Midas Their check was fake

I applied for the job as a secret shopper in the company Midas Surveys and Evaluations. I got the check from them and the rep told me to withdraw my money only, but the remaining sum I needed to send to the third party. I was shocked, ‘coz their check was fake and of course no one allowed me to get money or to send it. I have no idea what to do now. I wonder if there are people, who have the same problems and what have you done in such situation, please post comments.

Midas Theft of Container Load of Personal Effects

In June of 2008, I accepted a job offer in Nigeria, after 29 years of living in the U.S., and needed to relocate the family there, from Maryland. We, unwittingly, engaged the services of Mr. Demola Oreagba and his company, at that time known as Midas Shipping, but now called Midas International.

Our selection of Midas Shipping/International for our shipping was due to the urgency to relocate quickly, the busy nature of shipping in that particular period, and Mr. Oreagbas affirmation that he had handled similar shipping jobs (in response to all of our queries based on our feelings of unease) previously.

We paid Mr. Oreagba and Midas Shipping/International $18, 000 (and another $1800 for packing and handling) for three (3) 40-foot shipping containers, with an agreement on a designated day for the packing to start and the need for no delays in having our personal effects packed up and moved for shipping (as our flight out of the country was scheduled for departure after the completion of the packing up of our stuff). Packing up and moving of our personal effects to the shipping point was to take no later than two (2) days.

On the morning of the day designated for the move to start, Midas Shipping/International personnel did not show up at the house. I spent all morning, frantically calling Mr. Oreagba trying to figure out why his movers were not at the house. Finally, in the late afternoon, three of his movers showed up with a truck and the worst professional attitude we'd have ever seen.

Rather than methodically pack our stuff, they proceeded to throw things into the packing boxes carelessly, all the while complaining about the work. My wife had to step in (I was out trying to take care of other stuff), caution them and call Mr. Oreagba to complain. The movers were at the house for barely three hours and made just one trip, before they informed my wife that they would have to come back the next day.

The next day, once again, no movers showed up. After frantic calls to Mr. Oreagba, he showed up with his wife and a reduced but different set of movers (who we were told were temporary workers that were called to work for the day and not his regular employees). This same drama continued for the next three days (remember that the packing and moving was supposed to only take two days), completing disorganizing our travel plans.

As a result, instead of traveling with the family to our holiday destination, enroute to Nigeria, I had to stay behind and, at great expense, re-schedule my travel.

Instead of using a storage warehouse with the requisite security arrangements, which is standard and prudent practice, Midas was moving our personal effects from the house and loading them into a 40-foot container (one of the 3 that we'd paid for) which was placed on a flat bed trailer, in front of its offices. On the fifth day of the move, with great concern relative to the pace of the movers, I stopped by Midas' offices in the morning to find out when the move would be completed, as I could not afford to re-schedule my travel again, given this was the peak period for summer travel.

When I requested to see Mr. Oreagba, I was informed that he was not available and that, unfortunately, they had some bad news for me. I was then informed that the container, with ninety (90) percent of all of our personal effects in this world, had been stolen in the middle of the night.

So, my family relocated half-way across the world, to start a new life, with nothing but the clothing that was packed in the suitcases that we traveled with. Now, you would think that Mr. Oreagba would be at his most apologetic, supportive or compassionate, relative to our loss.

Not so. Mr. Oreagba never once called to check on how we were doing (during this time he'd made several visits to Nigeria too), offer any form of interim financial support or even solutions as to how we could deal with our starting life in a new country with no clothing, furniture or cherished sentimental items. To make matters worse, Mr. Oreagba's business was not insured.

Given that we still had ten (10) percent of our personal effects that had not been loaded into the stolen container, we requested that the replacement container (for the stolen one) be used to accommodate them, in addition to a vehicle that we'd left behind. Instead of doing that, Mr. Oreagba/Midas apportioned these items across other peoples' containers, so that we lost some more of these remaining items, as he lost track of them. In addition, our vehicle arrived in Nigeria damaged (because, it was packed with other vehicles in another container).

