PODS Enterprises poor costumer service/ inflexible policies

After paying PODS to house my articles since October 2011 for $270 a month, I discovered the company will has no policy (in fact the rep- Jason seemed to relish informing me) that they would charge me an entire additional month rent on top of the $107 drop off and pick up charge although because I was asking for delivery the day account would be billed. I indicated that since PODS has made in excess of $5, 400, they might create a policy which allows flexibility in the last payment if it is within a certain timeframe. Jason indicated I was moving somewhere where that flexibility was not applicable. I hadn't realized there was discrimination based on geographical location. Then, after indicating I would let them store my stuff until I ran out the full month of May and part of June, I asked for a confirmation of delivery and was told by Jason that this massive company which can produce confirmation information for payments, doesn't produce confirmations for delivery dates. You just have to check the website. I found the rep, Jason, easily irritated with my questions. I find the policy of inflexibility about delivery dates and costs to be a bad business policy. I find the fact that their system, which can produce confirmations for payments and contracts but now for drop off and deliveries, incredulous in today's society. And nor could the rep., Jason send me an e-mail to confirm he and I even had this conversation. Just check the website, were the only instructions he would give. DON'T believe the hype. The hassle of getting your articles back isn't worth the bad business decisions and arrogant company reps. I don't even know what condition my articles will be in when I get them back. Support businesses with costumer oriented business practices-leave PODS alone.

PODS Enterprises delivery of goods

I will never use PODS again! We negotiated to have our household goods moved from Florida to Arizoa thinking, yes it's a little more expensive than doing it ourselves, but they will get it to us safe and sound. Someone forgot to mention to PODS that getting it to you on the date they said they would was paramount to the consumer! They delivered it to us to load in Florida on time, they took it away on time, and they CERTAINLY drained our bank account of the money to pay for their services on their schedule. But when they e-mailed me 2 days before they were to deliver saying they'd be a week later delivering than contracted, it threw us into a tailspin. NOTHING for our rental homefor a week? Not even a towel to bathe with or bed to sleep on? I don't think so! And then when we found out our stuff was going to only be 35 miles away the day it was supposed to be delivered, we called the dispatcher there to tell her we'd be driving there in a U-Haul to get our stuff ourselves. Luckily this dispatcher was on the ball and realized that PODS had done us wrong and found our stuff and delivered it to us one day late. One day late we could live with! PODS customer service offered us $75.00 restitution for our troubles which we politely declined as they want you to sign a privacy release to not mention their 'generosity' or talk about the PODS problem or restitution. Not! EVERYONE needs to know that PODS takes your money, then fails to deliver when they say they will. Even my letter to the CEO went unanswered -- just another call from Customer Service admitting there might have been some 'discrepancies' and they apologize for the inconvenience. Put the apology in writing PODS! THAT is all most folks want.

It sound like a mistake and one that was rectified by the dispatcher as quickly as possible. So why do you feel that PODS did you so wrong? Maybe you are over reacting and acting like a child, ever consider that? How often do you find yourself complaining about others? Calm don and understand that things happen, PODS doesn't like problems and we all understand you don't either. ### on the internet about something like this is really childish. I would have taken the $75 because I'm not stupid.

PODS Enterprises pods - this company sucks and employees are unprofessional

I got a response from a a lady named [protected]@podssocial.com to send details of my account and then I did follow up with this lady after a month and she assured that she is going to talk with her executive resolution team to resolve my issues with pods. After few days I got an e-mail from pods saying they will not do anything so I believe this lady is completely scam with no value for her words. Sending e-mails to her is completely waste of time and the result of my communication with pods was waste of my four months and my case is still hanging in dark.

PODS Enterprises hijacked my stuff

I called to get my stuff delivered. I live 60 miles from where the POD is stored but they want to charge me $720 to deliver my stuff. They are holding my stuff for ransom! The issue, as they explained it to me, is that I live in a territory served by a different franchisee than the one where the POD is stored. So to move the container they have to transport it to the other franchisee ($$), charge me one month's rent!, and then charge a delivery fee. Why can't the franchisee who has my stuff deliver it? I have no idea. Corporate says they have no control over what the franchise owners do. That is complete BS. I don't believe it for a second.

