purchase Norton anti virus sum of around $200.00 thinking I was buying the best anti virus. Turns out it's the worst it has stopped my computer from working always asking to update the Norton. then it tells me It cant load updates. then stops my computer. It then goes to data entry only, with Norton flashing. I bought the Norton 3months ago and ever since i have had nothing but problems. hate this anti virus..

Same thing happened to me recently. I bought Norton Internet Security (3 user) version just about 3 months ago and within two months both of my computers receive a message that the software had encountered an error that could only be fixed by removing it (on line) and re-downloading the program. I ignored the message for several weeks though it was persistent in its messaging. Finally after paying heed to the message, I went through their process of removing the program and re-downloading it. It took approx 2 hours for it to remove the program which I thought was unusually long. After removal it directed me back on line to sign in on my account to re-download. I did but it apparently downloaded a "trial" copy instead of my paid for version. After it was loaded down, it ran a scan immediately and it revealed multiple threats such as Trojans and worms with despicable names I won't repeat. Where did these come from? Anyhow it gave me a critical warning to remove, so I tried by clicking the removal button. When I did that it then told me I had to purchase the software before it would remove it. Not certain whether or not this was a scam, I refused to purchase and tried to go on line to contact Norton. At that point it locked up all my needed programs with "worms" that wasn't effecting my computer prior to the removal process. My question to Norton, if I can get a hold of them, is why they are holding my computer hostage until I pay their ransom to unlock and clear my computer of viruses or worms or whatever that I paid them to protect me from in the first place. It smells too much like a scam to me by Norton. Someone needs to investigate these complaints. Norton NO MORE!

I tried to install 2013 edition (for free) but computer halted and I had bill for £200 to put it right! Any way of getting Symantec to pay this?

Exactly what happened to me. Norton is the worst.. Intrudes on everything and like you say, computer gets slower and slower and eventually wont work. They found the same thing with mine. No more Norton for me!

I used to do computer repairs and soo many times people would bring their computers in because it ran slow or not at all, and I cannot count how many times simply removing Norton would immediately fix majority of issues.

Norton is one of the worst things you can do to a computer. It is so invasive, and takes control of everything on your computer that it eventually slows everything to a screeching halt.

There are so many free anti-virus programs that do just as well, and won't slow you down.

Hi Bonnie,

I'm Melinda on behalf of Symantec.

It seems you are having issues around running a scan for udpates on your Norton Antivirus. Are you still having trouble with getting the product to update virus signatures?

Please let me know if I can further assist.

Best,
Melinda

Hmm, I've had Norton for years, never had a problem. When I've seen this in the past it is because you already have a virus on your computer - you can not expect miracles.

There is an unauthorised renewal by the Norton Annual Renewal. Norton claimed Indian rupees equivalent to USD 49.99 being renewal charges from my credit card without any information either via email or telephone or any authorisation from me. This is outrageous. How can I get the money back. I do not want to renew unless I am asked for.

Hi,
I once purchased online for the Norton Antiviru software last year - 2007. I downloaded and my computer went on a snail pace and I removed the Norton pogramme. I have never used it since then. I am charged in my credit card for renewal last month when I am not using the programme. Please reimburse the said amount and I want to terminate the contract if I had signed one.

I am instructing my credit card company not to entertain any claims from Norton Antivirus

Thank you
