We, the end user, we pay for our internet service, we pay to download programs, and sometimes we also expose ourselves in order to get a service !

On the other hand the internet providers, not only get decently paid, through direct payments, but they bombard us with adware, spyware and all sort of annoyances. And when they cannot, they do all possible things to know your browsing behaviour

Here is a typical example I have expeirenced:

My pc was infected with adware called ATDMT.COM.
If you google www.atdmt.com, it changes to http://www.atlassolutions.com/ and this company has one of its clients : Microsoft.

It seems that Microsoft is using this adware to gather browsing information from non users of Internet explorer
In fact it is present on firefox, , chrome and opera browsers

etc. Browsing services which are awarded
without need of entering this lotto. Winners
are chosen thru frequent login or browzing

Microsoft Screwed Me
A Short List Of Why I Won't Buy Any Microsoft Products
Attempt to upgrade to Windows 7 "could not be installed on this computer."
Microsoft engages in planned obsolescence instead of supporting legacy hardware.

I paid about $100 to downgrade from WinXP to Vista
Nothing on the box at the store told me why to choose Pro over Home Basic

Vista Forgets I'm the only user so I am the administrator
Vista didn't support my AGP card or dual monitor card for Movie Maker
My Dual Monitor card supports 1600x1200 pixels, more than enough resolution.

Microsoft Editors Corrupt My Data
Word gets confused and prevents formatting changes on long documents.
Notepad corrupts some kinds of text files in some situations

Vista Killed My Ability To Print Envelopes (same printer works fine under XP)
Vista even killed it under OpenOffice - they spike 3rd party software.

Vista withholds access to Documents and Settings folder
Good thing I only use gmail if I can't save email files during upgrade

Vista gave me a message that my 80Gb hard drive was bad and it must be replaced to boot up, it wasn't.
I waited a few days then it rebooted normally. Why did they scare me?

What Can Replace Microsoft? Ubuntu, Suse, others?

