Ontario Energy Group bullying and scare tactics

They came to my door today and told me they were inspecting all air conditioners and furnaces to ensure they meet the new 2015 government standards and would replace them if necessary. I told them they were new and didn't need replacing. They insisted that the standards had changed and they needed to inspect everything whether they were new or not. I told them to get in touch with my landlord (I am the owner) and they immediately changed their tune and were quite polite other than telling me to get my landlord to get in touch with them to ensure the safety of my children...so, once they knew I couldn't authorize anything, they were polite and went on their way.

Ontario Energy Group trespassing and theft

I have an older child at home that if you were to meet, you would know that she could not authorize any purchase or service she let a representative in. he left no card or any info for a call back. the only thing he did was steal a Samsung tablet from our living room. he came in the back door and left out the front door, leaving it open for our pets to escape. he probably would have stolen more but my wife's sister came in, and he made his getaway through the front door. we called the police and made a complaint but with no eye witness, sorry.
we called the company head office a number of times and no call back
and further more, ok he's a thief. but what if the next one is a Paul Bernardo. don't let them in. call a cop.

Ontario Energy Group false and misleading business practices

Sales person misrepresented the OEG relationship with Ontario Government, and with details of Bill C51, as well as being completely untruthful regarding the reasons for wanting to inspect our HVAC equipment. Aggressive, dishonest and ultimately rude. He was not granted access to our home, period.
Subsequent google search by me showed dubious credentials for this company.

Ontario Energy Group telemarketing call for 'free' furnace and a/c inspection

Caller said people in my area had been complaining about high gas consumption, and their free inspection would get me a refund for replacing my furnace if 10 y/o or more.

Today, at 11:05 am call came from [protected].

This number has tried several times to reach me, and today was the first time I didn't ignore the call.

I want call privacy legislation to work, to eliminate this type of scam callers.

Thank you.

Ontario Energy Group false/misleading/scammers

On 17th of May, 2015, We entered into an agreement with OEG to replace both our furnace and central air. We were to receive $150.00 once installation was done, any third parties were to be removed off our bills, 3 free months so we could see our savings and $650.00 rebate check. We did not receive the $150.00 as we were told it was not in writing, the third parties are still on our bills and the $650.00 rebate check was returned by the bank as unpaid. This company is false. They are scamming people out of money and not just a little. I have now written to the BBB and to the Ontario Consumer Protection and have filed complaints to both. This matter needs to be resolved.

Ontario Energy Group unsolicited sales, possible scam

Irritating door-to-door visit initiated with doorbell plus loud knocking, at my dinnertime. Two individuals at door from "Ontario Energy Group", that obviously failed to see notices posted there that clearly stated "No contracts. No solicitation. No inspectors." Insisted on talking to "king of the castle" about home heating and water heating system improvements, using an obviously canned presentation. Apparently also unable to grasp the significance of my words to them, in effect stating all of my heating equipment was already very recently replaced. Insisted on "coming back later" for some unknown reason. Had to be told explicitly that a return visit would be another total waste of time.

Ontario Energy Group misrepresentation/illegal sales tactics

These guys show themselves off as official representatives of your utility provider. They tell you that their purpose is to do an energy audit. What they actually want is for you to let them in and boan the condition of your HVAC system. Don't fall for this scam. I've attached a copy of the reps business card. Don't let them in (I did not). It will be your first and last mistake.

Ontario Energy Group lack of service tankless water heater

Ontario Energy Group actively promotes the use of the tankless water heater which I installed and I continually have problems and have been without hot water for weeks. Now OEG is saying the wrong unit was installed and I will have to go from paying $35 per month to $119 which I refuse to do. It is now 6 weeks and over 4 service visits and OEG still will not resolve the problem. I have to go to the basement and unplug and reset the unit more than 3 times a day only to get about 10minutes of hot water. We have to boil water for dishes and bathing.

