Mike's Gun Sales & Service

This company seems to be running a scam selling gun silencers. They take your money, have you fill out ATF forms, fingerprint cards, etc...then you never hear from them again. Ten months ago, I paid them over $1000 for a silencer for a .22 Sig pistol. I've requested a refund, but that seems to be going nowhere. I'm still waiting. Apparently what is happening is they are blaming a so-called slow down at the ATF. I called the ATF. They never received any documentation. The ATF suspects the paperwork was never sent in. Mike's Gun Sales & Service seem to be running a thinly veiled criminal enterprise. They screen their calls apparently because they never take mine. When I drive over there, they're always closed. I'm finding out through the BBB and others that I'm not the first one to be victimized by this company. Please beware if you're in Aransas Pass, Texas and you're tempted to do business with these crooks. I'm filing a complaint with the BBB and Federal Trade Commission hopefully to keep someone else from falling for this scam.

Once they get your money, you can forget it. You might as well write it off. I've contacted the Texas Attorney General's office to file a complaint.

I too am going through the same ordeal. I ordered and paid for my silencer in January of 2008 and have yet to receive it. I have also filed a complaint with the BBB and the Attorney General. I am in the process of getting my lawyer to send them a certified letter. The got me for over $900.

I wish I had found these posts before giving them my money also. This is exactly the experience I am having. Waiting for 1 year now after dropping $1200 for the silencer and application to NATFE. They will not call me back after leaving >20 messages, are always closed when you go there, refuse to give me the silencer serial# (used to check with NATFE for status of application) and blame NATFE for the delay. After calling the NATFE myself they revealed their waiting time is more in the 90-120 day range. This is a scam for sure and they will gladly accept your money and never produce the goods. I have filed a complaint with the BBB but noticed they have many unresolved complaints pending and the worst rating a business can receive - F. My next step is to file a small claims suit in Municipal court to get my money back. I was foolish to not have researched this place better before buying anything there as the more you search the more this scenario is documented. Low life people for sure!

I have the same problem. I gave them a check last September 2010. I also sent my paperwork and a check for the ATF. They will not return phone calls or emails and will not answer their phone. The ATF check never cleared.

Are any of you other victims from Texas? Could we form a group and hire legal representation and take this guy to court? Does anyone know this guys last name?

Ditto, ditto, ditto. Several thousand dollars up in smoke, over a year. No replies to email, phone, they do screen calls. Why don't we organize and get an attorney and hopefully court will allow us to seize his means of living.

I was actually lucky enough to receive a product and when I finally got it, it was defective. I ordered their so called new DMR-10 rifle in Remington 260. The chamber was apparently machined too short and bullets literally come apart in the chamber when you try to eject any unfired rounds. Costing me and arm and a leg to have a gun smith give me a replacement barrel. I agree they definitely screen calls and do not return your messages.

I did get the Sig pistol with adaptor after 18 mo. Still, getting same run around about ATF delays. Go else where if you don't want to get ripped off.

I have personally used mike for many services on my rifles, and I have purchased several of there products.I have been nothing but completely satisfied..They have always returned my calls even after hours! There rifles have been cover stories in several gun magazines and scrutinized by many experienced critics..Every situation is different but I have some friends that work at the atf and they told me that it generally takes 4 to 6 months to get paperwork processed..It all depends on the agent looking at form.I too have a dmr and it is the most accurate semi auto I have ever owned..Mike has built 4 different rifles for me and I have had 0 problems, they are exceptionally accurate and dependable ..I would recommend them to anyone who wants a serious rifle or the quiteest suppressor there is..

It is possible that we are hearing only the "bad" part of Mike's place there in Aransas Pass. When things are good people will tell their best friend, but when they are bad they tell 10 people. Having said that, all of the "bad" that you have heard is really, really bad, and very, very true. We consumers, unfortunately, must do all we can to shut this guy Mike down, and avoid dealing with him as you would sensibly avoid unprotected sex (even protected sex, for that matter) with one known to have HIV/AIDS. This guy has no integrity, seriously lacking in ethical character, and has adequately demonstrated that by his business behavior. Now let me shift gears again. I am an experienced shooter, and my talents have not suffered over the 53 years that I have been involved in the business. I have taken heat from reps with some companies because I take the position that the Jet is a good can, for those who do not need to be particularly mobil in their applications. I'm certain that he has sold bad cans, from what I read, but I currently own one for an AI 338 Lapua and another for a McMillan custom 300 WM. They are most accurate, and I would challenge anyone to show me a more accurate can of the screw on type for sedentary use. There is always some trade off between MOA accuracy and decibles which you learn when you get a little experience with differing methods of construction. Again, I recognize that he has sold some that likely don't stack up in terms on quality. I am only telling you my experience. But as it now stands I and my dealer are loosers to the order of approximately $3000.00 for a 50 cal can, waiting about 17 months now, no return emails, no answered phones nor returned calls. I have spoken with an ATF agent in McAllen. He is keenly aware of the shit end of the stick we consumers are getting, and he is very unhappy with Mike and Debra, to say the least. His deputy has contacted Debra re my case, but nothing yet. Of course the ATF cannot get involved in civil matters, which is what this is. But neither do they like their Class 3 people to represent the industry as poorly as Jet has been doing. There is a little yellow reminder on someone's desk in McAllen, and I suspect Jet will be getting heat from some direction, unspecified, even if not civil. Too many of us threaten legal action, but never follow through. I will be persistent, but will allow the opportunity for other pressures to act before I do.