My name is Bryan . I am a 35 year old gamer and father of 2 other gamers. For roughly the past 20 years gaming has been a big hobby of mine. Although console gaming holds my primary interest, I have quite a love for PC MMO’s as well. I have gone through the gambit of consoles with the exception of the Wii and the Dreamcast. It was quite a few years back that I started a loyal relationship with the Sony Playstation. A relationship that began with one game. One game decided which system I was going to buy. That game was Final Fantasy 7. About 5 years ago I was faced with a similar situation. Microsoft had dipped it’s hand into the console wars and had made quite an impression. Word of Bungie’s Halo, which was to be exclusively on Xbox, was buzzing everywhere. My favorite game magazine, Game Informer, showered it with accolades. I was unsure of picking up a console from an untested company, well untested in this genre at least. As time passed the more I heard about this gaming console and it’s release title the more I wanted it. I picked up my first Xbox products. My Xbox and Halo. At this point I would like to say I don’t just make unilateral spending decisions in our household. I am the breadwinner in our little family. My wife doesn’t work. She stays home with our children. So any purchase is one made with care and deliberation. We are a working class family who cherish the value of our hard earned dollars. Which is why we bought the service plan that came with my Xbox. A service plan that not once was used. In slightly over 2 years that I owned that console I had no problems. My kids and I had countless hours of fun with Halo, the Rainbow 6 titles, and a slew of others. Unfortunately a power surge from a storm, about 2 years ago, this past November killed several electronic devices in our home. One of those was our Xbox. At this time I believe the Xbox360 had been out for nearly a year . We weren’t ready to give up our Xbox and go with the 360 yet, especially with all the over heating issues we were hearing about., but circumstances being what they were we needed to fill the console void . Also, we remember the issues that were supposed to have plagued the first Xbox, although we had never experienced any of those problems. We took another chance 2 years ago this past November. We purchased the Xbox360 with the extended protection plan from Microsoft. I usually prefer the good news before the bad so here it goes. The new Xbox live service and the recent update with avatars are absolutely awesome. The integration of Netflix was a really great idea. The games have been exceptional and the online play totally intense. My oldest son and I are very disappointed in the lack of Halo like games where 2 people on one console can go live. Now for the bad news. I HAVE BEEN THROUGH 6 CONSOLES! IN 2 YEARS! The first replacement came a week after the kids opened it for Christmas, because of a tray issue. I didn’t even use the service plan for that one because who the hell wants to send it out a week after we opened it. So we went back to Best Buy and they took it back no questions asked and gave us a new one. That was the last hassle free experience I’ve had repairing or replacing my consoles. I have been through every issue it seems in the past two years. 2 tray issues, the red lights of death, freezing issues due to over heating, the console instructing me to open tray when there’s a game inside. My most recent issue involved the console informing me it cannot read the disc because its dirty, open tray, clean disc, and restart the console (THE GAMES WERE BRAND NEW!). Once again, dead in the water for the holidays. You would think this would be the end of such an unlucky run, right? Unfortunately that is not the case. At this point I would like to add that Microsoft’s Xbox customer service, while great at giving lip service, is woefully inept at their job as well. They are great at thanking you and apologizing to you. They are, however, unable to document console warranty transfers. Earlier I stated that my first console transfer was not through the extended warranty. Best Buy replaced my first console because it was only a few weeks old. I figured I would just transfer my warranty when it came in the mail. Well it came ….6 months later . During that 6 months, by the way, I had the console replaced for the red ring of death . Of course no warranty was needed because the red ring is covered. The refurbished console I received from the repair center was the one I wrote to transfer my warranty to. The next repair was about 3 months down the road. THEY WANTED ME TO PAY $100.00 FOR THE REPAIR. THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NO EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS CONSOLE! Needless to say there was much yelling. Many calls were made before I was able to reach someone with a brain between their ears, and spoke English well enough to understand the slew of crap that had been flung my way. Now as far as the repair website, well, they have asked me for my opinion .The site always tells me I have no console out for repair and it wont let me update my consoles. Par for the course I guess. I know full well I am not the only consumer who has been completely dumped on in this fashion. I also fully realize it is a growing corporate trend to get our dollars in exchange for high end pieces of garbage. Much like the unfulfilled dream of what the 360 was supposed to be. The question I pose, albeit naïve in nature, is this: Is there no one with a conscience in your corporation? Is there no one with a voice for the consumer who wants a quality product for his/her family? As I said earlier we are a one paycheck family as are so many others who have bought your product. How dare you(Microsoft), and shame on you (Microsoft) for this unfinished piece of garbage that you (Microsoft) chucked into the stores. In closing I would like to hope I have helped someone who is trying to make a decision on a console. I will be sending this out to as many sites as possible, and any gaming magazine that will publish it. In addition it will also be sent to Microsoft corporate, for all the good it will do, I do not know. I have to go to the UPS website now. I have to check the tracking of my current repair. In Deepest Frustration, Bryan Reid and Family.

Purchased xbox 360 for my son Christmas 2017.( From BestBuy, with extended 2 year warranty) In February 2017, 2 months later, was freezing up and scratching games. Returned to BestBuy. Upgraded to the new Hdmi version, which cost more money. Upgrading also cost me my extended warranty. It could not be transferred. In November 2017, got the "three rings of death", 9 months later, we shipped it to xbox, for repair. A few days later, we received an email stating they received it. A few hours later, we received an email stating it was repaired and shipped out. A few days later, we receive our package from xbox. Inside is a note stating it could not be repaired, with a list of reasons. We call xbox customer service, on the line over 45 minutes, getting the run around. Finally get a supervisor, on the line, tells us it couldn't be repaired because it was tampered with. Ah, no it wasn't. " Trevor, who refused to give me his last name, because he knew I was going to file a customer complaint on his rudeness and terrible customer service, flat out accused me of tampering with it and lying about it. Also, repeatedly told me " I don't know why you are getting so worked up over it." The xbox 360 that was returned to me isn't even the unit I sent in. It is all scratched up, with dents in the back and it looks like the label, with the serial numbers was removed and re-applied. Uh, what's up with that. I didn't take it apart. It's terrible that multi billion dollar companies take advantage of their consumers more and more and their customer service get's worse and worse. Something needs to be done about this. Consumers need to be heard. Manufacturers need to care.