PODS Enterprises - beware of weight limit

Beware of the new interstate agreement form they ask you to approve. It has recently been changed to specify a maximum weight in ANY of the container sizes you rent. PODS Enterprises customer service

Ok so I have been sitting in my living room in Florida on lawn chairs for the past five days. Why you ask well this wonderful company PODS seems to be unreliable. For the past six months I have had all my worldly belongings in storage win PODS while I make my transition from Massachusetts to Florida. Of course I had made PODS aware of our move date and they assured me that everything would be delivered on time. Well this was just not the case today I received half of my belongings nearly a week late. It gets better a broken TV and mouse droppings in the new couch oh what a wonderful service. Then try to call this dog and pony show for anything besides a monetary gain on their end and well let’s just say good luck. I’ll give it to them the company is a great idea but perhaps they should re-invest some of that money in customer service.

PODS Enterprises damage

When PODS delivered my unit i opened it to find everything had been flipped and damaged. I made over 10 calls to Corporate and.that many more to the local idiot who ran the location. They did nothing to fix the damage. The commercial does not show what happens to your unit once it arrives to there warehouse. It is moved by unskilled forklift drivers throughout there facility. Ever see forklift drivers with an unbalanced load?

PODS Enterprises dont use them

Dont do it, If you want to store somthing in your driveway or just move from drive way to driveway it might be OK but do not expect them to deliver as promised (1 weeks notice) in your second location.
We asked upfront for our POD to be delivered to a pemanent storage space. Knowing that the pod cannot be left on site as it would block other peoples storage we arranged to pay for demirage for 2 hours while we unload it. The local PODS yard is 2 hours away from this storage space. When we went to have it delivered we made the big call only to find out that they wanted 2 weeks notice (not 1) and the driver would not wait. He was going to deliver the Pod and leave it onsite for 2 weeks. After over 20 calls we are being told that there is nothing they can do. Not even on a date that they choose. It is what it is. So now it looks like we are going to have to pay our storage space folks money to store the pod while we wait for the Pods people to come back and pick it up

PODS Enterprises don't use them

Moving from Virginia to Colorado, hired PODS to store and move. We followed through with our contract paying monthly for storage on time. When came time to deliver POD set it up for Fri April 9th they told us someone called in sick had no idea when our POD would be delivered. Now we feel our POD is being held HOSTAGE. We are in an empty house for the last two nights with an 8 yr and 10 month old on the floor. Had already gave up hotel. We have had the run around for the last two days and still do not have our POD delivered! Of course they all can't help and doing the best they can, it's BULL CRAP! NEVER USE THEM.

PODS Enterprises don't even bother calling

First I went online to get an estimate. Pretty easy for Uhaul and other moving companies. PODS site said I had to call so I did.

I got the big sales pitch about how great PODS is and she wouldn't answer my questions. I asked her very politely I might ad to please stop the sales pitch and just give me an estimate and she continued with the sales pitch as if she had to read it from a card. I finally got an estimate. I told her I could not afford it but thank you. She got rude and started grilling me about how else was I going to move that far, who else gave me estimates, etc. I asked her to remove my name and phone number from their database and I did not want telemarketing calls or for my info to get into others hands. Through all this she continued to interrupt. I said thank you and goodbye and as I hung up I heard her continuing to talk. The whole experience was absurd.

PODS Enterprises paid 3x my quote

Pods sounded like a great idea. It was cheap, the delivery was even on time (I feel so lucky). My problem was that they quoted me around $400 for delivery and 8 months of storage while I was out of the country on a foreign exchange. Then I started getting monthly bills, and I just figured I was paying it off in payments, but when I called them to double check, oh no, I was getting a $194 dollar bill every single month. So that is close to $1600 in storage fees. Completely not worth it. When I called to ask them why I was paying more then they quoted me, the rep. Said, "oh that happens to a lot of people when they sign up online, they just get confused. "
I still have 6 months till I get back to my furniture inside my pod. Lets hope it's not all completely destroyed like the other reviews indicate.

