I purchased a pair of Oakley Jury sunglasses while on vacation in Disneyworld (Orlando, Florida). I was in the Downtown Disney area and stopped in the Sunglass Hut store to browse. The sales associate convince me to buy the Oakley Jury glasses on ONE selling point alone - the plastic hinge mechanism that holds the arm to the front would "give" first and break before the frames were damaged if anything were to put pressure on the glasses - i.e. sitting on them, stretching them, etc. I purchased them for somewhere around $250. A few weeks ago the plastic just snapped in half after simply putting them on - plastic fatigue in my opinion. After emailing back and forth with Oakley, the bottom line is that Oakley never intended to make these replacement parts on the aftermarket. The only solution EVER was to buy a new frame. WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT?!?!?! These are aircraft grade aluminum frames that I love wearing. Oakley's response was simply to give me a 35% discount on a new pair. Why should I have to do that? I didn't break them. I was sold on the replacement factor. I feel like they used the bait-and-switch to sell these. I have no options but to come to online forums and let others know. I've owned Oakley glasses since 1988 but I'm afraid I'm done with their brand over a simple matter of a $3 plastic part.
i ran into the exact same problem but fixed it for $2... I just bought a 1.8mm carbon fibre rod from ebay and cut it to fit... problem solved!

I had the same thing happen ages ago, almost new. Luckily I hung on to them. The pin is, I think, 1.7mm thick. Body piercing bars come in various thicknesses, one of which is 1.6mm. You can buy in metal or plastic, and they’re relatively cheap. You can cut to size then glue it in.
I’m currently experimenting with using the thread (where they ball screws on) to screw the bar into the frames a bit, but obviously this can’t be done when it’s already the right length, but if you’re prepared to just glue it then this is a relatively cheap, readily available item that’s virtually the same size.
You know, having the pin break, while leaving the hinge itself in 100% shape would seem to be a major PLUS... I have the M frame tactical, wear them everyday, I have repalced lens 3 times, nose pieces, ear rubber, a friend jokingly shoved me- not seeing the glasses hanging by a keeper around my neck under my pile shirt, & busted the pin. Figured when I get back, I'd find where I can get a replacement pin ( why i found this page)... Meanwhile, I found a nice green Maple twig and carefully scraped it down as temporary replacement – which has worked perfectly. Works fine & from the sounds of this thread, It may have to be permanent.
The original pin is a semi-translucent, cream/yellow colored bit of nylon ( i think) rod. It does not penetrate the top of the glasses, but does the bottom. Obviously how they feed the pin in. So you run whatever pin you wish up through it till it stops in the "pit" at top and if its teh perfect length- it would be flush at bottom. I did have to tap out the remnants of the original pin from the lower part of the frame, but luckily nothing was left in hole at top. I did this in the back country- but I am pretty handy. I suppose if a bit of broken pin remained in top I would have been SOL. Then I'd have to have a jeweler fish it/ tap it out with a wire drill bit to the correct size by finger to not make the hole bigger. For my maple pin, I left a bit hanging out to grab hold of when I want to remove it .

My local oakley seller claim there is no parts? But i could but new badmans? Huh no parts but there is still new frames to buy? 400$ Wtf? Do get it right when My windshield wipers are do i need to buy new mercebenz also?

I bought Oakleys from them and they were fake. It took 3 weeks to receive this [censored]. They fooled me and now my son will wear cheap and plastic. Don't but from them!

I ordered 5 pairs of Oakley sunglasses and never received them or a confirmation saying that they have been shipped! going to check with my credit card company to see if i can get a refund or at least dispute the charge.
I should have thought of a 3-D printer to make the replacement hing pin. Great idea. I will not spend hard earned $ with Oak again.
Contact Oakley Europe at customercare-europe@Oakley.com. They have replaced them in the past for 19 English pounds which is less the $50. Oakley USA has horrible customer service.