Ontario Energy Group frauders

Last month, one man from OEG named "Hayman" was knocking doors of our street. He came to our home and told my father that "Ontario government" has "changed" the standards for furnace and air-conditioner and that we are qualifying for "free" new A/C and Furnace from "Ontario". Mine both equipments were only 5 years old and were "mine property".
He informed my father that "Ontario clean energy benefit" which is mentioned on electricity bills (of every home owner) is the qualification criteria for new A/C and Furnace. He applied pressure tactics and made my father signed the contract for $140/month for "Goodman" A/C and Furnace on rental basis.
After coming from office; i read whole contract and saw how he tricked my father in the name of payback. As my background is technical, i invited this man again in my house and asked following questions which he used to trick people every day:

1- why you used the word "Ontario" only in tricking people, when your company name is "Ontario energy group"?
2- Is "Ontario clean energy benefit" has any thing to do with furnace and air-conditioners he was trying to sell?
3- What is the proof of savings he guaranteed? (P.s: every new equipment saves money but i have heard cases about this company that bills went high after they installed their equipment) - he was giving illogical answers...
4- Why his badge contains "false TSSA serial number and bar code" - he was smiling that if i am a cop...
5- He committed my father that OEG will provide "free maintenance, labor and parts" but when i told him story of my one friend that "OEG service manager" was asking him money for solving his furnace related issue which came since they installed the furnace - he had no answer!
6- I showed him that their contract binds customer for 15 years and that a furnace and A/C which can be bought and installed for $3000; in 15 years they will charge us more than $15000 - he was again quiet!

In the end, i told him that he and his company tries to take away the customer's "own property" and hands them over a "rental equipment" by deceiving good people, after that i tore apart the contract in front of his eyes and called 911 to lodge the complain - I have heard that this company is now required to take city permit to enter in Sarnia!

Spread the message as much as you can to save innocent people being deceived by these evil door knockers!

Did your father sign Contract and if so did they cancel contact with no problems. I signed said I would read threw it. Felt very pressured into signing. Called about 10 mins after she left to cancel just wasn't sitting well with me. She had booked furnace and air to be replaced the next morning at 10 am. Only 12 hours later felt very much like what's the rush because I said I wanted to look into it and read threw everything first. She was not happy..

Ontario Energy Group Harassment door to door

OEG made several Calls made to our home with pressure to set up an appointment to inspect furnace and pipes. Misrepresented company as a government agency. We advised the OEG person on phone that we would not set up an appointment and believed they were a scam. A week later OEG scammer arrived in our neighbourhood and very aggressively trying to enter our home to "inspect". Discussed who they were representing and why they had the right to enter our home. Very evasive and rude. Finally left making rude comments. I am concerned as this is a neighbourhood of elderly people who could be vulnerable to these pressure tactics and not realize that they are dealing with scammers.

Ontario Energy Group non-compliance of lease terms

On August 1, 2014, based on at-home meeting with Andrew Dunnette of Ontario Energy Group (OEG), I entered into a signed agreement that called for OEG to install and lease to me a new home furnace and air conditioner. The agreement was entered into based on the verbal information provided and referred to in the contract, that enabled OEG acting as my agent, to terminate Just Energy as my service provider for delivery of both my natural gas and hydro. The monthly savings of $99.32 in Just Energy's administration fees would help offset OEG's monthly lease fees, thereby limiting my net monthly cash outlay. The new equipment was installed on August 6, 2014, and the first lease payment was processed through my bank in October. To date, there has been no change to either of my utility bills. I tried to follow-up with OEG in late October/early November but two separate v/m messages to their service number were not returned. Three calls to Dunnette resulted in promises of follow-up but no further call backs were received. The fourth and final call to Dunnette went to v/m, but no call back was received. On December 3, 2014, I sent a registered letter to the company advising them that based on their unwillingness to speak to me directly, I was forced to conclude that my decision to enter into this agreement had been based on statements made by their representative which were false and/or intentionally misleading and/or direct fraud. I am still waiting for a response.