PODS Enterprises bait and switch!

I reserved on the web site for a Pod to be delivered and to store my personal belongings for three months. That is what I signed up for, but not what I got. Everything was kosher until Pods billed me $244 for a second month. I called and they pull out some "addendum" that I must have clicked through stating that I would be charged monthly. I looked at the final page of the reservation. I did a screen capture because I did it on my iPad (and can't directly print from it). There is no mention of a recurring charge on the screen capture. Now after the fact they are adding on this addendum. Then they have the audacity to tell me NO one complains about their deceptive practices. They ever hear of the work Google? I have found hundreds of complaints. The company is based on lies and deception and hidden charges. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!

PODS Enterprises misinformation about services

I chose Pods because I didn't want to pack and unpack a moving truck for each part of the move. I was told that Pods would deliver the container when I moved to my new location even if it wasn't in their service area. Now, I'm ready for delivery and they don't deliver to my area. In fact, they told me to get a moving truck and pick up my stuff in Ottawa. My delivery area is just over an hour from Ottawa off the 401. They say they don't deliver all over. Setting up delivery has been very problematic and has taken several attempts. All calls go through a central answering service and are routed depending on the country. Then, they call the Pods location and relay messages to the customer. In my situation, they weren't able to reach anyone at the location on several attempts and left messages for them to call, which they didn't do. I've called again and was basically told too bad, get a truck. Then, was disconnected when I tried to book a pick-up time. Their ads and website say they deliver across North America. They don't and won't tell you that they won't get the Pod to you when it's time to deliver. I did ask, when I first called and was told they would get a common carrier if they didn't deliver to my area.

PODS Enterprises overcharged

I decided to go with PODS to move back east from San Diego instead of using the Upack trailer service that we used for the move to SD 4 years earlier. PODS was $100 more expensive, but the senior sales rep out of SD, Mark Carpenter, promised me 2 months of storage would be built into my total cost instead of the usual 1 month. The dropoff/pickup in SD was fine and on schedule, as was the delivery of our stuff. My problem came when they automatically charged my CC an additional $200.44 for a month of storage that was supposed to be included in our original cost. I called Mark and left voicemails first, with no return call. Then I called cuts service and cuts satisfaction departments. They refused to help and got snippy with me saying I already got a "great price." they finally deferred me to their "supervisor" to call me back. That turned out to be good old Mark Carpenter. When he finally called me back 2 weeks later, I had to refresh him on our detailed phone conversation after he asked, "who told you that you would get 2 months of storage." I calmly said, "You did, " before continuing with the details. He seemed to recall and said he'll take care of it. Now, 2 months later and many voicemails left, I've initiated a credit card dispute and reports to their corporate office and the BBB. This is such a scam and after reading other stories, it seems they will tell you anything to get your business. Do yourselves a favor and use one of the partial trailer Upack services. No hassles and one legit price!

PODS Enterprises awful service

As I type this I am sitting on a bare floor of my new house. PODS has just called me and told me they have to reschedule our delivery for three days. I scheduled this delivery date THREE MONTHS AGO and called several times the past week to ensure the delivery date was still set. PODS was supposed to call last night and confirm delivery time, never did. We knew at that point there was a problem and have been calling since 8:00 this morning trying to figure out what is going on. Can only talk to the HQ in FL, you cannot get in contact with ANYONE at the local distribution centers, PODS is not allowed to give you their contact info. The lady has the nerve to ask me to imagine the kind of day she is having having to call people on this delivery route and reschedule their delivery time. I wish I would have listened to the negative reviews and either paid for a legit moving company or driven a moving truck myself. I now have to spend the next three nights sleeping on a bare floor with no clean clothes, no cooking supplies, no furniture, with my 5 year old son and two dogs. PODS is doing NOTHING to rectify the situation, they say to save our receipts for any hotel or restaurant charges and they will reimburse us, yea right, I'm sure getting that money back will be a piece of cake. NIGHTMARE...DO NOT USE !