I am a hardcore gamer. I recently purchased a brand new redesigned Xbox 360 halo reach special edition system. Retail $399.99. I purchased it September 14 2017. Now five months later it has the red ring (or dot in this case) of death! Five months old!

I have purchased FIVE systems in total and have sent in three in for repair. For a total of EIGHT systems owned in less than six years. At $200-$400 a system this has cost me $1700 in new systems.

I purchased my first system in april of 2017, which I sent in for repair the following year for a casing defect which would jam the disc tray. They sent me a new one which I traded for in September of 2017 for a Halo 3 limited edition system. A year and a half later I had to replace that system because the dvd rom drive had burnt out.

I purchased a 60gb system and a year later traded that system in for a new arcade system and a 120gb hard drive. Less than a year later I had to send that system in because it suffered from the same casing defect as my first one. By which time the "new cooler, quieter" system had been released summer of 2017. In fall of 2017 Microsoft announced the release of the new Halo Reach limited edition system, in which I prepaid for from a local retailer.

I want Microsoft to fix these problems on their machine, and if they won't I am calling for an Official BOYCOTT of Microsoft's lemon game system.

We purchased a Microsoft XBox 360 in June 2017 for our son. This past weekend it stopped working and started flashing 3 red lights. The store we purchased it from informed us that the warranty on that particular probelm had been extended from one year to three years. I called Microsoft today to find out how to get the system replaced and was told they will only repair the system. Of course the location is somewhere in the midwest and we have to mail the system to them, which will take approx. one month. I just bought Guitar Hero for Xbox 360 for my son for Christmas which he won't even be able to play now. My complaint is this: If Microsoft is aware that the system has this problem then they should not make their customers wait months for repairs. They should be replacing the system for them immediately. Their customer service reps could care less of your problems. The first person that answered the phone hung up immediately when I told her I was calling with a complaint. I have 63 pages of complaints I have printed off the internet regarding Microsoft and their LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. I hope Bill Gates enjoys his Christmas knowing that he has screwed over so many of his customers who have bought his products for Christmas presents.

Second xbox360 wireless headset in 6months has died, contacted xbox customer support to ask for a replacement, but I could not understand what they were saying and they could not understand me either!. Is it too much to ask for xbox support operatives to have a basic understanding of the English language and likewise of the product? or were they thinking to save money by employing eastern European and Asian operatives, as I suspect they were when they built the headset in the first bloody place, and used cheap parts. Microsoft could learn a lot from Nintendo, who make more money from a technically inferior but more reliable console (Wii).

I have called to check the status and have been told that it has already been sent out so i waited called back and was told the agent was mistaken. I purchased a new Dell computer with Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit. I wanted to make copies of home movies. It said that the Windows DVD Maker was supposed to be included. I cannot find it. To ask Microsoft a question, they want to charge $60 + tax to ask a question about their product, which does not deliver as promised. I've already had to go through a couple of hours' work and frustration with someone I couldn't understand to where the computer would recognize my digital camera. When I purchased the new computer, I was told that this was the ultimate operating system. Bull. All I would like is for Microsoft to have a website where you could ask a question concerning their products (which I purchased legally) w/o having to pay through the nose for the request. Very dissatisfied with the Vista Ultimate,

Jan 31, 2017, I decided to go shopping for the purpose of investing in a "sweet headset" I could use and enjoy while playing one of my favorite games, Call of Duty 4 (Modern Warfare). I did very little research in any product I would be looking for, prior to my shopping. Needless to say, I found a product that looked pretty awsome. Great reviews on the back and everything.

Being uneasy about the purchase of a product that would burn $107.92 out of my pocket, I decided to call my brother to ask his opinion. He said he wasn't able to help me, but redirected me to Xbox Live Support Team. (1-800-4MY-XBOX). "Give `em a call and see what they think." I agreed and dialed them up.

Finally spending five minutes walking around the store, trying to reach an actual human being to talk to, I was able to break the ice with an actual tech person. I gave her my name and all my info for the call (so it could be documented), and asked her a simple question.