Ontario Energy Group aggressiveness of door to door sales reps

A group of people identifying themselves as working on behalf of the Government to educate homeowners on the revisions to energy audits. The group wore shirts and name tags that showed the company name as Ontario Energy Group. A young man with the group opened my screen door and jammed his foot between the door jam and the door; He demanded to come into my home to check our furnace. I politely explained that I was not interested . He stated that he was by the previous month He stated that he would continue each day to come by until; our name could be crossed off his list. Our complex has signage that clearly states that solicitors are not welcome and if they come onto the property, they are trespassing

Ontario Energy Group built for fraud

Dear Consumers I used to work for Ontario Energy Group in a managerial position/service and installation technician from when the company was starting out up until 1 -1/2 years ago the reason for leaving was that I could not take anymore that we where ripping people off and sales where produced with aggressive tactics and lying that they where part of a government program what they do is hire call girls to work the phones all day on a call list generated from a company legally because this list are of people that are not on the do not call list and so they tell you that they must make an appointment to check the efficiency of your furnace, ac, water heater and once they come to your home and step inside the sales tactics start in which are aggressive and over powering for the elderly these sales people are trained in a facility to sale this way because unfortunately it works based on ratio because if they bring in 10 contracts a day and even just one goes in they made there money for the week think about it if you have 20 of these people a day going door to door and they sale and install just 1 that's 20 installs a day I know I was there we where doing 100 installs a month. So if you want to get anything installed by a licensed technician with no sales tactics just honest work and fair pricing just send me an email at [protected]@gmail.com it would be my pleasure to help you out.

Thanks

Ontario Energy Group false inspection and representation

A young man showed up on Sunday morning claiming he was sent to inspect the furnace and a/c because of new efficiency standards. He said when the government issued new standards, he was sent out to make sure the existing models were compliant. This representation made it sound like he worked in conjunction or on behalf of the 'government'. Having explained to him that there was no appointment made and I did not know of such an inspection, I would not allow him in unless it was verified with my hydro or gas provider. Again I told him I could not let him in my home and he should leave. He did so. After leaving, I truly felt like he misrepresented a 'company' as being a legitimate outreach of some government inspection office.

What happened to the Lady of Windsor is exactly what happened at my door. After he waited a while when I went to check the company out on line he said that they would send a notification pertaining to the time they would be back for inspection and left. I called the police, non emergency line, to let them know what was happening. Another representative of the same company came back on my street later that day I guess to go to the doors that they did not get an answer from earlier. He was not the same person but the same company. He ignored me though even though I was out front and I walked beside him to verify that he was, in fact, from the same company. I guess he was told about me. I did my verification then phoned the police again. To my surprise the police came out but not quite soon enough to find the guy. Had I known the police were actually going to come out I would have followed him. Since I was very obvious about my verification of this new guy I am sure he knew enough to hide when a police car came around. I'm sorry I was so obvious now. Anyway I am sure he went on his merry way but, at least away from my neighbours who may or may not have known enough to tell him to get lost.

A couple of these knuckleheads came to my door a couple days ago and they never expected to run into someone like me. I am a licensed G1 gas fitter and an HVAC/R technician. They explained that they had been sent out to inspect my water heater and furnace because of the "changed standards". One of them also said that they needed to check the central A/C. The language they used at first implied that they were operating in some sort of official capacity but when I asked about that directly one of them replied, "We never said we were from the government". They were not acting for the gas supplier either and they seemed quite surprised that I knew what TSSA is.

At that point I was getting somewhat wound up and I sent them away. I wish I had been more patient because I wonder why they wanted to see the A/C. But I think I know. This sounds like 1994 all over again when Refrigerant 12 was phased out. Some contractors went around and tried to convince their customers that their R-12 systems had to be ripped out and replaced with new equipment when it was not necessary.

I bet in 2014 these sharks are going into people's homes, finding air conditioners with Refrigerant 22 and playing the same game as in 1994. Don't listen to them. As long as your R-22 system is working and does not develop a leak you do not have to do a thing. Even if the refrigerant leaks out there are repair options aside from buying a new system.

Ontario Energy Group aggressive door to door sales

Two men knocked on the door loudly and urgently. I opened the door and they demanded to speak to the homeowner. No introduction just a rude demand as if there was an emergency. When I asked them what it was about they said they had to do an inspection as if they were qualified official city inspectors. When I asked for their credentials they refused to identify themselves and became hostile. Heated words were exchanged and then they left. About 45 minutes later there was another loud knock on the door and when I went to answer it there was no one there. They came back to purposely disturb me again. Hostile fraudulent criminals bullying people and looking for targets.