Luckily mine lasted 2 years until about 2 months ago when i was putting them on and the right side plastic piece snapped... tried super glue and it broke again the first time i tried to put them back on. Called Oakley and they were no help. If anyone has information on where/how to purchase/make a replacement piece please share with us.
Brand new only worn 3 times fell off the dash and broke less than a week after they sold them to me they were discontinued and are not making any replacement parts for the Jury! Looks like enough people for a class action lawsuit!
Does anyone have a right hinge for sale? My wife bought me these pair and I really don't want to toss them. Like everyone else, I called Oakley and spoke to a mgr and told him that these would be the last pair I get due to their poor customer service. Any help would be appreciated in finding a replacement hinge, thanks.

It is shocking to see so many of the same complaints for this model, which I think are very stylish looking. My complaints is of the same nature but my left side hinge broke while opening the temples to put them on! It is a matte black model and anybody interested can contact me for parts, I will not be wearing or buying anymore oakley sunglasses.

I have the same problem. I've had my Jury's for under 2 years. The right hinge snapped this weekend. I had assumed that this would be an easy part to replace, even if it meant buying a new arm, but it would appear not. I've contacted Oakley and not yet had a reply. What a waste of money. This will be the last time I buy from them.

Same case for me, right hinge broken.
I explained the problem via the following website (EU) Oakley and I received an e-mail five days later.
I had to fill out a fact sheet, provide some pictures and invoice.
1 month later (today) I received a phone call telling me that Oakley gave me a new pair of the amount of the one I purchased in June 2011 => € 199!
I have to choose a model and call. If the price exceeds € 199 I would pay the difference.

My right side plastic flex piece of my Oakley Jurys just broke yesterday just by taking them off. Had them for right around 2 years. They should last longer than that. Seems like such an easy and cheap replacement part to make and have in stock. They offered me a 35% discount on my next purchase but I feel like I deserve more than that because of the price I paid for these so called durable glasses. Kind of down on Oakley products now.
100% agree. Was sold the same bill of goods by the Oakley Outlet store, only no returns! They also told me that you could get replacements. After spending a few hundred more on Oakley prescription lenses, I now have a $500 pair of cheap, broken, sun glasses, I would be interested in buying a left hinge for a pair of Jury's if anyone wants to sell one! rich.clasen@frontier.com

I'm 47 years old and have been wearing Oakley sunglasses since i was about 18.but sorry Oakley that's all the money you'll see from me. i spent approx. 200.00 hard earned dollars on these jury glasses as a lineman climbing power poles so we can all enjoy electricity (HARD WORK) ! and spent it on crap. are they making them in china now ? anyway I'm very sorry i bought these Oakleys and will never buy a pair of Oakleys again ! Exactly what happened to me! Right hinge broke simply taking them off my head! Refused my warranty! Claimed not a manufacturer defect! Cheap cheap cheap! Wouldn't even repair them and lied to me!
I bought the Oakley Jury sunglasses too. I just love the design and how they fit on my face. But as other guys just mentioned, the hinge parts are made of cheap plastic. A month after, when taking them off my head the right side broke, just like that... tried to find it, but no spare parts are sold in the aftermarket.

Agreed! Same thing happened to me. Smiths sunglasses are looking mighty attractive now too. I'm done with Oakley and you should be too. Be fortunate if you haven't had any problems with Oakleys yet. Your day will come!

I have several different Oakley sunglasses and have been a pretty loyal customer. But my last two pair have been a huge dissapointment. I purchased the Jury sunglasses because they appeared to be very well designed and made mostly of metal except for the hinge parts that were plastic. I thought that was good because the frames would hold up well and the hinge parts could be replaced easily when they do break (as most Oakley's do) But after both parts of the plastic hinge broke on different occasions. I went to several authorized Oakley retailers (optical stores) and to my dismay discovered that replacement parts are not available. The cheap plastic hinge components are absolute junk! I should have purchased the Maui Jims like many people suggested, Including the salesman at Sunglass Hut. Well now I will purchase the Maui's.