I explained to her the product I was looking at, descibed and read the inscriptions on the back, one being "MICROSOFT COMPATABLE", and asked her would this work with my Xbox 360, enabling me to communicate with friends and gamers, while being able to hear the sounds of the game, directly through this head set?

She read back her notes she had been taking to check and make sure she had heard correctly, and we agreed that we were on the "same page". She further went on and told me, and I will quote exactly what she said, "Yes, sir. It will work."

I smiled and said, "Thank you, m`am. That is all I needed to know."

She replied, "Not a problem, have a wonderful day. Good bye."

End of conversation.

Having confidence in this staff member with a middle-eastern accent, *(No racism intended)* I purchased this item, believing this woman was right. Later, this very night, I carefully take the product out of the packaging and try it out.

DESCRIPTION: Having male-jacks for both a mic & headphones, this product had an adapter with a USB port. (I did, however, explain this issue to this tech support woman; but she proclaimed it would still work).

As one might have guessed it, this product was not compatable with the Xbox 360, and this woman was wrong. To make this really long story a little shorter, I spent over an hour and a half on the same phone line. Politely arguing my point, I got nowhere with a different woman from the support staff. I then stated that I would like to speak to a manager, whos in charge of the support staff. This woman asked me why I wanted to speak to another employee. I politely stated that I was getting nowhere talking to her.

I waited about ten minutes on hold, as she 'patched' me through to another person. This man claimed he was a manager. After he told me the same, exact things the woman previous to him had been telling me, I asked to speak to his manager. He declined my request, and informed me that it was impossible to talk to anyone higher than him.

I began to get very upset. I asked him his name, but couldn't understand him, (very strong M-E accent). I then stated,

"So then, you would not be Mr. Bill Gates, correct?"
He agreed, "No, I am not, sir."
"All right, then. I know there is at least one more person, if not more, above you in positions that out-rank yours. Now would you please, put me on with someone who is in charge of..."
"Sir! I told you, no. I cannot put you though with anyone else higher than me."
I asked, "Well why the heck not, then?" He informed me that he was the only manager working right at the moment. I was and still am convinced that this was, yet, another lie.

He informed me, like the woman before, that he was very sorry and knew what I was going through. Being very aggravated, I asked him this,

"So let me get this straight. You decided to call Microsoft within your life time, to ask them a question about a headset. A question that would make sure this headset, which costs a decent amount of money, would work with your xbox 360 that you own. The tech person on the phone informed you it would work, and you decided to purchase the item; trusting this woman over the phone.

Later that night, or whenever you decided to give this new headset a spin, you realized your new product does not work with your xbox. You call back the support hotline to explain your issue. They tell you it is not their fault they lied to you, and that you are currently out of 107 dollars and 92 freaking cents!

Really, sir. Do you really know what I am feeling and going through?"

He then replied,
"Again sir, I am sorry about the mis-hap and I..."

I interrupted, "Excuse me, sir! I asked you a question. Do you really know that I am going through. Has this same exact thing happened to you, too?"

He answered my question, "No, I have not sir."

"Then why would you tell me some random, verbal garbage, saying that you have? Are you a company that indulges in lies, and profits from the common man, illeagally?"

"No, sir, '' he replied.

"Then why, sir, would you do such a thing?"

He then retreated to the common saying he used before and was comfortable with,
"Again, sir, I am very sorry about the misleading information that was given to you. We cannot be held responsible for this information that was giving to you. I will be happy to help me with any further difficulties you might be having with your xb..."

I couldn't believe the voice coming through my phone's ear-piece! I again, interrupted!

"YOU CAN'T WHAT? You can't be held responsible for the information that was giving to me? Are you serious? Why not? Can you not be manly enough to, excuse my expression sir, but to GROW A PAIR and take ownership of your mistake?"

I was actually surprised when I heard his voice. Shockingly, he didn't hang up the phone.

"On behalf of that woman that gave you the information, whether it was wrong or write, we cannot be held responsible."

Later on... He tried to tell me that I never called them in the first place to confirm with this MYSTERIOUS WOMAN about the headset.