I honestly cannot believe how ignorant some of these complaints are. I will bet you any money the ONE AND ONLY reason any of you self-obsessed, ignorant ### ever had an issue with an OEG rep being rude to you, was you being disrespectful to them first. Take a good look at yourselves and the way you act before taking stabs at people who naturally fight back when being disrespected. Canadians are the nicest people in the world? Ha. That's a good one.

Ontario Energy Group door to door sales scam

Ontario Energy Group representative arrived at the door saying he was from Ontario Energy and that he had to inspect my furnace to see if it met the Ontario government energy efficiency standard. (I knew what the government standard was (ie. 90 AFUE minimum for new furnace installations) and told him that our furnace exceeded that standard . He insisted it was his job to confirm whether our furnace was up to code. After I showed him the furnace he ignored the AFUE rating and started claiming the black PVC pipes on my furnace proved it was not up to code. He claimed furnaces that were up to code had white PVC pipes. He went on to claim that black PVC pipes were known to crack and leak methane gas. I told him to get out of my home and that I would be making a complaint about his company's dishonest door to door sales campaign. He ran out of the house at that point.

Ontario Energy Group wouldn't produce id

On June 1, 2013 a "representative" from Ontario Energy Group rang my doorbell and insisted that he was there are the request of the Ontario Government. He wore a teal shirt, with the Ontario Energy Group logo, and a ball cap. He told me that he was here on behalf of the Ontario Government, and that he had to inspect my furnace and hot water heater to see if they were up to code. I asked him to explain himself again. Then I asked to see his papers. He conveniently forgot his name badge and business cards at home. I told him he wouldn't be allowed into my house without them, so he offered to send a business associate who had his cards at another time. At this point he left, and continued knocking on doors down the street. As far as I can tell, there was no such request from the Ontario Government. And Ontario Energy Group won't even answer there phones to answer my inquiries. Don't open your doors to these people - who knows what they are fishing for!

Ontario Energy Group door to door sales

This monday may 20th 2013 (victoria day long weekend) a self described representative of "ontario energy " delights me with the knowlage that my hot water heater is not energy efficent and they needed to inspect it along with my central air system and furnace to see if they wer applicable for "the Ontario energy credit" that is only offerd for a limited time.
After refusing to let a stranger who denied to supply me with identification into my home I was then told that even though it was not manditory yet, it WILL BE SOON so i should let them in anyway.
After again denying a agressive sales tactic i was grilled about my choice to have a 50 foot tall dead tree cut down from my front lawn the day before (still in pieces on my lawn).
I let several muinets pass listening to someone with far to many enviromental opinions chatter out of sheer politeness before I inform her I'm not interested and close the door to return to my lunch.
Thursday may 23 another representative of "Ontario energy" knocks on my door to sternly demand to see my hot water heater and this time my utility bills. I try politely telling him " I already said I'm not interested monday " only to be cut off four syllables in with " yea I'm followin up on that ". Again refusing access to my home he aggressively asks THREE more times to see my utility bill. Denying him my bills, he informed me " its fine, theres nothin I can steal off it ". I reply great closing the door this time to finish dinner
wonder whats instore tommorow?

Ontario Energy Group scam and advisor taking advantage of senior

"Energy Efficiency Advisor" Faysal Abdikahin and his colleague Joshua Burke engaged my father a senior citizen into replacing the furnace, air conditioner and watercooler in our family home without my consent (I partially own the house) after reviewing our bills without my consent. They told him that it would save on the bills. I work out of town and when I returned yesterday both young men showed up to the house with three bags of chips - letting me know that they thought my father was a good person and wanted to help him. Faysal who lives in Kitchener... told me that he planned to visit my father every Saturday. This crafty guy let me know that he wasn't leaving the house when I told him to get out since my father invited him in. So there I stood in my house with these two tall young men in my house chatting up my father while I called family friends to alert them to the fact that the rip off artists were back and had taken a "personal" interest in my father. After four visits to the house they seem to want to be treated like family and now have plans to be back next Saturday. This conduct is totally inappropriate. Not sure what their plans are but I do not want to ever see them back in our home. How can this be stopped. Not sure what the implications are for the bill because I haven't seen the documentation.