PODS Enterprises detroyed $1,700 worth of our posessions - moving and storage

We have a confirmed loss of a little over $1, 700 and an unconfirmed loss of priceless heir looms and gifts from family due to water, ice, and mold damage resulting from water entering our PODS container while moving from Los Angeles to Lake Tahoe. The insurance company (which we paid extra for through POD’s) has refused to respond to our inquiries, and will not allow us to initiate water tests on the container from an independent company. They have chosen to rely on the POD’s water test only – This is a clear conflict of interest and cannot be relied on since they have a vested interest in not being honest with the water test results. We have picture evidence of damage to our belongings, as well as images showcasing ice that had formed inside the POD and under boxes which caused all of the boxes and the items inside to freeze and stick to the floor. Additionally, we can provide a list of all items that were damaged along with pricing. POD’s clearly guarantees safe and weatherproof containers on their website, TV ads, and billboards.

Having browsed through the web in search of others who have been victimized by PODS, we realize that alone we cannot fight them, however, if we band together, we know we can not only fight, but win a large class action case. Therefore we are currently searching for a lawyer to represent our case and other victims who will join in our fight.

PODS Enterprises inaccurate delivery date

I had a move scheduled from Los Angeles to Philadelphia. I went with PODS, due to the promise of quick delivery and pick-up of the POD. When I ordered the POD, I was told that it would take 9 days to arrive in Philadelphia. I called on May 25th for Pick-up of the POD and was told that It would not arrive in Philadelphia until June 9th! Even if you allow no Sundays or holidays (Memorial day) I thought this seemed excessive. I called and informed them that I was quoted a time of 9 days and they proceeded to deny that they ever promised nine days. If I had known I would not be receiving my belongings until June 9th, I would have used U-haul and drove it myself. I will never use PODS again. I feel they are overpriced, have problems with the truth, and are slow. When I move back to LA, in 3 years, I will either U-haul everything or pay a little more and use Mayflower. At least Mayflower guaranteed a 5-6 days delivery and will move the stuff for you. Due to PODS' misrepresentation, my wife and I will go a week in a new home without our possessions. I would like to thank PODS for their (not-so) excellent service.

PODS Enterprises damaged good & delivery mayhem

The pods experience was less than desirable. The move from the east coast to the west coast resulted in a cracked tv screen (Which I packed very well). The truck driver in san francisco dropping off the container decided to bump the container with his truck to "push" it into place. This was crazy, but I assumed he knew what he was doing. He put a large gash in the pod and broke my tv. I put in a claim, which after 45 days, pods pretended the container had no damage and took no responsibility. The drivers, customer service people and lack of responsiveness from pods overall was terrible considering I spent over $3000 for the service. A new, better company needs to evolve with stronger customer service, coordination and insurance for crazy drivers who drop and bump your things around. Shame on pods for pretending the container had no damages. My photos prove it but they don't care. Beware of pods.

PODS Enterprises I am lucky they screwed up the 1st pod instead of the 3rd

My experience was infuriating after dealing with incompetent customer service, from both PODS and the supply company. All of whom can only apologize or tell you to cancel your order. Heres my story. I am planning a move from NY to Florida. There are 3 locations in NY that all required PODS (total of 4 PODS) These would then be combined and shipped to Florida. The first site was in Long island. I booked the appointment 20 days prior to delivery, and wanted morning delivery, and was told I that wouldn't be a problem. Pd first deposit, and delivery fees for 1 and deposit for 2nd POD, which was being delivered to 2nd location 4 days later.