I told him that the next business day, I would go to my phone company to print off a bill showing the use of my phone that called thier hotline number and talked to a rep for over 10 minutes (including the time it took to reach this woman).

His reply: "Have fun with that, sir. We do not and will not take re..."

Very annoyed at the unprofessionalism of this man, I interrupted yet again. "EXCUSE ME? Did you just tell me to, quote: "Have fun with that?"

"Sir, you can say whatever you would like, but I never said that. I don't know where you got that from, but I, however, didn't say that."

"Horse Hockey!" I screamed. "I just heared you with my own flippin' ears."

"Sir, you can say whatever you want but..." (GET THIS!) ..."we do not have your call on record."

"Excuse my language, but like hell you don't. I was informed that the call would be recorded for purposes of reviewing, later in time."

"Well then, can you give me a refrence number your call was made with."

I informed him the woman on the phone didn't give me any number, but only helped me by answering one of my questions.

"Well sir, if you cannot prove that the recorded phone call is real, then I must assume that it isn't true."

I got so aggravated and so pissed off I had to cut it off there. I decided to make sure he got my message.

"Well sir, I would like to just inform you... Make sure you are recording what I am about to say. Okay? I will make sure that I inform everyone I know never to purchase anything dealing with Microsoft, Xbox, Xbox 360, or any other future products that will deal with Microsoft gaming consuls. I am through with your weak and rediculous support teams that are hear to support you; not to lie to you. I want you to know, I am completely through with your products. Never again will I purchase and or use any product made by Microsoft, nor the makers of Microsoft."

He then hung up on me, without saying good bye.

I'm sorry to everyone who has this same problem. I for one, would like to talk to an American Tech Support Team Member. One I can understand. I have no hard feelings to anyone of the decent or relationship of the Middle-Eastern cultures. No one in general, I mean. I'm just sick, and VERY tired of trying to talk to someone who is overseas, and whos hired directly due to the fact, they work for less than minimal wage. I may be wrong, but I am surely damn pissed off.

A very displeased consumer.

My name is Scott. I own an XBOX360 and it is not working. I called in to support on 8/10/09 to request a return label (after the website failed to allow me to produce a return shipping label)to send my XBOX in for repair. I spoke with Mel who informed me that he is having some difficulties verifying my address and I will need to be transferd to a supervisor. I then spoke to Kevin who also told me that his systems are having difficultes verifying my address. I told Kevin that the postal service changed my zip code and that may be the issue. Kevin reassured me that someone from the Systems Team will be contacting me within 3-5 days for resolution. I never recieved a call. Today 8/18/09 I called back to resolve the issue so I can enjoy my Xbox again. I spoke to another supervisor who then told me that "systems is still looking into the issue regarding your address". I asked the supervisor if he has GOOGLE Maps and to key in my address. The supervisor agreed that my address was valid after verifying it online. I then asked him "what else do I need to do?". He told me that systems will need to contact me and a repair order has yet to be created. I work in the telecommunication industry and my performance is measured on resolving the issue at the first point of contact. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. The supervisor did not do a thing. MICROSOFT are you not in the software business? Is your outsource call center using your systems? YOu should know first hand on how to repair the issues. Are there contingency plans inplace incase something like this happens. I live where I live. I recieve mail everyday. I pay a bills here every month...but you think I live in Imagination Land. HELP ME PLEASE. Take care of your customers please or do we not matter to you anymore?

I just so happened to notice a charge for $7.99 on my bank statement from Miscrosoft Xbox. I did some research and found that they have been charging my card for three months without my permission. I called and they said they automatically switched me over to a monthly Xbox Live sub. Are you kidding me? I can't believe a company as big as Micrsoft needs to stoop this low. I have probably spent hundreds of dollars on DLC alone. Ridiculous.

It is called taking the blame yourself and supervising your son while online. AKA parenting.

Microsoft Live Search Cashback offered 40% cash back on HP.com purchases on Nov 28th. When you tried to make a purchase, you got an error message saying "oops, you are at the wrong page". Complaints to HP.com and microsoft via their email and chat contacts did nothing. This is a scam - offering a discount and then not honoring it.
