Synapse Group Charged my account without permission

Newsub magazine needs to be sued. They have scammed me, and from what I can tell, MANY other people.

They somehow charged my debit card without my consent. I only found out because I constantly check my online bank account, and saw that there were numerous charges from these people.

I am on to them now, and now they will have to deal with me. My next stop is consumer reports, and I will find out what I have to do to shut them down.

I suggest that everyone else who has been conned do the same.

BEWARE OF NEWSUBMAGAZINE!

Synapse Group Unwanted automatic continuance of subscriptions

Received a notice that unwanted magazine subscriptions would be continued and charged to my credit card without my authorization. This came from NewSub Magazine Services, LLC, C/O Processing Center, PO Box 30468, Salt Lake City UT 84130.

In trying to cancel all subscriptions I was forced to listen to numerous sales pitches. It took about twenty minutes to cancel three magazines, but the instructions were very confusing and irritating.

I finally did receive confirmation numbers for the three magazines. Very questionable business practice.

If someone doesn't have either the patience or skills to thrash thru their nonsense, they will be charged as indicated.

I have notified my Better Business Bureau. Very fraudulent practices. It Stinks!

Synapse Group Fraud

I am very upset that I called and cancelled this order before it was delivered and they still billed my card, and I don't get the magazines. I have made several phone calls regarding this matter, but I keep getting the same information that they will not future bill me. The offer was if you were not satisified you can call and get a full refund. That information it totally incorrect. I called again this morning and explained that they have charged my card for 3 magazines that I do not want. She offered to cancel but to allow me to continue to receive the magazines for $5.97 for 11 issues. I refused.

Synapse Group false transaction

The automated call said that I ordered two magazines by accepting an offer online. Well, I did not. I have received magazines from this company in the past and I learned my lesson back then of how they work. I amvery careful about onlne offers.

This company still had my credit card number from before and made charges on my card falsely.

I can not get in touch with a real person to talk to about this matter. I want my money back.

I guess I will have to cancel my credit card.

This is a bad company!

I agree I am currently going through the same thing with the same company Synapse Connect. I did not order any more magazines I cancelled and the automated machine can't get through to a real person not an option on their automated answering machine. This company is a rip off now I have to go to my bank and dispute the charges. I don't know why they are still in business to prey on people. We need to shut this fraudulent company down.

Synapse Group - cancellation

I can not believe that they just renew your subscription and when you call to cancel you get this fricking automated system that gives you no way of talking to a real person! I even had to call this other 1800 number that was basically the same thing but when they claim they're going to credit your acct back in 1 to 2 business days they come on with thi...

Synapse Group cancelation

My 17 year old son got offered a trial subscription from CCS.com when he ordered some skate t-shirts. I was very patient and listened to the whole spiel over and over answering "NO" at least a dozen times and finally getting them to say they will cancel all the magazines. My son now all of a sudden is smart and suggests I call back to see if indeed they are canceled as you have the option of getting a list of mags. they say you have a current subsciption of. Guess what? They listed them all...UGH! I will go to his bank with him tomorrow and if they can't block the charge I will close his account and yes I am letting CCS know that we will no longer be doing bussiness with them ever again!

Anyone who experiences the same thing as the poster of this comment should also contact the retailer/company that the magazine subscription was attached to so that they terminate their business partnership with them and no other customers will have to go through this situation.

Synapse Group forced auto renewal

RE: # [protected]

The terms to cancel current subscription came ATTACHED with new terms for renewal. No live operators - strictly automated and accept only YES or NO responses on their [protected] contact line - the ONLY line of contact excluding PO BOX.

I CANNOT simply cancel the subscription FREE & CLEAR !

The business practice is unethical and holds me hostage to continuing renewing the magazine subscrtiption I no longer want, albeit at lower rates and all...it's NOT good news, it's COERCION!

HELP!

