Ever since the fares went up, NJ Transit so-called "service" on the 62 bus line has dropped shamefully. This is in no doubt because of the Republican Governor who thinks poor people who have to rely on public transportation should pay more for less. I am referring in particular to Wednesday, 30 June, when I arrived at Newark Penn Station at 12:40 PM and waited for the 12:50 PM bus to Newark Airport. I am a low-wage airline worker. The 12:50 bus never came. The 1:05 bus never came. By this time, at least 50 "customers" were quite irritated and many of us called NJ Transit's so-called "customer service" line. No explanation was given. I spoke to a totally helpless and clueless "representative" who had to be told FIVE TIMES what the problem was. Finally a bus came at 1:20 and filled beyond capacity. Many of us who work at the airport were by now late for work. Not me, however, since I allow plenty of time knowing how substandard NJ Transit operates. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE SERVICE! But it gets worse. This happened again on Friday, 2 July and today, Sunday, 4 July. Today when I called to complain, it took ten minutes to get through to another helpless, clueless representative who then put me on hold for five minutes and came back to say the bus broke down. At this rate, I’m going to find a carpool because NJ Transit is becoming more and more useless.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.

there are a lot of nasty creeps driving for njt. there are some nice people also. btw-i never call the cust serv people, they are a bunch of nasty idiots, for the most part. njt does not care. they know that they are the only game in town, so to speak. unlike a bank, where you have many options, and people are usually very friendly. i give njt an F grade.
Hi, I take the 163 I don't have a problem with morning commuting, but getting home every night with the long lines is just getting out of control the passed year. And the new gate really sucks 208!
And I have to say not enough buses and they are always running late, ok I understand the traffic bus it's been really getting bad getting home. I usually don't complain, but since 2010 it's been horrible getting home a night mare. I use to get home by 6:20pm the latest now it's 7-7:15pm and people are all very frustrated. And our dispatcher doesn't help, he's to busy on his phone or not calling in buses or just sitting in his booth.
The newark Bus coming out of Newark has some of the rudest Bus drivers I ever encountered. They a rude and straight up nasty when you ask them any question or for a transfer. What the hell is going on! They mean mug you as soon as you get on the bus and pass you buy at times if they dont think your looking. It's rediculous. This one Black lady Bus 5749 with glasses is the nasties B I every met. AndIm black too so it aint racial. I get on the bus today out of the pooring rain and she has the windows open and the air condition on full blaze. The whole bus was freazing and she just act like she could tell. Everone on the bus was covering up and shaking. A few of us on the bus was complainting about her attitude and none of us riders knew each other but we knew her nasty ###. We were freazing and none of us wanted to tell her to turn it off cus we all knew how nasty her attitude was and that she would just start to argure with you. Why should we have to pay high prices to ride these god dam busses and have to be abused by these Bus drivers. It seems like as soon as these bus drivers got Fed statis they lost their god damm minds. I actually had a bus driver pass me by in a snow storm while I was waving frantically and stopped a block away and had the nerve to tell me whats my problem, like I was a child or something. Im 45 yrs old. And then said If I dont like it I should buy a car and had the Fkn nerve to ask me "why am I riding the bus' and said a grown man should be driving a car. The whole bus just was in shock. And she kept going on arguing to her self afterI sat down. WTF. Im tied of this BS from these drivers, what are yall going to do' NOTHING! . And you wonder why busses are crashing left and right. They need to scene these postal buss drivers and their Fk'd up attitudes. You can really tell the difference in these past years. WTF are yall doing! Why you hiring these crazy postal bus drivers. You can hear my dissuss and its not just me compalining. I know 7 people with the same God damm complaints. And the fares are rising. @WTF!
The service doesn't suck because there's a Republican Gov. The service sucks because of lack of maintenance, failure of previous Republican and Democratic administrations to negotiate better contracts and apathy on the part of voters to demand that the infrastructure be a priority.
China is building a modern infrastructure based on our model from the Eisenhower administration in the 1950's. That vision helped us become the most prosperous country the world has ever seen. Unfortunately our apathy has left our infrastructure poorly maintained and in desperate need of upgrades and replacement. China will be kicking our butts and as we decline they will rise. Don't believe it? Do your homework and you will become a believer.
This recent spate of service issues are gonna look like the good old days if we don't get our priorities in order. You wanna keep believing in a free lunch than suffer the realities that are on the horizon.
Wake up America and Wake up New Jersey. Election day is your chance to be heard. Democracy aint always pretty but with intelligent thought and perserverence we can achieve our goals. it may take a few elections but the politicians should fear the voters.
