The Pep Boys retaliation

I am sure this complaint will probably never show up on the complaint board but I was reading all the complaints about Pep Boys and I just want the customers to know people who work for Pep Boys get treated just as worst if not even worsted than the customers and we have no one to complaint to oh yeah they say HR but HR only protect those who they like, those who are submissive and afraid of them HR is your worst friend in most work places Pep Boys HR is no different so to the many customers with complaints you have more of a chance of getting a resolution than someone who actually work for Pep Boys and has management issues

My wife took our 2001 F150 truck for brake pad replacements while I was out of town. Pep Boys South Lakeland Store convinced her both of the front brake calipers needed to be replaced (bull)! They charged her over $700 for what should have been a simple brake pad replacement! Several months later while our teenage daughter was driving the right front tire...

The Pep Boys tires I did not need

I got a nail in my tire and took my car to Pep Boys because it was close to the job and they offered $19.99 to plug in the hole. Got there and the guy tells me I need four new tires...now mind you I had taken my car to the car dealership a month prior for an oil change and they did a complete check and told me my tires were good for at least another year...so I told the guy at Pep Boys no thanks and to take my car off the rack...he wanted me to come and look but I refused and just told him to take my car off the rack. He did and gave me my keys...I then took my car to the dealership and they not only removed the nail and plugged the hole, they washed by car and didn't charge me a dime. When I told the guy at the dealership about Pep Boys he told me they were trying to take advantage of me because my tires were just fine. DO NOT go to Pep Boys they are rip-off artists.

Took my tahoe in for a oil change, like i have done for a couple of years now. Got there early so i wouldn't have to wait so long, still waited 2 hours. Next day "time to change oil light" came on. I thought they just hadn't reset it, so i thought i can do that. Did that then "check oil " light came on. What ?? Had my dad check my oil, guess what !! Kevin...

The Pep Boys bad service - lying

Went for an oil change and tire rotation. Picked car up and drove @ 20 yards before it started knocking. My toyota prius has 116, 000 miles and my other one 77, 000 and neither one has EVER KNOCKED Felt like it was about to stall out so before I drove right back in. By this time all sorts of warning lights were on.

45 minutes later the general manager and another supervisor person come and tell me they are not positive but it looks like a cylinder failed. They both denied doing anything wrong during the oil change, and it was just a coincidence it failed in the 20 yards they drove it into the bay and back out. Then they told me I should leave it overnight and how worried they were about my making it home. I haven't heard that ### in 35 years, but knew that the Prius could drive without any cylinders or gas and still get home - it's a HYBRID !

Next day I drive it all around town and there is no knocking anymore (how did the failed cylinder heal itself?) Next day my local mechanic - Jeff at Phillips and Lee in Marblehead, gives it a look. He plugs a device into the onboard computer, finds out what warning lights went on, and quickly learns they unhooked a hose in the front of the engine - which explained the knocking. Car is running fine, and everyone I tell about PEP BOYS also knows someone who had a crap repair job or was lied to by their mechanics.

PEP BOYS general manager could have fessed up, said we'll give you the next oil change free or a free tune-up, but instead tried to sell me a huge repair job that I didn't need.

The Pep Boys brakes

I went to PEP boys about two weeks ago to have my brakes checked. I checked on the internet and their site offered free brake inspection. Once I got there they told me it would be $19.95(?). I asked about the "free" and that is only if they do the work. Finally got the free.
After close to an hour, and a report that I needed new brakes all around, new rotors and drums. The total? $701, if I didn't need callipers also. (What are the odds?) That whatever I did I needed to get it done real soon, as the front brakes were in bad shape. The rear brakes weren't quite as bad, but should be replaced in the near future.
Well today I pulled my front brakes apart. Maybe 1/3 of the pads were worn away. The rotors? Not a scratch, very good condition. Since I had already torn the front end apart, I went ahead and replaced them. When I took the rear drums off, I found that without a micrometer, I couldn't tell how much they had worn. Holding the new brakes up to the old, you could see that there was a little wear, less than a quarter of the brakes pads were gone. I left the rear brakes on & put the drums back on, & drove over to pep boys to tell them what I thought.
I will never buy anything from pep boys again. I can't help but wonder how many older people have paid for work and parts they didn't need. From what I saw today, I would bet that they are ripping off a lot off people.

I had taken my Volvo to get the struts replaced at another Pep Boys prior to finding the one in Westminister on Beach & didn't get the problem solved, but Gene took my car in & looked at the struts & they did what they could with Volvo's design flaw. Volvo changed some things on this year of vehicle. I had some other work done there also & it was just fine...

Brought my car in for an alignment. They said they could not do the alignment without replacing the brakes. SO I had to leave that night and return several days later so they could order parts. Car made a horrible clunking noise on the way home. At home I checked and had 5 lug nuts on one wheel (all of them) that were finger loose. Although I had made an...