Half the cars, which were contained in the other two (2) containers, were significantly damaged. The airfreight shipment which we paid Midas separately for ($500), based on the need to ship delicacies and medicines for our twin girls, who were then 2-years old with major allergy issues, which should have arrived in Nigeria in no more than 5 to 10 days, did not arrive until three months after our arrival in Nigeria.

After almost a year of seeking recompense from Midas, with Mr. Oreagba showing no intention of doing so, we had no choice but to sue Mr. Oreagba. An award was made in our favor in 2010. To date, Mr. Oreagba and Midas have not made any payments towards the award. Instead, he makes half-hearted and ridiculous offers through his attorney and third parties, while also claiming that he has no money. However, I understand that for his 50th birthday, he flew friends and family to the Bahamas in celebration.

In conclusion, I have since met multiple persons with horror stories, relative to their dealings with Mr. Oreagba and Midas Shipping or Midas International. So if you are thinking of using their services for anything, DON'T.

The concept of being "economical with the truth" is one that Mr. Oreagba, owner of Midas International would best understand, since that has always been his approach in all of our dealings with him. The following responses to his comments above should reinforce this viewpoint. Indeed, I would agree with him that any person planning to utilize the services of Mr. Oreagba or Midas, should please check out the attachment to this response, a record of the court proceedings.

A. Mr Obiaya house was packed and loaded in 2 days which was a Friday and Saturday and his remaining items in his warehouse was loaded first thing on Monday and the Container was ready for the port.

Mr. Obiaya's Response: I wonder how we could have been packed up in two days (Friday and Saturday), when Mr. Oreagba and his wife were in our house on the Sunday of that weekend, helping to pack us up, since as I mentioned in the report, that his staff barely showed up on Friday and Saturday. As a result, Mr. Oreagba and his wife spent a substantial part of their Sunday doing work that their staff failed to do (although on the witness stand, Mrs. Oreagba perjured herself by stating that she'd never been to our house (we have over four individuals who can attest otherwise). By Monday, the container was only half full, due to the laggard pace of Mr. Oreagba's employees.

B. He never mentioned that he requested that the container should wait for another 2days because he was expecting more goods that he ordered for and that it was overnight of the day that we insisted that the container has to go back to the port that the container was stolen, neither did he state that it took him over a month to provide the list of the items in container to the Prince Georges Police Dept,

Mr. Obiaya's Response: First of all, all the items that were ordered, had already been delivered and loaded into the container by Mr. Oreagba and his employees. However, because of the incompetence, inefficiency and complete unprofessionalism of Mr. Oreagba and his employees, not only was the loading delayed, but Mr. Oreagba had the nerve to want to suggest that the container be sent to the port with about only twenty percent (50%) of our personal effects still remaining to be loaded. As for providing a list of items in the Prince Georges Police Dept, no such request was made to me by Mr. Oreagba or the Police Department. The only request for a list of the items came from my attorney, when we proceeded to sue Mr. Oreagba. As a matter of fact, when I finally contacted the Police Department (as a return phone call), the detective I spoke to indicated that Mr. Oreagba's interaction with them left a whole lot to be desired, in terms of the pursuit of the investigation into the theft. So much so, that there was even an implied possibility of the theft being an inside job.

C. Furthermore he also did not mention that he decided to sue the company after 4months when our insurance refuse our claim for his goods and got a default judgement.

Response: A review of the information under the attachment to this response, would show that the filing of the lawsuit occurred on the 21st of April, 2009, approximately ten (10) months after the theft of the container. In addition, the review would also indicate that a summary judgment was awarded and NOT a default judgement, as stated by Mr. Oreagba. Of note is that during the ten months, Mr. Oreagba displayed, both in actions and words, a callousness and insensitivity of the likes that I have never seen, relative to his dealings with customers to whom he was solely responsible for the theft of, pretty much, all of their worldly goods. Further evidence of this, is the implication in his statement, however false his time line is, that we sued too soon after his insurance refused his claim. It should be noted that Mr. Oreagba's insurance claim was refused because he lacked specific insurance coverage for the use of his parking lot to load containers and, as such, he was seeking to claim the loss under his office rental policy. In other words, not only did he not have a special warehouse for storing items to be shipped, he lacked specific insurance for his moving and shipping business.

