< microsoft customer service is incredibly bad >
< buyer beware >
1) ordered a netbook on the 28th december 2009 (lenovo s10-2)
2) shipped via ups on 29th december 2009
3) lost by ups (stolen most likely within network) and officially recognized on the 5th jan 2010
4) microsoft store does not know how to handle delivery exceptions at all (j... ust check there faq's). it took 3 emails and 3 phone calls just to get them to check with ups
Ups (8th jan 2010).
5) ups recognized and approved the lost claim on the 15th jan 2010.
6) so far been another 3 calls and no furhter progress... same response every time... please wait 1 to 8 business days for someone to contact you...

It has been 1 month allready and I still havent got anywhere.

If I could have choosen zero stars I would have done.

< do not buy unless you are feeling lucky! >

renevarc2@hotmail.com, password "2006caddy" "It looks like somebody may be using your account" I have not ben able to get into my email for MONTHS, even after countless recovery attempts/failures! I even tried to make multiple new accounts, that I NEVER WANTED! ALL TO NO AVAIL! TERIBLE, HORRIBLE Customer care/Support, Microsoft!

renevarc2@hotmail.com, "It looks like someone else might be using your account" FOR MONTHS! Recovery failed multiple times; new-account creations (that I never wanted) failed too! Extremely poor customer care/support, Microsoft!

Microsoft store service lacks customer service in a big way. I called to transfer a Office 365 pre-paid subscription from one e-mail address to another e-mail address, both are my MS account. Yet they placed me on hold for 2 1/2 hours without any resolution. First, Yasi (call center Philippines) placed me on hold for 2 1/2. Then Asia (call center Philippines) placed me on hold for another 20 minutes and came back to say they can't solve problem but will escalate the call and someone would get back to me. At this rate, I am surprised that MS Store can stay in business.

Microsoft store is honestly summing up to be a scam. Purchaced a laptop which was supposed to have a 1 year manufacturer warranty from date of purchace. Called the manufacturer 2 days later and was informed that the warranty on my supposed brand new $1000 lap top began 6 months ago and only has 6 months left. Called microsoft store and the customer service was horrible. The representative keeps telling me that I have a 1 year warranty from now no matter what the manufacturer says, how ever how can he say that when the manufacturer is the one doing warranty repairs. The manufacturer is stating that I only have 6 months left. This apparantly appears to be a used system resold to me by the microsoft store. The warranty was already activated 6 moths before my purchase.. scammers.. i will never purchase from them again

The online Microsoft Store is clearly set up with the intent to defraud. . . . purchased a laptop. After receiving it . . i called for clarification on their "14 day calendar return policy" that is posted on their website. I spent 45 minutes on the phone with some guy that couldn't understand my question. . . ?is the 14 days from receipt of product or from purchase date, as it took 9 days in transit? . . .

Now mind you i was talking to the return department. . . and they guy couldn't/ wouldn't answer. First it was from purchase date . . i said that makes no sense . . . so after 3 on holds to supervisor he then said if i opened it it was 30 days . . . I again told him it makes no sense . . finally i got a supervisor on the line . . .all the apologies in the world that yes, he knows that i was repeatedly given the incorrect information from agent . . and his clarification was 14 days from receipt of item to request Return Authorization. He swears to me that these notes are in system.

Then 13 days goes by . .. the computer is not to my liking . . so i call up to request Return Authorization . . . I am told over and over again that i cannot return as it is past 14 days (regardless of the notes by the supervisior that they conceeded are in the system) and even so I opened the package so i cannot return. I tell them I am reading their website which i print below. .

Computers and Computer Hardware Items
Computers and computer hardware items, desktops, laptops, netbooks, mice, keyboards and printers provided they have not been opened or altered from their original state and do not show wear or damage. The items must have been purchased from the U. S. Microsoft Store within the last 14 calendar days.

and say that it doesn't matter according to their own website return policy if i open as long as it "is unaltered from their original state and do not show wear or damage" . . . they said no over and over again . . . supervisor get on phone and would not conceed that that was their policy that "because i opened box i could not return" . .

