Membership Scam

I shopped for a particular book on-line, and found a great deal. I ordered the book from a company NOT called Best Brand Values. Shortly afterwards, I received an emailfrom Best Brand Values, a company I had never heard of. Buried in their confusing text is notice that I am now a memeber and will be billed $19.95 a month for this membership unless I cancel in 3 days. They assigned me a password to use also. I immediately searched to find a way to cancel the membership, and when I found it, the password I was given by the company would not work. I ended up calling them by phone, and I have now received an email from them acknowledging my cancellation. This is fraud! Buried somewhere in my book order from an entirely different named company, was this membership that I absolutely do not want. This is a scam, and had I not diligently checked my emails, I would have been stuck with a monthly charge I do not want.

Yes, the same thing happened to me. Found a book I wanted on-line for a great price and ordered it. Then my credit card started to be billed for BBV DISCOUNTMOVIESALE 866-7075858 FL. on a monthly basis. When I called my credit card company to check on it, they suggested I begin by calling the 866 telephone number. I did that and was treated in a VERY RUDE manner by the man who answered my call. On-line the service was listed as a free service, no membership was needed. Evidently (according to Mr. "Rude" who took my call) there was some wording tucked away somewhere that I didn't see. He even admitted to it being "in the small print", and took the attitude of "Ha, Ha, we got you!" Normally I only keep the paperwork that goes along with an order until I get the merchandise I ordered, so I don't have anything to look back at for wording. Bottom line is: If the company would have been more polite I MAY have conceded to it being my own carelessness and would have just called it a lesson. But this guy was so obviously enjoying the deceit. They will NEVER get my attention again.

WARNING: I had the same happen to me. Only I didn't see the email from Bbv but I noticed a charge to my Bank account. When I called they would not refund it even though it was only one day over the 3 day trail period. OMG this is complete FRAUD! BBV is a complete rip off! Do not purchase anything if you see this company is tied to your purchase no matter how good the price may seem...they get you by giving you a good deal on (book in my case) to have hidden writing to automatically charge you more on a monthly basis hoping no one will notice! Who offer a 3 day trail anyway...I would want a free month trial for anything and 3 days isn't enough for anyone. Just enough time to charge your account and get their extra money...oops; I mean MY MONEY!

I am working for the company they are trying to degrade with.let me inform you guys that when you are placing your order before you submitted your order, you will see the order summary and if you are READING the OFFER DETAILS beside it, you will found out that there is a membership involve and if you are checking your e-mail it's either in SPAM or in your in box you will find out that you have joined a membership.sometimes let us not blame it to the company, blame ourselves as well because we are not FULLY AWARE of what we are doing...and to those people who called in our customer service department you cannot blame our representatives because mostly of our customer shows disrespectful and sometimes shouting at the customer service representatives.let us think that we are not the one who put you on that situation.you yourself is the one who's responsible enough of what you are doing.next time BE AWARE of what you are doing and READ every details on the website that you are subscribing for...anyways i hope that it clears your mind and clarify all of your thoughts.thank you so much for reading and enjoy using again our websites.thanks once more!!!

I ordered a HDMI cable from a company on E-bay. The price of the cable was really great. Then I begin noticing on my credit card bills a charge each month of $9.95. When I finally got through to the company on the phone I found out that somewhere buried deep in the order form for the cable there was a comment about joining a buyers "club". I never meant to join any club, nor sign onto any kind of monthly charges. It seems that this company gets most of it's business from monthly charges which it hides in orders for various merchandise. Be very careful about what you order online.

I surffed in the web, and I found this book for a great price. One week after I noticed three charges on my bank account. One for cost of the book, another for $1.00, and the last one for $9.95. When I called the number 866 they told me that I agreed with the membership. So far, I remember I did not agree with any membership nor I authorized BBV to charge my bank accout with a precessing fee and monthly membership. To make a long story short they supposedly cancel my membership, and when I asked about the refund they told me no futher charge will be made, let see what happen...

Add me to the list... I was reviewing my credit card statement and since January, I've been getting charged $9.95 per month. I had thought this was going to a charity that I had signed up for. I am contesting the charges and getting in touch with the BBB.

Well, here's another person who got scammed. In December I purchased a DVD from Hot Movie Sales and didn't pay attention to the fine print (I am now assuming there was some. ) And I didn't pay attention to the monthly charges of $9.95 either until this month. When I called to find out what the charge was for, l the rep was courteous, told me when I had bought the movie I had joined a club. He gave me a refund for that month. After hanging up I looked at my old statements and saw that I had been charged each month since the purchase of the DVD. So I called again and the rep would only give me a one month refund. Now I am writing to the Dispute Department (they have one, wonder if it works) and await the outcome.

I fully agree!! They are not to be trusted at all. In fact fron the reps accent I believe they are foreign (German ?) who found a system to fraud the buyers. I contacted my Credit Card to report and they recognized the crooks because they issued me credit for 5 months worth of fraudulent charges. And all for purchasing one $6. book on line.
Somebody should start a Class Action Suite against the thieves and lets get them out of business fo good. If there existe a good attorney out there who is willing to take this Class Action Suite Please inform all of us
on this site and I'm certain we'll sign up!!!