D. He also did not mention that we sue our insurance company to see if we can get a judgement that will be able to compesate him.

Response: Mr. Oreagba and his business lacked specific insurance for his shipping business and sought to pull a fast one by suing his rental insurer for his ill-advised action of using his parking lot as a shipping area/warehouse.

Our attorney have reached out to his lawyer more than five times requesting for settlement arrangement on the default judgement and was turned down on every occasion, the latest been December 2013.

E. Indeed, Mr. Oreagba has reached out with what any rational or reasonable person would consider idiotic or stupid offers, as well as threats. For a judgement that is worth $114, 055 (please see attachment), Mr. Oreagba has offered, respectively, to make payments of $200, $400, $600 and some other ridiculous amounts, on a monthly basis. In addition, he has threatened that if these offers are not accepted, that he would file for bankruptcy. Our response has been, please do go right ahead and file for bankruptcy, if that is what he believes is the right response to taking responsibility for his failures. Additionally, Mr. Oreagba has always stated that he has no money, apparently, by ensuring that all of his assets are hidden.

F. All stated above are public record and can be verified from the court records.

Response: Indeed, a review of the court records (please see attached), would clarify which of us is being "economical with the truth".

G. At Midas we strive to ensure the safety and perfect handling of our customer goods and in over 2000 Containers that we have loaded in the course of our business span over 15yrs, Mr Obiaya's container is the only one ever stolen.
and we always make sure that our customer satisfaction is our priority.

Response: I would state categorically, anyone utilizing the services of Midas International, does so at their own peril. It does not matter how many containers have been stolen under Midas' watch. What matters is how the customer is made whole. That is, in our case, for the container that was stolen under Midas' responsibility. To date, Mr. Oreagba's and Midas International's understanding of making sure that "customer satisfaction is our priority" falls very short of our reality as customers. I do not believe that it would be an exaggeration to state that Mr. Oreagba and Midas International represent the quintessential shippers from hell.

H. Finally we will also like to state that Mr Obiaya have been using Midas 2yrs before this incidence and ones after the incidence.

Response: Again, another "economy of truth" by Mr. Oreagba, since we'd only ever used Mr. Oreagba's services twice before (to ship vehicles). Even those experiences were unpleasant ones, as the cars were damaged, by the time they arrived in Nigeria. As indicated in the original report, our use of Mr. Oreagba to ship our personal effects was a product of desperation that was a direct function of timing and shipping season constraints.

Response From Midas on Mr Obiaya Allegation

In as much as we empathise with Mr Obiaya on the loss of his container, we felt that he is been economical with the truth and all this are public record in the circuit court of state of Maryland. We will just like to address some of the points he raised .Mr Obiaya house was packed and loaded in 2 days which was a Friday and Saturday and his remaining items in his warehouse was loaded first thing on Monday and the Container was ready for the port.He never mentioned that he requested that the container should wait for another 2days because he was expecting more goods that he ordered for and that it was overnight of the day that we insisted that the container has to go back to the port that the container was stolen, neither did he state that it took him over a month to provide the list of the items in container to the Prince Georges Police Dept, Furthermore he also did not mention that he decided to sue the company after 4months when our insurance refuse our claim for his goods and got a default judgement. He also did not mention that we sue our insurance company to see if we can get a judgement that will be able to compesate him.Our attorney have reached out to his lawyer more than five times requesting for settlement arrangement on the default judgement and was turned down on every occasion, the latest been December 2013.

MIdas is very sorry for his loss but all effort to do something have always been frustrated.