The Pep Boys repair promise

I went to pep boys & spoke to the service manager Rodney Robinson. I told him i needed an oil pump installed in a 1996 jeep grand cherokee limited 4x4 5.2L. A three hour job. He agreed and instructed me to have the truck towed in. I did. Then he had all kinds of excuses why he didn't want to do it. This particular truck is the easiest oil pump to ever have to install. You don't have to raise the engine or anything. Needless to say i had to have it towed again and installed elsewhere. It took 3 hrs. Very simple. I want my tow money refunded & they refuse

I have a few small problems with your complaint. One, in most vehicles the oil pump is the most difficult part to replace. Second, you mentioned not having to lift the engine or anything, at a shop where OSHA rules exist, they would still be required to do it the way the service manual details it. And third, how did you blow out an oil pump in the first place. I have owned 20+ vehicles over the years, most of them beater cars with half million miles on them, but none of them ever needed an oil pump

Found I was overcharged for a serpentine belt (belt costs $11.11 and I was charged $55.48). It takes about 15/20 min to change the belt, I was charged $93.60. Also look out for added fees...the Pepguard Limited Extended Labor Warranty, this was added to the bill without my knowledge. They did however remove it when I said I never asked for it ($14.04). The Pep Boys ruined my car and won't take responsabil

What car and the boys because it was overheating literally three hours the mechanic said that I need a new radiator and thermostat. I said okay since I'm not very well versed in auto repairs paid the $500 and said ok. We week later car overheats again I take it back to Pep Boys they said a little loose clamp I said okay. For five days later the car overheats. again this time I'm stuck on the road and car won't start. I'm sitting in the car looking in my rearview mirror and I'm about 50 feet away from being pulverize by a dump truck and im thinking I'm dead. Luckily the truck swerved from behind me and just misses me. I have the car towed to Pep Boys and they said that my head gasket blew from the car overheating. Spoke with the mechanic Pep Boys and he said that the second time the car overheated should have done more in check and see what the cause of the problem was Other than a loose clamp. Weighted six hours and finally got a hold of Karen who is the area district manager and she said they did everything they were supposed to but it wasn't their fault and then proceeded to hang up on me and has never called me back. Not taking responsibility for their actions and I'm stuck without a car I have lost about a weeks worth of work, my boss is not happy I am not happy that I'm looking at filing a lawsuit

The Pep Boys very bad experience with pepboys

I have a 1996 Impala. I have had it for many years and never had any issues with it like i have had in the past year in a half. All work done in 2012. I took my car to Pepboys in Germantown MD. I had to have my master cylinder replaced, starter, and water pump replaced. within 3 months, i had to have the starter replaced again, due to faulty starter. 4 months after that I had to have my water pump replaced due to faulty water pump. In Aug 2012, I had to replace my starter again. in sept 2012 had to replace water pump again due to mechanic fault.. They also had to replace my radiator due to mechanic fault. December 2012 master cylinder went out and got into a crash due to bad master cylinder. Pepboys replaced the master cylinder, all my break line and gave me 2 new calibers for the back.[censored]. NOW, june 2013, my starter went out again. NEVER AGAIN.
I suggest you do your research before taking it to them.

I had to have my car jump-started because the battery was dead. I took it to Pep Boys for their free battery charge. I was informed that my battery was completely dead (even though it was only 2 years old) and I had to buy a new one. I agreed to it. After putting in the new battery, I was informed that my battery was being drained as it sat there and there...

The Pep Boys my car 1995 kia sephia

I took my car in because it was making screeching noises as if there was a loose belt.

On 1/28/13, I took the car in... #803 Work order 2138369, the sales person or mechanic told me I had a bad alternator belt and that I needed a new battery. I accepted the work on my car but I am still having the loud screeching noise issue after changing the alternator belt. The battery has also died on me twice...I believe it is a bad battery.

I would like for Pep Boys to remedy this situation. Thanks Beverly

The Pep Boys they broke my car!!

I took my chevy malibu 2000 to pep boys(red lion and blvd, phila, pa) last week cuz there was smth wrong with the fan, the car overheated. the guy infront charged me 54 $ for the diagnostics, and the next day when i called to find out if they found an issue, i was told they needed to run another diagnostic for a 100$. i agreed. the next day i had to call them, cuz no1 ever called be back and i was told that i have to wait till monday to find out the price of the detail i needed. on mon i called again! and they still were not able to tell me the exact price. Finally the next day they ordered the detail and i was promissed that it would be delivered on wed, and the car would be fixed in a day or two. i wasnt even surprised when no1 called me back on thur(that the deadline when the car had to be fixed), so i went there, and guess what i was told: call fri morning cuz theres a bigger issue than we thought!that when i started to loose my parience. on fri, they said they cant fixed it, and i have to take it to the chevy dealer, so i can pick up the car. i went to the store to pick it up, paid 154$ for the diagnostic with no repair!sat in my car, started it(tho motor sounded really weird, with intervals). it never sounded like that before!i was kind of worried. when i put it on drive the car wont go!i tried 3 times!the same!it stopped and wont move!the guy who "took care" of the car all these days wasnt even there(his name is Josh, so be awear!) and he didnt even pick up the phone!another mechanic suggested to tow the car to the dealer and fix it there(really?u broke it and now i had to tow it?) or leave the car for another day!ppl, u cant even imagine how pissed off i was, i was almost having a nervous breakdown!i brought the car with 1 problem and now had 2(if not more!). and moreover the gas tank was empty, bt when i left the car there was half a tank!where is my gas i wondered!dont ever take ur cars to pepboys!they will break them and rip u off!

The Pep Boys pep boys rubs off manufacture date code

Pep Boys sells tires with the manufacture date code rubbed off. Tires are probably very old. Please always be sure to check for code (see G00gle if you're not sure how) and question them if code is absent.

There's a good chance that those tires were warranty tires that got put on your car. By accident or on purpose is another story. When PBY warranties tires they grind off the date code to show they were warrantied and should not be reinstalled. Taking this issue up with the shop itself would probably remedy the situation.
