a 40$ order. The total then with shipping was to be $37.79. I just looked up my bank statement and see a charge for 59.79...can somebody please explain the difference? why would you have promotional discount codes but the discounts are not applied? We called again and got 2 more explanations as to why that happened...what are we to believe. I always go to what can't lie, the numbers...as it stands the charge is 59 dollars not the 37 it should be. Our acct # is040593170. We have been customers for over 10 years. I can tell you that as a business person myself, I would stay away from business practices like these. You have a very good product that works but maybe it is time to re-tool the business strategy. It is not building good trustful consumer relations when you tell someone they will be charged x amount, then when they see their actual charge it is much higher than expected, and we have to wait to get back money you were not supposed to take in the first place. I would like to talk to the CEO or CFO sometime tomorrow., to see if we can come to a lasting comfortable, equitable solution to this constant trouble. We have to say we love the product but your service to loyal and long time customers such as us is terrible. We were actually told to just order when the specials come out on the internet... After over ten years of faithful patronage to your company you would think we would get some kind of little perk as a small "thank you" for our loyalty and confidence in your product...To me it is not good to give a customer any type of bad service. Good customers are hard to find...even harder to keep, but well worth it in the long term. We don't want to wander, we would like to stay loyal but I would like to speak with someone about this. My cell is [protected] (Dave Livelli) you can call me anytime after 4 pm tomorrow night. I apologize for feeling the need to bring this to you but I thought it is something you should be aware of and hopefully deal with and correct.
Thank you for you time,
Dave Livelli

My son tried Proactive for about a year and it didn't help very much. I was told to be patient, and I was, however, a year is a very long time not to see results.
I started noticing that the info comercials have only older people on them, no adolescents. They do not show it working for teens with hormonal imbalances, and major acne.
Proactive knew I was buying it for my 13 year old son, and said it was perfect to start using it when a teen. IT DID NOT WORK! And then they would not take back my last shipment that I did not want. They said it was against their policy to help me out. I even talked to a supervisors, supervisor. Unless they were just saying I was.
I do not trust them and will never buy anything from Guthy Renker again!

I have called Proactive customer service six time in an attempt to cancel my subscription. After the first time I called to cancel I received another package and was told it had already been ordered to be shipped to me. This package was returned unopened within days of delivery and after a while I was told my account was zero. This was several months ago!
Two months ago out of the blue I received another package! This package was again returned. Yesterday I received a past due notice for $98.84!
I recommend if want to try this product buy it a Kiosk at the mall, I am having a tough time canceling my subscription and discovered many complaints of Proactiv sending customers to collection agencies. DO customers have any recourse?

Clarification: The product was bought from a vending machine. "Reading the receipt" would not have made a difference. The receipt did not have contact information for the vending machine owner. To my knowledge, the vendor was ProActiv, not the vending machine owner.

It's the same as if you bought a bottle of Coke from a machine on an out-of-state trip? If it turned out that the bottle had mold in it, so you could not drink it, would you expect to make another trip out-of-state to track down the vending machine owner? Or would you expect the Coca-Cola company to fix the problem?

Proactiv refer-a-friend scam

Proactive is now promoting Refer-A-Friend where customers are offered a "referral fee" when they refer a friend who is new to Proactiv. The new friend receives a free starter kit for the cost of S&H. Today, five ebay sellers are charging potential customers to collect their email address and refer and refer it to Proactiv as a new Friend, and collect their referral fee.
When brought to the attention of Proactive, they said they have no control over their customers and if they want to scam potential customers using Proactiv's promotions as their tool, that wasn’t their problem.
I asked Proactiv to at least go to Ebay and type in Proactiv Coupons and review the auction to determine if they were in violation of the Refer A Friend promotion. Again, they made it clear they didn’t care how they got the new customers, and if someone was stupid enough to pay for a free promotion then Proactive and the customer selling the promotion are ahead.
I was then told if I didn’t like Proactiv’s resolution to take it to the next level – Guthy-Renker – and the call was ended.