Thank you

Midas oil change from hell

I took my 2004 Nissan Altima to Midas for a regular oil change/rotate oil tires and I had bee going to them for about 2 years or so. The next day I noticed oil spots under my car so I went back.. The same technician that did the oil changed checked again only under the car and replaced the oil filter. Later, I drove over 65 mph noticed the smoke coming under my hood and cloud of smoke coming from the tail pipe. I pulled over and checked under the hood and realized the tech forgot to put back the oil cap. I called them and had told them what happen because I was near a Auto Zone I walked to purchase oil cap, funnel and 5 qts oil. Added all 5 qts but the oil light never came on. I went back to Midas and they cleaned off the oil around the engine and refunded back the money with a apology. This could had cost me an engine.

Midas MIDAS INC. Immigration Consultants – FRAUDS!!!! - Don't let them play with your career

Address: A-22, 1st Floor, Block- A, Sevak Park Dwarka Mor, Near Dwarka Mor Metro Station, New Delhi-110059
Website: http://www.midasinc.in/

In October 2011 we received an email from Midas Inc. Stating that I have a good chance of getting my Canadian PR all I need to do is send in my documents for a free assessment. So I did. In 2 days I received an email from their end saying that I qualify for the PR and they can help me get a job in Canada along with the PR.
We decided to meet them and so we fixed up a meeting with their representative. She explained the whole process and said that they will get me a job (interviews taken through a video conferencing)... get my AEO and finally file my PR within 9 – 12 months. I was very convinced and decided to give it a go..
They took all the documents from me in May. I started suspecting that something was wrong when they got 1 formed filled 4 – 5 times. The form was very basic and just required my family details. I used to get no calls from their end so I followed up with them every now and then. In May they said that my papers have been filled and I have to wait for 3 months. I asked them for what did you file my papers for? I don’t even have a Job offer or an AEO. They said 1st we file the acceptance and then we will get me a job. I asked them why I wasn’t told anything about the acceptance before. They said it is an important part of the process. I researched on my own but could not get an answer for what acceptance really means. In July after constant inquiry I found that they didn’t send my papers for anything. After shouting at them they sent my papers (don’t know where they sent it) and just mailed a postal courier slip to prove that they sent it. They said I will receive an email from the Canadian authorities informing if they accepted my application or not. I didn’t receive any thing for for 2 months.. I was all worried I knew something was not right.. they then said that my 3 months period ends on 27 feb. If by then I don’t receive anything they will contact the Canadian authorities them self. On 27th my patience ended and I decided to go and meet the. And I couldn’t believe what they said next- they told me that my application was rejected.. I told them that according to you I should have gotten a reply on my email regarding that but I didn’t get any. How do u know if it got rejected? They gave me a letter from Canadian authorities who stated that my application was incomplete, didn’t contain any Job offer or AEO (They didn’t even work on my AEO). And the date at which the application was sent by the Canadian authorities was 20th Nov 2012 and I was not informed about it till 27th Feb 2013. More over.. They didn’t send my AEO (How can they send an incomplete application). They didn’t do anything regarding it. And when I read the full application I was shocked to know that they directly applied for my PR and not the acceptance. A straight jump from step 1 to step 4. Where did step 2 and 3 go? They took INR Rs. 2, 50, 000 from me. I am now struggling to get a refund back from them. They are sending me emails from a fake legal ID... and outsourced a lawyer who till now doesn’t even know my name or details regarding the refund (it’s been more than a month since I filled for it).
It is a request Please DO NOT trust MIDAS Inc. They are nothing but a bunch of unprofessional and unqualified FRAUDS! I got trapped but I don’t want anyone else to fall in their trap.
If you have any concerns or would like to know more contact me directly at: rs2013.[protected]@gmail.com
Please don’t let them play with you career.

Midas could not find the real problem

I was on a business trip in Rockville, MD. I noticed that the temperature gauge went beyond the red dot. I cooled the engine down overnight. The following morning, I brought the car to the nearest Midas shop (1460 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD 20852).