10 days prior to the scheduled delivery went on line to PODS site, got phone # for moving supplies and ordered supplies with VERY SPECIFIC DATES. I had asked if the supplies could be shipped with the actual POD but was told no that supplies come from different location. I understood, then asked if they could ship to secondary address, was told no, they can only deliver to the address on PODS account. Understood, again I gave the required delivery date, and was told no problem. Famous last words. I ordered moving blankets, paper moving blankets; mattress covers on wed 4/20/2011 for deliver on following Friday 4-29-11. Supplies are shipped from the PODS sponsored supplier 4-22-11 and supposedly arrive 4-23-11 I say supposedly because I received FedEx email message that package had been delivered. Please note I am on vacation while this happens. I call PODS on Tuesday (first day back from vacation) to let them know there are no products at my address. They tell me they are sorry, BUT they can't help I should call the moving supply people, upon which the customer svc rep gives me the wrong phone # & company. I take 12min on phone with wrong company (10 min on hold, 2 min live human being) to figure out wrong number. Call back PODS am given different supplier number. Call supplier and alert them to problem. I am told it will take minimum of 3-5 days to do investigation. After which they will reship the goods. (Problem is POD is being delivered in 3 days) Flash-forward to Thursday, at 5:30 PM receive email with ETA deliver time 2:45pm to 5:45pm on Friday 4-29-11. I immediately call and speak to 2 PODS supervisors trying to resolve problems, both delivery time and moving supply, 1st says will call local office and see what can be done and call me back. This does not happen. Call Friday morning to check status, am told they cannot get in touch with trucks, so all they can do if follow the slated delivery schedule. I speak to another supervisor and explain the above facts, no supplies, late afternoon delivery. I ask if billing date can be moved back 1 week as I am unable to utilize the POD at this time. The response is, PODs is sorry but there is nothing we can do, I should just cancel the POD. At this point I cancel the POD, which miraculously is cancelled from the trucking route within seconds! (So much for not being able to get in touch with the truck.) I am also told now there is a cancellation fee as well as admin fee fo $195.00 Wait it gets better! The second supervisor Maria, who is handling the moving supplies says she will call back, which she does at 3:15PM on Friday after the ALL Pods have been cancelled. She would like to know if after the investigation is complete do I want the moving supplies re-shipped. The sad part is the concept is fantastic, if only execution wasn’t so terrible. On a good note there is a FANTASTIC moving service with competent people called Men on the Move. Spare yourself the aggravation and incompetence of PODS! It is definitely not worth the little money you may save.

PODS in Madison WI will not deliver my personal belongings to a storage facility after relocation by an employer. No where in the PODS agreement is it written that they will refuse to deliver the POD to a paved storage facility. When I asked for my money back they refunded all but $195! This is a SCAM! They did not follow thru on their end of the agreement but I am required to still pay! I want a full refund.

PODS Enterprises misleading pricing and fees

PODS is way too expensive and I won't use them again.

If you have temporary storage needs do not call PODS unless you want to spend a small fortune. They gouge you with delivery fees, non-asphalt surface fees, monthly fees and finally pick up fees. They charge you an extra fee at every possible change they get.

It is sickening.

If you need storage do yourself a favor and go to BJs, SAMS, Costco or one of the big box stores and buy a 10x20 "garage in a box" for around $300. These are fairly easy to set up (you can do it alone in a couple hours) and they're very sturdy.

With the "garage in a box" you can store your stuff for as long as you want without having PODS sucking your checking account dry every month.
When you're done with the shelter, throw it away or give it away. You'll have saved yourself $100's or $1000's when it's all said and done.

NOW>>> IF YOU NEED TO MOVE... don't hire a POD! Google this too... they are very rough with the pods and will not honor insurance claims without a long drawn out fight.

Instead, go to www.uship.com and get bids on your move. You'll save yourself $1000's here too.

PODS and Carrie Ayers (from their collections dept) suck.

Update:

Pods has been jerking me around for months! the constantly harrassed me with daily phone calls and emails over a $49 pickup fee that I had previously negotiated off of the contract.

I stated posting on the internet about what a terrible company pods is. there's 100's of "pods sux" reviews already on the internet anyway.