These guys are ### . . . with the clear intent to defraud. I've spent over hour and 20 minutes on the phone with these guys for something that should have taken 2 minutes tops. . . . BEEEEEEWWARRRRREEEEEEEEEEE. These guys are out to defraud. I would never ever ever use Microsoft again.

Well whether its the same person or not I can speak for myself and say I have had a nitemare of an experience. I ordered a gift for my mom with a rep from the microsoft online store and he confirmed I would receive it in 2 days. When 2 days passed and nothing came I called back and asked for tracking, they said I'm sorry ur order was rejected. I was like why? They said well we don't know for sure. It could of been rejected by us or your bank. I had advised my bank ahead of time of the purchase and knew it wasn't rejected by them. Then they told me to place the order again with a different card. I did and it was rejected again. They said well the thing is you used an alternate shipping address. I did not want the gift mailed to my house because no one would be home to sign. I put my house as the billing address which it is the billing address for all my accts and then I put my work as the shipping address and Microsoft online store rep tells me that the purchase is automatically flagged for fraud for that reason. That your suppose to ship to your billing to avoid this issue. Ive never heard a more stupid thing in my life. Ive ordered from many major companies and never had an issue like this. Were going on two wks of failed attempts of purchase. I'm about to give up because I'm tired of calling them and no one having a resolution. Its a waste of my time.

Really Michaelgross? Now I'm just assuming you work for apple or something considering how much you spammed the comments and made it seem like it was a different person or a different complaint the first couple of times. Really, go rant on your blog and leave it at that. You're giving people the wrong impression and making them think that tons of people are complaining.

Personally, I had no problem with the store. I bought a 1300$ HP elite from them in december, and it actually arrived several days before it was supposed to. I'd gladly purchase from them online again.

haha. This is funny. I agree with "feeling open minded today" It took me until the 5th poor review of Microsoft to realize it was the same guy every time. He tricked me when he agreed with himself about their poor customer service. Michaelgross, maybe if you put as much energy into getting ahold of someone at Microsoft as you did in posting this ridiculousness, your problem would have been addresses.

I have no experience with the microsoft store, BUT I am smart enough to know that when the same person posts 50 times and holds a discussion "agreeing" with himself about "having exactly the same experience" as himself, there is a problem somewhere.

I am on my 52st call to customer service. I have to start from scratch again with a numb nuts. He is going to create a service request. I am now on eternal request. I should hear in 48 hours. If you believe that, you believe in the tooth fairy. This customer rep has a heavy accent, claims to care deeply, blah blah blah. All 52 servie reps from Microsoft Online Store said they cared deeply., Not deply enough to resolve the matter. Microsoft Online Store is in the business to rip off customers and jerk them around when they call customer service in India.

I agree that Microsoft Online Store is a scam. They take your money and deliver nothing, and then keep your money. They then allow you to talk to one customer service rep after another with no results and a great deal of frustration. It is a ripoff. There are better places to buy computers online that actually treat you well like BuyDig.com and Amazon.com. Stay away from Microsoft Online Store--they lure you with offers that are too good to be true and then rip you off.

I am having the exact same problem. I ordered a Toshibe laptop on Jan. 1, 2010 from Microsoft Online Store. UPS misdelivered it even though it had the correct address on the package--someone--probably UPS--stole the computer. I have neither a computer nor a credit for my purchase. I have made over 50 calls to Microsoft customer service and keep getting jerked around. I know they have been reimbursed by UPS, but they just try to wear you out so you don't call any more. Buyer beware: don't buy a computer at Microsoft Online Store--if it is too good to be true, it probably is. What is the probability of two people experiencing almost the same exact experience with the shipper Microsoft hired stealing or misdelivering the merchandise, and then they split the proceeds. Sounds sleazy and unethical business practices to mee. I would never buy anyhting from them again those rippoff artists. There has not been one person out of 50 that has given a damn.