I was told that the reason for the engine overheating was the leak in the radiator and this radiator needed to be replaced. Since I was far away from home I had no choice but to agree and paid $832.64 for the replacement of the radiator.

As soon as I started the car on the Midas premises after this repair, the car began to rattle violently. There was no rattling at all before the repair. The Midas mechanics assured me that this vibration had nothing to do with their repairs.

They assured me that I could safely drive home 40+ miles away. I drove in a terribly vibrating car and after the engine started overheating again.

Another shop - not Midas - thoroughly checked the car. I was told that, contrary to the Midas mechanics' instructions, I should not have been driving these distances: the Midas mechanics had failed to identify the real engine's problem - the blown head gasket.

As a result, not only have I paid Midas the unnecessary $832.64 for the radiator, but I was also given incorrect instructions that cost me my car. The lowest estimate that I have for the engine repair is $3, 300. This is the direct consequence of the complete incompetence of the Midas employees.

My advice: never ever go to Midas. Put them out of business.

Midas bad brakes

Bad brakes and service... These are so called brake Experts ?!1 year ago I got an emergency brake job here, it already failed! I got it fixed at a shop I trust. After dealing with the manager trying to reconcile the problems, he refuses to take responsibility for negligent installation. Essentially the calipers were not properly lubricated and the rotors and pads wore out at an extremely fast rate. He refuses to accept this as reality, and has given me nothing but trouble when trying to resolve the problem, suggesting it was my fault every step of the way. I could not be any more displeased with the representative from this branch whom I am dealing with. I do not trust them to install brakes any more, even if he offered to repair it for free after everything, how could I trust it was done correctly this time? Short story, do not deal with these people, they charge nearly double of what a good reputable hometown mechanic does, and they do not offer sufficient compensation,

Midas overcharged for services

I was over charged for services rendered by this shop. I was never quoted a price for alleged tire rods that i needed. The rep went on to say that he quoted me the price and he swears on his dead father that he quoted me. If he would have quoted me 600 for brake service i would have told him to take my car off the lift and give it back to me. I feel that i was way over charged for brakes, rotors and tire rods. I will be filing a formal complaint with the state of new jersey. i filed a formal complaint with the BBB as well. If you have been misled by this man and his practices i suggest you do the same.

Midas deceptive sales; charged for fake repairs

Note: This initially occurred last year. I found this site and thought I would warn everyone as there was no follow through by local or national management.

I intially went to this place because I had a check engine light on. They told me that I needed exhaust work (catalatic coverter, egr valve) which would correct the problem. Well, after picking up my vehicle (about $2, 000.00 worth of 'work') I quickly found out that I still had the original problem that I went to Midas with – the check engine light is still on. It did not come on right away but did so on my drive from Lake Jackson to Angleton. So, I went to AutoZone and had the system scanned. The printout verified that there were still problems with the EGR system.

The Midas receipt showed 'work' done on the EGR system. I feel like I have been led down a path of expensive repairs compounded by doing without my vehicle, and the issue which I was told was corrected still exists. Also they had a notation on the Midas receipt “Items Declined By Customer”. They were not ‘declined’ by me because I was told that the work that was being done was going to correct the check engine light issue.

I made a complaint due to paying about $2, 000.00 with no resolution to my problem. I was later contacted by a Houston-based General 'Manager' who requested I go back to have the issue addressed. I did and was met by the owner, a man by the name of John. He was very clear that he only runs an honest business. I left my vehicle for them to examine. I was contacted the next day and notified that the problem was identified..it was an EGR valve (which was indicated by the AutoZone scan as well). I did note to myself that was one of the parts which was not taken care of on the first go around. I returned John’s call and he let me know the particulars, and then dutifully advised that although Midas was good enough to replace some parts at no cost the last time, they were going to charge me for this one, $119.07, in order to correct the problem. He said they would need to drive the car to make sure everything was okay, etc, and that I could pick it up later. I got home from Houston later that dya and checked out my vehicle which my son picked up for me. I regret to say that I was not surprised when I saw the Check Engine light was still illuminated.

