Pls if you received any letters under Pressle &Pressler or the following collections in the same building as the following: Midland, Paraside and New Century pls reply & write back ASAP! (with in 30 days or they will put a JUDGEMENT against your credit 20irs for something you don't owe! They have threated me w/jail if I don't fill out ppwk. of what I own, etc (trying to put liens !) and they have no proof that you owe any of the debts! Write back ASAP and ask for the original contract of the i.e. credit card or debt! They don't have it! and they lost the CLASS action lawsuit against them and they are same bugging me! They mostly go after NJ and NY people, they could spread out b/c they lost in NJ! I gope this helps anyome! from Manda91103

The companies you listed buy 'bad debt' for pennies on the dollar, gambling that they can get the 'debtor' to pay the full amount owed. The problem is, in 99.9% of the time, the 'debt buyer' doesn't have proof to backup anything they claim. That's why they resort to illegal threats like 'putting you in jail' (It's not a crime to owe a debt.), or putting a lien on your house, property, etc. (They can't do this without first going to court and wining their case against you). These illegal tactics are used to scare someone to make a payment over the phone, thereby CREATING an agreement to pay THEM where one didn't exist before. Once they get you to pay, they don't have to prove anything. There are laws (FDCPA) that protect people against these illegal tactics. Unfortunately, most people aren't aware of these laws. Debt buyers know that people aren't aware of these laws and purposely use that fact to their advantage. Some debt buyers will contact someone with the same last name, in the same general area as the actual person they are looking for and harass THEM for a debt that they don't even owe. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS and you can beat dirty debt buyers.