Jan 06 2020 - It's like dealing with a lobster with no banding on the claws. After reading the comments above though, I went to the website referenced [https://www.magcustomerservice.com/wss/10000041/home.do] and closed each magazine. They use small type faces and word choices like 'confirm' in ways that are very suspicious. I ultimately ended up on two separate subscription cancellation confirmation web pages, but! they both had the same confirmation number. Neither had my account number. I got the feeling I might as well have received two pictures of someone's grandmother. But, I saved a 'copy screen' of each as they did have different magazine titles and then emailed them to myself to record the date (which wasn't on the confirmations) and saved them. I'll be watching my bank card charges. If I need some future charge removed, the emails are dated proof of cancellation at their website to support my claim. What a pain. I'm keeping their little postcard too as it is the only source of my account number. I remember this type of problem all the way back to the 1950s. Their postcard dances right on the line between business and scam. I do believe that removing these charges and blocking his company with the bank credit card is the best way to go. When a charge is challenged, the card company sends a "What is your defense?" query to the vendor. If they fail to answer or don't answer to the card company's satisfaction, the charge is removed and/or the vendor can be blocked. Sending all your 'evidence' in your first contact with the card company is essential as they will not ask for a second go around between the conflicting parties. - Many, many words, but I hope they help someone.

I got a postcard today- 18 Nov 2010, and it directed me to call [protected]. I called and got the run around. Luckily I kept my email receipt. Use this address-[https://www.magcustomerservice.com/wss/10000041/home.do] to cancel your subscriptions; the 1-800, 877, 888 numbers are all crap! When I went to this website, I typed in my subscription ID# which is located on the postcard and was able to cancel all my subscriptions. Be aware that you must clear one magazine at a time. I checked to see if my requests when through by clicking "Order Status." My magazines showed "No Renewal." Now it is a waiting game to see what happens.
If you need more info, contact me at armyhertslet@hotmail.com. Good luck.

Synapse Group - magazine renewal

I sent for a preview of several Magazines for several months for a very small fee. I used my credit card to pay this fee. This company has sent me a notice that all the magazines that I previewed (7 Magazines) would be automatically be renewed at A really high price and if I wanted to cancel, I could call a number, toll free. After calling the number, they...

I had received 3 magazines that I did not order and canceled them once they came more than once. Then I received a innocuous postcard from them stating the terms of my subscriptions and that they would be automatically renewed unless I canceled with a supplied telephone number, which I tried to do only to be told that they had already been canceled.

I have no idea where they got my name or credit card information, but I have researched and found it might have been through Drugstore.com which I have done business with.

The number given me is [protected]... & listen carefully!
The computer-voice tried to scam me FOUR TIMES for EACH magazine I desired to cancel.
As in, "do you want to cancel Geographic AND enter a new subscription for Sports? Answer Yes or No." But that's not a yes-or-no question!
So I answered "No" and it tried again, offering me a different 'Zine in place of the one I desired to cancel; I answered "NO" again.
On the 3rd try it offered me "4 more issues immediately for just $2 each" AND the subscription would be reinstated after that. But since the current subscription still owes me 2 issues, I'd be paying $8 for TWO issues, which is more than a year's subscription, more than the single-issue price, AND the original subscription would NOT end!
On the 4th try it offered me 2 "free" issues of Geographic, but if I accepted that, the original subscription would be cancelled and a NEW subscription would start immediately! Meaning I would lose the 2 remaining issues on the current subscription in exchange for 2 "free" issues AND I'd be billed immediately for a whole new subscription.
Only after the 4th scam failed did it finally consent to merely do the cancel.

Synapse Group auto renewal of subscriptions

I received a card saying they were going to renew 4 magazines for me at the regular price which was a huge amount for each one. The card said to call and cancel by Nov 27, but when I called, it was automated and said I'd have to call again by Nov 27. I do not want this "service"at all and I have never heard of the company or subscribed for any magazine through them.