I went back to AutoZone to get another scan done and, well, the same problem persisted. Doesn't Midas recheck their work? Do they check the scan codes to see if the problem(s) still persist? Are they really doing the work? If they are, is that Midas using substandard parts or labor? Am I a victim of a skilled upsale?

I had initially requested a part at this location, and it was going to be under $500.00. I should not have listened when I was contacted to have the other repairs which were needed (I was told) in order to correct this issue. It was going to save me money, etc.

At this point I have paid, in good faith, $2030.57 to Midas, Lake Jackson, TX; however, no resolution to my issue. I cannot see myself going back to that store, and I am on the fence as to whether I can go to another Midas. It has been almost a year and I still will not go to a Midas.

I am posting this in hope that no one else gets taken too.

Midas unfair business practices

I would like to submit a formal complaint against Mr. Sam Ayoubia, Independent Owner of Midas located at 3149 South Broad Street, Hamilton Twp., NJ 08610. I own a 2004 Mitsubishi Galant which I pride myself on continuous and timely maintenance and keeping my car looking and running fabulously! I had an appointment for brake pad replacement of the front end of my vehicle Saturday, December 10th, 2011 @ 8:00 am. At Midas in Hamilton Twp., NJ. A week prior to this appointment, I had severe frontal vibration when I stopped my vehicle. I initially went to the Mitsubishi dealership first and let them assess my vehicle. I was informed there was an issue with the front rotors and that my pads on the front were half worn. They indicated the rear break pads and rotors are fine. I instructed the dealership mechanic to replace the front rotors but I would take my vehicle to Midas because I have the Lifetime Pad replacement warranty. I really don’t care for the pads they utilize at the my dealership because they produced so much noise upon stopping, which is what prompted me to go to Midas in the past and continue a business relationship, the quality of the pads are great!
I arrived at Midas for my appointment and the mechanic began their brake analysis. Mr. Ayoubia asked me to come into the garage. He began to point out that the rotors that were placed on my vehicle were after market rotors and therefore, does not meet their specifications. At this point, he advised that this voided my warranty and in order for me to take advantage of the pad warranty, I would have to remove those new rotors, take them back to the dealership, seek a refund and allow Midas to replace the rotors at cost for the rotors and labor; the pads would be free but would have to pay for labor. The funny thing is, had I removed those rotors, was he not going to replace them, (if he really replaced them), with after market rotors? Mr. Ayoubia stressed that putting new pads on my vehicle with those after market rotors would be a liability for him and he was not going to take that chance. Mr. Ayoubia further advised that my rear rotors and brake pads had signs of visual and severe rust; I would need to replace the pads and rotors on the rear as well. He had not disassembled the brake pad to even show me wear and problem with rust, he was pointing at the exterior of the brakes and rotor, on the left side of the vehicle only, and the right tire still on. In addition, I had just had a full inspection of the brakes system at my dealership one week prior. They confirmed everything was fine with the exception of the front rotors and the front pads being half worn. When I informed Mr. Ayoubia of that, he just stuttered and mumbled some incoherent language but what I got from it was there was no real explanation for why he was advising me to do all of this on my vehicle other than to make money off a woman coming into his shop alone for maintenance.