So, pods emails me and asks me to sign a release saying I won't post about my issues with pods on the internet and they will refund $111 to me. I agreed and signed the release. months lateer I noticed they never refunded the money! I called and they said they refunded it. pods had 2 debit cards on file for my account. they knew one of the cards was invalid (it had expired) because they couldn't take the $49 pickup fee from it. I ended up paying the $49 pickup fee with my new debit card.

So, what does pods do? they refund the money to my expired debit card! they knew it wouldn't go through and therefore they'd end up not paying the refund. but, if I caight them, they could play dumb and pretend they thought they did the right thing. i'm glad I caught them. i'm sure they got away with this little scam 100's of other times.

Update by d0n
Feb 10, 2011 8:24 pm EST

I never signed an agreement. I never set foot in a POD store. Everything was done via the internet and telephone.

God help you if you refuse to pay any of their ridiculous fees!

They'll hound you to the ends of the earth. My debit card was cancelled due to fraud just before I scheduled the POD pick up. Pods picked up the container and then couldn't siphon the last $49 pick up fee from my debit card because it was no longer active.

They emailed and called me numerous times a day. Everyday. They REALLY REALLY wanted their $49 pick up fee I guess. They do record all their calls because they played my call back for me while I was on the phone. Evidently, I did agree to the ridiculous $49 pick up fee.

I'm honestly surprised that PODS is still in business. I can't imagine they have an REPEAT business because their so expensive and are such incompetent ar$eholes. Eventually, they'll run out of new customers and go out of business.

Screw pods and that skank Carrie Ayers in their collections dept.

i had them ship my stuff for the 23 of OCT, its now Nov and they now tell me it wont reach me till NoV 10, do not under any circumstances use this company, not only did they not honor their side of the contract and left me hanging with an empty house while i wait for my stuff to arrive they wanted to charge me another 300$ even though they screwed up and wont even do anything to fix the situation or even to appease its customers...terrible company look elsewhere

Worse choice ever. I chose pods figuring it was a well established big company. HORRIBLE. Moved from PA to CA and traveled a month. Got to CA to find out my stuff was never shipped. After waiting days for them to review the call to see if it was my fault or there's (since they accused me first) they find out its there fault and the guy never put in for a ship date. It was supposed to be there the last week of August. I find out its not there Sept 5th they then tell me it won't be here till the 21st! So I incur 400 dollars in receipts for needed interview clothes then they had the nerve to charge me 265 in a monthly storage fee while its in transit because they are late. A week later their customer resolution center calls me back (after I spoke with three people who were oh so sympathetic to our situation) to then tell me they are only refunding me the storage fee they accidentally charged me and refund my clothing receipt but nothing more. So I asked...is it fair that from the 11th to the 21st I couldn't move into my place because I refused to pay rent to sleep on my floor and have no stuff to cook food with? Is it fair we have been couch crashing all over cali trying to save money because I still haven't been refunded? Is it fair they never offered us even a freaking hotel room? Is it fair I was offered a job making 50k a year to start Tuesday but I cannot because my official college documents are in my pod? And is it fair I may lose the chance for that job? How is there only "I'm so sorry this happened to you" a fair business way to compensate stressed out people who just moved? Business ethics? Customer service ethics? Apparently my worth is only my debit card. Now I have to wait another weekend with no full refund yet or answer to my additional refund until Monday because they cannot issue the refund I was already promised unless they know if I am getting more. I will laugh if they try to offer me a hundred bucks...take the transit cost of 3500 and pay me at least half since you got my stuff here half assed. I have submitted a complaint with the bbb and contacted the attorney general and I contacted pods media site with a forwarding letter to the CEO and bombed their Face Book site and I plan to continue warning people and writing their company and calling media until this is resolved. My entire adventure of moving cross country came to a hault when this happened. I'm down money and can't even start a new potential job and my bank is withering since the 650 promised can't be returned while they pursue further compensation.