Check your credit card statements going back a year ago when the subscription was made. On my statement, the company's website was given where the merchant's name should be. For me, the merchant was TMEsub (www.tmesub.com). TMEsub is owned by synapse connect. On TMEsub's website, there is a phone number and email address given to handle subscription inquiries like cancellations. The phone number given is different from the one that was given on the mailer.

I prefer to use email as it produces a written proof of the business transaction (in this case, the cancellation). Always ask the company to confirm the name of the magazines that you have a subscription for through them, and then have them state in the email that those magazines are being cancelled and will not renew.

Synapse Connect also has a website you can go to to cancel. It is www.magcustomerservice.com. From the looks of the website, it looks like the same website of TME sub. I would go through all the channels to cancel.

I have gone onto the web site www.mybonuscenter.com printed on my order of Cooking Light 14issues, Martha Stewart Living 15issues and Readers Digest 15 issues. Also called three phone numbers including one listed on my order [protected])to cancel. They don't have these mags on their list. Did not receive all of these mags either. Got 1 or 2 issues of Cooking Light, M. Stewart and -o- of Readers digest. Cannot access these magazines to cancel. Do anyone know how to access these mags or how to cancel them?

I only disagree to the extent that the phone number works! However, you get a recording and I am still finding it difficult to talk to a Real person. Also, so far. I was able to cx two subscriptions; however, NO REFUND! I think this is a RipOff company!

Synapse Group Terrible experience!

I had a similar experience as a previous individual. I was led to believe that I would be prompted to CHOOSE whether or not to continue with the magazine subscriptions. Needless to say, I was never prompted and was very displeased having observed individual charges for each of 4 magazines. When I called the company, I was basically stonewalled and thought that I had been mistaken - - and it has cost me.

Having read another customer's report on this website, I called the company again and asked that they reverse the charges. I will be awaiting the results - - but am hoping that the indeed reverse the charges.

Overall, it is clear to me that they are preying on people's lack of assertiveness, not unlike the insurance companies.

I have received a notice that "O" magazine will be renewed at an extremely high rate of $46/year. If I would like to discontinue my subscription, I've been instructed to call [protected]. Does this phone number even exist. I have tried repeatedly to call this number to discontinue my subscription. It doesn't even ring! This is so frustrating! I

The way this company purposely misleads people is horrible! My husband and I returned from living overseas on a military deployment to find all these magazines we never ordered. (They claim we ordered them from Delia's, but that is simply not true--all we did was order a Christmas gift of clothing for a family member from a clothing catalog.) These were not magazines we were interested in or read! And we certainly wouldn't have had them sent to our suspended state-side address so that they would be 2-3 years old by the time we even saw them! Then, when we tried to contact Newsub Magazine via the phone number on our credit card statement, it was automated crap that not only did not cancel our subscriptions as it said it would, but continued to renew them and charge our credit card over and over again! I only found their website ( https://www.magcustomerservice.com/wss/home.do#top ) through numerous online complaints about this company on on-line blogs. Even at that, their website purposely uses deceptive and confusing language in the cancellation process (for example, if you click YES under the cancellation questions, it is worded in such a way that you are actually renewing your subscription instead of cancelling it! And there are several screens of these confusing/misleading questions. It is crazy). Newsub has HORRIBLE customer service--deceptive selling practices--charging credit cards without permission--if that is not fraud it should be! I urge all of you cheated by this company to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau: https://odr.bbb.org/odrweb/public/getstarted.aspx

I too have suffered due to these people. First I received a phone call that asked which magazines I or anyone in my family look at when in a store. I asked what this was about and the lady said oh just a survey and we got your name from someone you ordered something from some time ago. So I answered and then she said good we'll start your subscribtion to those right away. When I said no thank you she just laughed at me and hung up. Well I didn't know they already had my credit card number! If I had known I would have never answered her questions. I tried to call and cancel and thought I had done it correctly until I saw my bank statement and then started receiving the magazines. I called to cancel and spent 10 minutes on the phone with a machine, that also tried to sell me some more magazines. I hope I cancelled correctly or I'll have to block the charges at my bank, which will cost me but only once.