I have attached the quote that Mr. Ayoubia provided to me. I denied all the service and left the store smelling an attempted rip off and also unfair business practices.
I went home and contacted the Midas location located at 2290 East Lincoln Hwy., Langhorne, PA. 19047 and spoke with Louis. He was very kind and asked me to come in that afternoon and he would do everything he could to assist me. After arriving, Louis asked to see my previous Midas maintenance records to verify warranty and I had brake pads within an hour. Louis apologized profusely for Mr. Ayoubia’s “service”. He informed me that Midas Lifetime Break Pad Replacement Warranty covers pads for the lifetime of ownership of the vehicle, regardless of where the owner gets rotors from. He also informed me there was no liability whatsoever with replacing those pads as Mr. Ayoubia stressed. It appears that was his attempt to get out of the brake pad replacement warranty and walk away with additional dollars to boot. Louis advised me to write a letter of complaint to corporate office and I took that advice, in addition to lodging complaints on several websites and Consumer Affairs.
When the prior owners were at the Hamilton Twp., NJ location, I never had this problem. They were honest, concerned, fair and very customer oriented. You could not pay me a million dollars to go back to the Hamilton Twp., NJ location. However, fortunately for Midas, the Langhorne location has retained my business for years to come. I just feel sorrow for the other individuals that were not shrewd enough to see through Mr. Ayoubia’s high pressure and unfair business tactics.

Midas horrific customer service

It was yesterday December 7th, 2011 when I decided to stop by Midas at Automobile Blvd., Silver Spring, MD 20904. It was pouring outside and I came at the time the store was supposed to open, which was 7:30 am. The manager didn't arrive until almost 8 am. As I was complaining about his tardiness, he was simply saying it was raining and I was late. The mechanic decided to pull my car in while instigating a fight with "What" in his expression. He opened the side door and literally screamed at me with "the governmnet is late, the post office is late, we can be late!" and the price of the oil we put in your car is a lot more than the price we're charging you; we're not making nothing, nothing!". Before pulling out, he (an African American) also showed me his name on the uniform, which says Ricardo . I was a little stunned because the rather large sign of $24.99 is being displayed vividly out front. I simply asked the mechanic to pull my car out and left. It was my first experience at Midas and will certainly be the last.

Midas They destroyed my engine

I bought the car in to have an exhaust welded on. I recieved the car back with a blown engine. I am talking broken rockers, push rods. They blamed me saying i bought it in like that. the exhaust they welded also fell off in a few days. I complained to BBB and to there corporate. BBB sided with them and corporate woudn't fix my engine. They did weld a new lower quality exhaust. That new exhaust rattled the moment i started it up when they returned the car. I had to dish out 300 bucks to fix the broken valve train. NEVER GO TO MIDAS EVER! They can't do anything and will not accept responsibility. It is not even worth suing cause they are prepared with a team of lawyers.

take you car to a certified mechanic or to the dealership. these places don't take the responsibility when one of their employees forget to replace fluids or put something back together, grease monkey oil change service centers. including Midas and especially brakes plus. all rip offs. my best friend blew his engine after grease monkey forgot to put oil back in the car, . and claimed no fault of there's . i quit taking my cars to mechanics that have a certified mechanic on duty, but that doesn't mean all the mechanics working for them are certified. as i found out across the street from me. don't let the junkyard dogs get a hold of your car .. but the dealership will do a more thorough job.

Midas received car in bad shape

I brought in my 2006 Chrysler Touring in to Midas so they can replace my tie rods and perform a oil change. As soon as I pick up my vehicle, I notice a loud ticking sound coming from the hood. I brought my car to Midas c0mplaining about the noise and they keep denying that they ruined my car in any way. I basically brought my car in to Midas to fix a problem and I received a bigger problem in the end. I keep repeating that my vehicle never had that sound till I received my car back from them. Whenever I call them, Midas says that they will call me back but never do. It is very inconvinient out of my daily schedule to constantly bring my car back to Midas and to receive the same results.

