I have received a letter like many others claiming I have won £490, 000.00 and in order to claim this amount I must sent a payment of £19.95 within 7 days to the address give n on the return envelope. Of course not having entered any contests this immediately set off alarm bells. I then looked to see if there were any contact details provided so I might query the matter directly. The lack of phone number, web address, or e-mail address further added to my certainty that this was a scam.

I then went online and quickly found many other complaints and warnings with regard to these letters. The sad thing is, not everyone knows to question these things, and if you send them what they are actually asking for you give them not only money, but possible account details and credit card numbers. Someone should really put a stop to these miserable people.

Please don't fall for this scam. If it looks too good to be true and you haven't entered anything then it is a scam!

I have received a letter today 19th september 2008 that i am the sole recipient of a prize of £490, 000 and the prize is being made available to promote exquisite jewellery, that proves that it is a scam, why should they offer a prize to promote jewellery.
