On 09/01/09, I hired “Moving with us” to move a specific set of household items from North Carolina to Virginia based on a binding estimate (U632233) of $1612.10 with a confirmed pick up date of 09/14/09 at 10 am. My credit card was charged $460 at this time. The movers failed to show up. After several calls, a company entitled “Precision Movers” showed up at 7 pm. The movers informed me that the binding estimate from “Moving with us” was to be honored and I made a call to “Precision Movers” for confirmation. A so-called contract was then briefly explained to me authorizing them to move the items. The movers assured me that the delivery date of 09/16/09 was to be met without any delay. At this time, my credit card was charged $567 and the movers began loading. Since the truck was nearly full to begin with, the movers loaded the truck with some of the items and informed me that they would return the following day before noon after emptying the truck at a nearby storage facility. The movers returned the following day and completely ignored the list of items in the estimate and loaded the truck with as many items as they could find, while I was dealing with work-related issues and my wife taking care of our two-year old daughter. Before departing, the movers assured us that our belongings would be delivered on 09/16/09 at 3 pm at the latest. I rushed my family to Virginia on September 16th for the delivery. At this time, the nightmare began. “The Precision Movers” dispatcher informed that there was no delivery scheduled for 09/16/09 and to call them the following day. I called both moving companies daily only to receive wrong information about delivery. While in Atlanta dealing with a family emergency, I was notified late on 09/21/09 that my belongings were to be delivered on 09/22/09 and asked for $1300 cash or money order. I informed them that I waited for them the whole week and weekend and had to take care of a family emergency in Atlanta. Since “Moving with us” had offered up to 30 days of storage, I informed them that they needed to store my belongings because I was not in town. My phone calls were bounced from one company to the other. The dispatcher “Joe” informed me that I needed to be in Virginia on 09/26/09 for delivery of our belongings and needed to have $1900 cash or money order for storage and unloading/loading charges. With no other option, I rushed with my family to Virginia with money orders totaling $1900 and waited for the delivery. Movers from “Precision Movers” showed up in Virginia and demanded money at hand before delivery. No summary of charges was ever presented. I gave them the money orders and they proceeded with delivery. To our continued frustration, several items were damaged and about half of them were still in North Carolina. I called “Precision Movers” again to complain with no use. The charges imposed by “Precision Movers” are doubtful and unverifiable since half of the items are still in North Carolina. “Moving with us” and “Precision movers” have continuously used deception in their business practice with no sense of business responsibility and at times behaved inhumanly towards my family.