Midas midas of seven hills, ohio

I have a 1997 Ford Econoline van that needed a new muffler. I had previously replaced it at Midas of Seven Hills Ohio and it had a lifetime warranty. No problem, right? WRONG! I was told on the phone that labor would be about $98 and a few bucks more for the tailpipe. So I made an appointment with the person who gave me the quote. I was told to bring my paperwork for the replacement muffler which I was able to locate. So once the van was put up on the rack, the real excitement began. I was told that first, I had a problem with both catalytic converters and that it would be $3200 to replace. This Ford has 2 converters. I promptly declined and said just replace from the muffler back. The service rep told me that I had to replace the connector pipe that connects the converters to the muffler. I told him that I just replaced that less than a year ago and it had a lifetime warranty. He said nobody has a lifetime warranty on pipes. I showed him my receipt from Auto Zone that clearly showed a limited lifetime warranty. I asked again that he quote from the muffler back. Much to my chagrin, the quote was $280 with $110 for the tailpipe and $130 in labor and the rest for clamps and taxes. I asked if that inclued the free muffler, and he said yes. I asked why he indicated the laobor was $98 on the phone and he said "It starts at $98 and goes from there. In your case, it is $130." Nice bait and switch. ----It gets better---read on---So I needed to get this done as I needed to use the van for a job the next day. I decided to go ahead with the repairs (and that was my second mistake--my first mistake was calling this Midas location). While I am sitting there, I have my laptop and I look up Midas on-line and find a coupon for $10 off $100, $20 off $200 or $30 off $300 worth of work. I took my laptop up to the rep and asked that he apply the coupon. He declined, saying that getting a free muffler was a coupon. I said no, that is warranty work. This should be honored. He said he would call his supervisor who also declined. I then called the customer relations number for Midas at [protected]. The Customer Service Representive said that the location should honor the coupon. I informed the local representative who said he would have to call his supervisor back again. He did and only after threatening to leave, did he honor the coupon. So to top it all off, my bill was $253.00 for a tailpipe and muffler. Just for the heck of it, I called the Strongsville, Ohio Midas and asked what it would cost (out the door) for a tailpipe and muffler. The person said $280. I asked what it would cost if I had the muffler under warranty. He said, "take off $75." Then, they would honor the coupon. Bottom line is that I should have paid somewhere in the range of $195 rather than having to fight for the $253 from Seven Hills Midas. This location appears to mark-up the cost of parts and labor enough to cover any or all savings that I got from having a lifetime warranty on the muffler. Not to mention all the hassles, inaccurate part needs and bait and switch labor cost tactics.

Uhhhh plus who's going to weld that lifetime pipe from autozone on? Franchise. Not all Midas are the same. Different locations will have different prices. Your phone quote is a guess. What else can it be! You don't have the van there so... Hey guess what part of my exhaust needs replaced? I don't know, put the van on the phone.

They don't mark up the prices here. This is the best Midas there is in the area. I have been taking my car there for years with out any problems. I have had everything done from brakes to getting a brand new exhaust. And I shopped around for prices, so I know that they are the cheapest. Plus they have great service? Limited lifetime warranty does not mean lifetime warranty. And what ou paired was a good price considering the vehicle that you have. People like you are the ones that make the prices go higher because you want to get things for free so someone has to pay for it right? If you were that unhappy you should have just left. I love this Midas and would go no where else. Sounds like you just had a bad day and tried to take the world with you.

Midas rudness from midas manager

There was not any courtesy from the MIDAS Manager from this store when you called to check on the warranty of a previous job done about six months ago. I went to another car center to get an oil change and was informed that the oil pan had to be changed because the oil plug would not seal properly. They could not make any oil change. I called the MIDAS Manager to see if he could give me an appointment to check on that oil pan thinking that I had bought that part from them with a warranty. He was very defensive and rude and gave a lecture about breaking something of my mother's. His behavior was childish and extremely rude and certainly not the proper customer service experience that I expect as a repeat MIDAS customer. I came with a serious problem this person and I was treated by him like if the last thing he wanted was my business, and that is what I am going to give to MIDAS. This employee needs to be disciplined and perhaps taught about manners and respect.

Or you need to be taught that if you go other places for oil changes that you can't blame one place for a drain plug issue. Metal on metal loosen and tighten over time will wear. Also learn how to tell the whole story! Did they just put a new oil pan on 6 months ago or did they change your oil last? You didn't go back to them for an oil change... So what is it? Just going to who has the best coupon? Ps standard oil change is 3 months/3000 miles.
