NorthWestWebSolutions and TopHostingUK have merged. I was with TopHostingUK for 2 years and was very satisfied. However, since the merge, I am dealing primarily with NWWS, and their service is abysmal. The server suffered a multitude of problems, and I lost a lot of data with no explanations and no apologies.
Today I signed up with another host and they were transferring my accounts when NWWS found out and have taken my server offline. They refuse to allow me access to my sites until I pay them £40 for another month, even though my next payment isn't due until the 28th Jan. They begged me to stay after the merge and offered me this deal and setup a new account for me, now they are saying I haved stabbed them in the back by wanting to leave.
So, despite their 30 day money back guarantee, and the fact that these websites are my own property, they won't give me them until I pay them. What can I do about this?

This was a good company until it was taken over. It is now part of North West Web Solutions.
Between December 2010 and February 2011, there were big problems with server downtime. It was down for days at a time while they attempted to repair it. They then decided to get a new server - offering everyone a free month's trial on the new server. They then changed their mind and billed their customers for that month.
When I complained, they sent me an unintelligible message about how much it has cost them to get this new server and how they were going to give every customer a free month in turn and how they were going to do a cash draw for their customers.
I replied saying if they didn't want to uphold their promise of a trial I would move my hosting elsewhere.
Their reply was:

They have suspended my account despite having two weeks paid-for hosting remaining. I cannot access any of my data and I cannot move my domain elsewhere.
DO NOT USE THIS HOSTING COMPANY!
I have had loads of problems with tophostinguk as well, but only after they merged with northwestwebsolutions. The new customer service representative "David", in my opinion, is a complete snot with no regard or respect for his customers. I've nearly finished with my ordeal with them, and ordeal which required that ICANN get involved. Good luck in your dealings with them... everyone else, stay well away from this host. Between the lack of accountability for server outages and the extremely hostile demeanour, it's worth paying a bit more for your hosting.

You try to act smart but your not, I have told you you can edit the site all you want but you will be infringing on copyright from templatemonster.com and i have already informed them of your intentions for the template. The template and design is owned by them and unless you are willing to pay them $2850 to buy the template outright then you have no right to edit or use it in any way.
The first account I had with you I cancelled two weeks before the end of my billing cycle and selected the option for it to be shut down at the end of the billing cycle but you shut it down straight away and gave me the ### excuse of a hard drive failure on the server and lost all my data and did not offer any compensation towards that.
The second account I had with you I cancelled because I was sick and tired of not being able to access my site or my control panel and all the features described on the site were not on my account.
And again you try to act smart saying all 3 of my companies are in debt. Just tell me how the hell can you even know anything about my companies when they were only registered last year and the annual return is not due till august so no financial info i held anywhere about the companies. For your info the companies are not in debt and 2 of them are not even active.
And again your going on about me owing you money, I don't know where you work out that I owe you money when you owe me money for service not provided. your wrong in the ###ing head and need to seek medical help.
It seems like you are making a habit of stealing peoples websites as many of your previous clients have had the same problem with you
Grow up and leave me alone because your really boring me now, I have got better things to do than play silly little childish games with you.

by the way midlands yes right ...
your company under 3 names all in debt ... unpaid bills
refunds are for brand new customers you werew not ...
if paypal give you your money back thats up to them ...
but untill we get paid the website is ours and we can do what we want with it ...
we can put it on as many domains as we like ...
get our money back that way and any costs ... website with domain /hosting billing built in 200.00 sound fair price ...
you thought you were smarter than us, , well got proved wrong have nt you ...
you tryed crossing us after we help you and it didnt pay off ..
enjoy your paypal refund ... dont think your be getting any hoster after i have finished

I am having the same problem, I was with THUK and decided to leave as I wanted a alpha reseller account, after a while i chose to return but when I returned THUK was north west web solutions, I cancelled my service after 20 days as I did not get the free SSL certificate and Installatron and softaculous were not in my control panel as advertised and they were not willing to put them on or install ssl. I cancelled my account and opened a dispute with paypal to get my money back and now THUK/NWWS are telling me i owe them money when i dont and that they have got the baliffs to collect money from me and they have stole my site saying it is there property and that they are going to edit it and sell it. I would advise anyone and everyone to stay away from tophostinguk.com and northwestwebsolutions.co.uk they are only in it for the money. When I was with them i had problems with my whmcs billing system which i asked them to look in to but after i forgot to change the password. I am now hosting my site somewhere else and today THUK/NWWS hacked my billing system blocked my ip and sent a bill for £39.99 to all my clients. I know it was them because i traced the ip and it matched up to their email address. STAY AWAY FROM THESE THEY WILL DESTROY YOUR COMPANY AND YOUR SITE
